The Foundation

"Enlightened statesmen will not always be at the helm." --James Madison

Editorial Exegesis

The health care summit is an "evil" trap

"A mere three days before President Obama's supposedly bipartisan health-care summit, the White House [Monday] released a new blueprint that Democrats say they will ram through Congress with or without Republican support. So after election defeats in Virginia, New Jersey and even Massachusetts, and amid overwhelming public opposition, Democrats have decided to give the voters what they don't want anyway. Ah, the glory of 'progressive' governance and democratic consent. 'The President's Proposal,' as the 11-page White House document is headlined, is in one sense a notable achievement: It manages to take the worst of both the House and Senate bills and combine them into something more destructive. It includes more taxes, more subsidies and even less cost control than the Senate bill. And it purports to fix the special-interest favors in the Senate bill not by eliminating them -- but by expanding them to everyone. ... The larger political message of this new proposal is that Mr. Obama and Democrats have no intention of compromising on an incremental reform, or of listening to Republican, or any other, ideas on health care. They want what they want, and they're going to play by Chicago Rules and try to dragoon it into law on a narrow partisan vote via Congressional rules that have never been used for such a major change in national policy. If you want to know why Democratic Washington is 'ungovernable,' this is it." --The Wall Street Journal

Insight

"The state tends to expand in proportion to its means of existence and to live beyond its means, and these are, in the last analysis, nothing but the substance of the people. Woe to the people that cannot limit the sphere of action of the state! Freedom, private enterprise, wealth, happiness, independence, personal dignity, all vanish." --French economist Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850)

"People unfit for freedom -- who cannot do much with it -- are hungry for power. The desire for freedom is an attribute of a 'have' type of self. It says: leave me alone and I shall grow, learn, and realize my capacities. The desire for power is basically an attribute of a 'have not' type of self." --writer and philosopher Eric Hoffer (1902-1983)

"The world is weary of statesmen whom democracy has degraded into politicians." --British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881)

Upright

"Offering 'comprehensive' reform usually means years of arguing and horse-trading among pressure groups to get anything done. By the time all the special interests are appeased or bought off, the resulting elephantine legislation typically looks nothing like what was intended. In short, big-government medicine usually doesn't work on big-government sickness. If President Obama wants 'comprehensive' change, it would be better simply not to spend any more money we don't have." --historian Victor Davis Hanson

"[Barack Obama failed to sell a health care reform plan to American voters] because the utter implausibility of its central promise -- expanded coverage at lower cost -- led voters to conclude that it would lead ultimately to more government, more taxes and more debt." --columnist Charles Krauthammer

"Don't ever let anyone tell you that history doesn't repeat. For 70 years, liberals have been spinning the yarn that FDR's New Deal, despite all the evidence that it exacerbated and prolonged the Great Depression, quickened our economic recovery. Indeed, I remember scratching my head when one of my college history professors in the 1970s tried to convince us of that theory and its corollary -- an even better howler -- that FDR was actually a conservative, because if he hadn't implemented his socialist programs, the republic would have died right there." --columnist David Limbaugh

"This is a perfect snapshot of the West at twilight. On the one hand, governments of developed nations microregulate every aspect of your life in the interests of 'keeping you safe.' ... On the other hand, when it comes to 'keeping you safe' from real threats, such as a millenarian theocracy that claims universal jurisdiction, America and its allies do nothing. ... It is now certain that Tehran will get its nukes, and very soon. This is the biggest abdication of responsibility by the Western powers since the 1930s." --columnist Mark Steyn

"In the early aftermath of the suicidal pilot's attack [in Austin], there was no evidence that Stack belonged to a Tea Party organization. In any case, no law-abiding Tea Party group would ever condone what he did. But it didn't stop the haters from immediately smearing advocates of limited government. And it's just the latest in a long line of calculated attempts to paint the vast majority of peaceful Tea Party activists as terrorist threats to civil society. ... The smear merchants, of course, are simply following Rahm Emanuel's advice to exploit every crisis." --columnist Michelle Malkin

"Why should we capitalists go green? To do so is simply to exchange our technological, industrial, and energy superiority for a lie. ... Capitalism is about progressing via the ingenuity and excellence of minds unfettered by government regulations and interference. But environmentalism based on the man-made global warming theory is about regressing from the advances that unfettered minds have made. It's also about pushing the government to regulate and interfere at every step along the way." --columnist AWR Hawkins

