Resurrection Day 2010: All Things New
· Thursday, April 1, 2010
"It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favors." --George Washington

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ, appropriately celebrated in our country each year as the dormant winter season yields to new spring growth, is the foundation of our belief that life can arise miraculously from the hard darkness of apparent death, thus bringing great hope to us even in the bleakest of winters.
I live in an area of our great country where the seasons are well defined, but spring is my favorite. As March closes, I am treated to the miraculous emergence of new life from the winter cold, and I marvel at God's expression through the splendid colors on branch and ground where the restoration of life had been awaiting its cue.
But the hope that we Christians have is a hope greater than merely the changing of seasons.
The Resurrection is the central event and tenet that distinguishes Christianity from all other faiths. While others add human works into the equation, only God Himself, through His sacrifice on the cross, could ransom us from our sin-slavery, fulfilling the requirements of the Law. Only God Himself could then rise from the dead, returning to deliver unto His followers the very freedom He had paid with His life to secure.
Jesus told His disciples, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31-32). Those last words (in Latin, Veritas vos Liberabit) have been The Patriot's motto since our inception, and we continue to advocate truth and liberty.
Not all Americans share our passion, however.
Take, for example, Davenport, Iowa, this week, where City Administrator Craig Malin removed Good Friday, the most somber of Christian holidays, from the municipal calendar. He did so without even bringing the issue before the city council, thus unilaterally renaming the day "Spring Holiday."
Malin claims he was just following the recommendation of the Davenport Civil Rights Commission. Tim Hart, the commission's chairman, declared, predictably, "Our Constitution calls for separation of church and state. Davenport touts itself as a diverse city and given all the different types of religious and ethnic backgrounds we represent, we suggested the change."
Memo to Tim: There is no "Wall of Separation" in our Constitution. The truth shall make you free.
"The city council didn't know anything about the change. We were blindsided and now we've got to clean this mess up," said city council alderman Bill Edmond. "How do you tell people the city renamed a 2,000-year-old holiday?"
Of course, we've already been through this exercise in political correctness with Christmahanakwamadan, so why not add Good Friday?
In the end, though, it appears that common sense will prevail in Davenport and Good Friday will yet be restored to its calendar.
Truth and liberty are under vicious assault in other forms as well, often under the guise of compassionate care or "social justice." When it suits their purposes, leftists will even sweep aside their concerns for "separation of church and state" so that they themselves may evoke religion. For example, they often cite the words of Jesus when it comes to "caring for the poor," hence, in their minds, their mandate for the federal government takeover of health care.
On the contrary, Jesus never once spoke about the need for the government to address anything. He was (and is) solely concerned with each individual's heart and being. And it is His gift of life and liberty that we embrace when we fight the tyranny of leftist "compassion."
As Thomas Jefferson wrote, "The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time; the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them."
We know well that the world is a harsh place. As we survey its poverty -- both fiscal and moral -- or the damage and suffering caused by natural disasters such as the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, or the man-caused disasters (i.e., "solutions") leftists inflict upon us, we're reminded of the brokenness of this world. Indeed, Christ didn't die on the cross for a world that didn't need Him. He died for one that did and does.
Ironically, perhaps, that's where Easter brings the greatest hope. Christ conquered death when He rose from the grave that Sunday morning so long ago so that He can return to right all wrongs. In Revelation 21:5, Jesus said, "Behold, I am making all things new."
Our ultimate hope is not in political leaders (though we must always strive to elect upright ones) or in political solutions (though we must always fight for the right principles), but in the renewal that will one day come, as promised by our true Savior. Our hope will not wax or wane with each election, because this world is not all that there is. For that we are truly thankful to our Creator, and we look forward to the day when all things are made new.
The Good News
"Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.' So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, 'Greetings!' And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him." --Matthew 28:1-9
Publisher's Note: In observance of Good Friday and preparation for Resurrection Sunday, The Patriot's editors and staff take leave from the rigors of news and policy analysis and the demands of our editorial deadlines in order to focus on an eternal message, the Christian message. To our Patriot readers of faiths other than Christianity, we hope that this edition serves to deepen your understanding of our faith -- and the faith of so many of our Founders. (As always, permission to forward or reprint is granted.) From your brothers and sisters at The Patriot Post, we wish you a blessed Easter in celebration of our Savior.

