Publisher's Note
In observance of Good Friday and in celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we take leave from the rigors of analyzing the week's news, policy and opinion in order to focus on an eternal message. To our readers of faiths other than Christianity, we welcome you to read on, and we hope that this edition serves to deepen your understanding of our faith -- the faith of so many of our Founders. To all of our readers, we wish God's blessing and peace upon you and your families. (As always, permission to forward or reprint is granted.)
Quote of the Week
He is not here, but has risen."On the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, 'Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.'" --Luke 24:1-6
Resurrection Day Meditations
"The Son of God suffered unto the death, not that men might not suffer, but that their sufferings might be like His." --Scottish author George MacDonald (1824-1905)
"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God.' That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic -- on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg -- or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." --British author C.S. Lewis (1898-1963)
"I still can't help wondering how we can explain away what to me is the greatest miracle of all and which is recorded in history. No one denies there was such a man, that he lived and that he was put to death by crucifixion. Where ... is the miracle I spoke of? Well consider this and let your imagination translate the story into our own time -- possibly to your own home town. A young man whose father is a carpenter grows up working in his father's shop. One day he puts down his tools and walks out of his father's shop. He starts preaching on street corners and in the nearby countryside, walking from place to place, preaching all the while, even though he is not an ordained minister. He never gets farther than an area perhaps 100 miles wide at the most. He does this for three years. Then he is arrested, tried and convicted. There is no court of appeal, so he is executed at age 33 along with two common thieves. Those in charge of his execution roll dice to see who gets his clothing -- the only possessions he has. His family cannot afford a burial place for him so he is interred in a borrowed tomb. End of story? No, this uneducated, property-less young man has, for 2,000 years, had a greater effect on the world than all the rulers, kings, emperors; all the conquerors, generals and admirals, all the scholars, scientists and philosophers who have ever lived -- all of them put together. How do we explain that -- unless He really was what He said He was?" --President Ronald Reagan (1911-2004)
From your brothers and sisters at The Patriot Post, we wish you a blessed day in celebration of our Savior.

One might, more accurately, describe your statement as "Holy Quote of the Week" and I am glad for it otherwise, the true miracle that President Reagan missed would be absent your article--the resurrection proving the Divinity of Jesus Christ by God as the "suffering servant" and "Lamb of God" who fulfilled all of the prophesies recorded of Him in the books of the Torah and won glory for Himself and salvation for His elect.

The greatest story ever told! Christ's death, burial and RESURRECTION, Without the resurrection there would be no eternal life. One other thing...our Lord Jesus Christ is now seated at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for His people.
How we need a revival in this nation!
Thank you, Patriot Post for your steadfastness.

24 Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."
25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life ; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,
26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this ?"
27 She said to Him, "Yes, Lord ; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world."

Yes, indeed a beautiful tribute to the Savior of the world, represented by that picture of the earthly mother of Jesus! However, one may ask: How happy can this same Savior be, especially with our nation, wuich claims to be under God and its money says, in God We Trust, while at the same time being the mass graves of over 50 million of unborn babies killed while in a mother's womb, with the slaughter houses continuing in business and murdering hundreds and thousands more ever year? Yes, the blame game is full speed ahead by so called conservatives; blaming the liberals for such attrocity with the world look in and on; mostly that part of the world where America's mighty guns roar and killing also thousands of innocent ones, with the Founding Fathers shaking in their graves ove such violation of the Constitution they wrote, plus all the addition wonderful wise words for all generations to follow. Yes, and in addition, our nation actually, in full financial bankrupt conditions, as the fight in the Congress adds more to how deep down America has morally fallen, called: Sin! How long will God Almighty put up with America? Only He knows! I suggest America's time if fast running out!

Thank you for printing this. It seems that America tries to be so politically correct all the time that those of us that are Christians aren't allowed to celebrate our faith openly for "fear" of offending others. Well, I've been offended many times because we're encouraged not to say Merry Christmas. I'm okay with the U.S. being a melting pot as long as those that are coming to our country realize that we are not going to give up our religious beliefs and rights just as we don't require them to do so. So with that said, thank you again for publishing this article and Happy Easter!

Thank you so much for this post. Don't ever quit or equivocate on the importance and truth of who Christ is. That is why we keep receiving your e-mails! We love getting these, but really, the foundation of what you do is this: That Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World, that He is the reason the founding founders had the faith that they had and, indeed, founded this country. All other religions are able to be practiced here, but Christianity is the foundation of this republic, without which we would not have had such a successful experiment over 200 years ago. Sad how those foundations have been being eroded over these years. . .
Thanks again for all you do and for the pertinent information you provide each day.

