The ‘No Evidence’ Impeachment Inquiry
While the GOP continued to methodically make the case, Democrats kept implausibly insisting that there’s no evidence for it.
“A Seinfeld impeachment — an impeachment hearing about nothing.” That’s how Maryland Democrat Jamie Raskin dismissed yesterday’s Republican-led impeachment inquiry into the Biden Crime Family.
It was a clever quip, but an intellectually dishonest one. Raskin knows as well as anyone that Joe Biden is corrupt. But he also knows that admitting as much, or even conceding that an inquiry into potential wrongdoing is an appropriate activity for him and his fellow House Oversight Committee members, is tantamount to treason among Democrats.
“If the Republicans had a smoking gun or even a dripping water pistol,” Raskin added, “they would be presenting it today, but they’ve got nothing on Joe Biden.”
There’s that word again: nothing. Even the mainstream media got into the act, with headlines like this one from NBC News: “House GOP’s impeachment witnesses say there’s no evidence yet that Biden committed a crime.”
But every dismissive “zip” “zero” “nilch” “nada” “no evidence” utterance from those on the Left betrays either a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of yesterday’s inquiry or a willful deceptiveness about it. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer set the record straight: “My Democrat colleagues have used this hearing to talk about impeachment — not an inquiry but actual articles of impeachment. We aren’t talking about impeachment today and they know that.”
If Republicans were talking about impeachment yesterday, no one boiled it down or spelled it out better than South Carolina’s William Timmons.
“This Congress has a duty,” said Timmons, “to further investigate whether Vice President Joe Biden was an affable, loving father simply taken advantage of by his delinquent son, or a knowing participant who was complicit in the scheme and financially compensated for his role. That is why we are here today, to answer that simple question, to determine if our current president is compromised.”
Timmons continued: “Look, this scheme is complicated. You’ve got all these countries and all these different roles different people played. But the plan is simple and repeated often. A foreign client has a problem. The foreign client pays a Biden. The vice president leverages influence to force a favorable outcome for the client. The Biden family earns its fee. That’s the scheme.”
Let me simplify our impeachment inquiry for the American people.

We have enormous amounts of evidence of Hunter Biden’s nefarious and illegal activity.
But the question is… was Joe Biden complicit and did he receive a financial benefit?

Again, the plan is simple and repeated often, whether in China, or Russia, or Ukraine, or Romania, or Kazakhstan. Simmons also pointed out that back in 2014, when all this influence peddling started, then-Vice President Joe Biden was staring at retirement from public life, and he made a conscious decision to try to cash in before heading back home to Delaware.
Even more pathetic than the Democrats’ broken-record denialism were the appeals to the Big Guy’s fatherhood. “This entire fake impeachment inquiry isn’t about the United States,” said Florida’s Max Frost. “It’s about Hunter Biden and the only thing the president can be guilty of here is being a father.” Not to be outdone, Texas’s Jasmine Crocker played the “child” card: “I will tell you what the president has been guilty of: He has been guilty of loving this child unconditionally.”

Just after yesterday’s first impeachment inquiry hearing had concluded, Chairman Comer issued three subpoenas for the personal and business bank records of Hunter and James Biden. “Comer,” as Just the News reports, “said the record demands are key to following the money from foreign sources to its final destination.”
The beauty of bank records is that they’re neither Democrat nor Republican. They just are.
The Democrats and their media bodyguards made much of one piece of testimony from one of four Republican witnesses — constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley, who said that he doesn’t believe the evidence as it currently exists supports impeaching Joe Biden. What they failed to report, however, was that he also believed the evidence uncovered so far merited the impeachment inquiry, which is precisely as far as the House GOP has gone. Turley added: “The only way you’ll be able to get that information is to follow this evidence. What I suggest is you do so without any prejudice, you do so without any assumptions. In fact, I hope that the president will be able to show that there is no such nexus. But you won’t get those answers until you ask these questions.”
One thing that not even his fellow Democrats have been trying to defend, though, is Joe Biden’s honor, his integrity, his truthfulness. That’s because they know it’s an untenable position. As The Federalist’s Tristan Justice reports, “While President Biden repeatedly denied any involvement in his son’s business ventures, at least 200 interactions with corporate partners have been documented.”
Indeed, House Republicans have plenty of evidence in the offing. Justice continues: “The Biden family and their close associates, according to House investigators, accrued more than $24 million from foreign sources between 2014 and 2019. The money poured in from foreign business partners across Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Romania, and China, who often dished out millions ‘for no identifiable product or service.’”
So more than 200 foreign “business” interactions and more than $24 million in mysterious payments through at least 20 shell companies. But, no, as ranking member Raskin insists, “There is precisely zero evidence of any wrongdoing whatsoever.”
