"[A] wise and frugal government ... shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government." --Thomas Jefferson

Editorial Exegesis

"Obamanomics has done more than just keep unemployment high during a modest recovery. It may also be keeping high joblessness permanent by raising the costs to businesses of hiring new workers. July's 9.5% unemployment level was bad enough. But the real problem is that the private-sector jobs machine, which is usually going full tilt at this point in a recovery, now seems to be broken. To many, it's becoming clear that if President Obama's radical job-killing agenda stays in place, job growth will be nonexistent. One of America's great advantages has always been its flexible, private-sector labor markets. From 1985 to 2008, U.S. unemployment averaged 5.6%. For the six largest economies in the European Union, the average rate was 34% higher, at about 7.5%. Yet many of those countries now have jobless rates lower than ours. Why? They've been dropping Keynesian stimulus as a strategy and moving more toward cutting spending and, in some cases, cutting taxes. Not Obama. He and Congress remain wedded to an outdated economic model that replaces the private sector's animal spirit and dynamism with the dead hand of government bureaucrats and their unions as the main economic forces in our country. That's what last week's $26.1 billion state 'bailout' was all about. We were told it was to keep teachers from being laid off and 'for the children.' In reality, it was a cynical taxpayer-funded payback to teachers' unions, which gave Obama and his party enthusiastic support and millions in donations in the last election. This is Obama's New America -- a government-run economy, with special benefits for unions and plenty of government jobs, but few private ones." --Investor's Business Daily

Insight

"People unfit for freedom -- who cannot do much with it -- are hungry for power. The desire for freedom is an attribute of a 'have' type of self. It says: leave me alone and I shall grow, learn, and realize my capacities. The desire for power is basically an attribute of a 'have not' type of self." --American writer and philosopher Eric Hoffer (1902-1983)

"The welfare of the people in particular has always been the alibi of tyrants, and it provides the further advantage of giving the servants of tyranny a good conscience." --French Algerian author Albert Camus (1913-1960)

Upright

"The obvious fact about the stimulus bill is that the money didn't go, as the administration claimed it would, towards creating shovel-ready jobs. Obama promised that if the bill were passed, unemployment wouldn't reach eight percent. So [Nancy] Pelosi and [Harry] Reid did what they do best, which is to give their congressional colleagues the choice of taking a bribe or getting a beating, and managed to get the bill passed. Then, as anyone who's not a liberal could have told you, two things happened. One, the unemployment rate hit 10%; two, Obama blamed Bush." --columnist Burt Prelutsky

"We're seeing a re-emergence of constitutional principles and federalism across the country. ... Given the overreach of Washington and public disgust with politicians' disregard for the people's will, a healthy dose of state sovereignty and a reaffirmation of federalism is a good thing. ... People of all races, ethnicities, religions and creeds are concerned about the direction of the republic. Missouri's and Arizona's reassertions of the idea of state sovereignty and of federalist principles may be a sign of a new and long overdue American revolution." --Gregory L. Schneider, associate professor of history at Emporia State University

"Which is to be master, indeed? That is the question facing the people of the United States of America today. Will they be ruled by a constitution whose words have objective, propositional meaning or will they be ruled by judicial despots who strip the words of their meaning and twist them to accomplish a social agenda never envisioned by the Founding Fathers and not sanctioned by the American people?" --columnist Ken Connor

"It would be hard to think how Obama could have done a worse job on the Ground Zero mosque controversy. He took a position objectionable to the vast majority of Americans, within 24 hours chickened out, and then sent his press minions forward to assure his base and the Muslim World and its American community (over which he fawns incessantly) that he really does think we must accept a mosque that will produce nothing but pain for his countrymen and a sense of vindication to those who incinerated 3,000 Americans. It's bad policy, bad politics, and bad execution, with a side order of political cowardice." --columnist Jennifer Rubin

"You don't need to have been a lecturer in constitutional law like Obama to know that the mosque's backers have a right to build at Ground Zero. Polls show that Americans overwhelmingly acknowledge that right. But unlike the president, when his fellow Americans think of the construction of a mosque on Ground Zero, their view doesn't begin and end with the First Amendment and local zoning ordinances. ... That Obama, as the leader of the nation, fails to recognize that the situation calls for more than a sophomoric analysis that could be rendered by any first-year law student is disquieting." --columnist Peter Kirsanow

