"[W]hen all government, domestic and foreign, in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the center of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another." --Thomas Jefferson
The Demo-gogues
Eighteen months of shredding the ConstitutionWhat he said: "When I look back on what we've accomplished in the last 18 months -- preventing the country sinking into a great depression, stabilizing the financial markets, saving the U.S. auto industry, oh, and, by the way, passing health care -- I'd say that's a pretty good track record. But until the unemployment rate is down and the economy is where it needs to be, I'm not going to be satisfied." --Barack Obama
What he meant: "When I look back on what we've accomplished in the last 18 months -- scaring voters about the country sinking into a great depression, regulating the financial markets into submission, taking over the U.S. auto industry, oh, and, by the way, ramming health care down your throats -- I'd say that's a pretty good track record. But until the unemployment rate in the public sector is down and the economy is where it needs to be -- utterly dependent on government -- I'm not going to be satisfied."
CLass warfare and lies: "I don't see any reason why we should renew a tax cut that only gives a tax cut to the wealthiest people in America, increases the deficit and doesn't create jobs. That doesn't make any sense." --House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)
Consummate Demo-gogue: "I understand the frustration of people in Arizona, but what we can't do is demagogue the issue, and what we can't do is allow a patchwork of 50 different states, or cities or localities, where anybody who wants to make a name for themselves suddenly says, 'I'm going to be anti-immigrant, and I'm going try to see if I can solve the problem ourself.' This is a national problem." --Barack Obama
A little "Yoda" speak: "Drain the swamp we did, because this was a terrible place." --Nancy Pelosi (D-Dagobah), who suggests we ignore the corruption of Reps. Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters
The fundamental issue: "I think that there are very few constitutional limits that would prevent the federal government from rules that could affect your private life. ... The federal government, uh, yes, can do most anything in this country." --Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA), who will no doubt be re-elected by the lemmings in his district
Editorial Exegesis
"The federal government, according to Democratic Rep. Pete Stark, can do anything it wants. If there are indeed no checks on the state's power, as the congressman claims, then the state is a tyrant. Stark, who represents San Francisco's East Bay area, let the left's secret slip when he told constituents at a July 24 town-hall meeting in Hayward that he believes 'there are very few constitutional limits that would prevent the federal government from rules that could affect your private life.' His response came in reply to a constituent's thoughtful question about the federal health care overhaul. ... 'How can this law be constitutional?' she asked. 'But more importantly than that, if they can do this, what can't they?' Stark, as arrogant, dismissive and evasive as always to the people he's 'served' for 37 years, said that 'the federal government can do most anything in this country.' His opinion on government power is shocking enough. But even more surprising is that the congressman would be so forthcoming in a public forum. The political left, which is grounded in progressive ideology, has long worked to hide from the public its agenda to use the government to impose its will on the country. ... In their core, progressives believe they have the answers to society's problems and are eager to force them on the state's subjects, even if doing so violates the natural rights that the Constitution guaranteed would be protected by a republican style of government. Stark is right: Washington has the power to do whatever it wants. But it doesn't have the moral authority, either in constitutional law or in the realm of human decency. When it crosses into the dark region where it does most anything it wishes, it's become a tyrant." --Investor's Business Daily

"How one answers these questions depends, fundamentally, on one's belief about the role of government and its relationship to and impact on the economy. Is government the greatest engine of economic growth and prosperity or should the fate of America's financial future be determined by the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit of the American people?" --columnist Ken Connor
"Democrats are preparing to let the George W. Bush tax cuts on high earners -- on investors and job creators -- expire. They want more revenue to feed the government beast. Most voters take a different view. They want to put government on a diet. To slim it down, make it more lithe and limber, and stop it from choking off the recovery of the private sector economy." --political analyst Michael Barone
"These are truly extraordinary times. With every passing day, we are witnessing what can only be called the People versus the Government. The distrust and disdain Americans of all political persuasions feel toward the White House and Congress is extraordinary." --columnist Alan Caruba
"Both recent and future budget deficits have been blamed largely on the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, and to a lesser extent on the war on terrorism, but the data contradict these myths. In reality, spending is almost exclusively the problem." --Heritage Foundation's Brian Riedl
"Our liberties depend on our preserving the integrity of the Constitution and the mechanisms it established to deter tyranny. To the extent we dismantle those safeguards, we imperil our freedoms. When the political class is filled with those who are ideologically committed to certain political ends irrespective of the legality of the means used to achieve them, our system of checks and balances breaks down, which is one reason John Adams warned, 'Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.' November's elections cannot come fast enough." --columnist David Limbaugh
"At this moment, two of their [Democrat] leaders from a supposedly disadvantaged minority are about to be tried for ethical transgressions (read: thievery) even Congress couldn't sweep under the rug. Never mind that these transgressions mostly exploit the very minority these people purport to represent. It's part of the game. Convince minorities they should act like victims. Extort guilt payments from the majority and keep the change. Meanwhile, nothing improves for the minority because it would interrupt the system." --columnist Roger Simon
"When some black Obama voters exclaim that they wish to have a dialogue with whites, it means they want an open opportunity to accuse their fellow Americans of being prejudiced." --columnist Marie Jon
Coast Guard Birthday
On Aug. 4, 1790, the U.S. Coast Guard was created by Congress, which authorized Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton to build a small fleet of 10 cutters to protect the coast. The Coast Guard continues to serve a critical role under the Department of Homeland Security and we at The Patriot Post offer our thanks for a job well done. Happy Birthday and Semper Paratus! Please visit the Patriot Shop for a great selection of items bearing the Coast Guard's insignia.

