Re: “Guess Who AOC Blames for the Surge in Violence Nationwide?”
“AOC argues that permissive gun laws in red states lead to urban crime, but ignores the fact that enforcement of laws is generally a local responsibility. Furthermore, all of the cities cited by CBS have been controlled by Democrats for decades. But even in drawing the wrong conclusion, AOC screws it up. The data was from 2019, and four of the seven red states were still under Democrat control at the time. At least at the state level, it would appear that high crime leads to people choosing conservative government, not the other way around.” —Georgia
Re: “The Looming Recession?”
“The fact is, we’re probably already in a recession, defined as two consecutive quarters of negative growth. GDP shrank 1.5% in the first quarter, and all indications are that the decline in production is not only continuing but accelerating; we’re simply awaiting the official word on the second quarter. Worse yet, with supply chain problems worsening due to historic fuel prices, the recession will continue for some time beyond these first two quarters. The good news? Biden can blame Trump, COVID, Putin, and little green apples, but big majorities of almost every demographic are correctly placing the blame on him and on Democrats in general. Remember, it took a Jimmy Carter to give us a Ronald Reagan.” —Georgia
Re: “Whiskey Tango? Fox News Celebrates Child Gender Experiments”
“I am stunned by this. The fact that Fox News would choose to air such a story in the first place, presenting it in a ‘positive’ way, and that anchor Dana Perino would also push it is truly saddening. Unfortunately, real conservative media (at least televised), it seems, is going away. Soon there will be none left to disseminate the truth.” —Texas
Re: “Woke Sports Wackiness”
“This is the United States of America, where everyone — and I mean everyone — is permitted to have their own opinion as long as it doesn’t physically hurt anyone. The ‘woke’ actions of professional and amateur sports have encouraged me to walk away from all sporting events. I used to think golf was immune. However, with LIV golf coming on the scene, the PGA has gone woke and has lost my viewership.” —California
Re: “The Praying Coach and the Idiocy of Sports Illustrated”
“New Mexico Congresswoman Yvette Harrell: ‘Sports Illustrated seems to be under the impression that coaches and players praying on the field spells the end of American democracy. If that were true, American democracy would have been destroyed long before the legendary Jim Thorpe threw his first pigskin.’ And yet we have young people adrift in life, plotting assassinations, and shooting up schools. Would that these young people be involved in athletics under the moral guidance of a man such as coach Kennedy, maybe the tide of this violence would be curbed.” —Maryland
“Jesus warned His followers to avoid praying to be seen and praised by others, but He did not prohibit praying in public Thus, I assume Coach Kennedy was not praying on the football field to show off but to encourage all to submit and thank God for His blessings of safety and health among all participants. After reading the circumstances, I cannot ignore my suspicion that Sports Illustrated and Greg Bishop would have remained silent, or even extolled, the coach’s courage if he were praying to Allah.” —Missouri
Re: “Monday Short Cuts”
“The primary purpose of the National Strategic Petroleum Reserve is not to protect the president’s poll numbers from the effect of high gas prices but to ensure our military has fuel, plastics, and lubricants during wartime, even if regular petroleum supplies are disrupted by attacks or labor shortages. Given the aggressively imperialist behavior of China and Russia, drawing down the NSPR at this time is dangerously short-sighted and foolish. Oh, and Exxon remains one of our largest taxpayers. Even after carrying forward large losses from 2020, the company still paid over $7.6 billion in income taxes in the last fiscal year. Mr. Biden, you have record-high tax collections. Stop wasting our tax money, and stop borrowing away our future.” —Minnesota
