The Patriot Post® · Tennessee House Moves to Expel Race-Bait Agitators
The Tennessee Legislature has convened for 226 years, and this week its Representatives chose to uphold the dignity of this historic institution.
Three days after the hate crime murders of six people at a Nashville Christian school, three leftist Democrats led an “insurrection” (by Nancy Pelosi standards) on the floor of the Tennessee legislature — while in session. The protest was, ostensibly, against “gun violence,” and two of the agitators, using bullhorns to provoke a mob of protestors, took over the House floor.
Those two were newly elected race-baiting urban center Demos, Justin Jones of Nashville and Justin Pearson of Memphis. They were aided and abetted by another leftist agitator, Gloria Johnson of Knoxville. They are responsible for a flash-mob rush of more than 400 “protesters” into the capitol building calling for “gun control,” while a thousand others remained outside.
Yes, that’s right, these Tennessee radicals led a protest after an assault on a predominantly white school, not a protest about the unmitigated slaughter of black people in their own backyards — almost all being black-on-black murders. That truth is just too inconvenient for a protest amid the surge of violence since Joe Biden was elected.
Let that sink in…
The day of the mob protest, to her credit, Democrat Minority Caucus Leader Karen Camper, also from Memphis, was seen sternly chastising Jones and Pearson for their disgraceful actions. Picture a grandmother grabbing two grandkids by the ears and threatening to spank them — that was the scene.
State Troopers responded in order to provide House members safe passage through the mob.
How to respond to the radical reps? In Tennessee, rapidly.
The House is voting today on expulsion of the three leftist agitators. The expulsion resolutions note the three “did knowingly and intentionally bring disorder and dishonor to the House of Representatives through their individual and collective actions.” That is kindly understated.
Expulsion requires a two-thirds member vote — which is a high bar to reach. It will be a close vote in a legislative body that has 75 Republicans and 23 Democrats, some Republicans believing discipline and censorship may be more fitting than expulsion. Notably, House sources indicate that, privately, Demo Leader Camper believes the trio need to be disciplined and censored, but she is noncommittal on expulsion. She is not in the same radical camp with the three agitators.
Republican House Speaker Cameron Sexton has already booted the three Demos from their committees, noting: “Their actions deserved to be disciplined, and what they did was a breach of House rules, they need to be held accountable. What they did on the House floor I have not seen happen in Tennessee or heard about.” There are concerns that not sending a strong message will lead to more violent confrontations.
(UPDATE: Justin Jones, the primary protest instigator, was expelled (72-25). Justin Pearson was also expelled (69-26). Gloria Johnson was retained by only one vote (65-30), and when asked why the other two were expelled, stated, “It might have to do with the color of our skin.” Inevitably this will be cast as racist, two black men expelled, a white woman retained. County Commissions can appoint individuals for vacancies, thus Jones and Pearson will likely be right back in, though stripped of committee assignments.)
Beyond the vote, while Troopers handled the first mob very professionally, only making one arrest that day, poor Justin Jones has filed a police report claiming he was assaulted by Republican Justin Lafferty. (Apparently, there are a lot of “Justins” in the legislature.) Jones, with a straight face, claimed, “Lafferty pushed me and stole my phone, and tried to incite a riot with his fellow members in this section of the House.” For his part, Lafferty says: “Jones came to my desk and as I turned he shoved his phone in my face in a threatening manner. I reacted as anyone would. Attempts to characterize this as anything else are misleading and false.”
And as predictable as the sunrise, Kamala Harris (she is Biden’s VP) popped into town, not to console the families of those slain at Covenant Christian school – she skipped that gathering – but to demonstrate solidarity with the “insurrectionists” – in other words, heat up the race-bait pot and promote more gun control.
Praising the “The Tennessee Three,” Harris stated that “chose to lead and show courage,” adding: “They understood the importance, these three, of standing to say the people will not be silenced, to say that a democracy hears the cries, hears the pleas, who hears the demands of its people… We understand when we took an oath to represent the people who elected us that we speak on behalf of them. It wasn’t about the three of these leaders. It was about who they were representing. it’s about whose voices they were channeling. Understand that – and is that not what a democracy allows?”
That’s right, another leftist invoking their “oath,” despite the fact like most, Harris has never had even a passing relationship with her obligation to “to support and defend” our Constitution.
She then insisted more gun laws would have prevented the attack last week, insisting, “Regarding the issue of gun safety laws, background checks, the policy is really pretty straightforward.” None of those “policies” would have prevented the assault last week.
In order to consummate this gender-confused, race-bait, gun control agenda combo, Joe Biden has now invited the Tennessee three to the White House, where perhaps he can present them the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
All in a day’s work here in Tennessee, which is one of 22 Republican trifecta states: Our governor is Republican, and the Senate and House have Republican majorities — which explains why Tennessee is among the most fiscally stable states nationally and among the most desirable places to live. However, Left Coast Demos, stay home.
Update: As soon as “Tennessee Three” agitators’ county commissions returned them to the legislature as temporary holders of the seats from which they were expelled, the trio led another occupation of the House, which is to say they have now, twice this month led protestors into the legislature, something for which J6 protestors were prosecuted and jailed.
Additionally, you know your home state is a threat to leftist Demos when its critics get invited to the White House. As anticipated, the clown show participants were hosted for a photo op by Biden and Harris. Biden declared: “You’re standing up for our kids, you’re standing up for our communities. What the Republican legislature did was shocking, it was undemocratic.” He then sent them home.