The Demo-gogues

Keen sense of the obvious: "Let me be clear: As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. ... This is America and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable." --Barack Obama on Friday offering support for the nose-thumbing mosque near Ground Zero that no one is claiming they don't have the right to build

Profiles in courage: "I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making a decision to put a mosque there." --BO backtracking on Saturday after his original comments didn't poll well

Bragging rights: "We have been able to deliver the most progressive legislative agenda -- one that helps working families -- not just in one generation, maybe two, maybe three." --Barack Obama

Race bait: "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay? Do I need to say more?" --Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV)

The law doesn't say anything about skin color: "Immigration is nothing new. We are a nation of immigrants. So because the wave of immigrants we have now -- their skin's a tone darker than ours -- doesn't make it any different." --Harry Reid

Belly laugh of the week: "I've always tried to play by the rules." --Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY)

With friends like these... "I think a lot of the House seats we're going to lose are those who have been the toughest for the Democrats to pull into line -- the Democrats that have been the most difficult." --Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), not making any friends on his side of the aisle

Dezinformatsia

Tolerance and diversity! "[T]o say actually we believe sufficiently strongly in diversity, in private property rights for our Muslim citizens, I think that's a great global message." --Chrystia Freeland, global editor-at-large for Reuters, on Obama's support for the mosque near Ground Zero

Shut up, he explained: "Let me tell you something. First of all, we're not talking Ground Zero, we're talking two blocks from Ground Zero, there are apartment buildings there, there's a catholic church there, a pizza parlor there, there are hotels there. There might even be a porn shop there. This is not a sacred site, this is all about religion and the opponents -- there's only one reason to oppose this mosque, and that is to paint Islam as an evil religion and to paint all Muslims and equate them with a 19 terrorist who's flew into that building. It is wrong. It is un-American and the people against it ought to be ashamed of playing a cheap political trick." --radio talk-show host and author Bill Press

Can't we all just get along? "The roughly 70 percent of Americans who oppose the Ground Zero mosque are ignorant." --MSNBC's Cenk Uygur

"You know, politically, [the Obamas' trip to Spain] was not a smart move. But in the grand scheme of things, what real difference does it make? I would guess that Sasha is probably learning some Spanish. Maybe she learned a little more Spanish on her trip. You know, the fact is, Spain could use some help, too. And we need Spain to be stronger economically than it is in the Euro zone. I mean, you can make the case if you really need to." --ABC's Cokie Roberts on Michelle and Sasha Obama's lavish trip to Spain

The Cordoba Mosque. Why Cordoba? Wasn't that the capitol of the country they took over? Isn't that a direct reference to islamic conquest?

obama has admitted he is a muslim. Why not get on that and push it as hard as you can? A muslim will not turn his back on a fellow muslim for any reason and obama is sure proving that!

The whole idea of the Islamic mosque in lower Manhattan is to 'blare' on loudspeakers the 'call to (devil) worship' so that it can be heard at "Ground Zero". It is as simple as that. This would be a sign of victory for the jihadists. Obama knows this and he is an accessory to this. If Americans don't wake up by the mid-term elections he will have destroyed much of this country in just four years. Give him four more and he will bring down this country. May he burn in hell because he believes in a cult! He is a facist, Communist, whatever but he is not a true American At best, he is a traitor. Now let's blame Bush for this too!!!!!

From Wikipedia: Córdoba (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈkorðoβa]; also Cordova; Qurṭuba قرطبة) is a city in Andalusia, southern Spain, and the capital of the province of Córdoba. An Iberian and Roman city in ancient times, in the Middle Ages it was capital of an Islamic caliphate. During this time Cordoba was one of the largest cities in the world. Its population in 2008 was 325,453.[1][dead link]

Today a moderately-sized modern city, the old town contains many impressive architectural reminders of when Qurṭuba (قرطبة), the thriving capital of the Caliphate of Córdoba, governed almost all of the Iberian peninsula. It has been estimated that in the latter half of the tenth century Córdoba, with up to 500,000 inhabitants, was then the most populated city in Europe and, perhaps, in the world.[2]

We keep hearing about the high unemployment rate. This does not accurately reflect the number of unemployed, however. Many people have used all their unemployment benefits but are still without jobs. Once they are off the unemployment rolls, they are no longer counted. I think the true rate of unemployment would be staggering.