Pay no attention to your tax rates: "The idea that the average American is overtaxed is a nice piece of populist pandering. In fact, federal taxes as a percentage of the economy are at their lowest level since the Truman administration. ... The simple facts are these: All of the Bush tax cuts were unaffordable. They were an irresponsible act of hubris enacted during an economic boom." --CNN host Fareed Zakaria, also an editor at Newsweek, which just sold for $1 -- far more than it was worth

Crying racism: "Now, the investigation of such powerful people, like Rangel and Maxine Waters, have a lot of people talking. The reaction in Washington seems to be centered on whether the two House members are guilty or not, but back home, in their respective districts, some of their constituents aren't so sure justice is being done, and some are openly questioning why two high profile African-American House members are coming under such tough scrutiny. Do you think that black members are being targeted unfairly by the Ethics Committee?" --CNN's Don Lemon to Al Sharpton (It MUST be race; it can't be that these two people are crooks.)

In September 1999 (see NY Times article: http://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/30/business/fannie-mae-eases-credit-to-aid-mortgage-lending.html?pagewanted=1) the actions of Bill Clinton and Barney Frank to create sub-prime loans is discussed. The article shows how they lowered the home mortgage qualification requirements of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to allow people who previously could not qualify for home loans to buy houses. These are the sub-prime loans that sank the entire financial market world wide. The NY Times article warns that a melt down of the financial market could happen as a result of the actions of Clinton and Frank and it did happen. And continues to this day.
The actions of Clinton and Frank hurt their constituents and this truth should be told.

Because of people like Stark, Obama, and Pelosi, et al. (Communists, Idiots or both) the federal government is ignorant as to how close this country is to revolution.
So, so much chatter out there with discontent, mistrust, and fear about the overbearing, unconstitutional, and oppressive fed. I believe the straw that broke the camel’s back was government mandated health insurance and fines for people who do not buy in. People, who I never thought I would hear such anti-government messages come out of, are sounding off louder and stronger. Many people and business owners alike that I know are buying guns, stocking up on ammunition, survival gear, and the like.
More and more, even everyday passing people I meet are calling Obama and Pelosi Communists. And none and I mean none, like the word communist. And neither do I!
They real do not know how close that fuse is to the powder-keg.

BHO says, "[W]hat we can't do is allow a patchwork of 50 different states, or cities or localities...to see if [they] can solve the problem [themselves]."
Well, if the Federal government would just do their job and enforce the ONE law on the books, then the 50 different states wouldn't need to create their own versions of that law to get the job done.

"When some black Obama voters exclaim that they wish to have a dialogue with whites, it means they want an open opportunity to accuse their fellow Americans of being prejudiced." --columnist Marie Jon
She's onto something. More accurately, it means that those specific black Americans who want to open the dialog want to explain their feelings about particular issues to white Americans because they are convinced that we don't understand. Make no mistake, the "dialog" would be uni-directional.
In reality, there is a gap in understanding, and mostly on the part of those specific black Americans who wish to have the dialog. It is promoted by Jesse Jackson et al who profit from the very vibrant existence of the notion that racism is alive well and ugly in America. It is in their best interests to keep this perception alive, which is why everything must be twisted into a means to keep the fire burning.
Enough already.

Regarding Pete Stark: All you have to do is look at who elects him: San Francisco's East Bay area. These are the same lemmings who keep electing Nancy Pelosi. It doesn't matter who in the rest of the country sees the video of his outrageous behavior in the town hall meeting, or her ridiculous comments on television news conferences. No one in that area of the country is going to vote them out, because they are of the same ilk.

I applaud your recognition of the birthday of the United States Coast Guard in your August 4th "Chronical."
I am proud to have served as part of the Coast Guard's Aviation Group from 1968 to 1972, and know that there are still many fine, hard-working, dedicated people who serve their country as part of the United States Coast Guard.
However, I must make mention of something that is incorrect on one of the items in the Patriot Shop. The Department of Defense coin incorrectly shows the Coast Guard with the other four branches of the service. While this is correct, the Coast Guard is actually a part of the Department of Homeland Security and not the Department of Defense.
Please keep up your outstanding work with the "Patriot," and Semper Paratus.

