“I felt really sorry for that pathetic loser,” said Donald Trump, who added: “So, I decided I would let him win so that I would look like a genius next to him! Gas prices? He blew it! Afghanistan? What a mess! If I were in charge, none of this would have happened. Everyone says so. All the best people say so.”

Were this true, it’d be the most brilliant chess move since Shirov’s stunning bishop sacrifice. (We can hear Trump now: Shirov is a total disgrace, and that move was minor league compared to what I did to the Democrats on November 3.) But think about it: Had Republicans not allowed the Democrats to perpetrate their bulk-mail ballot fraud on the nation last year, Donald Trump — who hauled in 12 million more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016 — would still be president. But were he still president, nothing he’d be doing right now would’ve destroyed the Democrat brand as thoroughly as the Biden administration has since then.

We might sound like a broken record, but eight months into the Biden presidency, it’s hard to imagine things being any worse for him or his party. There’s a stench that surrounds this administration like that traveling dirt cloud that followed Pig Pen wherever he went. Failure and banana peels now seem to follow Joe Biden wherever he goes.

Of course, failure this colossal doesn’t just happen overnight; it has to be coaxed down the stairs one step at a time. And that’s exactly what the Biden administration has been doing since Scranton Joe’s inauguration on January 20. “August 2021 will probably be remembered as the month when Joe Biden’s presidency was holed below the waterline,” writes the editorial board of the Washington Examiner. “September is the month when it started to sink. Biden is beset by several disasters at once. All the blame is his, for they flow from his dumb, stubborn, and ideological moves immediately after he was sworn in.”

In defense of the 50-year swamp dweller, it’s hard to lead a nation when less than half of its people think you’re mentally competent to serve as president. But in reproach of First Lady Jill Biden, she more than anyone else could’ve protected her cognitively declining husband — and the rest of us — from all this.

Most recently, we learned that the Biden administration can’t even conduct a competent drone strike. Instead, in its haste to appear tough following the avoidable loss of 13 of our warriors in a Kabul suicide bombing, it conducted a disastrous attack on a non-terrorist target, killing 10 innocent people, seven of them children.

Nor can it keep from alienating our allies, as evidenced by France’s recall of its U.S. ambassador. Good thing “America is back,” as Biden smugly proclaimed at the G7 Summit a few months back.

Team Biden and its Leftmedia lickspittles, all of them desperate to patch this fatal hole amidships, have thus resorted to talk of “self-inflicted wounds” and of making “core competence” “more believable.” Just ask the Washington Post’s reliably left-wing David Ignatius. Indeed, the Biden administration is having trouble convincing its friends in the media that it’s even competent.

Talk about a low bar.
