Obama Orders Military 'Gay Pride' Celebrations
CinC Using Armed Forces for Political Fodder
"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and morality are indespensible supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism who should labor to subvert these great Pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere Politician, equally with the pious man ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. ... [L]et us with caution indulge the opposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that National morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle." --George Washington (1796)

Just when you thought the Left's campaign of cultural degradation couldn't become any worse, Barack Hussein Obama, ostensibly the Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces, sent down a decree that the Service Branches must celebrate "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month." The purpose of this mandate is to affirm the minuscule number of homosexuals (2-3 percent) serving in the military ranks -- mostly in rear echelon positions.
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta dutifully carried out the order, saying, "During Pride Month, and every month, let us celebrate our rich diversity and renew our enduring commitment to equality for all."
Obama's declaration came during the same week the DoD announced it would comply with atheist group demands that all military editions of the Bible be removed from Base Exchange centers. The complainant had prepped a lawsuit based on the errant notion that "separation of church and state" is enshrined in our Constitution. Naturally, the Obama administration accepted their objection without a fight, based upon the Left's adherence to a so-called "living constitution."
Apparently, Panetta's "enduring commitment to equality for all" applies to sexual preference but not faith. Oh, wait ... maybe it doesn't even apply to sexual preference. After all, when was the last time any Leftist celebrated "Heterosexual Pride Month"?
Make no mistake, Obama's Gay Political Play is a keystone in the Left's macro agenda to undermine the most critical pillar of Liberty, the family. However, there's nothing "gay" about Gender-Disorientation Pathology, and "affirming homosexuals" in any context not only poses a threat to natural families and good military order, but disregards the welfare of millions who manifest this destructive pathology -- merely using them as political pawns.
Rather than provide one lone opinion about Obama's military "Gay Pride Month" mandate, I asked 20 career military officers, five from each of the service branches, to give me their opinions about this mandate. While I value the opinions of many young friends who are among the enlisted ranks, I chose to ask officers, in order to provide a more strategic perspective on this issue.
The responses I received came from those who ranked from O-2 to O-9. Each reported that their sentiments were echoed by virtually all of their colleagues. Each agreed to provide their "personal perspective" without attribution, because the military PC police (Lefty lawyers in the JAG and IG offices) are very persistent at prosecuting Obama dissenters, and these respondents expressed an interest in completing their military careers, abiding by their oaths as military officers, and endeavoring to maintain history's best fighting force in defense of Liberty -- despite assaults from the CinC to the contrary.
What follows are representative amalgamations of comments from members in each service branch, all of whom are combat veterans.
USA:
Clinton accelerated the practice of using the military as a political test platform for social policy, pandering to its electoral constituencies. The Obama regime put it in warp speed. ... I will retire soon, and it pains me to see this political crap manifest itself in the ranks of fine young men and women. ... Military service requires a solid foundation in moral virtue because war destroys the societal safeguards that aid civilized society and civilized people in staying grounded. When we remove morality from military service, such as the moral imperatives behind the UCMJ regulations against homosexual behavior and adultery, we risk dislodging the moral compass from its true north bearing. ... This has nothing to do with military readiness and everything to do with political expedience. ... The requirement for even more "sensitivity training," which we already endure for Equal Opportunity (EO) and Sexual Harassment, Assault, and Rape Prevention (SHARP), and resulting UCMJ changes, all detract from the real aim and purpose of training our soldiers to fight and win, wasting his most precious resource, time. ... This mandate is irresponsible and rains down from politicos who are not even remotely acquainted with the reality of ground combat.
USN:
I have had to do few things more distasteful in my 36 years than train (read "indoctrinate") my unit members on the new post-Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell (DADT) rules. ... Those of us who have been brought up with legitimate, closely held religious convictions have to bite our tongues and accept the unacceptable. ... We all know it's a load of horse dung, and are just holding our breath for a real CinC to replace the phony one now at the head of the table. ... If being a Christian makes me a bigot, as our Commander-in-Chief indicated (in his reference to people "clinging to their guns and Bibles",) then I willingly wear that title. ... Next up will no doubt be affirmative action for homosexuals to increase their numbers in our ranks. ... When one group, for whatever reason, is given preferential treatment over another, it is ultimately destructive to the command, or the service, or the military writ large. ... Yet to meet one in the fighter community! ... When you consider that the average junior sailor (E6 and below) lives separated from family and friends for months at a time and in worse conditions than the majority of our federal prisoners in order to serve and protect our nation, you'd think that they would be the last people who would have these political mandates imposed upon them by our civilian "leaders." ... Typical of an administration that can't differentiate between equality and Liberty!
