Joe Biden has a long history of spinning yarn. In fact, one might be inclined to conclude that it’s his modus operandi. And one of his favorite lies of late is the false claim that America is a deeply racist nation.

Speaking at the 100-year anniversary of the Tulsa massacre, Biden asserted, “Terrorism from white supremacy is the most lethal threat to the homeland today.” He even went so far as to claim that white supremacy, a term he loves to throw out while never defining it, poses a graver threat to our nation than al-Qaida or ISIS.

Is Biden seriously that mentally gone as to not recognize just how absurd his claim is? Never mind how deeply offensive it is. Does he not recall the horrors of 9/11, thousands of innocent Americans dead, all at the hands of jihadi terrorists? Or what about the rise of ISIS and its barbaric brutality? It certainly was not what Barack Obama dubbed the “jayvee team” when it came to dishing out terrorism, including the gruesome mass murder of victims unfortunate enough to be caught in its self-declared caliphate.

Moreover, where are all these white supremacists terrorizing Americans? No one seems to know. In fact, there is simply no data to justify such a false and divisive claim. But as noted above, peddling fiction is how Biden plies his trade.

As “proof” of this dangerous threat of white supremacy supposedly facing the nation, Biden cited Republican-led state efforts to pass election integrity laws. Touting HR 1, the effort by Democrats to ensure their control of government in perpetuity, Biden insisted, “This sacred right [to vote] is under assault with an incredible intensity like I’ve never seen. … It is simply un-American.” Efforts to safeguard our elections with voter ID laws are thus deemed “racist” and a greater threat than jihadi terrorists.

Biden attempted to further “prove” his charge of America’s “deep racism” by obtusely claiming that “young black entrepreneurs are just as capable of succeeding given the chance as white entrepreneurs are, but they don’t have lawyers, they don’t have accountants.” So, who’s the racist again?

However, Biden then effectively blew up his entire odious claim of white supremacy when he opined about television advertising: “Those of you who are over 50, how often did you ever see advertisements on television with black and white couples? Not a joke. I challenge you, find today when you turn on the stations, sit on one station for two hours, and I don’t know how many commercials you’ll see — two or three out of five have mixed race couples in them. That’s not by accident. They’re selling soap, man. Not a joke. Remember old Pat Caddell used to say, ‘You want to know what’s happening in American culture? Watch advertising,’ because they want to sell what they have.”

As Power Line’s Paul Mirengoff observes, Biden makes a point he probably didn’t intend: “Advertising is still about selling. If America had an ‘implicit bias’ problem, you wouldn’t see so many ads with black/white couples. You would hardly see any. So too, if America had a ‘systemic racism’ problem or, indeed, a serious problem of ordinary racism.”

Besides, this isn’t a new phenomenon, even if Biden is just now discovering it. For the last two decades at least, there has been an increasingly concerted effort to make entertainment, including TV advertising, reflect the diversity of our country. Aside from the division caused by Democrat race-baiting, Americans are more tolerant than ever before.

Rather than celebrating the fact that America has come a long way from past racist actions, however, Biden is hell-bent on dividing the country and painting all those who voted for Donald Trump as “white supremacists” and the biggest threat to “democracy.” And he calls this unity.
