Government: America's New God

By Lloyd Marcus · Jan. 16, 2013

I was around nine years old when dad took me to see the movie, “The Ten Commandments” starring Charlton Heston at the Town Theater in downtown Baltimore. It was a big deal for us because the theater had just begun admitting blacks.

Etched in my brain is the scene when Moses came down from the mountain to witness the Israelites engrossed in an orgy of self-indulgence celebrating the new god they created, a golden calf. They had abandoned God to worship a man-made false god.

I chastised fellow black Christians for worshiping a false god of skin-color, monolithic voting to give Obama a second term despite their awareness of his anti-biblical agenda. However, I have come to realize that the insidious spirit of anti-Christ emanating from the Obama Administration has spread far and wide.

All historical rules for winning and losing elections do not apply to Obama. His political bullying power and irrational status as a cult hero are unprecedented.

But here is the kicker and most scariest truth about America's zombie-like loyalty to Obama. November 6, 2012, half the country, which includes millions of Christians, chose a Democrat and media man-made “golden man” idol as their “new” Lord and Savior. Amazingly, actor and Obama disciple Jamie Foxx admitted it.

While Obama appears to be the “golden” idol and focus of worship, America's real new false god is Government, hidden inside behind Obama's well-crafted shiny gold exterior.

The Israelites surrendered the gold items (their inheritance) brought with them from Egypt to build their new golden calf idol. In like fashion, Democrats and the media convinced millions of Americans to surrender their biblical principles, freedom and liberty (their birthright) to build a golden idol of government. Many Americans have abandoned God to worship Government, a new supposed all-powerful and all-giving man-made false god. Dear Lord, help us!

The Bible warns that false prophets will arise and deceive many. (Matthew 24:4-5)

Obama is a false prophet. He persuaded millions to vote their vested interest, sacrificing biblical principles, law, freedom and liberty. I am hearing of more black Christian pastors in worship of their new god Obama/Government, coming out in favor of gay marriage. While Jesus praised investors and rebuked the coward afraid to invest in the parable of the talents, Obama has demonized investors – branding them reckless and greedy.

God's word says prosperity is achieved via hard work.“You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.” – Psalms 128:2

Proverbs 10:4: “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.”

Obama, in essence, calls God a liar by declaring that prosperity is achieved via government redistribution.

Rest assured, Democrats and the media will pull out all the stops to make Obama's second inauguration just short of the second coming – an All-Hail-to-Our-King/Messiah spectacular. I wouldn't put it pass Obama's special effects buddies in Hollywood to arrange for his entrance to feature him descending from the heavens on a cloud as Beyonce and a mass choir sings “Hosanna to Our King”.

As in the movie, “The Ten Commandments”, Obama's inauguration will be an orgy of idolatry in worship of the Left's golden man who is really fronting for their god, Government. Millions will offer up tears of admiration.

The American Left (Socialists/Progressives) are elated. Finally, there is a new god in town and it “ain't” the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob nor our Founding Fathers. Is the Left's jubilation justified? Do a majority of Americans now look to Obama/Government to supply ALL their needs, including deciding who lives and who dies (death panels buried in Obamacare), rather than the God on which our country was founded?

Unquestionably, Obama's reelection has emboldened his disciples to politically bludgeon us into submission to their Godless agenda. For example: Obama-ites are attempting to bully/punish the Pope and the Catholic Church for not embracing homosexuality.

Using typical Democrat tactics of lies and misdirection, Obama-ites claimed conservatives had a “War on Women”, while hiding their real horrific War on Babies. Planned Parenthood's annual report showed record profits and a record number of abortions, 333,964 in 2011. I wonder if the geniuses who could have cured Cancer and AIDS were among the murdered?

Taxpayers, against their will, funded PP with $542 million. Further usurping divine authority and sticking his finger in the eye of God, Obama has decreed (mandated in Obamacare) that Christians will fund abortion and contraceptive services against their faith.

My fellow Americans, we are in the midst of a cultural and spiritual war for the heart, mind and soul of America. Moses asked, “Who is on the Lord's side, let him come unto me.” I ask the same.

