Top of the Fold

  • Fake news alert — USA Today deletes 23 articles: A “journalist” for the Leftmedia outlet USA Today has resigned after an internal investigation revealed that she had fabricated sources and evidence for nearly two dozen of her articles. “After receiving an external correction request, USA Today audited the reporting of Gabriela Miranda,” the paper stated. Not only did Miranda fabricate sources and quotes, she “took steps to deceive investigators by producing false evidence of her news gathering.” The paper has removed all of Miranda’s offending articles from its webpage, replacing them with the message, “This story has been removed from our platforms because it does not meet our standards.” The articles in question appeared to address a wide variety of topics, including the war in Ukraine, TikTok, abortion, pop culture, and COVID. How many other Mirandas are there in the mainstream media?

  • GWU cancels George Washington mascot because “unity”: Who knew that all it would take to “solve” racism and “unite” America would be to cancel George Washington? Evidently, that’s the “thinking” of the Ministers of Woke. The latest cancellation comes from the trustees of George Washington University, who voted to eliminate the school’s colonial mascot, which was intentionally made in the likeness of the nation’s first and greatest president. Canceling the mascot is a way for the school to distance itself from its namesake, all in order to appease the woke by promoting the Left’s “inclusivity” ideology. It’s awfully ironic that every time the Left cancels someone or something, it’s always justified as a move to promote greater “inclusivity” and “diversity.” How much longer before the university removes Washington from its name? As Donald Trump warned back in 2017: “This week it’s Robert E. Lee. I noticed that Stonewall Jackson is coming down. I wonder, is it George Washington next week? And is Thomas Jefferson the week after? You know, you really do have to ask yourself: Where does it stop?”

  • Vice roots U.S. National Parks in white supremacy: If you love the great outdoors, then you just might be a closet white supremacist — at least that’s the implication from an article published in the Leftmedia outlet known as Vice. The article in question, titled “White Nationalists Want to Reclaim Nature as a Safe Space for Racists,” absurdly posits that “white supremacy groups have deep roots in the U.S. wilderness and recreation movements, going way back to the creation of the national park system.” The article is a classic example of engaging in conflation and positing correlation as causation. In other words, the U.S. happened to be a white-majority culture at its founding, and many whites loved the outdoors. Whites were primarily responsible for founding America’s national park system, and some of them held white supremacist views. Conclusion: Since some of the individuals who helped establish America’s national park system were racist, then America’s national park system is rooted in racism. The article then makes an even bigger leap by tying outdoor enthusiasts who hold “America First” views as essentially being closet Nazis. Using this logic, PETA is a closet neo-Nazi organization since, like Adolf Hitler, it promotes vegetarianism. In fact, Hitler was responsible for implementing some of the most stringent laws against animal cruelty in Germany seen in the modern era. Just because people share a common love or appreciation for one thing or ideal does not mean they are the same or in agreement on all other ideals.