The Demo-gogues

The definition of chutzpah: "After a decade of profligacy, the American people are tired of politicians who talk the talk but don't walk the walk when it comes to fiscal responsibility. It's easy to get up in front of the cameras and rant against exploding deficits. What's hard is actually getting deficits under control. But that's what we must do. Like families across the country, we have to take responsibility for every dollar we spend." --Barack Obama

Taxes are going up: "Everything's on the table. That's how this thing is going to work." --Barack Obama after creating a deficit commission on whether he would raise taxes on families earning less than $250,000 a year

Shut up, he explained: "They should stop crying about reconciliation as if it's never been done before." --Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) (It's never been done on a bill of this magnitude before.)

"So I do believe that there is more fertile soil today than when we first took this up." --House Democrat Whip James Clyburn, of South Carolina, weighing in not on all those "shovel ready" supposed job-starting projects of the "stimulus" but on the Demo plan for the government takeover of U.S. medical care.

You don't say: "Health care has been knocking me around pretty good." --Barack Obama, who still hasn't learned his lesson

Speaking of being knocked around: "Men, when they're out of work, tend to become abusive." --Harry Reid ("Many observers have speculated that Reid is likely to lose his job at the end of the current term. ... Is something going to happen to Mrs. Reid if Nevadans don't re-elect this senator?" --Wall Street Journal columnist James Taranto)

Non sequitur: "We have countries like China, which don't have to go through the democratic processes that we do, that order factories to move to deal with their air pollution." --Sen. Tom Udall (D-NM), urging his fellow senators to pass cap-n-tax

Ax not what your country can do for you... "[A]s a condition of receiving access to Title I funds we will ax all states to put in place a plan to adopt and certify standards that are college and career ready in reading and math." --the eloquent orator Barack Obama, emphasis added, because yes, he did say "ax" -- see the video (We guess Harry Reid was right.)

Dezinformatsia

The BIG Lie: "Democrats and Republicans agree that Republicans are picking up seats in the mid-term elections. What the White House can do -- what they're trying to do -- is to achieve a health care bill. People still want that." --ABC's George Stephanopoulos

Willing accomplices: "White House adjusts strategy on Republicans -- The Obama administration aims to put members of the GOP on the spot, forcing them to compromise on issues or be portrayed as obstructionists." --Los Angeles Times headline and sub-headline

Sympathetic stories: "Big fanfare this week. The Obama administration fanned out across the country, 'the stimulus worked.' The president made speeches, sounded a little frustrated that people don't get it, at least polls show, that they don't understand there were tax cuts and things like that. What did they do wrong? They're playing defense on what was one of their major accomplishments. What did the White House, the president do wrong in explaining, presenting and selling it?" --ABC's Terry Moran (He lied through his teeth about all of it, that's what.)

Supreme arrogance: "In trying to explain our political paralysis, analysts cite President Obama's tactical missteps, the obstinacy of congressional Republicans, rising partisanship in Washington, and the Senate filibuster, which has devolved into a super-majority threshold for important legislation. These are large factors to be sure, but that list neglects what may be the biggest culprit of all: the childishness, ignorance, and growing incoherence of the public at large." --Newsweek's Jacob Weisberg, revealing what the elitists think of the American people

The innocent media: "When a news executive goes out there and states a crazy accusation like that ... it only ends up probably hurting what they're trying to do, but ... it only denigrates all of us.... And, I'm sorry, there are certain news organizations out here whose agenda is to undermine the 90 percent of journalists who are just simply trying to cover stories out there." --MSNBC'S Chuck Todd reacting to Fox News Washington managing editor Bill Sammon's statement that "the mainstream media hates the Tea Party movement almost as much as it hates Sarah Palin."

Village Idiots

On health care: "My hope is that the country understands that we need to do this." --First Lady Michelle Obama (And we all know what "we" means when spoken by an Obama -- government. Government "needs" to expand its power.)