But, please, you paint the picture of the utopia so many in America want: letting the government run everything, letting the government pay for everything, and letting the government shame anyone who doesn't agree and follow-along.

To allow the mosque or not, that is the question. Or is it?

Had the Muslims planned to build a mosque at the proposed location prior to 9/11 there wouldn't have been such a furvor. So what happened on 9/11 to change things. Well, about 3000 of our fellow Americans lost their final battle against Islamic terrorism. Where? At the Twin Towers. So does that mean the entire area should be enshrined and never used for anything else again?

My grandfather lost his final battle against old age several years ago. Where? At his home. So should his home be enshrined in accordance with my family's love for him? And what about all the American murder victims who lose their final battles at various spots all across the country. Should all those crime scenes be cordoned off forever more?

I think where our loved ones died on 9/11 isn't as important as how and why they died. We mustn't allow this mosque debate to overshadow the fact that an inherent aspect of Islam has always been to conquer anyone who is not of their faith. And for whatever reason, that has been a reawakened within Islam and a reaffirmation of the conquest directive, here, now, in our time. They are coming after us because we offend their god. They will not stop unless and until we make it fruitless for them to continue.

As an entirely nonreligious person, I find no personal value in religion and simply accept others' religions as being important to them. Up until this reawakening of Islam, religion has done me no harm. Now however, I recognize Islam as a death doctrine.

So to allow the mosque or not. Did I answer the question?

Obama says "We have been able to deliver the most progressive legislative agenda -- one that helps working families -- not just in one generation, maybe two, maybe three." and gets praise.

Reagan said, "Tax cuts are like oil prices. When they go up you see them at the pump the next day, when they go down it takes six months to see a change at the pump. My tax cuts may take 8, or 10, or 12 years to get to everybody, but they WILL get to everybody." and was berated by the media for "trickle down economics".

Reagan was right. The economy began to improve almost immediately, and the bottom rung saw the turnaround at about the 10 year point. Sadly, the public had forgotten what Reagan had said, and credited the election of Bill Clinton for the almost instant economic turn around after his inauguration.

Why would the demoncrats be clear when obfuscation is sufficient to keep the public totally confused about what they are actually voting for and they can be re-elected for the rest of their lives in meaningless elections? After all, if they were totally honest about the fact that they are the party that is ensuring choking taxes, hyper-inflation, insurmountable and ever-increasing debt, the communistic redistribution of every man's wealth and worth, total government control of every facet of American life, unlimited welfare to replace real jobs, and the literal slavery of every common man, woman and child to the whims of these so-called elite - who are traitorous usurpers of power - then they would have an actual revolution on their hands.

As a member of the unemployed, in the middle my 16th month unemployed, I take umbrage to Business Investor's Daily's idea that there are "plenty of government jobs". Only a half million government jobs have been created by the stimulus, compared to 2.5 to 5 million private sector job losses (depending on whose info you believe), does not sound like plenty of government jobs. And, many of those government jobs weren't created - they were "saved". Government is spending more money, not creating more jobs.

I find it interesting that the federals and the president can point to "freedom of religion" for the location of a Muslim place of worship and can cite "separation of church and State" for the involvement or appearance of anything Christian. The Muslim faith has a history of building places of worship on top destroyed facilities of other cultures as a demonstration of subjection of the other culture (so have Christians for that matter - it is after all a clear message of who won) This is however, the first time I have seen the ones who suffered at the hands of the "radical Muslims" (How does that separate itself from Moslem faith) arguing that they should be treated as the conquered. Apologists win again - I suggest they engage in the supreme apology - and take a lesson in multicultural behavior from Japanese culture and history.