Thank you for this interlude of grace and introspection. It occurs to me that yesterday was the so-called "Day of Random Kindness." Today we recall the "Day of Intentional and Universal Kindness," where we recount God's plan of salvation unfolding, with the perfect servant goes forward suffering the abuse of his peers and dying upon a cross for the payment of our sins and the redemption of of our lives. Cherishing the freedoms we have, let us cherish also the freedom from sin, the freedom from worldly whims, freedom from fear, freedom from evil, which comes to us by God's grace and which is received by faith: in his holy name.

More assurance that our faith in Christ is sure and True: GOD was the 1st to prophecy about His coming: Genesis 3:15--GOD speaking judgment, to satan, and spoke of "her Seed" (virgin birth), instead of natural seed of man. EVERYTHING Jesus did was to reverse the curse that was to come to all of mankind, thru the sins of the 1st Adam. Satan thought he had eliminated man's choice, but GOD had a perfect Plan; Perfect Man to give mankind The Way back to right relationship with GOD, as was 1st intended:
1st Adam was tempted by satan and failed; The last Adam (Jesus--1 Corinthians 15:45) was tempted by satan and was victorious over sin, death (both physical/spiritual) and satan. (Matthew 4) Jesus took they keys of death and hell from satan, making The Way for us to change our destiny! (choice) Thank You, Jesus for reversing the curse!
Haleleuia! He is Risen, indeed!

Your site is a blessing today!
As some people have been taught; however, Joseph (Yosef & Yeshua (names in Hebrew) were stone masons (that incorporated carpentry along with other sophisticated skills with other crafts such as carving & metal working) when the word is translated from Hebrew. Yeshua was called "Master" by the Jews. He grew up as other Jewish boys schooled in a Beit Midrash (school). To earn the title of Master, he would have gone on to study with a titled & renowned Master teacher. This was the culture of that day from historical study. Yeshua was not only a skilled young man but also a highly educated one as well. He was in synch with the Scriptures,"Study to show yourself approved unto God ... rightly dividing the Word of Truth." May you be visited with Yeshua's Spirit during this Resurrection Memorial.

I spent years in the wilderness of lukewarm, rarely practiced pseudo-faith. I had several "conversion" experiences where "I gave my life to Christ", all of which were false. I guess that I was looking for a blinding experience such as Paul had. It never happened. Then over the course of about a year in my job as a Security Guard I witnessed much of the depravity that humans can commit on each other. I began to pray. Sometime during that period I realized that I had turned my life around and that Christ had taken control. Slowly, patiently He worked within me until I was His. I still fall but I know that He is there, waiting.
Thanks for a great article.

Thank you for the focus on the most phenomenal display of love ever known to mankind--that the perfect sinless one took on him all the sins of mankind---became sin for us, was deserted by his friends, endured cruel mockery and torture, was forsaken by the Father who could not look upon sin and through it all he wiped away the bill of charges against us. Because of the regulations, it stood as a testimony against us, but he removed it by nailing it to the execution-stake. Stripping the rulers and authorities (Satanic) of their power, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by means of the stake. (cross).
What we do with this awesome love will determine our eternal destiny. Thank you again for giving this message of hope in this venue.

Do enjoy your holiday, but don't forget that religiosity is not the same thing as patriotism. There are many atheists who love our country and defend the constitution. Conflating faith with patriotism is in error.
Having said that, we will be coloring eggs at our house. Not that there's anything remotely Christian about celebrating Estrus with eggs and rabbits. It's a pleasant syncretism.

As always, Mark, you have voiced the thoughts that many of us hold near and dear. The Bible tells of a young man of peace who preached the Word of His Father, God. As Easter approaches we would all do well to meditate on Him and decide who we want to follow; a Man who still preaches peace, faith, love, and concern for your fellow man, or a man whose followers have turned their "religion" into a system of hate, murder, female subjugation, and intolerance for those who do not believe as they do. "As for me and my house, we will serve The Lord." FOR HE IS RISEN!!!!!

Thank God for this beautiful country, where atheists have the opportunity to throw in with those who love the Author of truth and justice--that would not be possible for those living in religiously totalitarian lands. Let us be thankful, for while many more atheists throw in with those who despise authority, promoting envy and strife, living life without regard to decency, justice and truth, there are also those who guard and treasure the gift of the moral compass placed within them, even while they fail to credit the Giver of that precious gift. Happy Estrus for some, Blessed Day of Passover for others. In either case, to God be the glory and blessedness for us all.