Ted R. Weiland in Nebraska said:

Lloyd, thank you for insights, but I would say that government is and always has been god. Let me rephrase that: Because all governments are based upon law and all law reflects someone's morality (or immorality as the case may be and usually is) and the source of morality when traced back to its source reflects either Yahweh or another god, all governments (including the Constitutional Republic) represent either Yahweh or another god.

Let me put it another way: "There is no escaping theocracy. A government’s laws reflect its morality, and the source of that morality (or, more often than not, immorality) is its god. It is never a question of theocracy or no theocracy, but whose theocracy. The American people, by way of their elected officials, are the source of the Constitutional Republic’s laws. Therefore, the Constitutional Republic’s god is WE THE PEOPLE.

"People recoil at the idea of a theocracy’s morality being forced upon them, but because all governments are theocracies, someone’s morality is always being enforced. This is an inevitability of government. The question is which god, theocracy, laws, and morality will we choose to live under?" Excerpted from "The Preamble: WE THE PEOPLE vs. YAHWEH" at http://www.missiontoisrael.org/biblelaw-constitutionalism-pt3.php.

Obama and today's government is just the inevitable consequence of what the framers began in 1789.

Great article... and Ted, you're even closer to the target! Keep up the Good Work... and, from a hymn over a hundred years old: God Send Us Men!

God Send Us Men
Lyrics written 1909 by Frederick J. Gillman (1866-1949)
Published: 1916 / Tune: Kedron, 1799

God send us men whose aim 'twill be
Not to defend some ancient creed,
But to live out the laws of Christ
In every thought and word and deed.

God send us men alert and quick
His lofty precepts to translate,
Until the laws of Christ become
The laws and habits of the state.

God send us men of steadfast will,
Patient, courageous, strong and true,
With vision clear and mind equipped
His will to learn, his work to do.

God send us men with hearts ablaze,
All truth to love, all wrong to hate;
These are the patriots nations need;
These are the bulwarks of the state.

David in Mountain View Missouri replied:

Lets stop playing word games Ted, we all here know laws are morality of some sort codified. You are seeking to advocate for a different form of government as if that will fix all our problems, but it will not. We will be just as corrupt as we are now and fail much easier as the Book of Judges shows us over and over. There is nothing evil about the form of government set up by the Founding Fathers, in fact it is based on a from of government directly out of the Bible. In the Old Testament they had the king or God which is the Executive Branch, they had the Princes of Israel and elders who acted as the Legislative Branch and they had the judges, through the High Priest with God as the last Judge, just as we have the Judicial branch.

Just as the Founding Father warned and told us in the quotes below, for any government to be godly, it must be run by Christian men. No amount of codifying of the Bible into civil law will make that government more godly as can be seen by the government of the Pharisees or the Holy Roman Empire.

John Adams in a speech to the military in 1798 warned his fellow countrymen stating, "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion . . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

Noah Webster, author of the first American Speller and the first Dictionary said, "[T]he Christian religion, in its purity, is the basis, or rather the source of all genuine freedom in government. . . . and I am persuaded that no civil government of a republican form can exist and be durable in which the principles of that religion have not a controlling influence."

Gouverneur Morris, Penman and Signer of the Constitution. "[F]or avoiding the extremes of despotism or anarchy . . . the only ground of hope must be on the morals of the people. I believe that religion is the only solid base of morals and that morals are the only possible support of free governments. [T]herefore education should teach the precepts of religion and the duties of man towards God."

Ted R. Weiland in Nebraska replied:

Here we go again! Your cherry-picked quotations from the founders/framers proves nothing about the Constitution. By this standard, I can cherry pick Obama's quotations and make all of his executive orders Biblical too.

There is only one standard by which everything (including the framers and the Constitution) must be ethically judged--that is, Yahweh's morality as codified in His commandments, statutes, and judgments. Do you agree or disagree, David?

David in Mountain View Missouri replied:

The quotes are in answer to your assumption of their intentions which was false as these quotes show. And as to the U. S. Constitution I have explained briefly in my first comment how it, via the form of government it sets up does indeed line up with the Bible. It is not perfect, but it is the best this world has seen in this New Covenant age or can see in this age.

