The Patriot Post® · 'Recanting' Fraud Claims?
As we have been duly reminded, THE ELECTION IS NOT OVER. At least President Donald Trump has not conceded defeat to Joe Biden, and Trump and his campaign are still waging numerous legal battles alleging massive voter fraud in several key states.
That brings us to some fake news regarding the Pennsylvania legal challenge. “Postal worker recanted allegations of ballot tampering, officials say,” reads a Washington Post headline.
Except, no, he didn’t.
The Post’s story is about “Richard Hopkins’s claim that a postmaster in Erie, Pa., instructed postal workers to backdate ballots mailed after Election Day.” Hopkins’s allegation of organized ballot tampering “was cited by Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) in a letter to the Justice Department calling for a federal investigation. Attorney General William P. Barr subsequently authorized federal prosecutors to open probes into credible allegations of voting irregularities and fraud before results are certified, a reversal of long-standing Justice Department policy.”
The Post does acknowledge that Hopkins denies recanting, but the paper still ran with a story asserting in the headline that he did. Adding “officials say” is the Post’s sleazy way to still make the, at best, disputed claim.
And we all know that sometimes people don’t read stories; they stop with the headline.
But wait, there’s more. According to Hopkins and Project Veritas, for whom he wore a wire during four hours of questioning by investigators, the “recanting” was coerced. “They forced him to execute this watered-down lukewarm affidavit,” said Jered Ede, chief legal counsel for Project Veritas. “They did so during an interrogation where again they denied him the opportunity to be represented by counsel even though he confirmed with them that he had counsel.” Worse, Ede said, the investigator was “a fixer sent in to one job and one job only, and that is to come out with a recanting of the allegations, and he didn’t leave until he had it.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Hopkins, a Marine combat veteran who served in Afghanistan, is on “non-pay status” with the Post Office while this fiasco plays out.
Clearly, Democrats will do whatever it takes to “win” an election. That obviously includes voter fraud, so why wouldn’t it include intimidating witnesses of that fraud? We said before the election that it was between Trump and the Mob. If Hopkins and Project Veritas are indeed telling the truth, then it’s Mob tactics to a T. And the Leftmedia happily serves as the Mob’s messengers, all while assuring us, as the Associated Press does in its headline, “States cite smooth election, despite Trump’s baseless claims.”
The 2016 election was smooth, too, except for the media’s baseless claims about Trump’s supposed “collusion” with Russia. Baseless claims begun by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and that undermined the first three years of Trump’s presidency, only to be followed by more baseless claims that led to a bogus impeachment. But yeah, other than that, it was smooth.