The american people are waking up to the fact that we have a very corrupt government. Change is what is needed and not the change whe have experienced. I have gone through all the political machinery since FDR. The machinery needs to be disassembled. We have experienced what a poliltcal machine can do by electing a non experienced and a quetionable qualified president. We have scrapped the bottom of the barrel and we need a flush.

The other jerks are coming to AZ to play fund-raising benefits for the pro-illegals activists.
Also, it is thought that keeping away also hurts the hospitality industry, which hires a large number of the illegals.

You are, of course, right that Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac were two of the prime entities that helped created the housing bubble that nearly put the economy down the tubes.
However, as I understand it, neither entity is mentioned, nor covered, by the recently passed financial reform bill which is supposed to prevent such disasters from happening again...

We Conservatives have played -- are playing -- into the Commiecrats' hands by engaging in Ping-Pong with this or that Issue of the Moment. The Commiecrats have succeeded in getting us to help them to create chaos, confusion, anger, frustration by drawing us into the Crisis DU JOUR. What ought to be happening is with their every move, they must be asked: "Where, in the Constitution, do you draw your authority to [take over GM, impose health "care," pass financial "reform," hire czars to oversee We, the People's every activity, take banks and mortgage companies over, fund Freddie, Fannie, the Department of Education, the Department of Homeland Security, the EPA, impose fines on British Petroleum...]?" It would not be adequate for them to say that the Commerce Clause gives them that authority, especially if they were called to task by genuine Constitutional attorneys and judges. Article 1, Section 8, of that Document ENUMERATES the TWELVE DUTIES of the federal government. All other duties remain the province of The States, confirmed by the Tenth Amendment. That must be the focus. We must put them on the defensive by forcing them to show us from where in the Constitution they glean their authority! We will lose the battle and the war if we continue to play their game of reacting to The Daily Crisis. Forcing them to justify their very existence through the Constitution would slow them to a crawl. They'd be put in the position of revealing their disregard for that Founding Document and they would place themselves at risk for impeachment and/or dismissal. Out of their own mouths they would condemn themselves.

Rifleman - I wholeheartedly agree! It is time to use the CONSTITUTION to thwart their monstrous bills, limit their laws to constitutional laws and force the Federal government back into it's constitutionally mandated role. Let the states take up responsibility for their roles, stop putting unfunded mandates on the states, and then, our representatives could spend more time at home with their constituents and find out what the people want the Government to do about their mandated roles.

Pete Stark has had a long career of abusing power in elected office. The Stark Laws have almost completely destroyed the private practice of medicine, by limiting the business side of medicine and restricting physicians involvement in any medical related business. (You wouldn't want the baker to own an oven, or the barber to own his own clippers now would you?) Pete Stark is the reason that your physician cannot even discuss his fees with another physician, (unless that physician is being treated as a patient). To do so would be considered a "tacit agreement" to "fix prices", and would result in the prosecution of both physicians. He is also the reason that discounts on fees as a "professional courtesy" to clergy, nurses and other medical staff colleagues are no longer permitted. He has ridden the backs of physicians for over twenty years and created burdensome business regulations which have driven up the costs and bureaucratic delays of private practice medical care. Of course - that is the plan. Make free-market care complicated - so that the socialists can create a government solution.
In fact, all the problems with our health care system - preObama - were caused by Government intervention, and much of that was devised by Pete Stark. Check out the STARK I and STARK II regulations, and begin to understand why trying to figure out health-care delivery seems so burdensome.
I'm glad that recent videos help show what an arrogant "servant" he really is.

Now we have the ACLU aiding Al Qaeda Terrorists. They filed a law suit to stop drone strike by our men and women in uniform.
The ACLU has finally lost its mind and it has starkly contradicted itself.
Is it "Americans" Civil Liberty Union, or is it now the Al Qaeda, terrorists, extremists and world kooks’ civil liberties union?
Instead, apparently, they would rather see those terrorists that our drones do not kill, kill Americans and American Service men and women.
The ACLU should be outlawed and declared enemy combatants. They should now be open targets for every American citizen to attack, as they would allow terrorists to kill and maim our citizens, soldiers, sailors and Airmen.
I say they lost their United States Constitutional protections and are now enemies of the American people.
The left have lost their minds and have taken things way too far!

I have a dream: my dream is to keep Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barney Frank in office after November 2nd. That way, we could see their pain as Obamacare gets repealed, Fannie and Freddie are done assunder, and Harry's interstate connection to the land he owns is torn up. Certainly we could elect conservative constitutionalists from the several states, and eliminate the RINO's so we can get back to what the founding fathers pictured that branch of government to be. As I said, it's a dream...but one worthy of chasing.

