Australian PM Tony Abbott angered ecoalarmists several months ago by scrubbing climate change from the agenda at the upcoming G20 summit in Brisbane, Queensland. Now he’s got them downright infuriated after conservative lawmakers made good on a promise to repeal Australia’s economically crushing carbon tax. “The Senate voted 39 to 32 to axe the 24.15 Australian dollar ($22.60) tax per metric ton of carbon dioxide that was introduced by the center-left Labor government in July 2012,” reports the AP. “Conservative lawmakers burst into applause as the final tally was announced.” Abbott praised the result, saying, “[T]he tax that you voted to get rid of is finally gone: a useless, destructive tax which damaged jobs, which hurt families’ cost of living and which didn’t actually help the environment.” Abbott is no global warming denier as some pundits claim.
