'There is a Time to Fight'
· Thursday, June 3, 2010
"I am not influenced by the expectation of promotion or pecuniary reward. I wish to be useful, and every kind of service necessary for the public good, become honorable by being necessary." --Nathan Hale
"...that time has now come."Over the just passed Memorial Day, Patriots across the Fruited Plain paused to reflect upon the ultimate sacrifice made by so many of our uniformed Patriots in honor of their sacred oaths.
This Saturday, we pause again, to remember the sixth anniversary of Ronald Reagan's death, and to take account of his legacy.
Four weeks hence, Patriots will reflect upon the immense sacrifices, in both blood and treasure, that were spilt in creation of the United States of America, the greatest experiment in human history.
By uniting these days of reflection with Essential Education, a most vital part of The Patriot's mission, Patriots have the foundation required to understand truly the terrific cost of our Essential Liberty.
While reflection and education are vital to understanding the history of liberty and how to sustain it, united, continual and forceful action must be undertaken to restore constitutional Rule of Law.
In the words of Thomas Paine, "Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it."
With one third of all state primaries completed, let's take account of our actions to date, and the results.
Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania frightened then-Republican Senator Arlen Specter into switching party affiliations to Democrat, his original party affiliation before 1965. The Ghost was then handily busted in the recent Pennsylvania Democrat primary. Toomey now faces a tough battle in the general election.
Doug Hoffman in New York almost won a special House election by running under a well-organized third-party banner (most third parties are not well organized and, therefore, lose decisively) but lost after the leftist Republican establishment candidate suspended her campaign and endorsed the Democrat.
Chris Christie in New Jersey defeated the well-financed Democrat incumbent to become the 55th governor of the usually solidly Democrat Garden State.
Bob McDonnell became the 71st governor of Virginia in a landslide 18-point victory -- in a state Barack Obama had carried by seven points just a year earlier.
Scott Brown became the first Republican since 1972 to be elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts. (Unfortunately, Brown ran to the right to win election, but has not consistently followed through now that he's in office.)
Marco Rubio in Florida so alarmed sitting governor Charlie Crist in the Republican senate primary that Crist became an independent candidate. Rubio now faces a difficult three-way race in the general election.
Spendthrift Senator Bob Bennett (R-UT), in office since 1992 and member of the all-powerful Senate Committee on Appropriations, was soundly defeated in the recent Utah Republican caucus.
Rand Paul in Kentucky steamrolled his Republican establishment primary foe by championing constitutionally conservative ideals.
But as Thomas Jefferson wrote, "The boisterous sea of liberty is never without a wave."
Indiana conservative Marlin Stutzman lost to the "moderate" Republican establishment candidate in the Hoosier primary.
Likewise, Arkansan advocate of constitutional ideals Jim Holt could not force a runoff election against the "moderate" Republican establishment candidate.
So while the list of outright and near-victories to date would be impressive for a typical election cycle, this is not a typical election cycle. These victories are neither deep enough nor complete enough to ensure restoration of constitutional Rule of Law.
Thus, we can neither rest upon our laurels nor trust to hope that the remainder of this election cycle will go well. Because the consequences are critical, we must not allow defeat of a single Rule of Law candidate.
George Washington wrote, "It should be the highest ambition of every American to extend his views beyond himself, and to bear in mind that his conduct will not only affect himself, his country, and his immediate posterity; but that its influence may be co-extensive with the world, and stamp political happiness or misery on ages yet unborn."
In the House of Representatives, Republicans, who currently control only 178 seats, will need to win a net 40 additional House races to obtain control and 112 races for a veto-proof majority.
In the Senate, Republicans currently control only 41 seats and will need to net 10 additional races to obtain control and 26 races for a veto-proof majority.
Of course, while it is safe to say that the overwhelming majority, if not all, of Democrat incumbents and candidates are anti-constitutional (a.k.a. "living constitutionalists"), it is also safe to say that not all Republicans are constitutional conservatives. Thus, the numbers for majorities listed above necessarily need be even larger to overcome the plague of "moderates," whose primary goals are to curry favor with the opposition to ensure perpetual re-election, rather than to fight forcefully for constitutional Rule of Law.
