Liberty
Find this and more at PatriotShop.US"Gun owners might not feel besieged right now, but they should be very concerned. [Recently] the Obama administration announced its support for the UN Small Arms Treaty. This treaty poses real risks for freedom and safety in the United States as well as the rest of the world. According to the U.N., guns used in armed conflicts cause 300,000 deaths worldwide every year. Their proposed solution is a simple one. Keep rebels from getting guns by requiring that countries 'prevent, combat and eradicate' what those countries define as 'the illicit trade in small arms.' The UN's solution isn't too surprising when one looks at the long list of notorious totalitarian regimes, such as Syria, Cuba, Rwanda, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, and Sierra Leone, which support these 'reforms.' But not all insurgencies are 'bad.' To ban providing guns to rebels in totalitarian countries is like arguing that there is never anything such as a just war. ... Political scientist Rudy Rummel estimates that 262 million people were murdered by their own government during the last century -- that is 2.6 million per year. This includes genocide, the murder of people for political reasons, and mass murder. Even if all 300,000 deaths from armed conflicts can be blamed on the small arms trade, an obviously false claim, people have much more to worry about from their governments. ... The Small Arms Treaty is just a back door way for the Obama administration trying to force through gun control regulations. With the huge standing ovation that House and Senate Democrats recently gave Mexican President Calderon for his advocacy of a new so-called 'Assault Weapons Ban,' Americans who care about self-defense have been put on notice." --economist John Lott
Government
"Today, as it has been for a century, American politics is an argument between two Princetonians -- James Madison, class of 1771, and Woodrow Wilson, class of 1879. Madison was the most profound thinker among the Founders. Wilson, avatar of 'progressivism,' was the first president critical of the nation's founding. Barack Obama's Wilsonian agenda reflects its namesake's rejection of limited government. ... Today, government finds the limitless power of dispensing not in Madison's Constitution of limited government but in Wilson's theory that the Constitution actually frees government from limitations. The liberating -- for government -- idea is that the Constitution is a 'living,' evolving document. Wilson's Constitution is an emancipation proclamation for government, empowering it to regulate all human activities in order to treat all human desires as needs and hence as rights. ... Needs breed rights to have the needs addressed, to the point that Lyndon Johnson, an FDR protege, promised that government would provide Americans with 'purpose' and 'meaning.' ... Lacking a limiting principle, progressivism cannot say how big the welfare state should be but must always say that it should be bigger than it currently is. Furthermore, by making a welfare state a fountain of rights requisite for democracy, progressives in effect declare that democratic deliberation about the legitimacy of the welfare state is illegitimate. ... Wilsonian government, meaning (in Wilson's words) government with 'unstinted power,' is hostile to Madison's Constitution which, Madison said, obliges government 'to control itself.'" --columnist George Will

"The American dream is not that every man must be level with every other man. The American dream is that every man must be free to become whatever God intends he should become." --Ronald Reagan
Re: The Left
"President Obama and congressional Democrats say the DISCLOSE Act, which is expected to come up for a vote soon, is aimed at ensuring transparency and preventing corruption in the wake of Citizens United v. FEC, the January decision in which the Supreme Court lifted restrictions on political speech by corporations and unions. But the bill's onerous, lopsided requirements suggest its supporters are more interested in silencing their critics. ... The anxiety and uncertainty created by the new rules would be compounded by the fact that they would take effect 30 days after the law is enacted, before the FEC would have time to issue regulations clarifying them. Opposing an amendment that would have postponed the effective date until Jan. 1, Rep. Michael Capuano, D-Mass., said he wants people to worry about a fine or prison sentence when they dare to speak ill of him. 'I hope it chills out all -- not one side, all sides!' said Capuano. 'I have no problem whatsoever keeping everybody out. If I could keep all outside entities out, I would.' Similarly, Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., upon unveiling the bill, said 'the deterrent effect should not be underestimated.' For those who view nonpoliticians as meddlesome 'outside entities' and criticism of incumbents as a crime to be deterred, the chilling effect of campaign finance laws is a feature, not a bug." --columnist Jacob Sullum
Faith & Family
"Again and again, Americans find themselves at war with each other over public schooling. Yet furious conflict over religion in this country is almost unheard-of. ... So why does the endless variety of religious life in the United States lead to so little strife, while the strife over public schooling never seems to end? The answer is no mystery. America is a land of religious freedom, in which people decide for themselves what to believe and how to worship. No religion is funded by government. No church or synagogue has a state-supported monopoly. Elected officials have no say in the doctrines of any faith or the content of any religious service. Religion flourishes in America because church and state are separate. And it flourishes so peacefully because no one is forced to support anyone else's faith, or to attend a church he isn't happy with, or to bring up children according to the religious views of whichever faction has the most votes. Religion is peaceful because it is government-free. Liberate the schools, and they too would be at peace. Taxpayer-funded, one-curriculum-fits-all schooling makes conflict inevitable. There would be far less animosity if parents were as free to choose how and where their children learn as they are to choose how and where they worship. Separation of church and state has made America an exemplar of religious pluralism and tolerance. Imagine what separation of school and state could do for education." --columnist Jeff Jacoby