To the commenter who said that Obama et al have no idea how close this country is to revolution, I'd argue they do and welcome it, because the second there's an incident of "tea party violence" or some such nonsense, they have every excuse to "clamp down." I honestly believe Obama and his cronies would love an excuse to impose martial law on this country, and a violent "revolution" would provide just that.
Oh yeah, and there's all the connections the Left has to domestic terrorists from the Weather Underground. That, too. Coincidence, I'm sure.

Out of their own mouths they would condemn themselves." Rifleman
That's a good article, Rifleman. Since Washington loves to pass laws, I hope they will pass this one which will be in the Title of every piece of legislation, "The Congress of the United States will site the text of the Constitution that gives them the authority to pass this law.". As you say, their own mouths, will condemn them.
ENUMERATED POWERS, 12 of them, looks like this "bunch needs downsized", turned out of office, and/or IMPEACHED.
Why do they need to be "in session" all the time??? Pelosi is proving "she can call them in" so why not let go home and stay home. To " Call them in", the leadership will have to state the Constitutional reason why they must convene.

My Sister lives in California. She had such hope in this Proposition 8, on it's "second time around". The people spoke in that Referendum, the "second time around". The People spoke the "first time around", Did the judges listen???? NO. Since I know what it takes to "get ballot position" for something like this and the "tremendous doings" for such an effort, it was a very "LOUD VOICE" from the People. But I told my sister at that time, you all need to "IMPEACH the judges", if the judges wouldn't hearken to the Referendum the first time around, the next step, is "IMPEACHMENT", but the powers that be out there in California, did "another referendum".
The Constitutional remedy is "IMPEACHMENT".

With respect to the tax tables in your Thursday, July 29, 2010 note "Alexander: Taxes Do NOT Create Jobs". Here is the tax table to which I have added the percentage change in the tax rate. Note that the lowest, the one I pay increases by 50 percent. Simply put, my federal income taxes will double. Tax the rich huh?
The 10% bracket rises to 15% = 50 pct more
The 25% bracket rises to 28% = 12 pct more
The 28% bracket rises to 31% = 10.7 pct more
The 33% bracket rises to 36% = 9.1 pct more
The 35% bracket rises to 39.6% = 13.1 pct more
Thank you for your great efforts. Dave

Fran,
I'll take it for six months, but when I leave I will have disbanded the "Office of the President" back to it's Constitutional Limits, NO ABC UNELECTED Bureaus will be left, I will also "write an internal MEMO that from this time forth and forevermore, an Executive Order can only be used to order domestic duties around the White House". I will ask Rifleman, Dr. Timms, Howard Last, Mr. Door, and all other God-fearing Patriots that have "sighed and cried for the abominations done to our Beloved Constitution for more ideas on "downsizing the Monstrosity" known as the "Office of the President".
Would you like me to "give it a try"? I am willing.

"When some black Obama voters exclaim that they wish to have a dialogue with whites, it means they want an open opportunity to accuse their fellow Americans of being prejudiced."
To such persons I would quote that great political philosopher, Marion Berry: "Get over it."
Until black voters begin to accept what the more perceptive of their own leaders are beginning to see, that we are all responsible for our own actions, they will be mired down by the victim mentality and well see little progress and more likely regression in their condition.

Perhaps, creating jobs and decreasing the unemployment situation is not Obama's plan. He has certainly passed over many opportunities to stimulate economic growth and increase the number of (non-union) jobs. Perhaps, Obama wants to cause more people to join others collecting unemployment compensation, since this is like welfare, is it not? Also, the Democrats in Congress are only too eager to extend welfare and unemployment compensation payments. This will cause more people to be dependent on the Government to provide taxpayer money to live on. I would expect the jobless people, like those on welfare, would reward their benefactors with votes to keep the Democrats in office. Why would Obama want anything else?

Hey, when you are up to your rear in aligators,

For too many years I was a good democrat. Now I
can't even consider myself a Reagan Democrat. But
these people aren't really democrats either but are
lying socialist progressive who have corrupted any-
thing they touch. When you lie and scheme to get
what you want, what have your really gotten? Not
anything worth having that's for sure. You and I
HAVE to vote these illegitimet people out of office
and it won't be just a one time deal.
One more matter. I've studied the Scriptures for
years and there is no mention of the USA in them.
I believe it is because we will fall from within.
That no nation will defeat us, but that corruption
and those who want to see us fail will cause the USA to come down from within. The agendas that I
see today taking down the financial powers and the
immorality that is overwhelming the country gives
me an understanding that unless widespread repentance occurs, first among the believers, and
then among the general population, we are doomed.

Comment on News headlines section:
"Is That Higher or Lower Than 'Present'?: "Obama Gives Himself a Grade of 'Incomplete' After 18 Months" --CNN.com"
You would think a news organization could spell better than that, should have been spelled incompetent.