RINO lecture: "I would caution my Republican friends that [Obama has] three years to go, and in that three years the American people are going to want to see some progress and not just claims that this guy is out of office and we're going to do everything to destroy him or that somehow he is a 'socialist' taking over the country. Have we so lost our faith in this country that we think one person, one man can be can suddenly change our entire system? That's kind of absurd." --retired Gen. Colin Powell

Disdain: "The Tea Baggers, they're not a movement, they're a cult.... Cults tend to populate from within, encouraging members to have huge broods of children and to give them strange names, like Moonbeam, and Trig." --HBO's Bill Maher, who probably will support Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown for California governor and who ignores the Obama-worship cult to which he bends his knee

Short Cuts

"The president says he doesn't want to make a theatrical production of it, but since the president himself is a theatrical production, it's difficult to see how the great health care summit can be anything but. Mr. Obama is fond of saying how he wants his presidency to be 'transparent,' and he's making it easy to see through what he and the Democrats are doing. The Democratic task at hand is to animate a corpse with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and who wants to volunteer for that? But Mr. Obama is determined to prop it up for a vote." --Washington Times editor emeritus Wesley Pruden

"Secretary of State Clinton dared Iran on Monday to let her hold a town hall meeting in Tehran. That's telling 'em. If the ayatollahs had a sense of humor, they'd call her bluff." --columnist Mark Steyn

"Remember that great scene from the Oscar-robbed classic 'The Blues Brothers'? Jake and Elwood (John Belushi and Dan Akroyd) are finally cornered by Jake's former fiancée (Carrie Fisher). Jake left her at the altar with 300 guests and the best Romanian caterers in the state waiting. 'You betrayed me!' she exclaims. 'No I didn't. Honest,' Jake explains. 'I ran out of gas. I, I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!' This is pretty much how Democrats sound these days. None of their problems are their fault. ... Coming soon: A terrible flood! Locusts! Anything and everything to avoid admitting their problems are their own fault." --columnist Jonah Goldberg

We have to thank Obama and company for revealing to the gullible American voters what the Democratic party really is. An arrogant bunch of profligate spenders of other peoples money to keep control of the "honey pot" tax payers. This November will tell if the gullible American voter will "get it" The untruthful and specious "Democrat leaders" Reid and Pelosi, that have much to fear in holding their positions

Maybe the voters will actually do their duty(if acorn does'nt try to steal another election)

From Katie Kouric to Stephanopolous to Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Hoyer, et. al., they are all delusional -- and I mean that in a Clinical sense. I don't mean that they don't get. I mean that they CAN'T get it. They hear voices which prevent them from making rational, independent decisions because they've given substance to their own fantasies. Consider carefully the fact that we are being governed by people as demented as was George III of England near the end of his life. One of the matrices of insanity is that its manifestations and delusions expand and accelerate, almost like a snowball rolling downhill, pushing aside all attempts to rein them in, to inject even a modicum of cognitive recognition. After a time, not even palpable threats have any effect. That's why the frustration level of We, the People, is rising; that's why the Colonial Militia took up arms against the British at Concord Bridge.

One change that would help immensely if EVERYONE -including the wonderful Patriot Post- would STOP referring to Obama as "President"! Until we know that he is actually an American by birth, he has no right to be addressed or referred to by the appellation given to honorable men from 1789 to 2007! "Obama" will serve nicely until we know for certain!

Ted. Please let me know what problems are directly the fault of democratic ideas. Truth and facts only. >>>>>>>What we're confronted with is a philosophic issue, not an economic or legal one. At the heart of our "problems," as you say, is our inability to clarify what the PRINCIPIUM INPRIMIS -- the First Principles -- are. In his tome, "Two Treatises of Government," John Locke wrote that men possess three Instincts -- for Life, Liberty and Property -- and it is the duty of government to guarantee them all. First in importance (ahead of Life and Liberty) is Property. For over 1,500 years, from the fall of Rome to the American Revolt against Britain, only the Gentry, the Aristocracy, owned Property. The serfs were chattel to the Manor Lord. The serfs owned nothing in and of themselves. They couldn't even claim title to their own bodies. Only the Manor Lord could claim control over his own life and liberty. Locke argued that to take away the Right (the Instinct) to own Property is to take away Life and Liberty as well. The Founders spoke at great length of Natural Rights -- i.e., God-given -- and wrote and fought this Nation into existence to protect, preserve and transmit the "blessings of Liberty to [their] posterity." They instituted a LIMITED government and wrote down what its limits were to be in a Constitution. Underpinning all of what they brought to life was this First Principle: The Instinct and Natural Right to own Property. To abrogate that Principle is to abrogate all other Rights. Thus, the IRS is an agent of tyranny, given flesh by a Congress which disregards the Founders' insistence that government must never be permitted to take from We, the People, what belongs to us. If government becomes abusive, Jefferson wrote, it MUST be disposed of and one to The People's liking put in its place. All of today's "problems" stem from that First Principle: Government must not be permitted to take The People's property. To do so is to take their Liberty and their Lives as well. That Principle follows as surely as the night follows day. All of our "problems" spring from The People's acquiescing to having their Property taken from them.