"There is a Time to Fight was a powerful essay, a call to arms. In the sense that ballots carry more weight than bullets. Alas, the Republicans have a history of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It is easy to forget that Reagan was not a 'mainstream' Republican, but a true maverick, unlike a Senator from Arizona. RR was not the choice of the Establishment Republicans, but of the people. He won because of the message he presented, which we do not hear often (except for this web site). Mark Alexander is right, it will be a difficult time, but a necessary one. The longer we wait, the harder to rebuild that 'shining city on the hill.'" --Tim

"When Israeli soldiers defend themselves from violent attacks by these 'peace activists,' they are always acting 'disproportionately' and thus deserving of denunciation, censure and ostracism from the 'world community.' One wishes the haters of Israel would direct some of that zeal to the real enemies of freedom and religious pluralism: radical Islam. ... President Obama said it is important to learn 'all the facts and circumstances' behind the incident before reaching conclusions. The facts and circumstances are already known. It is a fact that those trying to break Israel's blockade of Gaza hate and wish to destroy Israel. And any circumstance will be created or used to achieve that objective. Again, we've seen this scenario before and surely will see it again, and again, and again, unless and until the world wakes up to the clash of civilizations too many want to ignore, hoping it will go away. It won't until one civilization crushes the other." --columnist Cal Thomas
For the Record
"Question: If Israel is always hell-bent on murder, massacres and genocide, why is it so bad at it? If its battle plan called for a slaughter, why kill 'only' nine people? Why not sink all of the boats? Meanwhile, is it really the case that Hamas is objectively 'good' at public relations? Or Hezbollah? Or Iran? Really? I just don't see it. To me, these PR operations are less 'Wag the Dog' and more Baghdad Bob (the Monty Pythonesque spokesman for Saddam Hussein's regime). But instead of everyone laughing at the lies and idiocy, millions of people nod their heads in agreement. North Korea recently sank a South Korean ship. The international reaction has been muted and sober. Turkey -- the Palestinians' new champion -- has been treating Kurdish nationalists harshly for generations; no one cares. The Russians crush Chechens, the Chinese trample Uighurs. Real genocides unfold regularly in Africa. Iran is pursuing a nuclear bomb. Hamas is openly dedicated to the destruction of Israel. So is Iran. And yet the only villain as far as much of the world is concerned is Israel. Always Israel. But none of these facts matter. Indeed, it's tiring even to recount them in an environment where big lies matters more than obvious truths, where self-defense is 'aggression,' where restraint is 'genocide,' and where the heirs of Gandhi wield steel pipes." --National Review editor Jonah Goldberg