Your article on the Easter celebration is very good. Your comment about the leftists using Jesus' words to justify their actions is well taken. While I am no judge and to say there are no Christian liberals is totally unreasonable using those words for such things as Obamacare is tragic. The real issue is that those who think that way believe that humans as a whole won't take care of other people. The believe that the government is the only entity with enough compassion and heart to take care of those in need. That is not the world as I see it. Just one example to make the point is the Salvation Army. As far as I know they take care of a significant number of people and don't enslave anyone in the process. That can not be said about governments in general.

I wonder if industry had spent as much money on teaching about Unity rather than diversity would that money not have been a better investment. If we in the United States had a common purpose, support the constitution, a common language and Unity, would we be in this mess? No! I believe diversity training about differences leads to the old battle of who is most important! Actually true diversity is nothing more than skills, traits, talents and abilities, not differences. The skill needed is most important at any precise time. Color, sex, national origin, age, etc. are not important, just differences. What you can do for your fellow man is most important, not what your fellowman can do for you because of your EGO!!!!!!! About what, my color, sex or age?????? We got messed up somewhere didn't we and the politicians and various media sources and organizations make money while we continue the argument. Let's quit trying to decide whether we are better ...White vs. Black. Use your abilities for the good of mankind. I believe that service was the religion of the Christ, the operative word for LOVE! If the various religious groups would lead the way to UNITY would that not be wonderful!

Bravo and well done! What a refreshing article pointing the way to the Savior of the world! I am blessed beyond all measure by the steadfast love and care given by the Father, the true ONE, who saves me from everlasting damnation. I would like to thank you for taking time away from what our government is doing to give time to remembering why we celebrate the Easter Holiday. We must always remember that the government is on HIS shoulders. It is because of Jesus that we can have peace in the middle of turmoil and we can rejoice because we know the battle was won on the Cross. May we all have a joyful and blessed Easter

Someone should enlighten Mr. Hart regarding the Constitution. There is no phrase or provision in the Constitution regarding "separation of church and state".
The 1st Amendment is quite clear: "Congress shall MAKE NO LAW respecting an establishment of religion....". The phrase "Good Friday" does not violate the 1st Amendment.
Mr. Hart should take a tour of the government buildings and courts in Washington D.C. and take note of all of the Christian references built in to the buildings. Educational standards in Davenport evidently have sunk to a new low.

Politically, that may or may not be true any more in our great nation; but eternally, we know it to be true and I deeply appreciate your committment to absolute Truth. I hope you enjoy your Easter break. Do remember, though, that even though "separation of Church and State" is not in the constitution, that great document was carefully set up to make a secular government. Religion is a matter of private conscience, and government is a grim necessity for all.
As an Agnostic I was willing to sign the declaration because you used the non-believer-friendly "Creator" and "Nature's God" language from the founding documents. Please do keep in mind that there are a lot of us out here, and that solid allegiance to the constitution does not require any kind of religious faith at all.

Your Easter article and Good Friday comments are superb, extremely appropriate and deeply appreciated by me! I have sent your article on to our Pastor and his wife. Would that his sermon could be half as good!
It is an unfortunate thing today that so many of the clergy and ministers have accepted the liberal attitude even to stating that this is no longer a Christian country! The facts belie this but that doesn't stop them for making the statement.
I do not know of another religion throughout recorded history that exhibits the compassion, understanding and needs of the individual to the extent espoused and preached by Jesus.
Too bad the Golden Rule has become so tarnished and the Ten Commandments have been relegated to suggestions only.
Thanks for your article. I, for one, greatly appreciated it.

I very much look forward to reading my daily Patriot Post, but I am always disturbed by the following assumptions: American = Patriot = Republican = Christian. The implication is to be a patriotic American; one must be Republican and Christian. I agree with the patriotic part, but the others do not add up or are factually not true.
"Many Religious Right activists have attempted to rewrite history by asserting that the United States government derived from Christian foundations, that our Founding Fathers originally aimed for a Christian nation. This idea simply does not hold to the historical evidence.
Of course many Americans did practice Christianity, but so also did many believe in deistic philosophy. Indeed, most of our influential Founding Fathers, although they respected the rights of other religionists, held to deism and Freemasonry tenets rather than to Christianity."

Do some research on the origins of Easter. I was thoroughly enjoying reading this edition - up until I read the word. You only used it twice in this edition, but you used it. You only used Resurrection Sunday once. Christians who love the Lord should never EVER use that word. I only recently discovered the truth about Easter, but since I have, I made a vow that I would never use it again in connection with Christ's resurrection.

Unfortunately, many fall for it, and the whole world pays the consequences.

