Biden and Harris: The Great Uniters?

If Biden and Harris had an ounce of genuine interest in “unity,” they would…

“The influence of your personal character moderates the divisions of political parties…” —George Washington (1789)

In 1829, after being sworn into office for his first term by Chief Justice John Marshall on the East Portico of the U.S. Capitol, President Andrew Jackson, a heroic War of 1812 general from Tennessee, delivered brief inaugural remarks. Then, following a tradition started by Thomas Jefferson, Jackson, a populist, hosted a public open house reception at the White House. So many citizens showed up for the food, drink and festivities (estimated in excess of 10,000) that later in the evening, Jackson had to leave through a window and spend the night in a hotel.

Presidential open houses continued for seven decades until Grover Cleveland opted for a grand parade, much to the applause of the White House stewards and staff.

Things were a little different in Washington today – under full military lockdown – for the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States, with Kamala Harris, his could soon-to-be successor because we all know Biden has long past his cognitive expiration date.

Biden’s inauguration was attended by Barack Obama and Michelle, George W. Bush and Laura, and Bill and Hillary Clinton. While Donald Trump declined to be present, having earlier delivered his final address, former Vice President Mike Pence represented the Trump administration.

Biden’s inaugural theme was “America United,” in which he laid out his plan to “unify and heal the nation.”

Ahead of the inauguration, Biden outlined this theme in a lengthy statement on his campaign website: “My fellow Americans, The people of this nation have spoken. They have delivered us a clear victory. A convincing victory. A victory for ‘We the People.’” Biden continued, “I pledge to be a President who seeks not to divide, but to unify. Who doesn’t see Red and Blue states, but a United States. … I sought this office to restore the soul of America. … To … unite us here at home.”

On election night, after listing all the leftist identity groups they had cultivated in order to divide and conquer, Biden insisted: “To those who voted for President Trump, I understand your disappointment tonight. … It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric. To lower the temperature. To see each other again. To listen to each other again. To make progress, we must stop treating our opponents as our enemy. … The Bible tells us that to everything there is a season — a time to build, a time to reap, a time to sow. And a time to heal. This is the time to heal in America. … I ran as a proud Democrat. I will now be an American president. I will work as hard for those who didn’t vote for me as [for] those who did. Let this grim era of demonization in America begin to end — here and now. … We must restore the soul of America. … A nation united.”

In Biden’s brief and relatively lucid inaugural remarks today, he repeated the “unity” (read “conformity”) theme along with a other canards (with my annotations):

“I’ve just taken the sacred oath … the oath first sworn by George Washington.” (That would be the oath “to support and defend” our Constitution, which Biden and most Democrats violate every minute of every day.)

“To restore the soul and secure the future of America requires so much more than words. It requires the most elusive of all things in a democracy — unity. Unity.” (We are a Republic, and for Biden/Harris, “unity” is nothing more than a word.)

“Today, on this January day, my whole soul is in this: bringing America together, uniting our people, uniting our nation. And I ask every American to join me in this cause. Uniting to fight the foes we face, anger, resentment and hatred, extremism, lawlessness, violence…” (I think you know who Biden identifies as the “foes.”)

“I know speaking of unity can sound to some like a foolish fantasy these days.” (Only for those who think Biden is sincere.)

“Politics doesn’t have to be a raging fire, destroying everything in its path. Every disagreement doesn’t have to be a cause for total war.” (Tell that to your raging mobs who spent last summer burning, looting, and murdering in urban centers across the nation.)

“We must end this uncivil war that pits red against blue, rural versus urban, conservative versus liberal.” (But the Democrat Party would not exist without constantly fanning the flames of “this uncivil war.”)

“The right to dissent peaceably … is perhaps this nation’s greatest strength.” (Tell that to your Leftmedia propagandists and your BigTech silencer mobs.)

“I pledge this to you: I will be a president for all Americans, all Americans. I promise you, I will fight as hard for those who did not support me as for those who did.” (C'mon man…)

“My fellow Americans, I close the day where I began, with a sacred oath before God and all of you. I give you my word, I will always level with you. I will defend the Constitution. I’ll defend our democracy.” (Again with the Constitution and “democracy.”)

Biden concluded, “May God bless America and may God protect our troops. Thank you, America.”

So, about all that unity chatter…

A uniter is a peacemaker and reconciler. But Democrat Party principals, including Biden and Harris, have spent decades dividing up constituencies in order to foment discontent and dependence. Democrats have cultivated “entitled victim” underclasses, the direct result of their socialist policies, and those ensnared and enslaved by Democrats are key political constituencies (read: dependencies) upon which the Democrats’ statist power relies.

The net result is not a party defined by Biden’s fake “unity” theme but a collective of groups defined by disunity, anger, and victimhood, and tied to their racial, ethnic, or gender characteristics. There can be no “unity” as long as Democrats continue to promote this sort of disunity.