The Last Word
"For reasons I am not clear on, the White House press corps' own personal Delta Dawn, Helen Thomas, decided she needed to opine on the current state of affairs in the Middle East. Here's the transcript of Helen Thomas' truly frightening position: Q: 'Any comments on Israel?' Helen Thomas: 'Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine. [She laughs] Remember, these people [the Palestinians] are occupied and it's their land and it's not Germany and it's not Poland.' Q: 'So, where should they go? 'HT: 'They should go home.' Q: 'Where's home?' HT: 'Poland. Germany. And America and everywhere else.' Ok, let me stipulate that I am not an expert on Helen Thomas. Nevertheless, I am quite confident in stating that she is not of Native American heritage. Inasmuch as she was born in Kentucky in 1920, we must assume that she has, over the last 90 years, bought into the theory that if you have taken over a country for enough time, you sort of own it. But, under the Helen Thomas Theory of Primacy, all 310,000,000 people who falsely claim to be 'Americans' should immediately leave what we now call the United States and return to the country or region of the world from whence our ancestors came. Helen Thomas is a joke. The fact that she is a left-wing joke protects her from her White House briefing room colleagues. If she were a RIGHT-wing joke, there would have been demands that the Hearst Corporation immediately fire her for what amounts to hate speech, if not astonishing stupidity. Either she is too old to know what she's saying, or she knows what she's saying. Either way, her chair in the White House briefing room should be declared vacant." --political analyst Rich Galen

Either Obama is a very ignorant person or he has an agenda of doing whatever he can to distroy the American way of life. I don't think he is ignorant so what is he up to? In fact I think he is a very smart person and is doing exactlly what he sat out to do. I would like someone to show me what has he done good for the country since he's been in office. Don't bother searching, you won't find anything. Obama is a very dangerous person and it seems everyday he comes with something else that will bring our country down. When will people in this country wake up?

I understand John Lott’s concern over the UN small arms treaty, but he needs to remember that there is only one way to amend the Constitution of the United States, and it isn’t through the signature of the President and the ratification by the Senate. Until the Constitution is amended they’d best watch how they reach for my guns.

Mr. Goldberg, let's expand the list:
fiscal restraint = $787 Billion stimulus
protect liberty = gun control/ 2nd Amendment repeal efforts
expand Democracy = Statehood for Puerto Rico
reduce unemployment = hire census workers
man made global warming = hubris, tax-and-cap
Universal Healthcare = bankrupt the Western nations with socialist policies
The underlying theme is money for "friends" and taxes for "enemies". It is all about jealousy and greed and power.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

I don't want too get to biblical but just where the hell does she think the Jewish people lived in the time of Christ and before, in Germany and Poland? They didn't even exist except as a land mass in what is NOW northern Europe. Much to their distress the original Jews were just another group of Arabs. The Muslims believe they've got their religion mixed up hence the intense dislike.

The problem with Helen Thomas is that she is not speaking with any knowledge or understanding of Israel as a Nation. She has no concept of the land that God gave Israel. It covers a lot more territory that the small area which now exists as the Nation of Israel. Of course, in a Nation that is turning their back on God, I guess it is understandable that a lot of Americans don't know and don't care about God's promises to the nation of Israel.
You are right, she does need to retire and read some books on American Heritage, especially on how this Great Country was formed, and how it has grown because it is and always has been a melting pot. Senility may be setting in!!

Thank God for message that the Patriot Post makes available to concerned Americans. Two items in the Monday, June 7 brief, caught my attention. One was highlighting the UN Small Arms Treaty and the other spoke of the Disclose Act that is before Congress. I wish that EVERY American would make themselves aware of these, and other attempts at denying liberty to us, as Americans. Ultimately, if undetered, these kinds of initiatives will bring the chains of tyranny upon us all. As for those who don't know and don't care, Sam Adams said it best, "May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."
Keep up the good work Patriot Post!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Jews controlled the disputed region from pre-history until about 586BC. At which point, the Kingdom of Judah falls to Nebuchadnezzer, King of Babylon. He captures and destroys Jerusalem (including the First Temple) and exiles the Jews to Babylon.

While I do not want to see anymore encroachment on the 2nd amendment, unlike the liberal/progressives we unfortunately have to be accurate in what we say. Please have a look and make the appropriate resolution.