Your comments about Jesus prescription for caring for others being individual responsibility and not governmental is right on. There was nothing in the passage of the "widow's mite" that put the government in between her and the poor box. Nor did the Good Samaritan deem it necessary to notify the authorities to take care of the man beset by thugs - the example was of his own neighborliness. We won't get to heaven by giving government our personal responsibilities.

As always, you have again stated in simple but clear terms the heart of the Bible message and answer to the greatest needs in our Nation. (Resurrection Day 2010) "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" is a 2-sided coin. I fear we are going to see the flip side much too soon, and that will be "Cursed is the nation that despises the Lord." Thank you for reminding us of the roots of our liberty as well as our biblical, Christian foundation. It may not be politically correct, but it is the truth!

Very well said. One thing nice about Good Friday, the holiday, is that there is no mascot - no Santa and no bunny. One either lives in total ingorance of the day's meaning, (it would be an interesting "Leno on the Street" poll) or one ponders the historical evidence for the day.

The animus towards Christianity is often bizarre. I saw today where some Muslim students at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, are demanding that the phrase "in the year of our Lord" be removed from diplomas ostensibly because it is an insult to their religious beliefs. Why then are they attending a private, supposedly Christian university?

Dear Mark Alexander,
Today, April 1, 2010, in your "Resurrection Day 2010: All Things New", you make reference to Davenport, Iowa, City Administrator Craig Malin removing Good Friday from their municipal calendar.
His defense, Davenport's Civil Rights Commission chairman, Tim Hart, declared that "Our Constitution calls for separation of church and state." Mr. Hart shows his ignorance of the Bill of Rights. It does nothing of the sort, but quite the contrary.
In our defense of such atrocities and blasphemy, we tend to unnecessarily cite court precedence. We should recall the old saying, "When all else fails, consult the source."
The First Amendment says nothing of separation of church and state. It does state (and I quote verbatim), "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;...." Government is not to interfere, period. Mr. Malin & Mr. Hart are both guilty of violating the First Amendment by "prohibiting the free exercise thereof." What's more, I assert that the U. S. Supreme Court misinterpreted that Amendment by their introduction of the false words, "separation of church and state."
That is contradictory to and repugnant to the Supreme Law of our Land. And, in Marbury vs. Madison, US, 1803, the high court ruled that any law which is contradictory to and repugnant to the Constitution is null and void. No citizen is bound to obey it. And no court of law is bound to enforce it. That ruling still stands.
Further, it might be argued that Mr. Malin and Mr.Hart are jointly and severely both in violation of US Criminal Code, Title 18, Sections 241 & 242 and the US Code, Title 42, Sections 1983, 1985(3), 1986 & 1988, to wit: conspiring together to deny the citizens of Davenport, Iowa, their lawful rights under the statutes (i.e. First Amendment specifically). Upon conviction, they could be fined $1,000 or sentenced to 1 year in federal prison or both.
I'd suggest to them that they might want to think about that for a while before they, without qualified counsel, make up their own rules.
Thanks for all you do for patriotism.
Sincerely,
Norman R. Malmberg

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. It couldn't be more clear. Our founding fathers never intended for God to be left out of public life. In composing the greatest governmental document ever written, the US Constitution, this document has as its basis the eternal laws of the creator of man as given to us in His Holy Word. Now why can't everyone accept that as it is without convuluting it and trying to make it something it was never intended to be.
Thank you Mark for a beautiful essay.

What a beautiful reflection. Mark Alexander, thank you for taking the time to write this post and remind us of President George Washington’s reverence for our Almighty God. I believe it is appropriate and good to be bold in our faith. Yesterday I was encouraged by my brief conversation with Dan Cathy, President and Chief Operating Officer of Chick-fil-A, at an event where I live. On his business card, the first line of their corporate purpose is stated clearly, “To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us.” How refreshing.
Recently, I received my Levitt Letter from Zola Levitt Ministries. Zola Levitt was a renowned Messianic Jewish Bible teacher. Zola's perspective as a Jewish Christian has encouraged me. Specifically, in his essay, "He Is Risen", Zola explains that First Fruits is the biblical name of Resurrection Sunday. It can be found on their website on page 13 of the April 2010 Newsletter which can be downloaded for free.
It is hopeful that my conduct as a husband, father, Marine, and now business owner, though not perfect, has been a testimony to my personal belief in my Savior Jesus Christ. Gloria in Excelsis Deo