Ted...you are funny...

All politicians do it, but your benevolent Obama lied through his teeth on the campaign trail. Transparent governance, what a joke. Debates on major issues on C-SPAN...nope. Working with Republicans on major issues...nope. Tax and spend...yup. Fudging jobs numbers...yup. Behind closed doors, no Republicans allowed policy making...yup.

Why oh why couldn't they progress this extremely socialistic agenda of theirs when they had filibuster proof numbers. The people don't want it, that's why. If you don't believe me just wait till November and you will see what happens.

By the way, Republicans do have ideas for progress, they just get shot down at every turn. And as far as fear of the future is concerned, I for one fear becoming a socialist society. Smaller government and stop spending our money...it's your money too Ted.

As for what did the democrats do that is their fault, take a look at the deficit Ted. I know they can't take all of the blame but they are increasing it like no other. They also plan on making it bigger. No one alive has EVER spent their way out of debt... no one. Fiscal responsibility is what it takes, not tax increases so they can spend on pet projects (John Murthas airport).

This happens on both sides of the aisle Ted, don't get me wrong. Obama also said he would not have any lobbyists in the WH...last count was 27. What is wrong with that picture?

These are just a few examples from an average guy, I know it won't sway you from the dark side, but this stuff is common knowledge. If I were able to research more indepth answers for you I would.

Also take a look at our S.S. system, that is working out well isn't it.

@Robert G. As I posted earlier From 2000 to 2009 The deficit rose from 4 trillion to 11 trillion, is that what you consider fiscal responsibility? Most of Obama's deficit came in the form of bailing out the failed economic policies of the previous administration

Rocky

Progressives are fooled by their own logic. Certain aspects of ObamCare poll well. So they reason that the overall bill should be wildly popular. Since it clearly isn’t, they reason that the problem must be messaging. Either they aren’t able to explain it well enough, or we just are being duped by a clever campaign against the bill. Unfortunately for progressives the American people are a lot smarter than that. Sure, they like some of the benefits this bill might provide, but they hate the costs, and I don’t mean just dollars. Costs in quality and access to service, not to mention the long term drag on the economy. Simply put, the general public has decided the costs far outweigh the benefits. Somehow Progressive just can’t bring themselves to accept this.

I love polls I heard one that said 80% of Americans wanted the public option, if its good enough for the people we elect to office, why isn't it good enough for the rest of the country. And how sad is it that a caring sympathetic, Veteran has to lie in a hospital bed paid for by taxes and get his only comic relief by watching news of hispanics killing each other. He didn't even know where all the restrooms in the W.H. were located at that point. Maybe he still doesn't. Then came 9/11, do you blame Bush for that, and 2 wars. Anyways I am not here to defend a RINO.

All I have seen you offer in any post, is as you would say "dillusional" talking points. The only thing your posts prove is that you adore Bill Maher and Keith Olberman.

The thing is Ted, Bush is gone and the only thing anyone can do anything about is the present and the future. Why would this president and this congress want to pass such a socialistic agenda that the majority of the country is opposed to. Are they really that arrogant, thinking they know what is best for us. If that is really their position they are going to get a rude awakening in November. I can't wait.