USAF:
There is no evidence that decisively links genetics to homosexuality -- and this lack of a genetic link totally separates this issue from race and gender ... except for political expedience. ... When will the pandering politicians please get their social agenda out of my way so we can do the job we came here to do? ... Everyone who has candidly spoken to me about the issue thinks the DoD's policy towards homosexual conduct is wrong, period, and contributes to a degradation of unit cohesion and effectiveness. The fact that the DoD would then not only allow the conduct, but now endorse it is absolute anathema to anyone with a moral compass. ... Now that we've opened Pandora's box by legalizing homosexual behavior, we are now challenged to figure out exactly what kind of status and rights we are going to bestow on it. As a commander, I would be content if we could simply acknowledge it as a permissible lifestyle and not celebrate it as some kind of panacea that will give our military a tipping-point advantage that will allow us to defeat our enemies. ... Despite the "re-education classes," I will likely continue to hear humorous comments loaded with gay innuendo, all followed by the standard disclaimer, "not that there's anything wrong with that!"
USMC:
I read Panetta's order ... and it sickened me. Panetta is not part of the "military ranks." Unfortunately his "leadership" of the DoD defines, in part, where the military ranks are, and where we will go. ... I'm not a fan of Hispanic Heritage Month, African-American Whatever, Women's History Month, etc. The posters produced, ceremonies, seminars and luncheons held, and messages that are promulgated are presented under the guise of bringing us all together when, in fact, they mostly define and divide by differences. ... Celebrating one's heritage or behavior is fine as long as it's your celebration, not the DoD's, or the Nation's. ... Lord, please send us a real CinC! ... In my opinion DADT was a very workable solution. If folks did their job and kept their homosexual behavior a private matter, I was OK with that. ... I knew fellow Marines who cheated on their wives, who lied and who stole, but I was never required to celebrate those sins. I could still voice my rejection of those behaviors, and get my fellow Marines to straighten up and fly right. But now I would be dishonorably discharged for such action. ... Numerous studies/surveys of our Marines conclude that the youngsters, who almost exclusively make up front-line combat troops, don't fight for God or country or freedom. They fight for the guys on their left and right. By dividing along the lines of our differences, we erode the foundation of military success. ... Contrary to Panetta's statement, the military doesn't exist to provide opportunities or make people feel good.
Unit Cohesion? Two comments really sum up the thousands of words I received in response to the Obama "GLBT" mandate.
The first is from Col. Ron Crews, USA retired (emphasis added), who is now director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty: "By openly affirming bisexual and homosexual behavior, military leadership is coming into direct conflict with the morals and standards held almost universally by chaplains and service members of virtually every major faith group in the military. This blatant attempt to 'celebrate' a minority view of political correctness will not endear military families to the military. I want the American public to see just where the current administration is leading our military. They have turned our Armed Forces into a social experiment at the cost of military readiness."
The second is from a Marine: "When I volunteered for the Marine Corps, the military expelled homosexuals. A decade later, Bill Clinton ordered that we ignore homosexuals as long as they kept their sexual preferences a private matter (Don't Ask, Don't Tell). That was OK because few if any of them were in combat units. Last year, Obama and his Leftist congressional cadres obliged the military to endorse open homosexuality (Do Ask, Do Tell). This decision had nothing to do with military readiness and everything to do with political pandering to a loud special interest group. This week, Barack Obama decreed that my Marine Corps would officially 'celebrate Gay Pride Month.' The next step will be to set quotas for homosexuals in the ranks, and to offer marriages and same-sex benefits. I'm preparing for retirement after more than 30 years of service to my country, and more than a few scars to prove it. It grieves me to leave my beloved Corps in such a state, being used as a political crap pot for Obama and his socialist administrators. I have honored my oath. They have deserted theirs. Do citizens give a s--t anymore? Time to wake up. God Bless America! S/F."
When Obama repealed DADT in December 2010, he said, "We are not a nation that says, 'don't ask, don't tell.' We are a nation that says, 'Out of many, we are one.'" But Obama's invocation of "E Pluribus Unum," the national motto proposed by Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson in 1776, as the basis for his social agenda to normalize homosexual deviance, is anathema to its definition. That is because Obama's objective is not to unite, but to divide (and conquer) under the pretense of uniting.
George Washington once called on the nation to determine whether we would be united or divided: "We are either a United people, or we are not. If the former, let us, in all matters of general concern act as a nation, which have national objects to promote, and a national character to support. If we are not, let us no longer act a farce by pretending to it."
Indeed, Obama in his capacity as President and CinC, is a monumental farce.

