The Patriot Post® · Leftist Activist Engages in Possible Green Card Marriage Fraud
Becoming an American is a lot easier than it should be, especially with birthright citizenship being allowed to continue. (Thanks, SCOTUS.) However, there are other ways to circumvent the immigration process. One of them is through marriage to help procure a green card and eventually U.S. citizenship.
This particular method of exploitation made headlines recently thanks to an activist in California by the name of Laura Pinho, a high school dance teacher whose decision-making has increasingly devolved ever since she got involved with the communist-linked, antisemitic group CODEPINK.
During a June webinar for CODEPINK, titled “Challenging Zionism In Our Schools,” Pinho seemed to admit that she had contrived to use her status as an American citizen to enter into a marriage with a man from Gaza so she could provide reparations of sorts.
“I have power as an American citizen,” Pinho said. “I have a passport that I was just born with. And how can I live in this world if I don’t make every effort to equalize the playing field on whatever way that I can?”
Pinho married Salem S.E. Abu Amra online back in April. She was able to do so by traveling to Utah, the only state that will marry people in this manner.
Pinho did not mention that fact about her marriage during the webinar because her partner, with whom she shares children, was within earshot and she didn’t want him to know. While they are not bound through marriage, their relationship had been on the rocks for about three years.
After the marriage went public, Pinho’s partner, Derek J. Reid, was shocked. He told the New York Post that their domestic partnership had been dissolving over the Israel-Hamas conflict. “She’s been radicalized,” Reid explained, adding, “I’m worried for her.”
As for Abu Amra, Pinho had been sponsoring and raising money for him, telling potential donors that he is the sole provider for his family of five and is scrounging for food. According to the Post, Abu Amra has often posted his support for Hamas. He is not exactly the kind of person that any sane American should want within our borders. However, for Pinho, “Free Palestine” trumps love of country.
Pinho is now telling people that she is “wildly in love” with Abu Amra. However, in light of her earlier comments and radical pro-Palestinian political stance, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is very skeptical and is looking into Pinho.
If Pinho is found guilty of immigration fraud, she could face up to five years in prison and have to pay $250,000 in fines.
Former federal prosecutor Michael Wildes says, “Marriage fraud is one of the top five crimes you can perpetrate. … The fact that somebody would be foolish enough to say they actually did it makes it actionable for the federal government to investigate.”
We are well aware of how green card fraud is alive and well in America today. Why wouldn’t people keep committing such fraud when a sitting U.S. congresswoman, Ilhan Omar, has gotten away with it?
Radical leftists like Laura Pinho value their own causes more than their fellow Americans. They would marry a terrorist supporter and give him rights, potentially endangering fellow citizens out of some misguided hatred of Israel and the U.S. These are the actions of a traitor. Pinho’s exploitative actions are showing where the biggest cracks are in immigration law. These laws should be tightened up.
