America, You’ve Been Snookered!

Let me start by saying that America is a very special country. The freedoms we have enjoyed in this country have allowed us to be more creative and prosperous than most peoples or countries around the world. The economic freedom of the free market and capitalism has allowed more socio-economic mobility than any other economic system. People are able to move out of poverty to wealth and vice versa.

America is the only country in the history of the entire world that was founded on the idea that the people have God given rights. These rights given to human beings by God give the power to the people. In order to have an organized society, the people then voluntarily give some limited and specified powers to various governments (local, State and Federal). All proper government is the servant of the people. No other country has ever been based on these beliefs! What other country has a written Constitution limiting and controlling its (Federal) government and a Bill of Rights guaranteeing the people’s rights will not be violated by the government?

Needless to say, the rulers and power-brokers around the world have never liked this. After all, human nature being what it is, people in power tend to work at accumulating more and more power. We all know that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Therefore, rulers, leaders and other power-brokers are all too often corrupt and egocentric. If you have a leader who is an ideologue as well as power hungry, “the end justifies the means” becomes the mode of operation. Many horrible deeds have been committed under the belief that “the end justifies the means”. This past century showed us many examples of the evil that can come from an ideologue pursuing a communist or socialist end.

From the very beginning of communism, it has been an obvious evil. Karl Marx, the philosopher who is considered the Father of Communism, never worked a day in his life. Even though he was an educated man, he chose to not work to support his wife or children – four of whom died from the conditions of poverty they lived in (starved). If it had not been for the charity of his friend, Frederick Engels, they probably would have all starved. If letting your children starve while you sit writing your philosophy of how the people should be cared for in a utopian world instead of trying to work in order to support and feed them isn’t the ultimate hypocrisy and evil, I’m not sure what is.

Karl Marx wrote, “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need”. This sounds good in theory but never works with human nature. Utopian society cannot exist with imperfect human beings. Unfortunately too many individuals are suckered in by the nice theory and don’t see (or don’t want to see) the harmful effects of this theory put into practice.

In every country that has become communist – political imprisonment and executions, starvation and hardships for the masses is the norm. Only the ruling elite live well in these societies where allegedly everyone is equal and benefits equally from the labors of the people.

Many in the United States liked the theory of communism, after all it sounds so nice and “fair”. Many educators and politicians, as well as those in the entertainment industry, became proponents. Our Founding Principles were taught and emphasized less and less over the years. Principles that support communism/socialism began to pervade the culture. Consequentially, principles of communism and socialism have become a commonly accepted philosophy and many in our country see nothing wrong with it being practiced here in America. Unfortunately, socialism and capitalism cannot exist together. An economic system with private property where you own what you worked for and can control what you do with it cannot coexist with an economic system where there is government or collective ownership of everything and the government or group decides what will be done with it. Like matter and anti-matter, they cannot exist in the same place.

The principle of economic freedom expressed in capitalism, the economic foundation of the United States, has created more mobility for individuals between being poor and being rich than any other economic system but not everyone approves of capitalism. An influential American who disapproved of a system of private property was Saul Alinsky. While not a communist himself, he was definitely anti-capitalist and condemned the American system. He taught, and wrote instructions, on how to change America. Instead of being attached to an end result (i.e. communism), he advocated to destroy the current system in America and just see what evolved after its death. This nonattachment to a specific end allowed him, and those trained in his methods, the ability to take advantage of any situation that arose. (Remember Rahm Emanuel saying “never let a crisis go to waste”? That is an Alinsky principle. You can get people to agree or submit to things they never would permit if not in the emotional chaos that happens during a crisis.) He believed in working within the system in order to destroy it. After the riots at the 1968 Democratic Convention, when his followers asked if he still wanted them to work in the system, Alinsky told them to go home organize, gain power and at the next convention “you be the delegates.”(Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky p xxiii)

Those who studied Saul Alinsky’s teachings and put them into practice are called Alinskyites. An Alinskyite’s purpose is to take power (and property/money) from the haves and give it to the have-nots. Two of his students, Richard Cloward and Francis Piven, both Marxist sociologists, developed a strategy about how to take down the capitalist system in America. They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands.

Let’s jump forward in time. What do we have now in America? At the Federal level:

  1. We have a congress with a lot of elected liberals/progressives who support many of the socialists ideas that have become an accepted part of our society’s thinking. Some members are openly socialists and some are actually declared communists. All members of Congress took an oath of office saying they would support and defend the Constitution, yet the Congress frequently violates it. When asked where the Constitution gave Congress the power to regulate healthcare, Nancy Pelosi actually ridiculed the question.

  2. We have a bureaucracy full of unelected and unaccountable people making rules and regulations that have the power of law. This is the fourth and totally unconstitutional branch of our Federal Government. Lawmaking happens to be the Constitutional job of Congress but they have passed this responsibility off to the agencies they have created, and Congress doesn’t even exercise supervision over the rules of many of these agencies!

  3. We have a president who: was mentored as a youth by Frank Marshal Davis – a communist kept under observation by the FBI; who wrote that at college he sought out the radical students and professors; who not only studied Saul Alinsky’s methods but actually taught them for years to members of ACORN.

  4. We have a Supreme Court that has far exceeded the intended limits of its power! The Constitution is the supreme law of the United States and the Supreme Court is supposed to judge the cases it takes according to the Constitution. However, we have several activist judges that will quote foreign law and even their personal opinions in their judgments.

What else do we have?

– We have a plethora of socialist style entitlement programs that are driving our debt sky high. The unfunded liabilities of these programs are not even included in the debt estimates!

– We have bureaucratic agencies issuing hundreds of laws enforcing liberal agendas that the liberals have not been able to get made law by the Congress: the EPA with Cap and Trade rules after it didn’t pass Congress; immigration reform styled like the Dream act after Congress voted the Dream Act Bill down.

– A president that has proposed budgets so outrageous that not even one member of his own party will vote for them!

– A Democrat controlled Senate that hasn’t even presented a proposed budget for the last four years despite the fact that this is one of their Constitutional responsibilities.

– A Congress that continues to permit the government to overspend and to continue functioning for the past several years by passing Continuing Resolutions instead of doing its job.

All in all, even this brief review of what we have now is pretty sad. A great deal of the people’s power has been assumed by the Federal government and it is abusing that power.

We constantly see Alinsky methods being used – deceptive wording that can be interpreted many different ways, i.e. “change” and “forward”; personal attacks demonizing individuals in order to discredit them or their ideas; divide and conquer techniques setting one group against another – wealthy versus poor, black versus white, etc.; avoiding the question; changing the subject or distorting what was said; the abandonment of ethics and morals.

The Cloward and Piven plan of destroying America has obviously been put in motion and is working well. We have multiple huge entitlement programs and Obama has been working successfully to enlarge them. We have an annual deficit in spending of well over a trillion dollars every year for the last four years. We have yet again hit the debt ceiling and owe over 16.4 trillion dollars in current debt – this does not include the unfunded liabilities from the entitlement programs! Yes. The plan is working well. Even Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, a communist and a former KGB agent, was reported in Pravda (the Russian news source) saying that the communists won in America with Obama and America is destroying itself.

Hard working and freedom loving Americans have been playing political checkers while their enemies have been playing political chess and we are now in “check”. America, you have been snookered.