Veto-proof majorities must be the forthright objective of every Patriot who desires restoration of Rule of Law. Anything short of that will necessarily result, at best, in treading unconstitutional water for at least two more years or, at worst, further passage of the unconstitutional Obama agenda, in whole or in part, by a Congress under Republican control (see above lament on "moderates").
However, political victories require copious amounts of both money and manpower, a notion not lost on our Founding Fathers, who in the Declaration of Independence pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor.
Resolve then today, this moment, to emulate the Founders: to act in unison, both continually and forcefully. For now is the time for all Patriot Americans to come to the aid of their country.
Incorporate this strategy from Thomas Jefferson: "If we move in mass, be it ever so circuitously, we shall attain our object; but if we break into squads, everyone pursuing the path he thinks most direct, we become an easy conquest to those who can now barely hold us in check."
Utilize the knowledge and wisdom of free organizations such as Club for Growth and Senate Conservatives Fund to support vetted constitutionally conservative candidates. Remember that even if those candidates don't live in your district, they will still represent your views in Congress.
Dedicate a significant portion of your income and wealth, above and beyond what you might already, to donate to Rule of Law candidates. Give until it hurts -- because the alternative will assuredly be far more painful.
Contact campaign managers to volunteer. If you cannot travel to where needed, then technology affords an opportunity to assist well-organized campaigns anywhere in the country.
Plan vacations around working for a candidate in another state or another part of your state. See the less-traveled America.
Make these opportunities "teachable moments" to expose your children to their awesome American heritage. Show them how the sacrifices of others afford them the opportunities to enjoy their lives and to show that their sacrifices will allow others the same. Remind them of John Adams writing to his wife, Abigail, "I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history and naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain."
Contribute in as many of the remaining state primaries (6/8: CA, IA, ME, MT, NV, NJ, ND, SC, SD, VA, AR runoff; 6/22: UT, MS runoff, NC runoff, SC runoff; 6/29: SD runoff; 7/13: AL runoff; 7/20: GA; 7/27: OK; 8/3: KS, MI, MO; 8/5: TN; 8/10: CO, CT, GA runoff; 8/17: WA, WY; 8/24: AK, AZ, FL, OK runoff; 8/28: LA; 9/14: DE, MD, MA, MN, NH, NY, RI, VT, WI; 9/18: HI; 10/2: LA runoff) as your convictions and resources permit.
Then, after the last primary that you work, pause to re-gather your strength and re-evaluate your position -- and get back in the saddle to rejoin the battle for candidates in the general election on 2 November.
It is time for tenacious resistance and rebellion against the current thrones of government. This is not a call for revolution but for restoration -- to undertake whatever measures are dictated by prudence and necessity to restore constitutional Rule of Law.
Patriots, this struggle is difficult. The odds of utter success are long. Then again, so it was also at the very founding of our nation. It will most certainly take more than one election cycle seat a Congress willing to restore Rule of Law, but reaffirm our commitment to that end we must.
Redouble your commitment to the principles of Essential Liberty and the restoration of constitutional Rule of Law outlined in The Patriot Declaration.
Educate others by distributing copies of the Essential Liberty pocket guide at political rallies and civic events such as club or association meetings, military or public service events and recognition ceremonies, etc.
Take heart, though, and implore God's blessing that we are on the side of Truth and Light. And know that it is our civic duty, the remembrance of our heritage, and the education of our posterity that calls us to act now; to act in unison, to act continually and forcefully.
Rest assured by these words from George Washington, "The consciousness of having discharged that duty which we owe to our country is superior to all other considerations."
Gird yourselves for the next five months; honor the sacrifices of our forebears with your own; and plow the fields for our posterity.
As Founder Joseph Warren said, "On you depend the fortunes of America. You are to decide the important question, on which rest the happiness and liberty of millions yet unborn. Act worthy of yourselves."
And these enduring words from Peter Muhlenberg in 1776: "There is a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away. There is a time to fight, and that time has now come."
(Jim Cuffia, executive director of the Essential Liberty Project, contributed to this essay.)

