Why It’s Imperative We Replace This Administration and the Congressmen Who Support Its Objectives

In these times where political ideology has been destructive of our reasonable economic goals (employment and home-ownership among them), parental responsibilities, including demand for a high quality education for our children inclusive of the Judeo-Christian principles of morality and communal responsibility, the security of our lands, people, and borders, and obtrusive regulations preventing the advancement of business and extraction of our vast national reserves beneficial to our national economy; it is not in our best interest to hold onto our identities as Democrats, Republicans, etc. but to insist on being recognized as Americans, and citizens of this great country we love and call home – The United States of America. In the opening paragraph of Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence, he writes:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, – That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Unalienable Rights

All mankind is created equal in the sight of God. While this concept may not have been upheld by every human, it is true for God. Unalienable rights are those which are not controlled by man, and cannot be granted by man. For example, who among men can give us life? Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness can be taken away by governmental authority, but cannot be given by them. These rights, once lost, must be fought for and recaptured in order to be enjoyed. There is no other way. Thomas Jefferson continues by stating that these rights must be secured, and the primary purpose for instituting a government was to secure these unalienable rights enjoyed by the governed.

Purpose of Government

“That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” We the people of America are not, and were never intended to be, the subjects of our government. The government was supposed to be subject to the will of the people.

Responsibility of the People to Insure their Safety and Happiness

“That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.”

Any government who fails to secure the rights of the governed, or whose actions are destructive to these purposes (special note is given to safety and happiness, or contentment), the people retain have the right and responsibility to change or abolish the existing government in its entirety. Although Thomas Jefferson was referring to the abolition of the entire government under the control of the English king, I am advocating the change of our current administration which has a hammer lock on the future of a capitalist economic system and is adamantly furthering a socialist agenda.

Duty (Responsibility) of the People to Provide new Safeguards for Their Future

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security. –Such has been the patient sufferance of these colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of government.”

We, the people of the United States, Americans by birth, nationalization, and agreement with the principles of one’s right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, have a right, a solemn duty and responsibility, to provide new safeguards for our future security when it becomes obvious we are the victims of a government unconcerned with the needs of its people. Jefferson’s document provoked the English government to declare war on America. We must be able to see that the powers that be are at war with the values, principles, and ideology of the American people. It’s not in the elaborate speeches of our president and congressmen that reveal their abuses of power, but in the decisions and laws that have been enacted in deference to the security and well-being of our citizens. I have created a list of abuses that have been imposed upon us with no regard for the will of the people:

  • They have imposed a tax burden much too heavy to bear with little or no right to question their purpose or the way the monies are spent.
  • They have forced us to be dependent on foreign energy to our own hurt.
  • They sent our loved ones into war without Congressional approval.
  • They imposed upon us a health care program the majority of us do not want with the threat of IRS censure and the payment of severe fines if we fail to acquiesce.
  • They have robbed our Medicare and Social Security funds to pay for an increasing unnecessary debt.
  • They refused to adequately defend our own borders from drug cartels and criminal terrorists, choosing instead to sue our own states for its attempts at safeguarding its citizens, yet, at the expense of American lives, they strive to secure foreign lands and their borders from terrorists that threaten their security.
  • They have successfully drowned us in a sea of debt that our grandchildren will still be paying the interest on long after our demise and refusing to balance the budget.
  • They have allocated funds for other countries to fight street gangs and terrorism but have withheld much needed funding to secure our own cities from fighting domestic terrorists and gangs who kill our children, destroy their minds with drugs, turn our children into dealers and prostitutes, and rob us of our right to live in peace.
  • They have taken away from us, and denied us, the right to have our public educational system include, for the children’s edification, lessons in the principles, values, and moral virtues of life as taught in our Holy Scriptures, and replaced these disciplines with the promotion of sex education and alternate lifestyles we do not teach at home.

Most recently, during the debt ceiling debate, our president went on national television to tell our senior citizens and disabled who depend on their meager Social Security income that their checks may not go out if the bill wasn’t passed. Furthermore, veterans who fought and were disabled were told the same thing, causing fear and alarm among the disadvantaged. Was this in the best interest of our people? Why didn’t he put the 150+ nations to whom we allocate billions of dollars each year on notice that their checks may not be forthcoming? The following statement is indicative of the president’s perception of the American people:

“We don’t need an informed and active citizenry. We are fortunate and uniquely blessed in America to have this professional class of politicians who are paid to worry about these things. Let them handle the debt ceiling….” (Washington Post 7/11/11 by Alexandra Petri)

This statement is contradicted by one of our forefathers, James Madison, who wrote,

“A popular government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance: And a people who mean to be their own Governors, must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.”

We may not be professional politicians, but we can understand what it means not to spend more money than we bring in. Our professional politicians haven’t learned this basic principle of finance. Furthermore, consider the actions of these professional politicians who have changed the way bills are introduced and passed: Four hundred and thirty five congressmen had the opportunity to vote on two bills that were sent to the Senate for passage. One Senator from Nevada, Harry Reid, made the lone decision to table the bills thus preventing the other ninety nine senators of exercising their right to discuss and potentially pass the legislation. But, since our president declared he would veto the bills and that it was a waste of time to send them to his desk, Reid was empowered to act without regard to the will of the people or to the will of the Senate. Was this what the creators of our Constitution intended? Was this the will of all the professional politicians in Washington? Absolutely not, neither is it the will of Americans today.

These are but a few of the many abuses we suffer as Americans. It is abuses like these, the cries for help that fall on deaf ears, the sufferings of our own people with no remedy in sight that gives us the purpose, the determination, and the resolve to replace those in government whose actions have served to rob us of our freedoms, our property, our assets, our hopes and dreams, and have made us vulnerable to foreign takeover of our resources.

Our forefathers were totally unashamed to invoke the person and protections of Almighty God in their deliberations and decisions. Unlike the modern view of the atheists and agnostics, they weren’t establishing a religion: they were declaring a faith in God that exceeded that of religious denominationalism. By faith in God, they committed their lives and fortunes to the freedoms and security they believed God had given to them. And with this faith and confidence in God they engaged the English in a bloody war against government oppression and the suppression of their unalienable rights. They fought for, and many died for, the right to establish their own system of government, and elect representatives that would oversee and manage the national interests important to the everyday life of its citizens – manage for the people, not rule over the people.

The politicians are counting on die hard Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to ignore these abuses, believe their lies once again, and support their reelection to a position of oppressive power over us – the American People. Whether we call ourselves Christians, Jews, or Muslims, we can agree that the principles and statutes that our God demands are pretty much in line with these precepts – justice and equality for all, respect for another’s property, person, and values, consideration for the poor, resistance to oppression, and freedom from domestic and foreign terrorism, among others. As people of faith, we must give in to His will, not our political persuasions, not our liberal or conservative ideologies, to change the political character of our government so that we have representation according to our will and in accordance with our God’s will. To quote George Washington: “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.” As a people, as a religious minded people with values and moral integrity, it is our responsibility to Stand for our Rights, Demand that our Voice be Heard, and Provide a Representative Government that is in agreement with our precepts of freedom and justice. We need representatives who will represent us, the people of the United States, not their political party and its leadership.