Alexander, I greatly appreciate this special Resurrection Day edition - Thank you.
Having witnessed for several years the moral integrity and courage of the writers of our constitition through the editions of the Patriot Post, I feel privileged and proud to be affiliated through your weekly postings. I pray that you and all your readers will stay true to the upward call of God for our nation and world.
As an important aside: The posting of a comment entitled "A Message from Jesus" by so-called Rev. Dr. Michael DD, whoever he may claim to be, posted April 22, 2011 at 11:42:48 AM,. . . is a far cry from anything resembling the truth of the Bible. This person has been duped into believing a lie. (His words sound much like a cult belief that claims that Jesus Christ is not God). Please do not let this person's "sweet talk" in the "name of Jesus," convince anyone that he is speaking truth.
Yes, Jesus did claim to be God - in every word, teaching and miracle and in every action that He did, especially in the last one, His offering of Himself to the Father for our sins, to die in our place on Good Friday's cross, and in His glorious resurrection. When He appeared to Thomas (with the other apostles) He invited Thomas to put "his hand into the wounds." His resurrected body was "in the flesh."
This is a day of great meaning and rejoicing for all of us who "know and believe" the Son of God's words of truth. I pray that Rev. Dr. Michael DD will search deeper to see the light of truth in all God has revealed in His Word -the Bible.
There are many who proclaim lies - but HERE IS THE PLACE FOR TRUTH.
Peace to all in Christ our Saviour.

Joseph of Arimethea was Jesus uncle on Mary's side. There is evidence that during the dark years which are not spoken of in the Bible, that Jesus traveled with Joseph to Glastonbury England and studied extensively there, learning everything He would need to complete His ministry. There is an area in England where the gravestones have carved on the reverse a picture of a young Jesus, dressed in a tunic, with arms raised, referred to as Tunic Croses.
My point is that Jesus was not uneducated as Reagan indicated.

History records many who gave their lives for something they believed to be true. Jesus appeared to over 500 people after His bodily resurrection (ate meals, Thomas placed his hand inside Jesus' wound). Most of these were martyrd. But these did NOT willingly die for .something thet merely believed to be true. That is too common. Facing torture and death, had they known His resurrection was a fable, if they had any doubts, they would have confessed. No, rather they faced torture and death because they could not deny the TRUTH, that JESUS IS RISEN, INDEED! They did not die for what they believed true, they died for what they could not deny. TRUTH INCARNATE ETERNAL! AMEN! MARANATHAJ

Only the Lord, Jesus Christ, and the US military forces are offering to sacrifice their lives for our liberty and freedom to freely practice our religion openly and unashamedly.
Thanks be to God for their sacrifice, let it not be in vain. Amen.

I really enjoyed the special edition! Thanks.
I very much appreciate the information I get from the Post, but it is often at the expense of having to wade through much sarcasm, disrespect, and condescension. This edition was a delightful exception.
I know it is difficult business challenging the insidious power mongering, defamations and duplicity of the Left, but with the Truth on our side, it should not be such a stretch to do so with wisdom, humility and compassion. Little feeds the enemy's cause more than arrogance and condescension in those who boast of moral superiority.
I'd like to suggest that, in future editions of the Post, the editorials and comments offered by the editors reflect the humility and compassion appropriate to disciples of Jesus Christ. I think such a disposition would do as much, or more, to encourage our cause than the most clever and powerful arguments.

It doesn't matter whether you believe it or not. Your position on GOD's statements is irrelevant. Christians must realize that Truth is not a thing to be found; rather it is a person namely Jesus the Christ (John 14:6).

To ezra and Lee from Texas, you are so right. One of the many things that makes the US so exceptional is our protection of the right to worship, or not, as one chooses. As an atheist, this is a liberty I truly cherish and defend to the best of my ability. In much of the world, and through most of human history, those with "dissenting" beliefs were persecuted, imprisoned, tortured, or killed. As with freedom of speech, our protections of freedom of worship have their greatest value, not for those with the popular or prevalent beliefs, but for those who hold unpopular beliefs. Its easy for those with the popular beliefs (in this case Christianity) to lose sight of the fact that there are many in the US who do not share those beliefs. We are not any less patriotic, any less American, or any less worthy of the constitutional protection of our rights and liberties. I hope everyone of all beliefs enjoys their Easter and their freedom to celebrate or not celebrate the day according to their beliefs. Marc

Your right again President Reagan. I've been reading Ronnie's Diary, a very large read. Obama speaks of transparency, President Reagan lived it. Obama you are in fact transparent after two years we can see right through you. But when you read President Reagan's diary you will see something else and that is his insightful vision of the world and its leaders, much of what he said is unfolding. Msybe a little clairvoyance here. What a stark difference between Reagan and Obama.