The word, "Islam," means "submission." The Qur'an allows for no interpretation of The Prophet's pronouncements. There are no alternatives, no exceptions, no special dispensations. Its laws penetrate every aspect of Muslim life, from birth to death and is shot through with the most horrific punishments directed against deviation. No act, no statement, no behavior escapes Muhammad's Shariah, enforced by the mullahs. On the other hand, "Democracy" means "rule of the people." It encourages individual interpretation and initiative. It tolerates dissent. It presumes that individuals are capable of choosing for themselves the direction and scope of their lives. Islam and Democracy can never achieve coexistence much less symbiosis. Either Islam or Democracy will survive. It will not be both. It will be the one which is dedicated to its founding principles. This isn't about one mosque, per se. This is about the survival of this "shining light on a hill"; this is about the survival of Western Civilization. There are more mosques in Scandinavia than churches; the Right Bank of Paris has been swallowed up by Moslems; all of North Africa is Moslem; Britain is incorporating Shariah into Common Law; there are 2,000,000 Moslems in the United States and they exert constant pressure to have themselves judged under Shariah rather than the Constitution. They're demanding freedom of religion for themselves so that they can eventually bring America under Shariah. We are at war and our children and grandchildren are The Prophet's prize. Islam intends to dominate the world. Muhammad demands it.

Susan - I hope you don't take umbrage at this, but there are already way too many gov jobs - gov jobs do not produce anything (some perform essential services, but those could be performed just as easily by a private company.) If the stimulus had never been, but instead gov had cut spending and and taxes, I believe plenty of private sector jobs would have been created to replace those that had been lost. Instead, what private sector jobs that have been created are mostly temporary for things such as infrastructure - roads and bridges (many were needed, but should have been a state/local responsibility - much was wasted!) There are already plenty of gov employees but there are too few private sector jobs and more are needed to turn the un-employment around. (Though Gov employees pay taxes, if all the employees were gov employees, the tax rate would have to be 100%.)

So where are the union jobs? The IBEW International

Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, has 1,000 on the

book in Minneapolis, plus 200 apprentices (this is

the out of work book) St Paul (a smaller local has

about 650 on the out of work book) other locals in

the state of Minnesota like Rochester, Duluth, Hibbing, all have hundreds of members out of work and they have many that have already exhausted their

99 weeks. These workers are not like the auto workers, their projects have to come in on time and

under budget or the next time they will be non-

union. These workers do go beyond 8 for 8 in the

workplace, and do quality work, yet where are the

jobs? It seems like every road in the country is

being fixed to take one to no job. Other locals like

Detroit have 3,500 men and women unemployed and

they have exhausted their 99 weeks over a year ago.

And windmills and solar panels are not going to put

this workforce back to work. It will be nuclear plants, refineries, that are slated for Superior,

WI, and Sioux Falls, SD, and there needs to be an

renewed effort in coal gasification power besides

oil slate, and Alaska drilling for oil. Please take

Patriot,

9/11 hurt the economy, remember the stock market started to fall pretty bad almost immediately. The temorarily weakened economy cause investors, business people, and consumers to lose faith in industry and business. This weakened the economy more and it snow balled from there. The author can say Obamas recovery of the economy has failed because history has shown that high taxes and big government always hurt the economy. Hoover took one of the biggest economic booms started by Harding and carried on by Coolidge and turned it into the depression. How? He signed on new tariffs that drove up the costs for businesses. you know where that goes. Production dropped, profits dropped, unemployment sky rocketed.

You can argue that FDR did bring the economy back with government programs and high taxes, but with record deficits(at the time) and we have been on the edge of an economic pitfall ever since. Look into our economic history. The best years were preceded by low taxes, small government and a balanced budget. On the opposite side, the worst years were preceded by high taxes, new government programs, and deficits.

Bush's tax cuts didnt have enough time to save our economy plus the high government spending didnt help. Look up Harding Secretary of Treasury, last name is mellon, cant remember his first. You will see. Compare then to today.