Anyways, good luck on your Global Warming thesis, tell Al and Janeane Garofalo hi.

one poll says 30 million Americans are without healthcare another says 47 million but Fox news says Less than 5 million. Why such a discrepancy? The United States Military find it unacceptable for the lose of life of 1 American soldier, but the right wing voice of America finds it acceptable that life, liberty, and the persuit of hapiness is denied for these individuals. Ted, all you've managed are a few cheap shots with zero substance, zero. You look puerile, not smart or witty. Here's a problem I have with your Democrat party ideas, they spend money they don't have, lots of it. This year alone, they'll spend $1.4T more than they steal from us, the people. How much of that are you willing to pay back? So here's an idea that may be simple enough for you to get your statist head around: I won't ask you for your money and you don't ask me for mine. Simple huh? Lefties like you love using the federal government as some kind of super school yard bully to go around stealing everyone's lunch money and then doing with it what they (and you) please. Let's allow people to direct their own affairs without government interference or burden beyond that allowed in our Constitution. The Constitution was drafted to be a wall over which government was not to climb. Our current crew of overreaching demagogues has not only scaled the wall, they're trying to tear it down. My doctor and I can take care of my health without any help whatsoever from the federal government. Ted, you are the sheep (or lemming if you prefer, although the whole lemming thing is a myth, but that's beside the point and yet another off your intellectual shortcomings), you are the one who only follows and seeks refuge in the government. This country will begin to heal, and very quickly, once the federal government is forced back into the cage built for it by the U.S. Constitution.

You can call it Global warming, I like the term Climate Change. As the amount of carbon dioxide has increased in the atmosphere 3X, the earths temperature has risen about 3 degree's. If you can remember your basic science in the 6th grade, Warmer air holds more condensation more condensation in the air leads to the formation of more clouds which in fact leads to a trapping of the warm air below it. More clouds in colder climates lead to more snow ie Baltimore and Washington D.C. record snowfalls. more clouds help keep the earth cooler by reflecting sunlight but the loss of sulight reduces the amount of photosynthisis, leading to less transformation of carbon gas into oxygen. These facts need to be studied in science books, not the Bible

@ Mack I love the schoolyard bully analogy, but with out taxes being paid for public schools and if you have 4 kids which if you paid for them to go to school at an average of 20,000 dollars per kid per year, I doubt your kids will have any lunch money to steal. Better get started on that Garden lol

@ Mack You might want to move close to that school also unless you want to build a road with your own money to get the kids there. Thank you for the middle school science lesson. Good luck achieving enlightenment with your Scholastic books. I'll stick with my Bible.

@ Mack The myth may exist in more variations. In most forms it does not appear to claim a conscious @suicide but rather accidental mass death due to various factors. However in popular culture the alleged behavior is usually referred to as "mass suicide" and hence discussed here as "mass suicide myth".

Because of their association with this odd behavior, lemming suicide is a frequently used metaphor in reference to people who go along unquestioningly with popular opinion, with potentially dangerous or fatal consequences

Its a metaphor, I can only imagine why you would consider using sheep as your analogy lol

Ted, sorry, you need to reboot on your Climate Change (what will they call it next week?) babble. Remember, your data, when not being hidden from view, was found to be hopelessly corrupt or made up. This fact has been in some papers and in many honest reporting venues so you may have seen it. The conclusions in your little religion of Gorebal Warming (IPCC and others) are hoakum. Catch up with us in 20 or 50 more years when you have something based in real science and not on a predetermined political agenda of wealth transfer trumpeted by advocates masquerading as scientists.

With the Detroit Office of the FBI raiding three of Toyota's suppliers while the theatrical farce plays out on the Washington stage, we must recognize that the only logical outcome is the forced unionization of all foreign owned auto assembly plants in the United States. When that happens, all acceleration and braking problems will speedily come to a screeching halt. And one more installment on Obama's debt to the UAW will be paid.

Travler

Whichever party starts to standup for the individual American that is the party I will support. If not I will spend every waking moment I can to destroy the party or people who do not support freedom.

THE CREED OF FREEDOM

INTRINSIC NATURE OF RIGHTS

I believe that only individuals have rights, not the collective group; that these rights are intrinsic to each individual, not granted by the state; for if the state has the power to grant them, it also has the power to deny them, and that is incompatible with personal liberty.

I believe that a just state derives its power solely from its citizens. Therefore, the state must never presume to do anything beyond what individual citizens also have the right to do. Otherwise, the state is a power unto itself and becomes the master instead of the servant of society.

SUPREMACY OF THE INDIVIDUAL

I believe that one of the greatest threats to freedom is to allow any group, no matter its numeric superiority, to deny the rights of the minority; and that one of the primary functions of a just state is to protect each individual from the greed and passion of the majority.