If Biden and Harris had any genuine interest in unity, they would not have based their campaign on hate and division. Of course, division is the staple of the Democrat Party, and has been for generations. Democrats only “win” the battle if they can divide and conquer. To that end, on their campaign website Biden declared: “I pledge to be a President who seeks not to divide, but to unify.”

He then referenced all their divided political identity constituencies… Of Harris, Biden said she “will make history as the first woman, first Black woman, first woman of South Asian descent, and first daughter of immigrants,” adding “America has bent the arc of the moral universe towards justice.” In other words, as he said about Barack Obama, Harris is “the first mainstream African-American presidential candidate who is articulate and bright and clean-cut and a nice-looking…I mean, that’s a storybook, man!”

Yes, Harris would be the first woman president, assuming Democrats are still willing to distinguish between the genders.

BTW, despite the fact that Harris’s parents were from India and Jamaica, the racist Demo Party refers to her as “African-American.” Why? She is every bit as much “Asian American.”

Then he mentioned their “coalition” by identity group: “Young and old. Urban, suburban and rural. Gay, straight, transgender. White. Latino. Asian. Native American. And especially for those moments when this campaign was at its lowest — the African American community stood up again for me. They always have my back, and I’ll have yours.”

If Biden and Harris had any genuine interest in unity, they would condemn in the strongest words the coup d'état by their deep-state operatives to take down the Trump administration, even though it’s now more clear than ever that the Russia-collusion accusations were completely fabricated.

If Biden and Harris had any genuine interest in unity, they would condemn in the strongest words their first baseless impeachment charade their party launched after their Russian delusion failed.

If Biden and Harris had any genuine interest in unity, they would condemn in the strongest words their party’s politicization of the ChiCom Virus pandemic, hanging their 2020 election strategy on pandemic fear and casting blame.

If Biden and Harris had any genuine interest in unity, they would condemn in the strongest words their party’s politicization of the death of a black Minneapolis man and disavow their assertion that the nation is awash in “systemic racism.”

Fact is, the Democrat Party was, is, and will continue to be the agents of Black oppression. Demonstrably, the socialist Democrats are now, simultaneously, the historical author and political beneficiary of the systemic racism which they have institutionalized over the last century. It is Democrat policies which have kept generations of poor mostly-Black Americans ensnared and enslaved on urban poverty plantations – which they both seeded and institutionalized over the last century. The Democrat Party platform has, by design, kept poor people in bondage to the welfare state and consequently, is the blueprint for the most enduring racial exploitation architecture in America.

Democrats are the party of division and hate, and they built their entire “Hate Trump” platform on that theme. Biden is reaping what they sow.

If Biden and Harris had any genuine interest in unity, they would condemn in the strongest words their party’s use of the pandemic as cover to implement their bulk-mail ballot fraud strategy and make it a permanent voting option.

If Biden and Harris had any genuine interest in unity, they would condemn in the strongest words their party’s second impeachment charade, this time against a now-former president, using the Capitol riot to inflict maximum damage on Donald Trump – and by extension all his former administration supporters – in order to ensure that he, and we, are lightning rods for any further violence, which Demos are baiting. (Depending on the outcome of U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation, Trump may have the last laugh.)

If Biden and Harris had any genuine interest in unity, they would not have ordered the Department of Homeland Security to issue a national terrorism alert (the first in years) about anti-government extremists, though admitting “DHS does not have any information to indicate a specific, credible plot.” Even if you weren’t among the few hundred Capitol building rioters, you might harbor impure and unhealthy thoughts about the Democrats’ bulk-mail balloting fraud in the November election, or about the usurpation and trampling of our Liberties by an unholy alliance between the Democrat political machine, the Leftmedia and Big Tech.

If Biden and Harris had any genuine interest in unity, they would condemn in the strongest words the emerging systemic redlining of First Amendment rights by their leftist brethren in Big Tech.

If Biden and Harris had any genuine interest in unity, they would condemn in the strongest words comments like these from their most adoring Leftmedia talking heads: “Trump and his people, conservative outlets like Fox News, and then conservative websites and organizations aligned with the president and conservative platforms. These three pillars of this disinformation industrial complex essentially helped put Trump in power, kept him in power, sustained his grip on the Republican Party, and it remains a threat to our democracy. And until that poison, that toxin is drained from the national political discourse in this country … I do think that these forces represent a potential existential threat to this country…” That is CNN’s Jim Acosta calling half of America poison toxins that must be “drained from the national political discourse.” (Isn’t this the kind of hateful political rhetoric that should get CNN banned from social media?)

And, of course, the Democrats’ legislative agenda is anything but unifying, especially if they attempt to eliminate the filibuster in order to pack the Supreme Court and cancel the Electoral College so the voters in a few massive urban centers can elect our presidents and rule the nation. I certainly hope they fail, and fail big.

In fact, as soon as Biden was sworn in, he went to the Oval Office and signed 17 executive orders to launch his reversal of Trump administration policies, and launch a direct assault on his concept of “unity.” Ironically, one was to halt the construction of any additional border barriers – ironic given the military presence he ordered to form a barrier around his inauguration.