It is TIME to get rid of this assmunch that sits in the Oval Office and soils its honor with his very presence. To see what he has been doing to my beloved country and my military heritage, sickens me and angers me. I wonder just as my "brother" Marine did, don't civilians care what is happening to the military anymore? I was in the Navy back when we used to get rid of those people who were an anathma to good order and discipline, or you can call it "GOD" as it was what made the military a functioning fighting unit. It is NOT the place for social experimentation. For God's sake People ... WAKE UP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!

As one of "We the People", let me assure you that so very many of us have indeed woken up. You won't read about us but we do donate money and time to organizations that fight against changing "Marriage Between a Man and a Woman" to gay marriage. I fight it at the high school where I teach. Even if we weren't in the military we do care! I've been present in more Tea Party events than I can count until it got politicized. I donate money to Liberty Council and the Patriot Post among others. I write letters, email, call and attend gatherings of our elected representatives. It is just as disheartening for us as well as for you to see this country slide into moral decay. We do have the right to toss out the President, Congress, and our Representatives. If not by vote then by force. I was looking forward to growing old, visiting my kids and g'kids. However, my husband and I have decided that if freedom for our loved ones demand we wade into the fight and lose our lives then we will have done our very best for freedom. Those of us that feel this way are hoping for one uniting person to sound the trumpet call to 'Charge!' Keep your powder dry!

Thank you for your post. As a veteran, I am equally disgusted with the complete lack of standards and values exhibited by our governing officials, particularly that person in the Oval Office. I am equally fed up with the complacency among the citizens of this country and their lack of morality. God help us.

It's already too late. I served on active duty for 23 years in both the Army (RVN combat vet) and USAF. I retired in 1988 and still work for the USAF as a civilian. I see this crap every day - ignorant/lazy civilians making ill-informed decisions about our military. Of course the militant gay community will seize the opportunity to blackmail these feckless "leaders" (military and civilian) into "celebrating" an immoral lifestyle. The military is gone - no discipline - no moral compass - no sense of pride. The picture of 2 "marines" kissing says it all - DISGUSTING!

I served in Irak in 2005 as a member of one of the salvadorean contingents that were sent to OIF. I was so proud of serving along with those wonderful men and women of the US military, so humble and at the same time so magnificent. I retired after serving my country as CNO and in that condition I continued working tiogether with american military. Now I find to my distress that all moral values, which are the core of that great miltitary organization are under attack by liberals headed by Mr. Obama. How painful is to us, the foreign military who admire you so much, to witness how you walk towards your degradation and eventualy towards your destruction. Isn't there any thing that can be done to prevent this? Please do something; the world has it's eyes upon you.......

This is a sad and difficult article for me to read. I am retired. I value my service to God and country. The sentiments expressed indicate a profound sense of loss. Our country seems to be falling apart at the "heart." When will we change our heart? When will we again comprehend true "pride" - not the false one that exhibits the rainbow of moral decay... When will we wake up to the reclaim "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness" based on inalienable rights endowed by our Creator?