What Helen Thomas should have known, given her extreme advanced age is that the ancient lands of Judea and Samaria were JEWISH lands thousands of years before the so called 'Palestinian People' came into being by British mandate. The moslem people of the region were not forced from Israel after the land came under Jewish authority, by the Israeli government, but rather were forced to leave by the moslem authorities of the region. If the moslem peoples had stayed in Jewish controlled land, they would be traitors to Islam and subject to death. Moslem people leaving the nation of Israel were not allowed to become citizens of the countries they went to, but were forced into 'refugee' camps.
Sephardic people, both Jewish and Moslem, have lived in the region for years. They are not the sole racial identity there. Being Jewish or Islamic, is not a racial thing. It is a religious thing. Just as there are blond haired Jews, there are red headed Moslems. There are Moslems from the steppes of Russia and Jews from Europe.
The land the so called 'Palestinian People' are demanding was stolen from Jews during the Diaspora. The Jewish religion just returned to their land. Has no one ever wondered why the 'Dome of the Rock' is built on top of the Temple Mount?? It was a way to demean the Jewish people and deny them their Holiest of places.
On a side note, one might want to query the situation of Lebanon. Once predominantly Marronite Christian (yes, that includes Sephardic Christians), it was brutally raped and it's people murdered to make room for the so called 'Palestiniaan People' could have a larger base to operate from and also to enlarge the areas controlled by Islamic fundamentalists.
Research, research, research. History is on the side of the Jewish people and much later the Christians and much, much later, the moslems.

Re "For the Record" by Jonah Goldberg
The reason Israel is always the "bad guy" is pretty simple. Israel has always been "God's Chosen People" and God said in Genesis that the seed of the woman would bruise the head of Satan. Therefore, Satan hates Israel for it is from them his destruction comes (it already has but has not changed the hate). Since Islam wants destruction of everyone who is not Islamic they are doing Satans wishes by wanting to destroy all Christians and all Jews. Hence the World hates Israel while They worship Satan.

"YOU"...WILL NOT take our guns away from us. Not only is it our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms (settled Constitutional law), it is also our GOD GIVEN right to self-defense. Do you think we'll shrink from this threat? Do you think a US Military Veteran will denounce his (her) oath to the Constitution simply to placate the degenerate marxists? Do you think a recipient of the Naval Expeditionary Medal (look it up) will abandon his (her) country, right at the moment when we are needed the most? The push to take back the Congress is great and going well. I think it is just to little to slow. The damage is to great. We have leaders stepping up and are running for a position in congress. What we do not have is any leadership voicing any opposition to the stupidity of this administration. We need the challenge to start. The nation is ready to support a leader and there is no leader. Stop being nice. Yell, shout, scream, at this bunch and challenge them to justify what they are doing. Out shout them every day ware them down.

We are at a tipping point - either "The Speech" (Ronald Reagan, 1964) meant nothing as we were warned what our fate would be in the future (now the present) or else it is time to put aside the political correctness, the fear of "hurting someone's feelings", time for Conservatives to stand up, be counted, and be not afraid to speak the truth; time to stand up for what James Madison, James Monroe, Thomas Jefferson and others believed and founded this nation upon those beliefs. It is time to make our stand, and what could very well be our final stand less we take back the House and Senate in 2010, and the House in 2012. Or else the Revolutionary War, The War Between the States, World War II and the current war against Islamic fascism were and are for nothing. I am Riverside Rebel, and I AM a Patriot and US Navy Submarine Veteran.

