In the latest episode of Stop Saying Stupid Sh-t, we have a rematch of the Corker-Trump brawl. Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) threw the first punch, saying, “For young people to be watching, not only here in our country, but around the world, someone of this mentality as president of the United States is something that is I think debasing to our country. You would think he would aspire to be the president of the United States and act like a president of the United States. But that’s just not going to be the case, apparently.”

That’s some way to kick off President Donald Trump’s meeting with Senate Republicans to work on strategy for tax reform.

As he always does, Trump punched back: “Bob Corker, who helped President O give us the bad Iran Deal & couldn’t get elected dog catcher in Tennessee, is now fighting Tax Cuts. Corker dropped out of the race in Tennesse [sic] when I refused to endorse him, and now is only negative on anything Trump. Look at his record!”

Corker threw a return jab: “Same untruths from an utterly untruthful president. #AlertTheDaycareStaff.” The hashtag was a reference to his previous insult about the White House being “adult day care” for the president.

Back to Trump for a left hook: “Sen. Corker is the incompetent head of the Foreign Relations Committee, & look how poorly the U.S. has done. He doesn’t have a clue as the entire World WAS laughing and taking advantage of us. People like liddle’ Bob Corker have set the U.S. way back. Now we move forward!”

Corker concluded by saying, given the chance, he would not support Trump again for president, in part because he “has great difficulty with the truth.”

Trump and Corker both need to knock it off and get back to the business of advancing a conservative agenda for the American people. These personal attacks and petulant name-calling is just absurd for two leaders of the GOP.