First to all who have served and are serving, I thank you. Second I served in the Navy from 61 to 65, at that time if someone was found to be gay they were immediately discharged. Now we have a whole new problem. Sailors doing duty on board ships are in very close quarters, the literally sleep just feet apart, some times less, now you add a homosexual and you have nothing but trouble. This is a disgrace to our military and our country. I wonder if the President or Peneta has read the story of Sodum and Gamora. (spelling may be wrong) how God destroyed a whole city because there were none righteous, mostly homo's. unbelievable this adminstration calling it self the commander in chief.

Yeah, no, you're wrong. Maybe the military was different when you were in, but the majority of the men and women that I have served with do not give a shit if you're gay, straight, bi, transgender, asexual, whatever. As long as you don't try anything on anyone that doesn't want it you are fine. This whole thing about morals is YOUR morals, not the morals of the nation.
Do I really need to break down and explain this in terms of segregation? They're human fucking beings and they deserve the same respect, privileges, and opportunities that you get. Get off your high horse.
Oh, and if any of you care, I am a conservative, I can't stand Obama as president, but you know what, ending DADT was a good thing and I will stand by my CaC.

Well said. This terminology in this article, and the tone of this commentary make them hard to read. That you are my fellow conservatives makes me physically ill. If you are willing to put your life on the line to defend this country and her freedoms, you certainly deserve more respect than either this article or the twits commenting on it afford you, regardless of your sexual preference. "Moral decay." "Deviant behavior." These are the words we choose when discussing men and women who, despite our Military's stance on homosexuality, have loved this country enough to not only fight our enemies overseas but endure the opinions of morons like this author and simple minded bible clingers like its commentators at home? Gays in the military don't want anything but to be able to serve the country they love the same as any other US citizen. It's a sad, sad state of affairs that these men and women face the same bullets that their straight counterparts do and you trample their service to this country. It's shameful. Just as shameful as Obama using them as political pawns to draw our attention away from the realities of his failed fiscal policies. Wake up and pay attention! Obama doesn't care about gays any more than he cares about you. He cares about his socialist agenda and getting re-elected. Focus on what's important!

Changing the recipe by removing all traces of OUR religious heritage will no doubt produce a nation of immoral savages. GO ON AND LAUGH. Nameless: I'm a Christian conservative. I believe that ALL sins named in Scripture are sins and that God's Word is Truth absolute. I believe that sin is not categorized as "little, intermediate, and highly offensive to God." He says that sin is sin, and when you have broken ONE commandment you are guilty of breaking all. I oppose gay marriage. Why? For one simple reason: Marriage was NEVER an institution created by, or defined by, man. Marriage is a Biblical creation, an institution first found and described in the Holy Bible. I object to MAN tampering with what GOD has created and mandated as sacred and holy. I object to FORCED celebration of open homosexuality. Why? Because I do not openly celebrate lying, stealing, adultery, kiddie porn, murder, envy, greed, or any OTHER sin. But do I consider a homosexual less than human? NO I DO NOT! THEY MOST DEFINITELY ARE HUMAN BEINGS as much as am I. I don't object to homosexuals having full equality under the law. What I object to is being forced to "celebrate" or "observe" while OUR religious rights and freedoms get hobbled and our Constitution mangled. I try to treat everyone with Godly love and not judge their immortal soul. I am called to practice discernment; God says I must NOT endorse sin. I have never, and know no REAL CHRISTIANS who have ever, demeaned, insulted, mistreated or snubbed a gay person. Jesus said to remove the log from my own eye before taking the speck out of someone else's. I am not perfect enough to be the judge of other people. But I DO know that my country's Constitution is being ruined and my basic freedoms destroyed. .I want the government to get its nose OUT of the Constitution with intent to adulterate it, and to stop singling homosexuals or any other special-interest group, out for special notice...let's just give ALL human beings equal rights UNDER THE LAW and let private lives be private lives. I want this commandeering of me, my family, my community, my military, fire and police protection, my Constitution, and everything else ad nauseum, to STOP. You wanna talk about being treated like less than human? Witness the persecution of believers in Jesus Christ...it's begun and it's a wholesale assault, albeit "in the name of diversity/equality"...we are being driven down, but we will NOT go down quietly. Shame on YOU for resorting to filthy language and blustering accusations that I would consider ANY other human being as less human than myself.