Thank you Patriot post!! Nowhere else have I seen a warning about the planned UN small arms treaty assault on the most important of all American freedoms. Without guns we could not speak out.
This is a serious assault on American freedom of speech. Of course, the mainstream media has already abdicate dthier responsibility, nowhere more vividly than in coverage of the "freedom flotilla"... Why is it that just Today I am hearing the radio conversation s of the Israeli captains advising of the blockage and warnings to stop. In reply - an hostile voice responds - "Shut up Jews - go back to Auschwitz" and then "US remember 911". Why is this not all over the mainstream media??
I suggest that those fearing religious expression should look beyond the "establishment clause" on the other side of the comma and read the "free exercise thereof clause". But then that might mean they have to acknowledge the clear Judeo-Christian values ingrained in our founding principles.
With regard to schools and the proposed new bailout for union teachers. I have a simple idea to secure funding from an existing source. Look in front of the school at the BUSES lined up, that are wasting fuel, and even polluting the air with CO2. Why??
To drive kids across the county to achieve racial equality in the school yard. Are we not there yet??
Do we really still have to do that. I am willing to bet that if given a choice -- everyone (except the union bus drivers and racial activists) would prefer to send their kids to the neighborhood school where the parents could actually be more easily involved. Seperate,,,maybe,, depending on the neighborhood,,, but equal, absolutely. This is so simple -- but not a word from those planning to make the system even more complex... This should be a topic of conversation. It is Time to Stop Busing Kids.
Oh yeah, Stop the damn oil leak. Quite trying to salvage oil - and plug the hole. If they insist on siphoning oil, then drop a huge plastic condom with a weighted ring at the bottom, bolt it with anchor bolts to the sea floor if neccesary. Attach a hose to the other end of it and watch the oil rise. Protect the shorelines with hay/natural fibers to absorb floating patches. Build the sand berms, do it all,, now... or Barrak is gonna take your name and come kick your a**.

There will never be Life, Liberty, and the Persuit of Happiness until the Electorial College is, or its consept is done away with. We cannot have a government that is picked by incompetants and susceed with a logical future.

My wife asked me what I thought of the Israeli blockade incident. I told her that anything Israel does is OK with me because they're the only nation on Earth with enough chutzpah to directly confront terrorists without worrying what the rest of the world thinks. I have watched world events for quite some time and can cite no incident of unprovoked Israeli attack. It has always been a retaliatory response to terrorist aggression albeit in terms that terrorists understand.

Ref Jonah Goldberg's commentary of 6/7: He left out that we must also blame Ronald Reagan, George H.W. & his son. Obviously, according to the current political mentality, these guys were also anti-Semites.

Bob, your comment on the Electoral College, the Founders were wise in this concept, actually, if the Electoral College would have asked the question on the "PAPERS"( all of this intrigue on the "natural born" question would have been settled) before the State certified the Election. The question would have been "answered" or the certification of the election would have been held. I believe we had a discussion about this in another post.
I might suggest a book to you, "The Importance of the Electoral College" by Dr. George Grant. It is very thorough and enlightening as to the great wisdom our Beloved Founders had and their "never ending" checks and balances, because they knew the "heart of man."
Has the Electoral College every used this Check? NO, because we never had to deal with a problem like this, where someone would "deliberately" come to power, who was not qualified under the Constitution, and then boldly refuse to settle the issue with documentation that should be Public information because of the Office in question.
Much that is going on in Washington today, is "unprecedented", we certainly want to hold fast to the confident of our Beloved Constitution. The Founders feared God and loved their people.

Regarding the Helen Thomas position, everyone seems to have overlooked the obvious. When Moses led the Israelites from Egypt, they were promised a land of milk and honey across the Jordan. Guess what? That's the land where Israel now exists. That was some thousands of years B.C. It was later events that caused occupation of that land by nations other than Israel. In 1948, following WWII, allies decided to give the land back to Israel and Jews have been defending it against attempts to run them out ever since. The idea that Jews are occupying Palestinian land is ludicrous. Helen Thomas is either so ignorant that she hasn't a clue about history, or so liberal and biased against the Jews that she is willing to lie about history to support her viewpoint. Good riddance!

Believe it or not, I actually know someone who went on a rant today about Free Speech and how Helen Thomas should have been able to say whatever she wanted because it's "free speech." What really got me, though, was that she said, "How come conservatives are allowed to say whatever they want to?" She used Ann Coulter as an example. If I was interested in starting an argument I would have asked her what planet she's been living on lately. Of course this person also completely believes that Israel was in the wrong (even after I quoted The Patriot about what happened) and told me what "really" happened, which I'm sure she got from the MSM. I'm not sure what boggles my mind more: that she actually thinks conservatives can say whatever they want and don't get any crap for it, or that she thinks Helen Thomas is a "great" human being.