FREEDOM OF CHOICE

I believe that desirable social and economic objectives are better achieved by voluntary action than by coercion of law. I believe that social tranquility and brotherhood are better achieved by tolerance, persuasion, and the power of good example than by coercion of law. I believe that those in need are better served by charity, which is the giving of one's own money, than by welfare, which is the giving of other people's money through coercion of law.

EQUALITY UNDER LAW

I believe that all citizens should be equal under law, regardless of their national origin, race, religion, gender, education, economic status, life style, or political opinion. Likewise, no class should be given preferential treatment, regardless of the merit or popularity of its cause. To favor one class over another is not equality under law.

PROPER ROLE OF THE STATE

I believe that the proper role of the state is negative, not positive; defensive, not aggressive. It is to protect, not to provide; for if the state is granted the power to provide for some, it must also be able to take from others, and that always leads to legalized plunder and loss of freedom. If the state can give us everything we want, it also must be powerful enough to take from us everything we have. Therefore, the proper function of the state is to protect the lives, liberty, and property of its citizens, nothing more. That state is best which governs least.

@ Robert in order to have any credibility in your arguement the first thing yopu should do is convey your thoughts to the republican leadership in Washington and as a Group All republican representative should Terminate the insurance plan they use themselves and declare it a socialistic form of big government. Only after they terminate thier socialistic health care and purchase a Health care plan operated by a corporation can they not appear hypocritical of the arguement. How can you yourself allow your republican rep. allow you to pay for his coverage as he denies you yours. my view is not republican or democrat, its just common sense

Dennis Want

A quote I received that fits the mark quite well..

The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president. -- Author Unknown

After all, the liberals in Washington are convinced that Iran is a peace loving democratic republic so she should just go and do it. If she is just holding off because of the cost of airfare, I would be happy to contribute the first dollar. I mean, how much can a one way ticket cost anyway?

@Ted

Thank you for joining our comment rolls today. You have proven the point that all of the conservatives here today have stated and thought: you believe what you are told with absolutely no regard for the facts and/or the truth.

I have a question or two or three for you, Ted. Why should only Republicans drop their health insurance? Why should the Democrats do like wise? And, finally, if the Democratic healthcare plan was so splendid and terrific, why wouldn't Congress as a whole join up and do away with heir health insurance plan? No to mention their retirement plan.

Everyone,

I would like you to point out to Ted that we have conducted this exercise with civility? Something the liberals like Peolsi, Reid, Olberman, Matthews, etc. can't seem to do. This is what the 1st Amendment to the Constitution is all about. The free exchange of ideas. I doubt if any one of us here today will change their opinion of the political situation; but, we were able to communicate with each other on a rational (some more than others) basis.

Ted: "Most of Obama's deficit came in the form of bailing out the failed economic policies of the previous administration."

Here we go again, everything is Bush's fault.

Most of Obama's deficit spending came from Congressional pork unfilled for three or four decades, payback to his political cronies who helped and paid for his election, Goldman Sachs, poorly regulated and watched Wall Street, SEIU, foreign banks, and failed democrat policies (he himself voted for as a senator from Illinois) in re to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae who forced banks with the picketing help of ACORN to lend money to people with bad credit and not enough income to justify buying a home. Mortgage is just another commodity, not a right.

In liberal utopia, we must all sing Kumbaya, live in poverty, no possibility of personal growth, only the elites can live the good life. No thanks, Ted, we don't want that.

Ted, where did you get your information on expenditures per child in education of $20,000/year? That amount is totally incorrect. There is no state in the union that spends that much per child. Perhaps a private school or a magnet school with room and board spends $15,000/year but public schools spend much less per child per year.

Once again, you prove that liberals make up data and statistics to suit their ideology.

Ted did make one small error in an early post. The national debt at the end of 2000 (end of Clinton era) was $5.6 Trillion, not $4. Yes, it did double under GWB (a bad thing), but it also went up about 50% under Clinton (despite the "balanced" budgets, and has gone up roughly 25% in the last year. Where does it stop, when China "calls" it's notes?

Ted, the real cause of the mess that Bush felt he had to fix (I disagreed with him vehemently) was the result of Leftwing pressure on lenders to loan money to those who didn't qualify, or face the threat of being sued for "redlining". The financial institutions were thus corrupted by the feds. Read Thomas Sowell's book "The Housing Boom and Bust". Both sides were complicit in this to some extent, but participants on the right I consider to be fellow travelers of the Left.

