The Patriot Post® · Washington Post Decries Lack of Civility
It’s getting tougher and tougher to run interference for Joe Brandon Biden. Just ask The Washington Post.
Biden, from a policy standpoint, seems every bit as terrible a president as Barack Obama was, or Hillary Clinton might have been. But Biden, being a white male, has none of the protective armament of his half-black Democrat predecessor or his female Democrat non-predecessor. Instead, since his ever-growing legions of detractors have no fear of being tarred by the predictable “RACIST!” or “SEXIST!” smear each time they criticize him, Biden gets every sling and arrow he deserves. And for those reasons — his crappy policies and his unfortunate white maleness — it’s open season on Scranton Joe.
Perhaps you’ve heard: There’s a catchy anti-Biden chant that’s sweeping the nation — a chant that the aforementioned Post and its Leftmedia ilk have been trying manfully to ignore or at least bowdlerize.
“Biden’s critics hurl increasingly vulgar taunts,” laments the Post’s headline, and the article goes on to list one uncivil infraction after another.
Eventually, the Post’s reporters arrive at a suitable surrogate through whom to decry the vulgarity of the attacks on Biden. That would be Michigan Democrat Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin, a “centrist” who, they say, “supports freedom of speech” but who also found the use of crude language to be “distasteful.”
“What I think was really disappointing was the profanity and the sort of really over-the-top, heinous things that people wrote on signs, just blocks from a school,” Slotkin said. “And I think it reflects that there is a strain in the country right now of people who are angry and they’ve sort of lost their decency and civility.”
Spare us the crocodile tears.
Where was the congresswoman — indeed, where was any Democrat — during the previous four years of the Trump administration, when “decency and civility” went right out the window? When a “Saturday Night Live” writer tabbed Donald Trump’s son Baron as “this country’s first homeschool shooter”? Or when “The Daily Show’s” Trevor Noah promoted the idea that the president wanted to have sex with his daughter Ivanka? Or when “comedienne” Kathy Griffin held up that fake severed head of Trump? Or when esteemed actor Robert DeNiro shouted “F— Trump” during the Tony Awards? Or when Democrat Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib said at a victory party, “We’re gonna go in there and we’re gonna impeach the motherf—.”
And so, the Post’s call for a return to civility was rich indeed. And it got even richer when the Post reported that the audience at a recent speech in Georgia by Donald Trump Jr. had broken into a chant of “Let’s go Brandon!”
Really? There’s not a sentient being among us who thinks that’s what this crowd was saying.
Eventually, the Post had to come clean. It had to issue what Don Jr. called, with classic Trumpian understatement, “the greatest correction in the history of journalism.”
Wrote the editors at the Post: “A previous version of this article incorrectly said a crowd broke into a ‘Let’s go Brandon’ chant during a Donald Trump Jr. speech in Georgia. The crowd broke into a ‘F— Joe Biden!’ chant at that speech in September. The error, which was inserted by an editor, has been corrected.”
Recall that the whole “Let’s go Brandon” thing started because of media gaslighting. Now, they can’t even tell the difference. In any case, the unbowdlerized passage in the Post article now reads: “‘There’s a couple other chants I’ve been hearing going around,’ Trump Jr. said. ‘Have you heard the other one that’s been going around?’ The crowd took the cue and broke into cries of ‘F— Joe Biden!’”
So they did. Much to the chagrin of The Washington Post.