Mark,
Liberals, especially the ultra-left, are quick to quote the constitution and the Separation of Church and State. What none of these people realize; and, possibly a great many other Americans don't realize is that the prohibition of a Governmental religion was meant to eliminate the European model that required the citizens of the United States to follow a SPECIFIED religious philosophy. A great many of the people who left Europe in the 1600s, 1700s and 1800s left because they were forced to believe in a religious philosophy against their will.
The Founding Fathers wanted to make certain that Americans could follow the God of their choosing, be He God, Jehovah, Yaweh, Allah, etc. without fear of some government functionary knocking down their front door and hauling the citizens off to jail. The Constitution was NEVER meant to prohibit prayer in school, Nativity Scenes on display at courthouses, the Ten Commandments on display in a Supreme Court Justice's office. The Constitution was written to protect the beliefs the Madelyn Murray Ohair's of this world. The constitution was written to protect anyone and everyone so that they could worship as they wish without fear of retribution.
The media elitists, the liberal elitists and the ultra-left have decided that they know what the Constitution means without ever having read the words and thoughts of the Founding Fathers.
Prayer in public schools is a good idea; just so long as the administration of the school doesn't force little Johnny or little Susie to pray in a manner that violates their parents wishes and teaching.

Mark, the piece I just read re: the cancelling of Good Friday in Iowa City or Davenport was one of the saddest things I've ever heard as a United Methodist Christian. Thanks for the entire piece on Easter and what it means to all of us as Christians. I especially thank you and your staff for exemplyfying your constant christian beliefs in all of your writings. For Kevin, the politically conservative aethiest. To answer your "Huh?" question, may I answer it by referring you to the writings of our founding fathers, who clearly saw the soundness of grounding our new nation in the timeless, Christian moral values given to us by God. They had absolutely no intent of seperating politics and God. They had every intent of permitting each every individual to worship God as they wished, or to not worship at all, without any interference from the government. A true conservative is quite capable of tolorating the religious view points and opinions of other, along with the aethistic view points and opinions. It sounds to me as if you are intolerant...and thus more like our friends on the liberal left.

Mark, I praise God that He put you where you are, doing what you do. This piece was a blessing to me in these times of attack by our own. The true perspective of life as God would have it, as displayed by the sacrifice of His son, Jesus, is something I needed to hear yet again. Your words are inspiring to me, much because I can feel the heart of God in their expression. You are well appreciated, my friend.

Mike,
You are missing my point - why is "The Patriot Post" (which naive me thought was a political group) sending out religious messages? Let's spin this a little different... if you were a Mormon would you appreciate receiving exclusively Catholic messages (or vice versa)? I believe the same principle applies. I signed up for a political mailing list, not for a religious mailing list.
As far as our nation's founding goes, the Treaty of Tripoli was unanimously approved by the Senate and signed by President John Adams in 1797, and states "the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion". There is also no mention of God in the U.S. Constitution. So you are entitled to your beliefs, but I can reference historical and legal basis for my position that religion has no place in government.
And, lest I forget, I wish you and your family a Happy Easter. :-)

May each of you be blessed this Easter and throughout the years ahead in your endeavors to restore our Constitution to its rightful role in this free republic!! Thank you for your love of your country and the Righteous yet Merciful God who gave us our rights and freedom to chose who we give our allegiance to. He has shown His love for us in so many ways, but most of all in giving His one and only Son who paid the price of our many many unrighteous thoughts, words, and actions. We are so blessed that Jesus was willing and able to cover us with His Holiness (via His shed blood) so that is all that seen by Our Father in Heaven is the purity of His beloved Son. The first amendment to the constitution of the United States reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the exercise thereof......"
When the constitution was written we already HAD a religion, that of worshiping THE GOD that was mentioned in ALL the beginning documents and the religious symbols on all our government buildings are part of the same.
How could a court of law say that the decorations and displays at government offices during Christmas be illegal? How could any government office say that we have to give way to muslim worship demands when we are not allowing our own people celebrate the religion under which we were formed? We have been flimflammed by people trying to destroy our religious heritage

Let's not forget as we discuss these things that our 'leader' has declared that America is no longer a Christan nation; and that in confirmation of this he eliminated National Prayer Day, but invited and encouraged a Muslim prayer day in Washtington DC near where his holds court.
Why is it that we pussyfoot around the fact that he does eveything allowed to the executive, and many things that aren't, to disdain and disregard the Constitution.

