Which Conservative Should Succeed Obama?

It is quite obvious that the 112th Congress would rather continue confrontation with an imposter in the People’s White House. To elevate a real idiot to a position for which he is equally equipped means starting over. Discounting anything untoward happening which could change the status quo, We the People must elect a person of substance to be our Chief Executive.

When I look at the present purported contenders, I am less than comforted. I am also befuddled by the absence of the names of good candidates.

Let’s consider a few of the most mentioned possibilities and scrutinize that which they bring to the table. Among the top three most mentioned are men carrying far too much excess baggage.

First is Newt Gingrich who constantly vacillates; maybe yes, maybe no, it all depends. Newt is a smart, even brilliant politician. There’s the rub. Newt is the consummate politician in the pejorative sense. He is a compromiser, a deal maker which is OK up to a point, but not for an American President. The Constitution must be the Bible for our Chief Executive. Compromising and deal making are more in the balliwick of the members of the House and occasionally the Senate. Scratch Newt the book salesman.

Then there is Good ol’ boy Mike Huckabee. He is an ordained minister, a guitar pickin’ musician and a dyed-in-the-wool, smiling, hand-shaking POLITICIAN. He too, like Gingrich, vacillates. Scratch Huckabee.

Tim Pawlenty lacks name recognition, a fatal flaw. Scratch.

Mitt Romney has too much political experience with some troubling baggage. The Massachusetts Health Care Reform he signed into law when he served as Governor smacks that of Obamacare. He looks presidential but is worrisome. He has a tendency to take a position only after he sees which way the wind is blowing. Scratch Romney.

Ron Paul seems like a perennial candidate; a man who personifies Libertarianism and is a far cry from legitimate conservatism. Too radical and too inflexible. Scratch Paul.

Ex Tennessee Senator and short-run 2008 presidential candidate, What’s his name? Scratch.

Fred Karger, a California gay activist and political consultant (to whom?) Scratch.

Herman Cain, a black businessman and radio talk show host from Georgia. Scratch.

Jimmy McMillan, a black perennial candidate from New York. Scratch.

Buddy Roemer, Former Governor of Louisiana. Scratch.

Governor Haley Barbour of Mississippi, a power broker and unreliable conservative. Scratch.

Governor Mitch Daniels of Indiana has insufficient name recognition nationally. Scratch.

Former Senator Judd Gregg of New Hampshire is too close to Obama’s influence. Scratch.

Rudy Giuliani has far too much baggage coupled with guile; an unreliable conservative. Scratch.

John Bolton, Former Ambassador to the UN is far too volatile and un-statesmanlike. Scratch.

Not worth consideration at this point in our history are John Huntsman, Jr. of Utah, Gary E. Johnson of New Mexico, Steve King of Iowa, George Pataki of New York, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Bob Riley of Alabama, Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania and Donald Trump of New York and the rest of the world as whim dictates.

What or who is missing from this list?

As usual, the media have either become pitifully forgetful or simply ignored the obvious. There is a gracious, highly qualified, perfectly aged, and decidedly conservative lady serving in the 112th Congress who obviously has the experience and the desirable qualities Americans demand in their Presidents. Michele Bachmann has everything positive we could find in our past Chief Executives except gender.

We have tried virtually every combination with some huge successes, some major blunders and much mediocrity. Both the Democrats and the Republicans have exercised a modicum of good sense on two separate occasions, neither with a viable candidate. She was an early supporter of the Tea Party movement, an expression of the wishes of We the People and formed the Tea Party Caucus in the House of Representatives. An objective read of her biography will make you a fan. She will be 55 this April, mature, educated and elegant; a perfect poster person for Our White House.

Sarah Palin has more name recognition than any other prospective Republican Presidential Hopeful in 2012. She, too, is mature, elegant and educated and could well be elected on her own to the Office of President with some much lesser light as the VP. Sarah is just eight years younger than Michele. If all the stars align favorably, President Bachmann would serve for eight years and Sarah could logically serve eight more.

In all honesty, I cannot think of a better duo to win the conservative battle, dump the RINOs and get rid of the socialist-democratic faction currently in power. Americans deserve much better than we have been getting.