The Infantry is very close quartered...and very violent. The last thing we needed to worry about? Was contracting AIDS....or dealing with aadvances from homosexuals. For every combat vet out here? How many autopsies were conducted on American soldiers who died during combat ops? How many investigations were conducted during combat ops clearing towns and villes...and suffering a casuality? My squad and I could've made millions of dollars selling AK-47's and other weapons we collected after our ops. At platoonn and squad levels. Seemed to us? THEN...place them anywhere in comabt...like a regualr combat unit. I would love to see the "combat effectiveness"...of a homosexual combat unit. Then...and only then? I had to process homosexuals from the Navy, it was the law. I did not, and will not, question the UCMJ and all that it stands for. Where I was concerned was that we treated gays as criminals, they had two choices: 1) face a courts-martial or 2) request a discharge under other than honorable conditions - gee let's ruin their lives while we're at it. We treated substance abusers and other assorted losers better than we treated gays when it came to discipline. Was the Navy correct in carrying out the letter of the UCMJ - YES.

This is true. The military cannot order one to celebrate gay pride month. They can try, but the list of those disobeying orders would skyrocket. It's best to let only those who feel like "celebrating" it "celebrate" it, which would be very few. The gay pride month is just not recognized by the vast majority of people, and most likely never will. Anyone can make up a "month" for a cause, then "celebrate" it. Kind of reminds me of "Festivus", the holiday created by Jerry Stiller in Seinfeld.

They do not want "Equality"! They want "Superiority" and preferential treatment! This "in your face" approach has gotten way out of hand.
If they want to engage in deviant behavior, then let them go off to some private enclave. Heterosexual people do not engage in the type of behavior they do in public. It is a "private" matter and should be KEPT that way.

Heterosexual people DO engage in such deviant behavior. Have you ever gone to the mall and seen serious face munching? What about drunken couples that don't realize no one wants to see them making out and falling all over each other? Everything that you see in the homosexual community happens in the heterosexual community, even anal sex. It's ignorant to think that it's just one group. And I agree wholeheartedly. It's something that should be kept private, but don't narrow it down to one group, because all groups are guilty of the behavior you're complaining about.

You have the right to say that when the heterosexuals have pride parades, where they make out in public, and be almost naked, flaunting their heterosexuality. And the fact that heterosexual couples may experiment with deviant behaviour doesn't make that behaviour normal. You are but a plant from the likes of HuffPo.

No, same gender sex is an exception. It's pretty bad. Can't fit it into our universe. Opposites attract, the same do not, so when it happens in human culture, something very wrong is up.

I do believe we are no longer one country. I didn't think we could do any worse than Bill Clinton but I know now that there is no absolute bottom. This socialist, fruitcake lover will be re-elected and the next 4 years will move us closer to the one world government goal of the left. It may also drive us closer to secession and revolution as well.

I've read numerous comments. I know very little about the Marine Corp or the Navy for I'm Army. Beliefs, this is what keeps us going.
I've read we are Christians, We are Christians. Good. Let's assume for sake of argument this is a symptom of a vastly larger problem. Now what other symptoms are there, we are cutting food stamps to the very poor, we have a state that fires elected officials, I can go on.
We can focus on a hot issue topic or we can do our christian duty across the board. When he church send a letter to Congress and to Rep Ryan personally telling them they aren't doing Gods will and they are hurting the poor across the board, I believe, I have to check, no one on this blog said jack about it. We become upset over the gay issue yet we call ourselves Christians, Maybe God allowed this to happen. (See Amos and Hos) for examples). Maybe this is a wake up call and we are to self centered or blind to see it. If this is the case, I would hate to see what he has in store next. we had major storms, earthquakes, now this. Yet we're focused on a symptom not the disease.
We want doctors to lie to there patients, woman to stay home, barefoot and pregnant by passing anti birth control laws yet we're upset for God allowed this to happen? Time to pray for what we';re doing wrong across the board and not just this. We are willing to starve our own, not give them a living wage, kill them by pricing them out of the health care insurance but we complain about this.
Maybe, just maybe we have been judged and found wanting, Maybe wer are to blind to see.
All I'm saying is we all to include myself, should look at the larger picture and quit hiding behind the Bible or a title.