If you are a patriot and not a believer in Christ Jesus, the patriot message is in no way diluted by Mr. Alexander's belief or mine. I don't believe that he is proselytizing, merely stating his beliefs that this fine republic allows him to state in a public forum. You as well are allowed to state yours as you have already done so. Your sentiments are nice even though they are erroneous. The holiday of Easter (Estarte) is really warmed over paganism with a Christan label. It's a celebration to an ancient fertility goddess. A careful reading of the scriptures will show that Jesus was crucified on Wednesday, buried shortly before sunset on Wednesday, and was resurrected shortly before sunset on Saturday. By the time the women arrived at the tomb on Sunday morning, he was long gone. Jesus gave a sign that he would spend three days and three nights in the grave. The Wednesday to Saturday time frame fulfills that sign, while the Good Friday/Easter Sunday time frame fails. The bible condemns the practice of using pagan rituals to worship God. Apostasy was creeping into the church even while the apostles were still alive. We all need to study the scriptures to find out what the bible actually says instead of blindly following the traditions of men.

If the diversity loons were serious about honoring all while keeping state and religion separate, they would merely acknowledge Easter, Hanukkah, Ramadan, etc., equally and cancel the holiday vacation. Changing the name of a holiday is disrespectful and impugns the meaning of the holiday.
Of course, canceling the holiday vacation is no more required by the First Amendment than changing the name and it is considerably more risky politically.

Kevin,
I am a politically conservative Christian who doesn't believe in Atheism.
I believe that Religion and Politics are inseparable.
Maybe God is arranging for your exposure to this message from the Patriot Post so you might actually begins wondering, "Huh?" concerning your impossible notion of atheism.
Impossible?
To be an actual atheist you would need a mind that could reach every star in every corner of the Universe and understand its turning, and every particle in every atom in every molecule, and understand their turnings. And every molecule's place in every living cell, and every cell in each creature and each creature in every world. To observe all these and find them Godless you would have to be...well, God! Which of course would make a mess of your initial hypothosis.

Kevin,
Please don't feel too all alone.
We are all equally atheistic by the implication of our travelings, which is why we need a government.
A nation of the truly faithful would not.
But our Founders were profoundly Christian and the basis of our law was consciously and quintessentially drawn from Judaic and Christian principal.
Their certainty was that only a deeply faithful Christian nation could succeed and prosper in freedom.
With no individual moral constrain within the populace what sort of national asylum can we expect, and how can anything but tyranny prevail?
Tell me where the moral constraint is found in atheism! It all works out because it feels nice to be good? Are you really ready to take that to the bank?

That which a government takes by force of law is void of any blessing, for G-d does not bless that which is forced from a mans hand, and neither does He bless those which receive their gain through plunder. Thus it makes no difference how it is used after it is ill begotten in the beginning, any blessing it could have brought now becomes lost.

Dear Mark
Thanks for so moving a display of the core of Christian values that defined our country in 1776. As the present administration of radical leftists attempt to dismember those values, let us all remember that Christ died so that we could live. We must all decide what "living" means. Living means living free. We must live free or die--like the Green Mountain boys said in the revolution. This is the truth that sets us free. It is that same truth that strikes fear in our leftist adversaries. Thanks again for the truth.

Dear Mark,
First... Happy Easter to you and your wonderful staff. Keep up the great work that you all do for us all... and God Bless You, sir.
Now to the hard part... While surfing the internet for letters editorials and other writings, from the time of the founding of our nation... I came across an editorial from the National Gazette, written in 1792, by the gazette's editor, Philip Freneau (he was chosen to run the paper by Jefferson and Madison). Freneau's editorial is titled "Rules for Changing a Limited Constitutional Republic into an Unlimited Aristocratic Monarchy" (you can use that title for your search). After I read this amazing editorial... I immediately read it again, for I could not believe what it said.
In my heart and soul, I think that I have discovered the Obama Administration's secret 'book of plays (like a college football team would have and conceal from all others, as it headed for the Rose Bowl championship game). Well... this is no football championship We the People find ourselves in, at this point in our nation's history. This is real 'life or death of the Republic' stuff and it MUST be revealed to our citizenry.
Please search it and take a moment to review this brief editorial, as I most sincerely believe, when applied to our modern day politics, any reasonable and educated Citizen WOULD CONCLUDE that IT is the Mission Statement and Guidebook (to the letter)... for those who are attempting to 'fundamentally transform' our nation and our treasured way of life... and it's been'hiding'in some archaive... out of sight from the voting public... for 218 years now.
Reading this editorial of Freneau's truly scared the Hell out of me!!! And, it clearly, with incredible detail, educated me as to exactly what We the People are up against... and the fight that is ahead of us all. You, sir... I trust completely. And I believe also that you sir... are the correct person to share this editorial with the American voting public.
I most sincerely await your response and comment.
In Liberty Everlasting,
Kenneth Edward Gillam of Portland, Oregon