I am just a poor citizen from out here in the provinces who would like to know why everything today is either racially motivated or has to do with one's religious beliefs? The protest against the mosque at Ground Zero has nothing to do with ones' religious freedom, and every ones' sensitivity. There are other places in Manhatten that are less sensitive to many then Ground Zero/near Ground Zero. ( As to the churches already there, they were there before 9-11 and should not play into this). Why is it so important for these people to want to put it where they want to put it? Islam is supposed to be a religion of peace, but I don't see that in this case. This is a thumbing of the Islamic nose for all Americans that want to remember their loved ones lost on that fateful day.

Research the mosque in Cordoba, Spain and learn that, in accordance with islamic practices, that mosque was built upon the ruins of a Christian church, using stones from that church; thus the name selected of "Cordoba House" for a New York City 911 site. If permitted to go forward with this outrage, you can expect the imam builder to attempt to incorporate bits and pieces of the twin towers into the Cordoba House building - it is a base symbolic requirement of Islam in memorializing their attach on the United States.

As I was reading through the Comments, I had finished a terrific one by "Rifleman" (and I would urge everyone to read that one, and get your friends to read it too), and then I read yours.

A bit more than half-way through your piece, I agreed with everything you were saying, and thought that you might just top the "Rifleman", but you then seemed to drop the ball when you said the following:

"Obama had a golden opportunity to do the right thing, but instead, as usual, bowed to political correctness by taking the easy way out. The right thing would be to defend the right of people to worship and defend people’s religious freedoms, but then to strongly encourage that Imam Rauf relocate the mosque from the shadow of the site of the greatest and most horrific attack perpetrated on American soil."

You spent the entire first half of your piece, and more, very adeptly citing how Muslim Imams around the globe are insisting America accepts Sharia, citing their calls for Jihad against non-Muslims, citing our insane politically-correct tolerance of their intolerant religion that wants us converted or dead, etc, etc, etc.

Then you seemed to capitulate when you suggested that the right thing to do is to defend everyone's right to religious freedom but just insist that the Imams build their mosque elsewhere! I'm sorry, but it seems to me that from nearly everything you wrote, the problem is much bigger than this one mosque! For America to fixate over this one mosque is absurd and embarrassing. Islam is an enemy of the world, an enemy of civilization. To build this mosque, or any mosque, anywhere in America, only serves to lay another stone in Islam's path to Sharia for everyone.

Obama didn't utter the right solution, but neither did you. Please try again.

The Qur'an was written by one person(Mohammad). It is written in such a manner that anything in the latter part that says something different about something that was covered in the earlier part, supercedes that earlier part. All the parts about killing infidels and such are in the latter part, therefore they are the part to live by. It also says that it is OK for Islams to lie to gain their domination of the world, so you must take everything said by them with a grain of salt, or do you want to convert and live under their laws. I sure don't. Give them an inch and they will take a mile. People need to study it all further and learn what it's all about.

The building of the mosque is being discussed in the framework of "religious freedom". This is not correct, because building a mosque is most assuredly not covered under "religious freedom". One is not allowed to build where and what one chooses. That is determined by zoning laws and the local political subdivision (township, borough, etc.). Religious freedom is an individual right; building a mosque is NOT a right, any more than building a cathedral or apartment building.

I think the US is far more likely to bowing over forward to be tolerant. AS to bowing, I can't seem to get this imagery of Nancy Pelosi in Dominatrix with Harry Reid bowing on his knees by her side held by leash with a little black hood over his eyes, in his wingtips, boxers, and a corset to stiffen his spine.

M Rick Timms, MD

I agree that this issue is more about the propriety of building a Mosque at ground zero, than it is a question of freedom of religious expression.

But I do think that it is fair to examine the question of Constitutional "Rights". Is there a point at which a constitutional right is "lost" because it is excercised in a manner that violates another Constitutional principle?

Does an individual, or even an organized religion, such as Islam, have the unrestricted right to free speech and the expression of "religious belief" even if that includes incitement to riot, physical violence, and calls for the establishment of a separate legal system of law that would supersede the very Law that is embodied in the Constitution.

Of course not! What are the boundaries between religious and political speech. They seem to vary according to the speaker. For decades we have seen Democrat candidates visiting the pulpits of black churches around the country - raising support without restraint, or calls for "separation." While I do not like it, I believe that such activity is legal - so long as no religion is designated as a "state religion" or used to subvert the laws of the United States. There's the rub. I have no doubt that Islam is using the protections of our Constitution in order to subvert that very Law, and impose religious law in it's place. We can ignore that at our peril. A visit to Europe and the UK will provide ample evidence.

We cannot continue to treat ISLAM as a religion of peace, and blindly pretend that it shares the principles of religious tolerance that we see in all other Religions of the modern world. Islam is only peaceful if you are compliant with it's demands. Every conflict in the world today involves the forces of Islamic "extremism" at war to impose religious conversion - or death - upon the infidels. There is, of course - always some claim of an instigating offense against Islam -- such as the US presence in Saudi Arabia prior to 9/11.

It is clear from the Qur'an, that Islam is a Religion of patience and deceit, but not of peace. The "radical" element is simply less patient and has moved beyond "gaining the trust of the infidel" in an attempt to convert them. They have begun JIHAD and calls for Sharia Law. We have all seen the non-Muslim "peacemakers" tell us that this is simply a small Radical element that is hijacking Islam. IF that is so - then where are the resounding protests of those Muslims who do not want to see their faith distorted by radicals? Are they simply silent- like the peaceful Germans who tolerated Hitler - or are they just being "patient"?

I do not wish to submit to Islam, I do not want to wear a burka, I do not want to be treated like an incomplete being that must be controlled by the all powerful muslim man, I don't wish to become part of a poligamist marriage, I do not wish to be beaten daily, I do not wish to be accompanied everywhere by a family male escort, I do not wish to be tortured, stoned to death, or be subject of a vicious savage honor killing. I want to be a free American, with rights, free will, to be as I see fit.

If I have to fight Islam in my own country, I will. It does not seem that most Americans understand who and what muslims are. They are so naive that they believe all the lies spewed by the defenders of Islam, the useful idiots dhimmies, a.k.a. slaves.

There is a dhimmie tax that must be paid by infidels if they are allowed to co-exist.(I get angry when I see a stupid "co-exist" bumper sticker with various religious symbols spelling out the word - what a bunch of ignoramuses). This dhimmie tax can be levied by anyone, at any time, multiple times.

Generally, if infidels do not convert, their heads are cut off. There are hangings, stonings, and limbs being cut in various arabic countries that follow strict Shariah Law punishment.

There are concurrent mega mosques being built right now around the U.S. in rural areas on large tracts of land, 15 acres or more, mosques that cost upwards of millions for no more than 250 muslim families, sometimes even less. Where do these monies come from? Why is land being sold to them? What kind of American patriots are you, selling land to the enemy that is going to destroy you? Very smart indeeed, your children and grandchildren are going to be so proud of you that you were so religiously tolerant, they have no country of their own anymore.

It seems far-fetched, however, look at history, look what happened to Europe for 500 years under Ottoman Empire and look at Europe now. The Turks failed eventually and the Christians won, but today, there is a silent islamization of Europe that is succeeding quite nicely. What is killing Europe? Religious tolerance and demographics - Europeans are not having babies, but muslims do, lots of them (after all, each muslim can take four wives), while the Europeans pay for them and support them on endless entitlement social programs. Meanwhile, idle "youth" burn the towns with their protests because they feel marginalized although they had no intention to become part of the society where they live, of the culture, or the language.

Clinton raised taxes and economy soared because we had a balanced budget. Reagan and Bush lowered taxes which created a massive deficit and income only expaned for the top 1%. Poverty got worse. Not enough time for the tax cuts to work. They had years to work in which they did not. If you look at history you will find that cutting taxes at the top bracket does NOT create more jobs. I think it is your sense of Economics that is baffling.

Good Post, Ileana. It should be "required reading" for all people who have espoused this "religious toleration nonsense".

Good Post, Dr. Timms, As usual you get to the "end of the argument" and "tear off the coverings".

Who ever is Patriot???? Who do you think will venture to "start a business", they have to have "capital" before they can start a business and "employ people to work" ie pay salaries. When "small business" is "taxed" that they cannot pay their bills or "enjoy the fruits of their labor" ie gain a profit for their risk. They go out of business. DUH

Get a copy of the Constitution, patriot, the federal level has "enumerated powers". The movements in Washington to destroy "private, small business" are multiplying daily. It is a disgrace that the federal level has this "stolen power." I fault both parties for not respecting their Constitutional Boundaries. Where is the Party that will stand and REQUIRE the "Oath of Office" be respected and who among them will call for IMPEACHMENT and REPEAL???? If their "legislation" has exceeded the boundaries of the federal level which is contained in the "Enumerated Powers"???

Congress has the power under the Constitution to IMPEACH and REPEAL UNCONSTITUTIONAL wickedness. Congress needs to get busy about what they can do to set US free once again, "to live and move and have our beings" ie own a business and "enjoy the fruits of your labors" ie profits from your business.

Quietly and specifically targeting the tumors may only teach the patient that they can continue doing the things that got them there in the first place; return for more surgery, come out still looking pretty, and return to the popular scene.

A violent, ham-fisted approach - with pocket knives and fishing line - would leave scars to remind the patient of their stupidity every time they looked or bent or twisted.

Is it better to be pretty and foolish, or repulsive and wise?

Just stop paying taxes. We have to do something. If we won't fight and take our country back, just stop paying taxes until there is fiscal restraint. with unemployment skyrocketing, most U.S. citizens are having to tighten their belt a bit (not that you don't still see excess everywhere). How is is our ELECTED representatives see no need to tighten government's belt? Basic math, anyone? This cannot work. Since the Muslims have a "right" to build their mosque near the hallowed ground of deceased heroes, I wonder if there would be an awful lot of complaining if I exercised my "right" to open a Pork Barbeque sandwich shop across the street from their new mosque, and all the other mosques around the Country. I was thinking a great big 100' X 150' signs with a picture of a smiling pig snearing at the mosque would be a fine logo.

Maybe we could deliver lunch to these "fine, thoughtful" people once in awhile. Hmmm....something tells me there might be a few eyebrows raised should I attempt this.....BLT anyone?

Patriot,

Tax cuts across the board with a balanced budget do lower poverty and make jobs. If a business owner has more profit then they have the opportunity to expand. Expansion means job openings. Oh and high profits also opens the door for higher wages. Higher wages and more jobs means more spending and better business everywhere. Capitalism baby, elevating American society in a financial way since the Founding Fathers, except when someone stifles it.

Economic policy can not change the world over night. Tax cuts and spending cuts can take 8 years or 10, or even 15, maybe more. Obamas policies are failing and will fail because it is based of Keynesian economics. Keynesian economic theories do not work.

Did you read about Fmr. Secretary of the Treasury Mellon like I suggested? Maybe I should spike your interest? Mellon noticed that the higher taxes have been throughout history, the less the government pulled in through taxes. He also noticed that the lower taxes were, the larger the intake was by the government through taxes. Interesting huh?

I recently read a book called "The Blood of Lambs" by "Kamal Saleem" (not his real name). In his book he tells his story of growning up as a Muslim in Beirut, Lebanon. Just to go over parts of it real quick (you should read it if you want the full story):

At age 7 he was spending time with the Muslim Brotherhood (Extremist organization).

A few years later he was recruited into the PLO(terrorist organization) to smuggle weapons and explosives into Isreal.

His parents taught him that Christians and Jews are wicked and that if he kills a Jew his hand will light up in the presence of Allah.

He fought in a civil war in Lebanon between Christians and Muslims in the 1970s, fought in Afghanistan during the Soviet Invasion, and did numerous raids into Isreal with the orders to kill civilians.

He came to America to recruit Americans into Islam and to make them extremists (home grown jihad, or holy war) in the 1980s.

He changed his ways through the acts of kindness of Christian men (who he was taught are wicked)after a car accident. These men paid his medical bills and one of them let Mr. Saleem stay as his house with his family until he recovered.

