Article 1, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution: “The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, (chosen by the Legislature for six Years) and each Senator shall have one Vote.” The founders decided on this method because they wanted to create a more thoughtful process for selecting senators. They didn’t want senators to be elected by the general voting populace because people can be affected by the passions of the day. In this manner, senators were chosen based on the knowledge, wisdom, and experience of the legislatures. The harms done by the 17th Amendment are many. For example: Confirmation hearings are a partisan circus. The concepts of federalism and states’ rights are no longer in play. —California

The essence of the problem is that leftists say the same words but are using a different meaning. Remember “peaceful coexistence”? The term “unity” doesn’t mean finding common ground; it means enforcing conformity. So those who claim to want “unity” don’t see a problem when censorship is used as the tool to achieve “unity.” It’s what they meant all along. —Maine

I see Chief Justice Roberts’s failure to involve the politicized left-wing FBI as a sign that he is serious about getting to the bottom of the leak. The only thing the current FBI could be trusted to do in a case like this would be to cover up one of its ideological cohorts’ involvement in the leak. To determine the ideological motive of the leaker, all John Roberts had to ask was: Who benefits from the leak? The Left benefited twice: First by energizing and mobilizing pro-abortion forces, and second by creating a wedge of distrust within what they see as a conservative Court. Hopefully those who are investigating the leak will ferret out the responsible party. —Arizona

Chief Justice Roberts should probably not be criticized for his failure to involve the FBI. Considering that agency’s actions over the past six-plus years, it has little to recommend itself. —Kentucky

I’m guessing the next step will be to claim the need for more money to be “invested” in DEI. Have we not seen this with welfare, affirmative action, climate change, and just about every other SJW issue? As the article points out, it is a very profitable business, and those pushing it are getting very wealthy off the backs of taxpayers and consumers. —Washington

If an elderly person with chronic COPD contracts COVID, enters a hospital, then dies, how do you count that? It could easily be argued that if that person had not contracted COVID, he or she would not have died, therefore it was caused by COVID. But perhaps that death would have occurred regardless of COVID. It’s either impossible or very difficult to make such distinctions. Might as well ask the Magic 8 ball. I suppose we should trust in the ability of medical personnel to make an educated evaluation. And, of course, keep the politicians from interfering in the counting process. —Florida

Who in the NHL thinks they will fill lots of empty seats by holding Pride Night? Winning fills seats. In spite of the “freedom of speech and religion” blurb from the NHL, don’t be surprised if Provorov is suddenly traded and then cut out of the league like NBA basketball player Enes Kantor Freedom, who spoke out against events and people in Turkey and China. NBA head Silver issued a blurb about freedom of speech at the time, too. I’m surprised the NHL didn’t just cut and paste Silver’s message. —New Hampshire

I, unfortunately, read the sordid details and so wish I had not. I’ve been weeping and praying for these two boys. Only the Lord can heal their hearts and minds and bodies, which their abusers broke! And I prayed for their abusers. Thank you for taking the time to write this. Let’s all join in prayer for these two boys. —Alabama

I have been concerned about this very thing ever since it became acceptable for homosexuals to adopt young children. These children are vulnerable, and it breaks my heart to hear how these two boys were exploited by these self-serving creeps. We need to stop this practice. A few can spoil things for the many. —Colorado

Too many have a mistaken notion that homosexuals are mild-mannered and incapable of dastardly crimes. There is no punishment too severe for these two men posing as fathers. —Minnesota

Re: “Legacy”

I just want to express my appreciation for this devotional. As one with gray hairs, my daily prayer has been that I might testify to this generation and the generation to come. Furthermore, I ask the Lord to keep me from confusion and not allow me to bring reproach on His name. It is great to hear a fellow traveler share the same goals. I remember visiting the Arizona Memorial 30 years ago and being amazed at the solemnity of the occasion. At the time, you could hear a pin drop. It was very moving. May the Lord bless you and keep you on target. Another worthy verse the Lord gave me is Isaiah 46:4. I trust it will encourage you as well. —Ohio