Friends - You might want to take a look at the big picture as our very Sovereignty as a Nation is being attacked from within. To be aware and then take up arms to protect her is honorable, but to be aware and not act is deplorable. Challenging a special day giving honor to our Christian heritage is just one more small drop of poison that is destroying our Nation. Islam, which is endorsed by our President, is like a deadly Virus spreading throughout the land (World) that will soon destroy mankind if allowed to continue. Be concerned because I fear the following has begun.
"We can't expect the American people to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small dose of Socialism until they wake up one day to find that they have Communism." --Nikita Kruschev
Communism, Nazism, and Islam are "bed fellows" producing evil and destruction when they breed (Ref, Germany & WW II). What form of birth control do you recommend? By the way, Islam is not a religion, it's a political ideology conceived by an illiterate man in the 7th Century to further his cause and get revenge on those who denied him.
May God (the one with the Son named Jesus) Bless You!

Mark: I never cease to be amazed at the content and depth of your writings, especially this one on this special Resurrection Day 2010. Our diversity is to be observed, but not at the expense of dispensing with our heritage. Patriot Post is truly a treasure for all that it brings to light of the incredible thoughts and virtues and talents of the great men and women who brought us this constitutional republic continually under assault. I once had a meeting with a revered Dallas leader, Mayor Erik Jonsson, and I lamented about the assault on clean uncorrupted leaders and wondered about the eventual success of efforts for good clean government and questioned the fight. He said, "On my death bed, I will be fighting the rear guard action." We will never give up. Our adversaries will never let up and our God will never give up on us.

It bothers me that the media--newspapers, TV, radio - all refer the the bombers as the Christian bombers...I do not consider them to be christians.
However, what do they call the man who attempted to blow up the airplane in December? The Christmas Bomber! Now the Muslim Bomber!
Can someone explain why the difference? Why is the media so hypnotized by the leftist regime? I find it hard to think that so many good, intelligent people are in denial at the least...at the most, they are attempting to destroy our nation as it was meant to be....We need to pray hard for our country--and our world!

Wow! Where in the wide wide world of sports did you get THAT definition. Atheism, like theism, is a matter of belief. The belief that no god exists. One does NOT need an understanding or knowledge of every particle in the universe to form a belief.

I think that more than any other time it's Easter when Mark Alexander shows plainly why the Patriot Post is such an effective tool in promoting fundamental American qualities: righteousness, justice, liberty.
He know precisely where our freedom come from; "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free."
The Post continues to be an accurate and much appreciated reflection of the thinking of our founders.
Thank you, everyone at the Patriot Post.

Thank you so much for the beautiful Easter message.
How far we, as a Nation, have wandered from the solid grounding the Founders, by the grace of God, provided for posterity!
Certainly, from reading the Scriptures, we see the same story over and over again, of God's blessings richly bestowed, and people, becoming vain and self-assured and arrogant, turning away from His precepts, falling into debasement and decay. As the prophet Hosea said, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6)" And while this refers specifically to knowledge of God, i do not believe that knowledge, as Truth, is differented.
We have been so blessed to have Founders who acknowledged the Sovereignty of God, and that from Him come our Rights... and our obligations. I certainly pray for genuine Reformation.
Thank you at Patriot Post for your faithfulness in providing information, AND knowledge.
May God bless you, your staff and families. May He bless your efforts on behalf of our Constitutional Republic.

