Georgia Governor Brian Kemp released his executive order for Georgians to shelter in place due to COVID-19 Thursday night.
For residents, the order requires you to staying in residences and taking every precaution to limit social interaction to prevent the spread or infection of COVID-19.
You can still leave if you're participating in essential services such as getting supplies or food, engaging in activities essential for the health and safety of your household or engaging in exercise outdoors. The order also says you can leave if you're working in critical infrastructure, minimum basic operations or performing necessary travel. Under the order, the following businesses will be forced to close:
Officials say that all other entities may continue to operate subject to specific restrictions, which vary depending on whether the entity is defined as a critical infrastructure. Read more in the Governor's FAQ.
The order will start Friday at 6 p.m. and last until 11:59 p.m. on April 13.