Yes. KD. The nonsense is we claimed to follow God, we claim to uphold the Bible yet we DO NOT. We claim to do but our actions say something different. the nonsense is are we being judge for past sins or is this a wake up call. The point is, I've read numerous Biblical quotes, THAT is the point.

RK this is utter nonsense. So, if we are against the government redistributing wealth in the guise of welfare, and against the gov mandating birth control paid with tax payers money, we are not bible minded? Where did you come up with the idea that Jesus wants the GOVERNMENT to take care of the poor, and provide birth control? And your attitude is right there with Lenin's: if you are not with us, you are against us. So if our conscience says no to birth control it absolutely, necessarily means that we want women back in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant? Health care is not a right Mr. Sprau. Life is not fair, nor are we all the same. Only in Socialism, where being the same is mandated by the gov (except for the ruling class) would you see your dream of having all the rights you want. But they all come with a price... I said it before, and I will say it again. With friends like you, who needs the progressive enemies?

I'll say this later on but to you, I didn't send the letter to Rep Ryan or to Congress, the church did. I am not there answering service. If you have a beef take it up with the spiritual leaders not I. When Congress or Ryan says the church is wrong, then we have taken it upon ourselves to go against those who the Lord has placed over us. When Congress who claims to be christian says, the church is wrong, when will it end. This is the thrust of my statement. If you have a problem with who wrote what, take it up with those who God placed over you.

I have been learning from the Bible for over half a century, and I have yet to read a passage that says it is the duty of government to provide for the poor. However, I see many passages that say it is the duty of those who have material goods to help those who do not. And yet, even then the Scriptures do not require a handout. For in Leviticus 19:9-10 God says, "When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God." The poor were expected to harvest and prepare their food themselves! Not only that, but this passage, as do all others prescribing care for the poor, makes it a personal act.
Even when providing for the poor was done collectively, as we see in the New Testament, it was done by voluntary contributions through the Church, not the State. You are mistaken to say it is unchristian for Representative Ryan et al. to refuse to increase coercive provision for the world's richest poor people. (And if you had looked at how many people we have added to the food dole since January 2009, you would see that your claim that we are cutting the program is incorrect.)
However, God did command the government not to oppress the people, particularly not the poor. When government imposes a tax code designed to prevent people from saving enough to get out of poverty, that is oppression. When government sets a minimum wage that keeps people with few skills out of the job market, that is oppression. And when government demands the military spend money on propaganda events when it cannot afford the pensions and medical care it provides to those who have sacrificed health and fitness for their country, that is oppression.
Thomas Jefferson asserted, "To compel a man to provide for the propagation of opinions he disbelieves and abhors is both tyrannical and sinful." It is difficult to imagine any other action would bear this out more accurately than what Mr. Obama has just done. I would point out that, since Congress has not appropriated any funds for the promotion of this perverse and disgusting behavior, a requirement for the expenditure of even a single penny of the taxpayers' money to comply with the order would make it illegal.

Additionally, find your Latin teacher and give him an apple as your repeated use of "ad hominem" should warrant some kind of recognition for somebody.

I agree with marv in va, put all the queers into one unit, train them for combat service and use them as the "point" on all combat adventures. Sexual activity, including any and all foreplay and preparation for the act, should take place in a private location not demonstrated for all to see. No matter how attractive and sexy I, or anyone else, thinks they are, no-one wants to see them crawling all over each other in public. Those are actions that should be kept private and between themselves alone, not foisted on those who have enough decorum to do those things in private.