I would like to comment on several of the postings reflecting on our Christian heritage and legal system. The United States was established by thoughtful and learned men who realized that the only way for the human race to succeed and prosper was though a belief in a Supreme Being - whether He is called God, Yaweh, Jehovah, Allah, Bhudda, Krishna makes absolutely no difference at all.
The most important part is that each and every individual in America has the right and the ability to believe as he or she wishes.
The Founding Fathers and their families were deeply religious and faithful; and, they encouraged all who followed them to be religious and faithful. However, the Founding Fathers knew what would happen if the United States were ruled by a religion based government. That is the same thing happened in England and France and Germany and the rest of Europe. Those in power FORCED religious beliefs on the citizenry of their respective country's. For those citizens who chose Catholicism over any Protestantism; the catholics were persecuted. For those who happened to be Jewish, they were persecuted regardless.
Granted, some people in America cannot get past the color of someone's skin, their religious belief, their national origin; but, times are much better now that they were 50 years ago, 75 years ago, at the turn of the 20th century. The reason for the awareness and tolerance is the Constitution that allows everyone to believe as they see fit, without fear of reprisal. THAT is what makes AMERICA great and the only country on this planet worth living in.
Remember when John Kennedy was elected President and there were stories about how the Catholics would rule America and the Pope would be in control? That didn't happen. If a Jewish person were elected President, no one would forced to convert to Judaism. Islam is a great religion when practiced according to the Koran. Remember that the "Old Testament" of the Bible calls for fighting and warfare to keep the world pure. We have outgrown that thought process. The true followers of Islam respect Jesus Christ and all of the Old Testament Jewish prophets.
It is the FANATICS that make Islam into something that is evil. The FANATICS only wish for their particular brand of Islam to be the "true faith." That is no different from the various Christian faiths in the world. The Catholics believe in this and the Lutherans believe in that. Episcopalians are called Catholic Light.
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should America be governed by a religious authority. At some point in the future, a FANATIC will come to power and screw up the whole ball of wax. The United States must remain a constitutional republic exactly as the Founders wrote the Constitution. ALL of the citizens have those rights as given by their Creator.

As much in this season as in the season of Christmas, let us remember Christ Jesus and what he won for us in His sacrifice and resurrection.
It is not about eggs or bunnies. It is not about candy or holiday time off (or even holiday pay).
This is the time to rediscover how we may - in our poor, limited, failing way - express our gratitude to Him by emulating Him.
Love Him with all that we have and all that we are, and love one another as He has loved us.
God bless you all, and God Bless America!

Indeed, the truth will set us free. We are witnessing a great awakening throughout America as citizens everywhere are rejecting the oppressive crush of tyranny from this Administration. This is an army that will not be diverted from its path, and one that will protect and defend those God given "unalienable rights" we hold so dear.
Easter is the great reminder of both sacrifice and victory over evil. How truly blessed we are to openly and freely celebrate Christ's resurrection and it's meaning.

This was indeed uplifting after hearing all the news reports today with the new politically correct style manual. Pilgrims today in Jerusalem retraced the steps that "Christians believe" Jesus walked. Pilgrims visited the hill where "Christians believe" Jesus was crucified. These are not items of faith, these are facts, documented by the Jewish leaders and the Romans. Notwithstanding the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where Christians believe Jesus was buried. Scholars can't really say definitively that this was the actual tomb or not, so that may be taken as an article of faith. I don't hear this style formulation for other faiths, particularly the Muslims.

This article is a good reminder that the Vince Lombardi method of reasoning works best: Start with the basics and work on them.
Jesus is the Christ. Before I make a judgment of any other person or decide to assert some supposedly superior opinion, first I remember that Jesus is the Christ and reflect upon His words and His teaching.
That seems to lead to discourse and moral results.
Blessings to all.