A powerful essay, a call to arms. In the sense that ballots carry more weight than bullets.
Alas, the Republicans have a history of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It is easy to forget that Reagan was not a "mainstream" Republican, but a true maverick, unlike a Senator from Arizona. RR was not the choice of the Estabishment Republicans, but of the people. He won because of the message he presented, which we do not hear often. (except for this web site!) Mark Alexander is right, it will be a difficult time, but a necessary one. The longer we wait, the harder to rebuild that "shining city on the hill."

In light of the lack of core principles of our opposition, I expect our continued resolve and ever-increasing massed voices in opposition to the current trends will cause some of them to align with us as the movement likely to prevail.
.
Their support or lack of resistance is welcome but must surely be watched closely.
.
Should the winds change and our movement falter, their loyalties to us will dissappear as well.

Unfortunately, because of the division of the Senate into Classes the best the GOP can do (barring any special elections which may be required due to death or resignation) is a 59-41 majority so a 2/3 majority would take at least one more cycle.
But the editorial makes a good point about state and local races where pro-state's rights legislators can be installed in order to put pressure on the federal government, as Arizona is doing with their SB1070.

We must defeat Obama and his takeover America agenda.
If Obama, Pelosi and the Congress keep spending the way they have been the 13 Trillion deficit we now have will look like pocket change and Americans will owe more money to China, until they own America. Also the dollar will be worth next to nothing as America goes bankrupt.
Thanks to Obama, Pelosi and a Demo Congress that doesn't read the bills but vote whichever way Pelosi tells them to. All of them will be gone within 2 years, lets hope he hasn't done anymore damage to our country and America can still be saved by the grace of God.

Your words inspired me today to commit to serving more and not retreating when so much of our world seems to be in confusion. You shared the timeless words of wisdom of our forefathers who were willing to give their worldly belongings, families, and their very lives for this great country. I am renewed to stay in the struggle to maintain this country regardless of the cost. Thank you and may God bless our nation always and forgive us our sins.

Mark,
As I have stated to other columnists in the Patriotpost; you have more effect on the politicians than we do when it comes to writing columns and essays, etc. The ordinary conservative can write to this columnist or the next columnist and little happens to change the positions take by John Beohner, Michael Steele, John Kasich et al. Our feelings and comments are read and asnwered by people of similar feelings. The only time the so called 'conservative leaders' pay any attention is when a Rand Paul wins over the preferred lackey. When that happens, the 'leaders?' circle the wagons and try to discredit the true conservative.
It is up to the well known writers and columnists to force the issue to the 'leadership?'. Only then will they sit up and take notice.
Moderates, Moderate Conservatives, those are simply new expressions for the same old DIF (Democrat in Fact). Reading the founding fathers shows that they NEVER anticipated or WANTED bi-partisanship. The fathers wanted each issue to be debated, discussed and deliberated; often with intense feelings. We need to return to that philosophy as conservatives. We need to answer any and all leftist propoganda with facts, history and truth. Only then will the message get out to the remainder of the American People. Then we can re-capture the constitutional government that we cherish.
Keep their feet to the flames of enlightenment; for that is the only manner in which we shall prevail.

Are we intentionally distorting President Reagan's legacy?
For every dollar RR cut in taxes he borrowed two dollars. That's now 3 dollars pumped into the economy. Therefore to say tax cuts doubled revenues to the government is wrong.
RR raised plenty of taxes. Capital gains went from Carter's cut to 20% back up to 28% by RR.
The greatest tax increase in the history of mankind was done by RR. Social Security went from 7 1/2 to 15%...and thats on ones gross. On top of that the surplus by law must be spent by the government.
When 240 Marines died in Lebanon, what did RR do?
He pulled out...not another American life for these people.
If we now go to GW's legacy, conservatives really look bad.
Not all conservative minded people are Rush or Hannity type intellects.
Some of us actually read books put out by responsible repulicans, like RR himself...
Rush and Hannity are making us conservatives look like fools. You are not helping conservatives.
Best regards,
Bob Alexander

ONE OLD VET
There is a decided lack of true Patriots today. Those running for elected office seem to do so for their own personal advancement rather than for the good of the country. They are beholding to their party or those that fund their campaigns not the People. As George Washington said in his farewell address : "Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the Spirit of Party generally.... A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume." September 19, 1796. How then can we expect those adhering to strict party guidelines that advance only their agenda to preserve, protect and defend Our Constitution and promulgate a government of The People, by The People and for The people.

A very few days before Memorial Day this year I was very proud to make my first Pledge Of Allegiance after years as a US legal immigrant. In preparation for my Oath I looked up the meaning of the US Flag. One phrase arrested my attention. In addition to "Old Glory", "The Stars and Stripe", etc the flag of the US is also named "The Title Deed Of Freedom". Through reading your journal over many years I received that necessary education which led to an understanding of what was really at stake if the American moment is lost. You are a great voice in arguing for preserving for all mankind the idea that a nation must be of laws, not of men. You have never diluted your position, eroded its natural cohesion, denied it when it would be politic so to do, and your support for it perfectly meets George Washington's definition as stated in his letter to the Jewish Congregation Of Newport, Rhode Island in 1790: "Happily the Government Of The United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens in giving it on all occasions their effectual support". Please accept a regular monthly donation ten times what I pay for any good conservative magazine.

