Re: Newsom 2024 v. Second Amendment — Firearm Fiction v. Facts

“When I first read Alexander’s column 18 months ago asserting Biden would not be the nominee and the convention delegates would likely select Newsom, I thought that would be one way to rid our state of the Newsom nuisance. I did not put much stock in Alexander’s prediction, but I now think this was an amazing prediction. Problem is, as pleased as I would be to get Newsom out of California, I think he stands a much better chance of defeating Trump, and I certainly would not wish this scourge on our nation.” —California

“This is Mark Alexander at his best, both on his assessment of Newsom replacing Biden and his bullet points on the Second Amendment.” —Texas

Re: Scenes From a Commencement Protest

“Everywhere there are protests, outdoor projectors should be showing the films that the terrorists took during their massacre on October 7. Some would still deny it, but some would be horrified and changed. It’s the same way we made sure that everyone saw what the Nazis did to the Jews during World War II. As a freshman in college at SMU, I had to watch those films, as did every SMU freshman at the time.” —Texas

“These foreigners who come here and refuse to acclimate to the American way of life should either stay home or leave their conflicts behind when they step onto United States soil. These age-old conflicts are none of our business and just provide every hater of this constitutional republic a reason to ruin our lives and poison the minds and futures of our children. Go back to the countries that you love so much — and take your old grudges with you. Your bitter cultures and the hatred they spawn are not welcomed.” —North Carolina

Re: ‘No Stronger Record With Israel’?

“I find it very disturbing that these immature children’s demonstrating in support of Hamas and their vitriolic anti-Semitism are allowed to go on. I can only imagine that if the Hamas selfies were published, instead of only being shown to select groups of journalists and national leaders, that at least some of the female students would have a shred of decency to realize they are betraying their fellow sisters and have been duped into rooting for Hamas and walk away from their tantrum demonstrations.” —California

“Put aside Israel for the moment. Without intervention on many levels, Ukraine will ultimately fall under the pressing mass of soldiers and weapons at Russia’s disposal, and it will likely lose significant amounts of territory, if not the entire country. Granted, Ukraine isn’t only our problem. It’s Europe’s problem, and Europe — addicted to Putin’s oil and gas and terrified of nukes he’ll never use — is failing. As Michael Reagan alluded to last week, we made a promise to defend Ukraine, which we’re ultimately in the process of reneging on. By contrast, I’m at a loss as to why we’re sending aid to Israel in any form. It doesn’t need our money to defeat its pissant enemies. Is it so we can presume to tell the Israelis what to do?” —Oklahoma

“I continue to see Mr. Soros’s name mentioned. Why does he hold so much power, and does his money protect him that much? Does he control the ‘addlebrained ventriloquists’? Another oily name in this evil game might be the often left out Mr. Obama.” —California

Re: Four Officers Murdered — Demos Are Enabling Cop Killers

“As with all deaths committed by persons with a firearm, we are subjected to the extreme Left’s position that all guns are evil, that guns are the problem. But for those gun-controllers who call themselves people of faith, allow me to ask: Who killed Abel, a rock or his brother Cain?” —Virginia

“As a retired LEO and former Chief, what these politicians are doing to our country is disgraceful. We need to kick some butts and not kiss them.” —Georgia

Re: The Golden State’s Minimum Wage Job Killer

“My wife and I thank God and President Trump for our ability to sell our pizza stores in the Bay Area and move to Idaho in 2018, three years sooner than we planned. Those we sold to are looking to get out themselves. Newsom should abandon his presidential aspirations. This is a disaster.” —Idaho

Re: Tuesday Short Cuts

“Joe Biden’s comment — ‘Wages are rising faster than prices, incomes are higher than before the pandemic’ — does not take into account the millions of Americans who are living on fixed incomes. Their wages are not rising but their costs are still going up. In many cases, some of them can no longer afford a hamburger at McDonald’s, let alone a good meal at a nice restaurant. Furthermore, prices at the grocery store push proper diets out of reach. And gas prices strand some in their homes, preventing even modest travel. I guess none of this matters if a few people got a raise so the president can claim even a smattering of success to boast his failed presidency.” —Utah

Re: Wednesday Short Cuts

“To strengthen America’s economy, we are also helping more people buy a home.” —Kamala Harris

“Hmm. Shades of 2007-2008, anyone? How soon we forget. Of course, the seeds of that debacle can be traced back to the 1990s, but still. Those who ignore history are bound to repeat it.” —Washington

Re: Profiles of Valor: Roddie Edmonds

“This is an amazing account of an amazing decision by somebody, unlike Joe Biden, who did not check his polling before doing the right thing, and very likely an action that would cost him his life. ‘We are all Jews.’ Thank you, Roddie Edmonds.” —New York

“‘For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.’ (Luke 14:11)” —Arizona