RE: Blues Brothers quote..."IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!"... If you haven't read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, you should. If you have, you should be terrified! Ms. Rand's book, written in 1957, is a prophetic view into our current socio-political environment.

The "hope", as offered by the current Administration, is one born of desperate desire for a future change, the ultimate result being uncertain. The hope, as offered by our God, is one of confidence in the One who can, and does, deliver! We must choose, wisely, in whom will place our trust! We have a Glorious National Anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner".

We, also, in this Christian Nation, have a "National Hymn":

"God of Our Fathers"

God of our Fathers, whose Almighty hand

Leads forth in beauty all the starry band

Of shining worlds, in splendor thru the skies

Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise.

Thy love Divine, hath led us in the past,

In this FREE land, by Thee our lot is cast:

Be Thou our ruler, guardian, guide and stay

Thy Word our LAW, Thy paths our chosen way.

From war's alarms, from DEADLY PESTILENCE,

Be Thy strong arm, our ever sure DEFENSE

Thy TRUE religion in our heart increase,

Thy bounteous goodness nourish US in peace.

Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way,

Lead US from night to never ending day;

Fill all our lives with love and grace Divine,

AND GLORY, LAUD, AND PRAISE BE EVER THINE.

And ALL the People said, AMEN

SING this TODAY. Our Fathers said, "NO KING, BUT JESUS

For God & Country

Revisionist history has robbed the United States of its character and true legacy. David Limbaugh (in the Upright section) captures one area of this distortion.

Who didn't think from their American “history" class that Abraham Lincoln and FDR were the greatest Presidents ever? And yet, that is largely due to incomplete reporting of their views and actions in respect to the Constitution and Founder's views. Even our Founder's were not perfect (Jefferson not freeing his slaves despite his denunciation of slavery) and yet they were, like us, products of a culture--a culture built on incomplete truths and distortion meant to advance and sustain an evil idea (slavery in that case--socialism in ours).

Thank you Patriot Post for setting the record straight! May the individual searchers of truth find your words to always be just that--TRUE.

CO2 is plant food. Even if there are higher levels, that does not prove it is detrimental. Just means more plant food. It doesn't even make sense as a cause of global warming let alone the facts that refute it.

Democrats like to point out George Bush's deficits, but then try (and are succeeding by factors of 3)to beat them. Obama spent an entire campaign vilifying Bush's policy on Afghanistan and Iraq yet is following suit. And best of all, uses Bush trying a terrorist in civilian court as justification for disbanding military tribunes for terrorists.

Obama IS the embodiment of the entitlement mentality and its a great question as to whether we can overcome that mentality.

Remember this the next time you see a "Newsweek" magazine:

Supreme arrogance: "In trying to explain our political paralysis, analysts cite President Obama's tactical missteps, the obstinacy of congressional Republicans, rising partisanship in Washington, and the Senate filibuster, which has devolved into a super-majority threshold for important legislation. These are large factors to be sure, but that list neglects what may be the biggest culprit of all: the childishness, ignorance, and growing incoherence of the public at large." --Newsweek's Jacob Weisberg, revealing what the elitists think of the American people

REF: Patriot Post "Chronicle" dated February 24, 2010.

Try not to puke on the rack as you, hopefully, walk on by. Flood this piece of garbage periodical with emails in protest of Weisbergs's hideous remarks and let them know you will never buy their product, again. (that is .... unless they break with the story first, that this administration and the current Congressional leadership suddenly have disappeared into the sunset of political hasbeenocracy.

I got this in today's email. Demonstrates what a background in math can accomplish!

Clunker Math

Think of it this way:

A clunker that travels 12,000 miles a year at 15 mpg uses 800 gallons of gas a year.

A vehicle that travels 12,000 miles a year at 25 mpg uses 480 gallons a year.

So, the average Cash for Clunkers transaction will reduce US gasoline

consumption by 320 gallons per year.

They claim 700,000 vehicles so that's 224 million gallons saved per year.

That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.

5 million barrels is about 5 hours worth of US consumption.

More importantly, 5 million barrels of oil at $70 per barrel costs about $350 million dollars

So, the government paid $3 billion of our tax dollars to save $350 million.

We spent $8.57 for every dollar saved.

I'm pretty sure they will do a great job with health care, though.
