Re: “Biden Gaslights With Gas and Other Lies

The Biden administration’s efforts to force people into electric vehicles appeal to those whose reasoning is forever stuck in a childlike state. Thinking you’re “saving the planet” because there’s no tailpipe ignores the fact that the energy must be created somewhere, often by dirtier processes than an internal-combustion engine. This is akin to leftists’ self-congratulation for shutting off energy production in the United States while begging for other nations (many of them unfriendly) to sell us more oil. Do Democrats think Iranian oil or Venezuelan oil, brought to our shores in oil-fueled tankers, is somehow cleaner than U.S. oil? —Georgia

National Public Radio is trying to run cover for the Democrats on oil and gas prices. I notice NPR carefully said nothing about Mr. Biden’s cancellation of pipelines, oil exploration leases, and other measures that make the supply and transportation of oil products more difficult and expensive; these are precisely why Republicans have criticized the Biden regime for higher gas prices. Having hidden these major long-term causes of higher gas prices behind a smokescreen of short-term ordinary effects, it then falsely claims Mr. Biden has nothing to do with it. Our tax dollars are buying lies for our ears. —Minnesota

Confabulation — the filling of memory gaps with demonstrably false statements — is a feature of dementia. It’s different from run-of-the-mill lying. It’s not gaslighting either. Both lies and gaslighting require a conscious disregard of the facts/truth. Confabulation doesn’t. One who confabulates does not recognize that they are not speaking truth. Lies or gaslighting or dementia? Gaffes from Joe just being Joe are not a sufficient explanation anymore. —South Carolina

Re: “Fossil Fuels Save Lives

Wind and solar need backup from fossil fuels because they aren’t reliable. Turbines can’t be made without plastic, which requires oil. Life expectancy is 20 years at best, and they can’t be cut up or burned because of toxic materials they’re made from. Congress is a place where brains and common sense go to die, and this subject is a perfect example. —Minnesota

Has anyone noticed that politicians are not speaking about the diesel situation the United States is about to realize? We have only 25 days of diesel left, and when that is out, all elements that run on that fuel will stop. —Florida

Re: “In Brief: Nuclear Power Is the Answer

I was a nuclear engineer in the U.S. Navy and stationed aboard three ships including the Nimitz. The reactors are very different in how they are used. On a ship, about 85% of power is for propulsion and 15% for electricity. When tied up and just sitting, a ship uses about 10% power. A civilian plant normally runs at 90% power full time. Refueling is also different. A ship is a three-year process; a civilian plant has cooling ponds where they can winch depleted cells out and put in new ones as needed and is rarely shut down. In the long run, nuclear is the cleanest and safest form of energy available until nuclear fusion is available. —Illinois

Re: “It’s the Socialist Democrat Party Fascists, Stupid

As a seasoned political observer, this article summed up brilliantly my deep and abiding love for America. It is the most succinct yet comprehensive explanation of the threats our nation is currently facing. God willing, the citizens of our nation will wake up and take our beautiful country back. —Kansas