How can our most deeply-held and personal beliefs make “absolutely no difference at all” as Duke of Earl contends? Why do we need “TOLERANCE” if there are, ultimately, no basic differences in our ultimate beliefs?
This failure to discriminate is killing us. We do not achieve tolerance by pretending that all things are equal and the same. The evil is not discrimination, but FAILURE to discriminate. It is both evil and irrational to practice intolerance towards those who insist that truth is different from falsehood. All of us, whether we think ourselves religious or not, act from our deeply-held convictions. Not all beliefs are equal, but, in this the greatest nation in the history of the planet, you are free to believe and worship as you choose limited only by respect for the natural, Judeo-Christian God-given rights of others. These truths, not incidentally, are largely self-evident, Judeo-Christian truths that form the basis of our government. These truths are grounded in the faith that truth matters and is evident for all to discern /DISCRIMINATE. Not all world religions recognize these truths!
Fanaticism is not evil. One must DISCRIMINATE that fanaticism in the service of evil is evil. When the god of the Koran requires devotees to view others as monkeys and pigs and advance worship at the point of a sword. This is patently evil and irrational; the failure to DISCRIMINATE this makes us accomplices in our own destruction.
Fanaticism in the service of good and truth has done more on the earth to alleviate suffering than anything else. Which faith, which religion has done this best? Yet, which faith, which religion, is most hated and persecuted today? Is there not a concerted INTOLERANCE toward the Christian faith? Is there not a spiritual battle being waged in great deception and hardness of heart? Does truth not matter?
In defense of Christians, one must DISCRIMINATE those who have advanced Christianity at the point of the sword do so IN VIOLATION of the tenets of their faith. The faithful Christians are the ones who build orphanages and hospitals to care for the least in society, regardless of race, creed or color – because these widows, orphans, poor and distressed are made in the image of God. The faithful Christians are tirelessly working, as Mark Alexander, to shine the light of Truth in ALL areas of life, recognizing that there is unity in the issues of life and these cannot be truthfully compartmentalized into “politics” and “religion” and “family.” How many headlines do you read each day of Christians raping, pillaging and bombing for Jehovah? Yet these acts are done daily, around the globe, for racial, political and religious reasons. It is INTOLERABLE.
The answer is not to insist that nothing matters. The answer is to know that only the Truth can set us free and to insist that it matters very, very much in all that we do. Man must be free to pursue (or fail to pursue) truth as he is given power and inclination. Man must be restrained from his propensity to exalt himself in his “will to power” in violation of the rights of others. Our constitution guarantees these sacred principles and safeguards our liberties. We must defend it at all cost.
May God bless and strengthen Mark Alexander and his family!

Wonderful article to remind us that although we must continue the fight to elect righteous men and women to political offices and we must shine the light on the wrongdoing in Washington D.C.; we must never forget that ultimately, it is Jesus who died to enable those who place their faith and trust in Him, to have the hope of eternal bliss with Him in heaven and to give us our goal and duty to be His followers in all that we do........for no other reason than for what He has done for us.
May you have a blessed Resurrection Sunday!

How very disheatening ! Having spent three hours this AM in solemn Bible Study of our Lord's Crucification, Death & Resurrection , I read this missile. As I read, I thought " How glorious! I will send it to every one I know". HOWEVER, you had to insert eighteen lines to get your political point across . That is certain to alienate some whom our Lord , in his style , would attempt to bring to his side, most definitely not alienate. Our Lord abhored those who attempt to divide & separate. His message was/is : "Concern for all ; bring them to his side."It appears your knowledge of our Lord and the Bible are quite lacking.
This was the first time I have heard of your organization. As the saying goes " You never get a second chance to make a first impression."

Mark and all at Patriot Post,
A Blessed Easter to you all. May God give you all an abundance of illumination, wisdom and courage to continue the important service to America and all patriots. May God flood more assistance than we need to protect and defend American and sweep out these grave shadows! We are told "Call unto me and I will answer thee." and "Ask and you shall receive..." Let us call forth this promised help like never before. I don't forget the aid that came in Washington, Lincoln, Reagan. The American people CAN wake up, get educated and see the right way to go. Many have been shocked awake of late. Let's call for friends of the light in all government positions. Keep educating, and thank you.

I read with interest this "IOWA" decision by the "newly come up" "leaders".
The comment that the Constitution contains, "a Wall of Separation" from the Christian religion.
These "leaders" need to go back into the Archives of Iowa Supreme Court rulings and read what their Justices said about "The Lord's Day" "Sunday Excepted" Article I, Section 7, paragraph 2, Constitution of the United States of America.
1922 IOWA Supreme Court decision, - “In fact, the 1922 Iowa Supreme Court rejected the assertion that only one side of the Decalogue was important to American law, declaring:
“The observance of Sunday is one of our established customs. It has come down to us from the same Decalogue that prohibited murder, adultery, perjury, and theft. It is more ancient than our common law or our form of government. It is recognized by Constitutions and legislative enactments, both State and federal. On this day Legislatures adjourn, courts cease to function, business is suspended, and nation-wide our citizens cease from labor."

From the cross to the resurrection, in those three days, He changed everything forever: God and man now able to be reconciled in Christ Jesus for our good and to His glory. That is good news indeed.
Our sovereign God is the supreme authority over all men, nations and rulers.
Thanks so much for your faithfulness to Truth.

Judge Sturdy,
What law school did you graduate from?????? Your education is very deficient. Please state the name of that place, for who would send their young people to such a place.
If you think the Founders had no respect to God Almighty, you just do not know our Christian history.
May I suggest that you didn't read in your "precedent cases" the Supreme Court Decision of 1892, that declared this a "Christian nation".
Pity the people who must come under your "judgments"