Bob - if you want to abolish the Electorial College consider what happend when the 17th amendment was passed. It in effect changed us from a Constitutional Republic to a democracy. In a democracy 51% of the people can vote to kill the remaining 49% and it is all democratically done. Remember Adolph was democratically elected. What should be done is repealing the 25th amendment so we don't have any more appointed Presidents, one was too much. Also the 26th amendment should be repealed. Can anyone explain this to me? An 18 year old is mature enough to vote, but not mature enough to buy a beer. Were the various state legislators standing on their heads when the ratified it?

Quote from Cal Thomas excerpt above...." President Obama said it is important to learn 'all the facts and circumstances' behind the incident before reaching conclusions." .....Yeah, Like OBAMA's decisive leadership conclusions about the Henry Louis Gates,Jr arrest by a conscientious policeman leading to the Rose Garden Beer Summit, OR OBAMA's decisive leadership conclusions about OBAMA Administrations UNread AZ Immigration Law modeled on the UNenforced & UNread US Immigration Law.

You gave a real and truthful characterization of Helen Thomas, as well as most of the main stream, liberal, media! They DO NOT report the news, they report their personal opinions and agendas!

As the old saying goes, "they can have my gun, when they can pry my cold dead fingers from it."
I know there would be many cold, dead fingers to pry on both sides, but before that could even happen, an armed revolution would remove by force any government who attempts to erase our 2nd Amendment Rights, and our rights to protection against government tyranny and oppression.
Go for it, please, “make my day!”

Good Morning,

Yo, Timmons, MD. CO2 is not a "pollutant". Without CO2 nothing would grow on this planet. Look up photosynthesis.
As to the GORES, who cares?
As to HT, who cares? She's gone. Good Riddance.
As to our country, you better care because it's being taken away from you piece by piece. All this other drivel is a distraction.

Yo Buzz! You are absolutely correct Sir... My mention of the Buses spewing CO2 is simply to get the attention of the greens...and stop all that expense of dragging our kids all over town under the pretense of ensuring racial "equal opportunity".. Like you I am amused that CO2 is suddenly some poisonous chemical that must be collected, concentrated and injected into the earth's crust in order to save the planet.... What are those guys smoking??? Amazing to me that the jogging environmentalist is huffing and puffing out CO2 like a SUV and is not at all concerned...( not that he needs to Be!)
My only interest in the Gore's is seeing Al held accountable for his attempted fraud in the Global Warming carbon credit scam. Put him in the same jail with Barney Frank and Chris Dodd.
We have one chance to save the country, before it starts looking like a 1940's wartime newsreel. Remember, even a so called "conservative" Democrat is a Democrat first and conservative only if they let him vote that way...
If they pass Cap and Tax and allow the "tax Cuts' to expire -- Jimmy Carter's misery index will look like the "good times".

All politicians say stupid things, and Helen Thomas is no exception. To criticize a state - ANY state - EVERY state - is the civic duty of every responsible individual.
It is not "antisemitic" to criticize Israel. By declaring political statehood they relinquished the immunity from public criticism we commonly extend as a courtesy to ethnic and religious groups, rightly or wrongly.
EVERY state is a disposable human creation and its justification to exist rests on the way it serves the well being of all persons living under its jurisdiction. The "right to exist" of a state is NOT inherent but is assigned to it - revocably - by those it governs - ALL of them, regardless of race, creed or national origin.
One test of liberty in any state is to ask: Can every person living within its boundaries lawfully keep and bear arms? Any Israel resident denied arms is not a free citizen but a subject, a perpetual servant, the property of a master.

Regarding the possible confiscation of citizens' firearms by the world socialist desire for the abolition of the Second Amendment. If that travesty ever happens the last guns you will see are those aimed at you by the firing squad.

Ditto to Rod. I believe that Obama is intentionally destroying this country and everything it stands for. I don't believe he is stupid. If the November elections don't bring a big change, I'm not sure we will ever be able to get our country back.

How many remember the "Civil Rights Movement" of the 50's and 60's? Well I think the people of this country would have a 'GUN RIGHTS MOVEMENT" if our government tried to take away our gun rights. In a way it has already started, we as citizens have to protect/fight for what our founding fathers gave us
each and every day.