Good article Mark, however we all must Beware !!! First for the people like Brown in MA... we have an "honesty in advertising" and I suggest we need an "honesty is campaigning" for there are those who will say anything to get elected, i.e. Obama and the current socialist congress.
I still believe that we need immediate Treason action against them all sa Domestic Enemies.
Second, where are the platforms, and why are there no "parties" stating what they will vote for?? I could write a Constitutional-Conservative platform today... where are they all?
Makes me think -we the people- are screwed forever.
Keep up the good work Patriot Post...

In addition to this call to action by Mr. Alexander, one should not be afraid to share one's views about the candidates by writing to the editor of the local paper. A letter that is concise, to the point and is based on the fact will get published and will get noticed. Holding the candidate accountable for his/her record is our responsibility and if we do not do so, then we deserve the scalawag who takes office by deceit.

Can we agree to be FOR abolishing the income tax, the payroll tax, and the IRS?
Can we agree to support H. R. 25...the Fair Tax?
I will contribute to any candidate or organization which publicly supports the Fair Tax which would change the culture in this country...for the better!

The efforts to elect a Constitutional Conservative in Indiana were diluted by 5 people in the race, several of whom would fit the mold, but effectively electing the mainstream GOP name-recognition candidate, former Senator Dan Coats. While replacing Evan "I'm not a moderate, but I play one on TV" Bayh is a step in the right direction, a bona fide candidate like Stutzman or McGoff would have been that much better. The net result may improve, however, as Stutzman has announced that he will enter the race to replace Mark Souder, now that he has disgraced himself like so many others in DC.
I won't diminish Ronald Reagan's accomplishments as a recent poster did. True, spending increased on his watch, but tax revenues increased as a result of tax rate cuts. The spending increases, while opposed by the true conservatives, were a compromise with the Democrat majorities in both chambers when he was elected. His formula for overcoming the Nixon-Ford-Carter induced "malaise", stagflation, high unemployment, double-digit interest rates, double-digit inflation is readily available, yet rejected wholesale by the statist regime in power today. Let us continue to pray that we may be able to restore sanity and fiscal discipline to the governing class before their present folly leads us to further emulate Iceland and Greece. That is truly what "We, the People" hope. Otherwise, I am concerned that it will become uglier than what Greece has become so far as far as open rebellion and violence. There appears to be no leadership in either party away from the headlong spiral into Von Hayek's serfdom, the GOP preferring the death of a thousand paper cuts to the Democrat's lemming leap off the cliff.

Patriot Post,
I have enjoyed reading your commentary for the past few years and usually sit at my computer nodding in agreement as I read. In response to our "continuing efforts to support the Rule of Law" I, like so many others, want more information. I have said for years that it is a shame not to have local, city and state representatives on our nightly news where they can be given the floor to tell us who they are and what they stand for. Does the Patriot Post have a site dedicated to candidates, their views, and information for the trying-to-be-informed voter. Thank You and God Bless America,

There's a problem with your basic math. We can't get a veto-proof majority in the senate. There aren't 26 Dems even running. If we beat even the safe ones, we only pick up 18 seats; if we don't lose any. Let's set our sights on the doable. Take both houses of congress and build on those majorities (and take the White House) in 2012.
But... come '14... it may be time for some creative thought, if we're still only talking about winning more elections instead of how we've begun to roll back the socialist tide.
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

I don't doubt your zeal, but unfortunately Alexander's essay is a call to continue the conservative strategy of the last 50 years, which has failed spectacularly. We are losing every issue we care about. Maybe third party is not the answer, but your swipe at their lack of organization is both gratuitous and spiteful, since it is groups like the Patriot who have made sure to keep quiet about them, even if it means sacrificing principle to do so. It is little wonder third parties have no organization when conservatives are told to throw their money and time down the GOP rathole. When will it be time to abandon the GOP? Always tomorrow. After gay marriage is the law of the entire land. After medicine and education are totally socialized. After the economy is like Europe. After every battle is lost, maybe conservatives will say it's time to leave the GOP, but it won't matter.
Oh well. The GOP knows it doesn't have to reform. Conservatives are afraid to go anywhere else.

