It might not feel like it, but these are good times for the Republican Party.

Oh, sure, there’s the electoral incompetence, there’s Mitch McConnell, and there’s the looming Trump-DeSantis civil war, but look at the Democrats’ predicament: They have a bumbling, stumbling international embarrassment ensconced in the White House for the next 20 months, and — if such a thing is possible — they have an even less popular vice president waiting in the wings to replace him.

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll gives us a sense of how bad it is for the Democrats and their standard-bearer:

As he begins his campaign for reelection, President Biden faces substantial and multiple challenges, according to a Washington Post-ABC News survey. His overall approval ratings have slipped to a new low, more Americans than not doubt his mental acuity, and his support against leading Republican challengers is far shakier than at this point four years ago.

What, exactly, is that new low? It’s 36%, down from 42% in the February version of the same poll. And as for those “leading Republican challengers,” Biden now trails both Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis by seven points.

Even more alarming for the Democrats are Brandon’s plummeting numbers with blacks: Just 52% of black respondents approved of his job performance, which is down from 82% when he took office and promised to unite us.

Yep, compared to the opposition, the Republican Party is as popular as a pre-COVID handshake. As popular as Anthony Fauci before everyone learned what a lying little opportunistic scumbag he is.

Democrats are no doubt keenly aware of their guy’s precipitous drop among black voters, and they also know that they don’t have a path to the presidency without overwhelming black support. Which is perhaps why we see the Democrats’ 2024 shadow candidate, failed California Governor Gavin Newsom, throwing his support behind that state’s insane push for reparations.

And if Joe Biden’s stunning cartoon-characterishness weren’t bad enough, his succession plan is even worse. Not only do Americans increasingly want this corrupt and incompetent old pol to just go the hell away, they desperately want him to take his Border Czar Venn Diagram Czar Yellow School Bus Czar Passage of Time Czar Contextualized Moment in Time Czar with him.

Republican Nikki Haley hasn’t done much of anything right since she announced she’s running for president a few weeks back, but her overly verbose observation about Biden’s 2024 reelection bid was spot on: “I think that we can all be very clear and say with a matter of fact that if you vote for Joe Biden, you really are counting on a President Harris because the idea that he would make it until 86 years old is not something that I think is likely.”

When we omit all of Nikki’s needless words, we’re left with this: A vote for Joe Biden is a vote for Kamala Harris. True that.

Even lefty columnists like Matt Bai understand this, even if they’re clueless about how to solve the Kamala Conundrum. Says Bai: “So if I were giving Biden advice he surely doesn’t want, I’d tell him to steer into the storm rather than away from it, and run with Harris almost as if he expected her to take over. I’d make her a constant fixture at Biden’s side in public events and in the kind of extended interviews she’s mostly avoided doing.”

Translation: Give ‘em more Kamala, not less. (Would 10 hours of her laughing do it? Asking for a friend.) More Kamala is exactly what the Biden White House seems bent on doing, with its announcement on Thursday of Harris as the administration’s “AI Czar.”

We kid you not: The technology that no less an expert than Elon Musk has referred to as “potentially more dangerous than nukes” will be spearheaded at the national level by … Kamala Harris. But, hey, if anyone knows anything about “artificial” intelligence, it must be Kamala Harris.

“AI is one of the most powerful technologies of our time,” said Biden’s handlers in a statement that’s sure to instill confidence, “but in order to seize the opportunities it presents, we must first mitigate its risks. President Biden has been clear that when it comes to AI, we must place people and communities at the center by supporting responsible innovation that serves the public good, while protecting our society, security, and economy.”

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Team Biden sure seems desperate.

In closing, we’d simply ask that you take a moment to remind all your misguided friends that a vote for Joe Biden is a vote for this:
