Michelle Obama, who recently earned $750,000 for delivering one speech, is worried about the next election. “Terrified,” in fact. Well, aren’t we all?

The news is that the former first lady just threw Joe Biden under the bus.

During a podcast interview, Obama was asked, “What is the thing that keeps you up at night now?”

She gave a meandering answer that began with pointing to “the world that we’re in.” She explained: “There’s such a thing as knowing too much and when you’ve been married to the president of the United States, who knows everything about everything in the world, sometimes you just wanna turn it off. What keeps me up are the things that I know.”

Obama lamented that it’s really because “you don’t have control over” those things, intimating that the root cause here is that she has control issues, which is typical for tyrants. “I am terrified about what could possibly happen because our leaders matter, who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit,” she added, illustrating that being a bully is important to her. In a similar vein, she expressed dismay at people who don’t put their full faith in government: “The fact that people think that government, ehh, you know, does it really even do anything? And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, does government do everything for us.’”

For good measure, she repeated the absurd “democracy” trope: “We cannot take this democracy for granted and sometimes I worry that we do.” She’s probably among the 81% of Democrats who want to “save democracy” by banning Donald Trump, hundreds of congressional Republicans, and even Biden’s primary opponents from the ballot.

The 81-year-old Biden is going to “finish the job,” so what could she possibly be worried about?

Ah, but that’s just it, isn’t it? Michelle is giving a huge hint that she thinks Biden cannot or will not win in November.

It’s almost as if the doddering old man in the Oval Office is making her doubt her pride in America, which was only granted by the success of her husband in 2008.

Speaking of Barack Obama, The Wall Street Journal reports on the comments from “a person familiar with his thinking.” That person says Obama is worried “that Democrats very well could lose” in 2024 and that it’s “going to be a close race.” Biden’s not that great, but Obama thinks “the alternative is pretty dangerous for democracy.”

There’s that word again.

Yes, Barack Obama picked Joe Biden as his running mate in 2008, but he’s previously expressed doubts about his former Number Two. Early in 2020, Obama reportedly told a fellow Democrat, “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f*** things up.” In another conversation that year, he talked about the importance of bonding with voters, adding: “And you know who really doesn’t have it? Joe Biden.”

The former president pushed his veep to sit on the sidelines in 2016 to make room for Hillary Clinton, and then he waited until April 2020 — after it was clear Biden was going to win the Democrat nomination — to endorse him. He has, however, helped with a fundraising video last summer and urgent strategy sessions just last week for the 2024 campaign.

There’s no question the Obamas and virtually every other Democrat are worried about Biden, er, screwing things up and losing the 2024 election. Democrat Senators Dick Durbin and Chris Coons even advised him to skip debates with Trump. Keeping Biden’s exposure to a minimum will be important no matter who he faces.

Many Democrats are no doubt wishing they could nominate someone else — and not Kamala Harris, either.

How about … Michelle Obama?

Her name does keep coming up now and then, and she’s immensely popular. She’d also solve the Kamala problem by checking the same identity boxes for voters who may be outraged at the party passing over the current vice president, whose only qualification is that she’s black and female. Black women are threatening to boycott Biden, but we’ll believe that when we see it.

There’s just one problem. “I will not run for president,” Michelle Obama promised in 2016. “No, nope, not going to do it.” We believe her. The Obamas are fabulously wealthy and raking in money from speeches, memoirs, and Netflix. Her only responsibilities are podcast interviews and chilling at one of her many mansions — two on the oceans her husband’s election stopped from rising.

Is she so “terrified” about “democracy” that she’d give up that gig to run for the hardest job on the planet?