I enjoy the emails on all of the political races and information about our founders. However, It should be Stressed repeatly that we must pay very close attention to the state congress races they are extremely important. It is clear the administration and congress wants to put the United States in bankruptcy. The health of the individual states will dictate whether we survive as a nation. The seed money from Obama on super mega spending projects (IE Rail) offered the state only enough money to entice the noose on the neck. A million dollars on a 1 to 2 trillion dollar debt. Then we're stuck with a hugh debt, maintaince and incentives to ride a debt ridden transportation nobody wanted in the first place. We need people in every state congress who will cut the crap of polite politics as usual and do the right thing. Cut wasteful spending, government right-sized, reduce budgets sensibly and then lower taxes on citizens and business's to spur our own state economys. The depression the government spent wildly but it didnt fall because the states weren't in bankruptcy too. The government knows the states must fall too in order to rebuild their socialist government.

In all fairness, I take umbrage at your comments on Senator Scott Brown. The man has more integrity in his little finger than all of the elitist scum from BOTH parties. Although a Republican State Senator in his campaign against Martha Coakley, he ran as an independent and stated UNEQUIVOCALLY, that if elected, he would act in accordance with his CONSCIENCE and do what he thought was best for HIS constituents, such honesty had been absent from Congress in God knows how long. He is on record as having made that statement and, although I do not always agree with his choices, he is doing EXACTLY what he has said he WOULD do. Can ANY other Senator
make the same claim? To have that kind of integrity
in a Congress as corrupt and parasitically self-serving as the 111th Congress is TRULY remarkable. Brown is LIVING UP to what he said he would in no uncertain terms and is NOBODY'S pawn. If the other 49 States had a man with as much integrity and disdain for PARTY Politics, we would not be where we are.! I truly hope that HIS election marks the beginning of a new era in American political theatre where candidates solidly feel they owe NOTHING to anyone and WILL BE OF A MIND TO VOTE IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THEIR CONSTITUENTS WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE.Scott Brown does so, every day, and has garnered heat from BOTH sides of the aisle for doing so. We need more like him who put our needs and wants at the forefront rather than their own. To criticize the man for doing what he PROMISED to do is naive at best and criminal at worst. May he become the national PROTOTYPE after the November mid-terms. WE can and have already done far worse than that by electing Barack Obama and the 111th Congress. The change we were promised and denied will be rectified in the mid-terms and the liberals in this country may never recover. Here's hoping that proves to be TRUE and that as a result, we manage with a different power balance and a sense of fiscal and security oriented responsibility, to have the NEW CONGRESS render the Messiah IRRELEVANT,for the benefit of us all in the maintenance of the Constitution, the rule of law and our Civil Liberties! Perhaps then, we will FINALLY be able to address our debt, our immigration reform, our Cap and Trade crap, Our employment problems, and manege even to REPEAL the Healthcare Plan which never should have been passed in it's present form by a Congress that obviously never took the time to READ it although it was debated for the better part of a YEAR behind closed doors, was forced on the majority of American citizens WITHOUT the oppoertunity to vote on it and which the Congress and ALL government employees exempted themselves from at the expense of we who are expected to PAY 100% of their bloated benefit packages at NO cost to THEM! Come Npovember, Every incumbent cretin in BOTH parties , need to be removed by popular vote to send a message even the DENSEST of the Dense cannot mistake. To somewhat paraphrase that copulating rectal cavity, reverend Jeremiah Wright:GOD BLESS AMERICA, GOD DAMN OBAMA AND THE 111TH CONGRESS!

Fatigue overwhelms ny very soul everytime I read the following statements..."It is time for..." and " Let's begin to FIGHT"...or more to the point, "It's time to fight". Let's take a moment to clarify the message portrayed by these statements in light of the actual context in which thet are used.
First of all, there is a BIG difference in being politically responsible and fighting for something. Being a political activist is NOT the same thing as engaging in a fight for a principle or belief.
To fight is to engage in a system of violent means to accomplish an otherwise unobtainable end result. To take a stand, so to speak, on political issues is NOT fighting. It is simply taking responsibility that is imposed upon you at birth in The United States.
The only fighting being done by Americans is on battlefields across the Middle East, and by our own government across this great land. The militirazation of our domestic police forces and utilizing military concepts to pacifiy the population is actual fighting.
In the words of our esteemed leader and savior of the American Dream....
"Let me be clear..."
WE ARE NOT FIGHTING EVIL. WE ARE TAKING A PACIFIST STAND AGAINST IT IN HOPES OF ELIMINATING THE CAUSE AND EFFECT OF IT'S VERY EXISTENCE.
Now, to complete the point, I will give an example of what an actual fight would entail within the borders of this nation...
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." (Thomas Jefferson)
So, enough with the grade-school semantics already. If you are going to run about shouting FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!! atleast learn the fundamental difference between being politically and socially responsible and actually engaging in combat to take back our beloved nation from the clutches of evil.

Where is the new comer republican that will be running against Obama in the next election or will he be a republican? I have seen no battle plans for taking back America. I know the type of person I would like to see but where is he or she. Please dear God don’t give an old party member that has the most seniority and falls in the mode of politics as usual. Give me a young hansom person with a voice that can slice a block of ice and be understood by anyone that listens. It’s time this country got a rock star as solid as the rock of Gibraltar and a bright star to light up the torch in the hand of the Statue of Liberty. I would like to see the T- Party start searching for the person that can stand out and be identified as the person that can lead this nation back to its rightful and deserved position in our eyes and the eyes of the world. It would be nice to see an independent run, but it would take republican money to back an independent. God please give someone out there the ability to give us a Moses to lead us back to the promised land.

We must understand the true nature of "the greatest experiment in human history" if we are to choose wisely. "We, the People" agreed to self-rule, throwing off the burden of a privileged royal class. This is the heart of the Constitution, and everything written in it was to prevent any type of ruling class from being able to take control of the government.
"We, the People" lost our Constitution and our nation when we created the ruling class we now refer to as politicians. Even the best of people become poisoned by world of political power. Get rid of politicians and we can have self-rule and our country back.
This is not polemic on anti-incumbency, but a call for us to take a stand for the patriot statesman (or woman) who will make the sacrifice to serve the country for one healthy term and go home. This country was created so the individual could serve his countrymen. The country we have become exists to serve the politicians. Have you had enough yet?
As for me, I will vote in that individual who wants to serve and go home.

I see that you have materials in the patriot shop that are keyed toward high school and college-age young people, but do you have any materials that you would recommend for use in History / Civics classes (or barring being able to get the material into those classes, literacy classes) in Middle School?
I believe if we wait until a child has matured before exposing him or her to truth about our nation, that we have lost half of the battle for the minds of that future resource and have a much more difficult time. The stories of Sam Adams, Nathan Hale, Ben Franklin and the thousands of Patriots who stood stalwart at Lexington and Concord, and in Boston and elsewhere are inspiring and affect the young more than older students.

On 3 Jun, Bob Alexander asked "Are we intentionally distorting President Reagan's legacy?" It is true that RR drove up the national debt, social security taxes, etc. What Bob missed are the reasons, causes, and effects. Social security taxes went up to pay for its expenses. RR spent hugely on national defense in manners that directly led to end of the Cold War - which had sapped trillions of dollars over 40 years, the end of the Evil Empire - which brought unheard of freedom to 400+ million people. The end result was the largest increase ever in wealth throughout the world, and greatly reduced the threat of annihilation from nuclear warfare.
Nover compare these accomplishments with the gross waste of trillions of dollars by Obama and the liberal parties of socialists and communists whose aim is to redistribute and destroy the freedom of the citizens of these United States.

I received a letter from William T. Russell who ran for US house recently from western Pennsylvania. In that letter Mr. Russell states the PA GOP establishment sacked his campaign in favor of their appointed candidate. If this is true, I will never vote for another Republican because I can't imagine anyone wanting to be associated to such a slimy organization. Can anyone verify the validity of Mr. Russell's claims?

These words ring truer now than ever. Even though I am writing from October, a mere 29 days before the all-important "First Step" elections, the People must be instilled with the fact that only an organized and concerted effort can even begin the monumental task of restoring our thretaened Republic. I am fortunate enough to be a Tea Party organizer in Texas, and the Movement that I have seen is one that only serves as a catch-all for the Patriotics soul of the land. A hundred other groups, all adhering fiercely to our Founders views on Natural Right and the sacred nature of Human Liberty are laboring tirelessly to gain a foorhold on the political shore, one that would allow a greater gathering of forces for the storms to come.
The stirring of the People will certainly mean a greater and more brutal response from those dedicated to internationalism and the suppression of the individual into greater society.
If we can stay active, stay informed and stay strong, using the steel of our forefathers that still girds the American heart, then again, the People will be able to guarantee their Liberty, and that of a desperate world.
