The Patriot Post® · Lefty Fever Dreams
The American electorate has spoken with a resounding “No” to wokeness, to radical leftism, and to the general direction that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have taken our country. Now the election postmortem has begun, and, naturally, the leading Leftmedia voices at The Washington Post and New York Times have decided to continue chiding the American people. How could you have elected this dictator? they caterwaul.
WaPo analyst Dan Balz outlined the policies they disagree with — deporting illegal immigrants, tariffs, and ending the war in Ukraine — but most importantly, the Post wants its readers to fear that as insufferable as Donald Trump was in his first term, he will be an even worse authoritarian leader in his second term. You know, because of that one time Trump said he’d be “dictator” for a day — a joke that was blown out of context and used for propaganda in the usual lefty fashion. The outfit also trotted out the “enemy within” chestnut to further emphasize that Trump’s election is a disaster.
Here is the crux of Balz’s concerns: “Trump has thumbed his nose at the Constitution. The repeated lie he has told for four years about the 2020 campaign having been stolen from him offers a textbook example of how he would seek to govern. He admires authoritarian leaders and seeks to be one, resisting the checks and balances the founders built into the Constitution.”
The article goes on to warn that foreign leaders are bracing for another round with this “uncertain, often erratic, leader.”
The only comfort Balz takes is thus: “If he tries to go to the extremes in his second term, he will butt up against obstacles: the courts (which consistently ruled against him after 2020), a closely divided Congress (where 60 votes will still be needed in the Senate on most issues), and his own lack of attention to the details of policy.”
The Times editorial board followed a similar apoplectic format. “Americans should now be wary of an incoming Trump administration that is likely to put a top priority on amassing unchecked power and punishing its perceived enemies, both of which Mr. Trump has repeatedly vowed to do,” the editors warn.
They take solace in the fact that the U.S. “has always emerged from a crucible with its ideals intact and often toughened and sharpened,” adding, “The institutions of our government, hardened by nearly 250 years of disputation, turmoil, assassinations and wars, held firm when Mr. Trump assailed them four years ago.”
However, they end with yet another dire warning: “Benjamin Franklin famously admonished the American people that the nation was ‘a republic, if you can keep it.’ Mr. Trump’s election poses a grave threat to that republic, but he will not determine the long-term fate of American democracy.”
What do they really mean when they say “democracy”? Democrats have been restructuring their own party and running it like an oligarchy in which top brass anoint the next leader without giving their constituents a chance to choose (see this past summer’s “Kamalafest Coronation”). Progressives only believe in free speech and the right to protest when it’s their causes that are being championed. Democracy is merely shorthand for getting what they want and having all the political power.
The Left should stop bemoaning Trump as a dictator; it’s so disingenuous. What Jew would stay in Germany if they knew what was coming after Adolf Hitler became chancellor? The answer, of course, is they wouldn’t. So, why are American leftists staying put while simultaneously throwing up this specter of a Hiltarian Trump? Either they are liars who don’t actually believe that Trump is a dictator, or they are fools. Frankly, they are probably both.
America is the last truly free society. No other country even comes close, and they know it. That’s why they’ll stay and continue to fearmonger from their armchairs — that is, after they’ve screamed in your face or showcased their latest narcissistic meltdown on TikTok.
