Democrat desperation heading into the midterms is beginning to reach a fever pitch, as Joe Biden went down to Georgia to rail against the Peach State’s election integrity laws and sell his big “voting rights” lie. But Biden’s time machine failed to transport him back to Jim Crow-era Georgia in every respect except within his own diminishing mind. As he attempted to paint Republican efforts to prevent election abuse and fraud as a blatant and racist attempt to take away the right to vote from minorities, it’s clear that the vast majority of Americans aren’t buying into the misleading rhetoric. Indeed, judging by his tanking popularity, Biden may just be about the worst Democrat politician to sell such a nonsensical narrative of “democracy under threat” — well, second only to his “president,” Kamala Harris, who’s outpacing Biden in unpopularity.

The trouble for Biden is that it’s not the party’s base he needs to convince, but rather Democrat Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. He needs them to buy into the nonsense notion that eliminating the Senate filibuster so as to pass major voting legislation is the way to “save democracy.” In short, rejecting the Founders’ wisely designed framework of checks and balances to limit governmental abuse of power will give rise to a form of government they explicitly rejected. It’s sheer lunacy, but with a willing and sympathetic press, Biden and the Democrats continue to get away with such fantasy.

So, what do the desperate Democrats do? If they were interested in being rational and honest, they’d immediately drop their hyper-partisan attempt to unilaterally transform American election law and focus on issues that matter most to Americans, such as addressing spiking inflation, shoring up a COVID-ravaged jobs market, or tackling the growing supply chain crisis. But Democrats have chosen to go all in on federalizing elections and recently called in one of their biggest guns to support the cause.

Michelle Obama recently announced that her organization When We All Vote will be joining with 30 other organizations in an effort to get one million new voters registered before the 2022 election.

Predictably, Obama parroted Biden’s disingenuous Jim Crow narrative: “This type of voter suppression is not new. Generations of Americans have persevered through poll taxes, literacy tests and laws designed to strip away their power — and they’ve done it by organizing, by protesting and most importantly, by overcoming the barriers in front of them in order to vote. And now, we’ve got to do the same. We’ve got to vote like the future of our democracy depends on it. And we must give Congress no choice but to act decisively to protect the right to vote and make the ballot box more accessible for everyone.”

Of course, whenever Democrats say “the future of democracy is at stake,” what they really mean is that the future of the Democrat Party in control of government is at stake. That’s a far cry from the American election process being endangered. The notion that Americans freely voting for Republicans represents a threat to the democratic process is about as absurd as politics gets.

The more interesting angle here may be questions about what — or who — is at play for the future of the Democrat Party going into the 2024 presidential election. With Biden convincing ever more Americans that he’s too old and demented to continue to be propped up for another run, and with Harris sitting at near-record unlikability (even her top staff have been bailing on her), some Democrats are suddenly starry eyed for … Hillary Clinton. At 74 years old, Hillary’s a spring chicken compared to other Democrat leaders.

She also raised speculation with recent comments that were a pretty obvious jab at her own party. A Democrat majority, she said, “means nothing if we don’t have a Congress that will get things done, and we don’t have a White House that we can count on to be sane and sober and stable and productive.”

Bill Clinton has made some noise about her, too, recently calling her “the most qualified person to run for office in my lifetime, including me,” and proclaiming that the nation rejecting her in 2016 was “one of the most profound mistakes we ever made.” Hillary did, after all, recently and “tearfully” read her intended victory speech.

Then again, if Michelle, who’s far more popular among her party’s base, were to throw her hat into the ring … well, that just might be a game changer for the Party of the Donkey. That may be exactly the play — convincing Michelle, who has long maintained that she has no interest in seeking office, to change her mind and become the new Obama face of the party.
