The Patriot Post® · Why Do Democrats Hate Babies?

Babies won back in June when the Supreme Court rightly struck down the most horrific and deadly precedent in American jurisprudence, Roe v. Wade. Democrats, however, apparently don’t like babies very much because they vehemently oppose anything and everything that might save a life — even one life.

The House passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act yesterday, a law that requires immediate life-saving medical attention for babies born alive after an abortion attempt. That baby, says the legislation, is a “legal person for all purposes under the laws of the United States.” Therefore, any medical professional present upon the child’s live birth must “exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age.” After that, the baby should be “immediately transported and admitted to a hospital.”

Any medical professional failing to do these two things would face fines or up to five years in prison, while the mother would face no penalty.

One Democrat, Henry Cuellar of Texas, voted with 221 Republicans to pass the bill. Texas Congressman Vicente Gonzalez took the bold stance of voting “present,” while every other Democrat voted to leave a living baby to die without medical care. This position has evidently become commonplace among Democrats. Whatever happened to “safe, legal, and rare”?

It is “extreme,” said one social media observer, and it “will further jeopardize the right to reproductive health care in our country.” That was Vice President Kamala Harris parroting a growing Democrat talking point that Republicans are the “extreme” ones because they want to “control women’s bodies.”

Let’s give the Veep a remedial science lesson: A woman’s womb is her body. The separate human growing inside that womb is not her body. When that baby is born and no longer in the womb, it is not a woman’s body. Of course, Harris is not a biologist, but hey, at least she tacitly acknowledged that only women can get pregnant.

“This is not about a woman’s access to abortion,” said Republican Representative Derrick Van Orden of Wisconsin. “This is about the sanctity of life and the basic dignity of a human child.”

Indeed it is, and though some Democrats tried to couch their “no” vote in feigned concern over transporting a “struggling baby” to a hospital that may be hours away, nearly every Democrat took the side of death without dignity, the side of infanticide. That includes the “good Catholic” Nancy Pelosi, who condemned Republicans’ “extreme anti-choice agenda,” which she claimed threatens “the freedom to access reproductive health services — without fear of violence, intimidation or harassment.”

You know who’s guilty of violence, intimidation, and harassment? Radical pro-abortion zealots who are shouting down pro-lifers, vandalizing and firebombing pro-life clinics, and attempting to assassinate Supreme Court justices. Yet Pelosi literally objected to the abortion bill in part because Republicans pushed it “instead of joining Democrats to condemn all political violence.”

We’re still waiting for Pelosi to utter a peep about any of those instances of pro-abortion violence, or about any number of other examples of leftist violence, for that matter. In fact, Pelosi was one of 209 Democrats to vote against a companion House resolution condemning pro-abortion political violence. What a shameless hypocrite.

The Democrat-controlled Senate won’t take up either bill.

From a political standpoint, this Republican legislation is wonderfully effective. Far from the hysterical predictions that a dystopian “Handmaid’s Tale” was right around the corner for women, Republicans showed that their first priority is simply saving the lives of those who survived attempted execution before birth. That’s a relatively small number of individuals, to be sure, but that only further highlights the extreme position of Democrats.

In a world where just seven nations — basically the U.S. and the communists — allow abortion throughout all nine months’ gestation, it is decidedly not Republicans who are “extreme.”

Speaking of extreme, the leading Democrat propaganda rag known as The Washington Post ran a headline about the Republican legislation on its home page today, but it was about “antiabortion” bills passed after a “daunting midterm.” And it was buried in a tiny font underneath a much more prominent story about the Alabama attorney general’s off-the cuff remarks about prosecutions over abortion pills.

Regarding the Post’s story about the House, it’s a lie to call either bill “antiabortion,” as neither one has anything to do with the procedure itself. One was a resolution about pro-abortion violence, and the other was meant to save a surviving baby after an abortion. We expect no better from the Post, however, especially after the paper adopted its pretentious “Democracy Dies in Darkness” branding right after Donald Trump took office.

The Post, along with its Democrat allies, apparently prefer that babies continue to die in darkness.
