The Patriot Post® · Progressive College Snowflakes Go Full-Blown Fascist
America’s colleges and universities, so-called institutions of “higher learning,” were once considered among the most prestigious such institutions in the world. Today, they are festering cauldrons of victimhood, mental instability, progressive indoctrination and fascist violence. The inmates, as the saying goes, have taken control of the asylum.
One recent example of this insanity occurred at progressive enclave Evergreen State College in Washington state. In the 1970s, in order to show solidarity with black students, and better understand their plight in a white-dominated world, the college instituted a “Day of Absence” wherein black students left campus for a day to show the innately racist white students and faculty just how much black students matter. This year, however, instead of black students staying off campus, some students proposed all white students and faculty be “invited” to stay off campus.
Biology professor Bret Weinstein objected, sending an email to his colleagues elucidating his reasoning: “There is a huge difference between a group or coalition deciding to voluntarily absent themselves from a shared space in order to highlight their vital and under-appreciated roles, and a group or coalition encouraging another group to go away. The first is a forceful call to consciousness which is, of course, crippling to the logic of oppression. The second is a show of force, and an act of oppression in and of itself.”
That’s when all hell broke loose. Following his email, Weinstein was accosted outside of his classroom by a howling horde of offended SJW snowflakes, who cursed and screamed and issued not-so-veiled threats against him, calling him a racist and demanding his resignation (despite his being a self-proclaimed progressive Bernie Sanders supporter).
Instead of bringing in campus police to quell the mob, college president George Bridges told police to “stand down,” thereby allowing the rabid throng to take over the campus, which they promptly did. Proving Winston Churchill’s axiom that an appeaser is someone who feeds a crocodile hoping it will eat him last, after Weinstein fled campus and put his family in hiding for their own safety, the mob then turned on Bridges, issuing a list of demands a mile long. And even though Bridges promptly fulfilled 95% of the mob demands, and promised no action would be taken against the students who issued the threats, they still cursed at him and called him a racist.
In the days that followed, a protest and a counter-protest was staged, with one group supporting the college’s actions, and the other opposing it. The counter-protest was staged by a group called Patriot Prayer, which was demonstrating in support of President Donald Trump, and against Evergreen State’s politically correct silencing of free speech.
The conservative group recently was at the center of a demonstration that spun out of control when masked antifa (self-proclaimed anti-fascists who are, in reality, fascists) thugs gathered with bricks, knives and other weapons, ostensibly to “stand against hate and racism,” which they accomplished by assaulting the peaceful, pro-Trump demonstrators.
Sadly, this type of thuggish behavior has become the norm on many college campuses. Earlier this year, progressive protestors at UC Berkeley rioted over a planned speech by right-wing homosexual commentator Milo Yiannopoulos, breaking windows, setting fire to cars and buildings, and threatening bystanders. As with Evergreen, the police and administration at Berkeley stood by and let the thugs destroy property and assault innocent people.
These precious little SJW snowflakes melt down when exposed to an opposing opinion, losing their minds and spewing the most hateful rhetoric while simultaneously demanding silence from those who disagree (and even those who agree, if they are white).
These are no longer isolated incidents. In just the first four months of this year, progressive students rioted at Claremont-McKenna College over a speech by conservative author Heather Mac Donald, and students at Middlebury College violently protested against a speech by conservative political scientist Charles Murray. Masked students protested at the University of Chicago over a speech by former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski. These are just a few of many such instances.
The delicious irony of this is that the radical progressive activists of the 60s who infiltrated institutions of “higher” learning, becoming professors and administrators who nurtured and stoked this culture of victimhood, urging students to fight back against the so-called oppression of the white patriarchal establishment, through violence if necessary, now find themselves the targets of the hatred and violence they have sown.