The nation’s greatest presidents, its first, George Washington, and most recent, Ronald Reagan, were, first and foremost, devoted to American Liberty, as should be the first obligation of every president – and every member of the legislature and judiciary. But Biden has no conceptual intellectual framework for comprehending the primacy of that devotion. Instead, his devotion, and that of his Democrats, is solely to aggregating statist power.

Make no mistake, as Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) observed: “Democrats are very sore winners.”

City Journals’ Heather Mac Donald notes, “Biden rattled off a litany of white America’s sins: the ‘harsh, ugly reality’ of ‘racism, nativism, fear, [and] demonization’; ‘anger, resentment, hatred, [and] extremism.’ He did not name white Americans as such, but he did not need to. That qualifier is inherent in the language he chose to adopt. … It’s an odd way to seek national unity: call a significant portion of the American public white supremacists, racists, and nativists. Welcome to the Biden presidency.”

Challenging Biden’s “unity” (AKA “submission”) theme, political analyst David Harsanyi concludes: “Political unity is an ugly, authoritarian idea. No free nation has domestic political unity, nor should it aspire to it. What ‘unity’ really means is capitulation. … Unity is found in comity with your neighbors, in your churches and schools, in your everyday interactions with your community. Politics is not a place for unity. It is a place for airing grievances. And we’ve got plenty.” As policy analyst Josh Lawson notes, if Biden really wants unity, he will affirm equality under the law as did Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.

I would note that there is a distinction between political unity and civic unity, though civility should be the aim in both contexts. Biden’s use of political unity is tantamount to political submission, the conformity associated with tyranny. To that end, we should not confuse political unity with civility.

As James Madison argued in Federalist #10 regarding factional politics in a “well constructed Union”: “By a faction, I understand a number of citizens, whether amounting to a majority or a minority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adversed to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community. … There are again two methods of removing the causes of faction: the one, by destroying the liberty which is essential to its existence; the other, by giving to every citizen the same opinions, the same passions, and the same interests.”

But the egregious erosion of constitutional Rule of Law by the Democrat’s advocacy for rule of men, has reduced our “well constructed Union” to a factional contest between those on the right who seek to uphold Liberty and those on the left seeking to destroy it.

More to the point, as Thomas Jefferson wrote, “Men by their constitutions are naturally divided into two parties.” And that division right now is critical to the future of American Liberty.

A few other parting observations from the day…

Democrats claimed that the “Trump supporters” who rioted in the Capitol building (and would otherwise be defined as “peaceful protesters” by the Demos’ standard) made our nation look like a “banana republic.”

What really looks like a banana republic was having to activate 26,000 military personnel to protect the “peaceful transfer of power” (a 26:1 military-to-civilian attendee ratio). This necessitated running background checks on military personnel to ensure an attack would not come from within. If Biden and Harris had an ounce of genuine interest in unity, no barriers would be required at their inauguration. (As soon as the Demos were done with the military theater, they kicked them to the curb.)

The capital looked like an allied-occupied war zone — a lockdown as overdone as the Demo virus lockdowns across the nation. Of course, it was mostly political theater and grossly disproportionate to the threat. At least accommodations were made for dissenting voices — two Orwellian “First Amendment zones” limited to 100 people.

For the record, recall that on the day of Trump’s inauguration in 2017, thousands of Demo-leftists rioted in DC, and hundreds were arrested on felony rioting charges. However, prosecutors dropped the charges against all those leftist protesters.

And it was just six months ago that leftist mobs attempted to storm the White House, injuring dozens of Secret Service agents — when that failed, setting fire to St. John’s Church across Lafayette Square.

With the Biden/Harris regime now in office, the biggest winner beyond the tidal wave of Democrat socialists, is Red China, the nation that poses the most perilous existential threat to the United States. They bet big on Biden and their investment in “the Big Guy” is paying rich dividends.

On March 4, 1861, Abraham Lincoln closed his first inaugural address with these words: “We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battle-field and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”

Those were fine sentiments, but a month earlier, of the 34 states at that time, seven Southern states had declared secession and that grew to 11 states and much of two more. A “civil war” would follow from April 12, 1861 to May 9, 1865, costing some 620,000 lives.

Perhaps it is time that those states still populated by a majority of grassroots Patriots to establish a Constitutional Confederation of States – an alliance with the purpose of re-adopting our authentic Constitution as originally ratified, with amendments attached as prescribed. This alliance would thus reject the so-called “living constitution” that has now adulterated our actual Constitution almost beyond recognition.

Finally, for perspective, here is some good news moving forward: Despite all the handwringing about political divisions on the Right, that split is over support for Trump, the personality. There is no split over support for the Trump administration’s considerable policy successes. As Biden and his Democrats endeavor to undo those policies that will have the net effect of further unifying conservatives going into the 2022 midterms.