Islam is not peaceful. The Quran says to convert the Infidels and if they will not convert to cut off their heads. Mr. Saleem goes wherever he can speak, colleges, churches, etc. to tell his story. I heard him speak. He said about 16% of the Quran is peaceful, the rest is violence and hatred. Islam means submission and slavery. Under Shariah Law (Islam) you are told how to wash, how to eat, what to eat, how to use the bathroom. Every aspect of your life has to be a certain way. If you speak against Islam you are condemned to death or beaten publicly. The Quran says the fires of hell are fueled by women. Women have to cover themselves, they can not drive or go anywhere by themselves, and have to be completely submissive to the men. If a woman becomes pregnant outside of marriage she is stoned to death, even if she became pregnant by rape. Murder is allowed in Islam, it is expected of men to kill their daughters or wives or sisters if they disgrace the family or Islam, its called an honor killing.

This is not peaceful. Learn about Islam. Find a copy of the Quran and read it. Do not listen to the lies of Islam being a "peaceful religion". they are told it is ok to lie as long as it is to advance Islam and conquer.

Reading the passages about Islam in the West and Christianity's decline in Europe made me think.... Two passages to consider ....

" The sisters care for forty-nine thousand lepers. They are among the most unwanted, unloved, and neglected people. The other day one of our sisters was washing a leper covered with sores.... A Muslim holy man was present, standing close to her.

He said: "All these years I have believed that Jesus Christ is a prophet. Today I believe that Jesus Christ is God since he has been able to give such joy to this sister; so that she can do her work with so much love".

and

""But in the West you have another kind of poverty - spiritual poverty. This is far worse. People do not believe in God, do not pray. people do not care for each other. You have the poverty of people who do not know how to suffer; who give in to despair. This poverty of the heart is often more difficult to relieve and to defeat."

Mother Teresa of Calcutta

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

That is the power of my faith and my God. The best way to fight radical Islam ( and I do not believe that all Muslims fall into this category, but a substantial minority does ) is to get our own house in order and return to our Roots.

I've never heard of a poor person creating jobs.

I've heard of entrepeneurs with an idea, spending money to develop a product which would eventually lead to employment to other people. By then, that entrepeneur is relatively well-off.

Everybody's standard of living improved under Reagan, Clinton, and both Bushes in spite of wars. We cannot say that about your current president, Mr. Patriot. Everyone is worse off economically, socially, politically, racially, etc.

There was No surplus under Clinton, it was all voodoo accounting. You can twist and turn the data to show anything you want, if you are smart enough and crooked enough. And it seems that both democrats and republicans have fine tuned the art of deception and voodoo accounting.

My oppostion is Islam is not a safe relion or a relion at all. The Quran advocates killing all that do not beleive in Islam and that lying is acceptabe to God during the practice of Jihad. Therefore it is a question of national security, U.S. soverignty, general welfare, common defense & retintion of life , liberty and the persuit of happiness.

With regards to the mosque at GZ, we all know they have the "right" to build it. However, is it the right thing to do? We all know there are other mosques available for the Muslims to worship in so the need is questionable. Why hasn't anyone asked why build it there so close to the tragedy that the "so called radical Muslims" caused? Why do they insist it be built when it is causing so much controversy and so many Americans are against it? They claim to want to show how peaceful and tolerant they are, then why so much insistence to this? All the protests and polls make it known that many many Americans oppose it. It is not religious tolerance, it is not religious period. Islam is politics and their politics are about gaining influence and control in this country. Period! Their continued obliviousness of how we feel does not matter to them and they are using OUR Constitution against us by making it a religious argument. Our politicians have been brainwashed.

There is and old saying, "united we stand, divided we fall". Well this country couldn't be more divided. There are those who believe that our president and the leaders of this nation are taking us the wrong way. I agree with those who believe they are. So many things going on that no one can keep track of it all. There are liberals, conservatives, moderates, progressives, marxists, socialists, on and on. Problem is they all believe theres is the only way.

I have nineteen Grandchildren, my desire in life is that they grow up in a free America like I did. Not one that is riddled with regulation and extreme taxes. I fear for them. My walk through this world is almmost done, the only thing I can do at this point is to tell them stories of how things used to be. I think that will give them the will to change what they can. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that an America as divided as it is cannot survive.