I agree. By this standard we all fall “short of the glory of God”(Rom. 3:23” , whats your point? Anything made by man’s hands will be imperfect, whether it’s the government set up by our wise Founding Fathers or your idea for a government. I choose to stick with a form of government that I know has, does and can still work, instead of one I know is doomed to immediate failure. If we would act and take responsibility for today’s problems instead seeking to blame men who have been dead for 200 years, we can actually get somewhere.

Tell me, how do you purpose to do better than Joshua, Caleb, Samson, Ehud, etc? It’s a question anyone advocating this Preterist/Reconstructist theocracy theology needs to answer. You are trying to sell your plan, but I and many others are not buying because you have not shown us how it is a better plan then reviving our form of government as the Founders began it. The judges in the Book of Judges had Levitical priests and direct links to God yet their government and nation fell over and over. It was invaded over and over, and the Israelites were enslaved over and over. I don’t see how that is better than fixing what we had. So I ask, how will we do better than Joshua, Caleb, Ehud, etc?

Ted R. Weiland in Nebraska replied:

If you agree then you're obliged to expose and condemn everything wherein the framers established anything contrary to that standard. To do otherwise is to reject Yahweh and His sovereignty and morality.

Monday, January 21, 2013 at 5:27 PM

David in Mountain View Missouri replied:

I do not claim that they or anything they do is perfect, but you have not shown how your way is better so why would I leave behind the best we have every had in this New Covenant age?

Ted R. Weiland in Nebraska replied:

Once again, you've avoided addressing what said.

David in Mountain View Missouri replied:

I will quote a wise man:
“The type of government that you seek, is impossible as long as there are fallen men living on this planet. What we need is government "of the Messiah, by the Messiah, and for the Messiah." Imagine how wonderful that will be! It will not happen, though, until the Messiah reigns on His Throne in Jerusalem. Until then, perfect government cannot exist here on planet earth. Until then, what the away the best, abandoned their public responsibility, and even the voting process itself. That is why we are now in this terrible mess. The government you see today is NOT what the founders gave to us.” Murray Bass

Ted R. Weiland in Nebraska replied:

So, ONCE AGAIN, David, what you really saying is that mankind is better off beginning with man's fickle and usually immoral laws rather than Yahweh's immutable perfect moral laws as the basis for society. Yes, man will always fall short, but, please tell me which of two above provide him with a better shot of straying less?

Monday, January 28, 2013 at 12:08 PM

David in Mountain View Missouri replied:

In case you didn't catch it the first time:

Watchman on the Wall in Idaho replied:

That will undoubtedly be true. Because both Republicans and Democrats are owned and controlled by the same wealthy and powerful global elites who sit on the CFR and the other arms of our shadow government which is really pulling the strings of power behind the curtains. This is not new. It has been going on in one form or another for at least the last 100 years. We're just now waking up to this reality.

The question for all of us is will we truly wake up and demand a return to our American roots as Christian Israel serving the one true God, or will we continue to tolerate and compromise with evil a while longer and say or do very little to oppose it? Biblical end times prophecy tells us the answer. For the short term, it is not encouraging. For the longer term, for true Christians of all races, it is very good news. For those who are not, it will be very bad news.

Choose now this day, whom you will serve. As for me, I have chosen to serve the Lord Yahushua (Jesus) and to oppose and expose the evil wherever I see it.

I agree Ted Weiland.
ALL sin comes down to the two 1 against GOD 2 Against mankind... all the law hinges upon them. Ultimately it's breaking all of the law by breaking one and you can't obey the rest unless you work with the first in harmony with HIS whole word. We can't serve two masters.

John E. in Canada said:

"Who is on the Lord's side, let him come unto me."

Indeed, that basic question has never changed, nor will it ever change. Our God is either Yahweh--the One True God of the Bible--, the God all-sufficient (or Almighty, depending on your translation), as He introduced Himself to Abraham; The God who came in the person of Jesus Christ to die on the cross to redeem His own, that they may live in obedience and submission to Him in all things, or our "god" is but an idol. Too many people have chosen idols, and government has certainly become a genuine idol of choice for countless millions. What do we always hear as the proposed solution to any given problem: "Oh, the government should take care of that; why isn't the government doing something....." etc, etc. All men must take heed that we can only serve ONE God. Moses warned the Israelites sharply of the dire consequences of going astray and serving other gods; let us all take care to heed Moses' words.