In our nations history many heroes went down to suffering and death because of what occurred over two thousand years on "Good Friday". They did this for their belief in freedom granted them by our Almighty Creator. They were shown this by God Himself dying on a Dogwood cross.
We still see this today and it is being done in this same fashion. If Washington DC would recognize this maybe our nation could heal. I pray that this becomes so. God does not suffer fools lightly and neither shoud we.

JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT OVER EASTER WEEKEND...
I happened to be born in May 1948 and as such am very aware of the time (63 yrs) that Israel has existed as a country. I also know that 70 years is the lifespan we were granted and that the difference in these two numbers is 7 years. Now if numbers mean anything to you you can begin to see some of the possibilities. Also Israel's birthdate is May 15, 1948 and the USA's is July 4, 1776 and that is exactly 50 days difference and fifty is a very interesting number in Jewish history.

Mr Alexander, my hat is off to you. This was both eloquent and inspiring.
I especially like the enormously appropriate - and far-more accurate - Resurrection Day. It follows the tradition of reclaiming our holy days from the secular system that would subvert all that is sacred and precious. Yes, I consider Independence Day a holy day, too - in light of the foundation statement of today's edition, I can think of it no other way.

The comments by Dr. Michael is all New Age propaganda by such writers as Barbara Hubbard, and others who are saying that the Bible is obsolete and that we should embrace the "new Gospel " that we are all gods, that we are not sinners... All of this is explained in the very excellent book by Warren Smith "False Christs Coming... Does anyone care?" and "The Light That was Dark".... All exposing the New Age gospel and warning us to know the Scriptures to discern this darkness.

I agree with Craig's point and believe the opinions I have presented are very consistent with what he stated. Specifically, I weigh in to The Patriot Post when it is implied, or stated outright, that American patriotism and religiosity, or more specifically, Christian religiosity, are one and the same or that religiosity is a prerequisite for American patriotism. On this Sabbath Day, let us recall how Christ's body rested in the tomb; even in death, Jesus lays out a model of God's redemptive love. Just as all of Israel was resting on this special Passover Sabbath, the body of Jesus rested from its labor in its tomb. The Sabbath was a continual reminder to Israel of the special rest we need to take: Just as God created all things in six days and took rest on the seventh Day, so we take rest from our work. On this day we focus on the work of God -- and the Word of God that brings rest to our soul. Remember Jesus, who labored to speak of the Kingdom of God in his ministry and remember Jesus, who made all things complete with his death upon the cross. Recall Jesus' proclamation from the cross, "It is finished!"
His work completed, the body of Christ was laid in the tomb and rested on that Sabbath Day, awaiting the dawn of a new day, "the Lord's Day," where our Resurrected Life in Christ continues to be celebrated and proclaimed.
Jesus invites us, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." And so we recall that Christ Jesus is our now our Sabbath Rest.
On this Sabbath day, consider how Christ, by his rest in the tomb, has also made holy our own graves. His resurrection brings to mind the prophecy: "I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done." Blessed are those who die in the Lord...they shall rest from their labors.
Blessed Vigil of our Lord, to all!
PS-- RE the Rev Michael, "D.D.," who offered his gnostic New Age message "from Jesus," Here is what Christ REALLY says, as I paraphrase the Gospels, "In latter times many will claim to be the Christ or speak in my name. Do not be confused. Stay the course of the faith; he who remains true to the end will be saved." By the faithful witness of those who have refuted "Rev Michael," Jesus' own words remain true: My sheep know my voice...they come when I call. They will run from the voice of a stranger. As another replied: Semper fi!

There are many 'religions'in the world. All, of each, believe themselves anointed and correct. Of all those beliefs (religions)only one has released, freed, the People to prosper, to lead, to accede. This we name Christianity--the belief in a Divine that influences and thus directs our lives. All the others oppress the people. All of them. Does this explain the persistent attack on those that believe in a Risen Christ?
The constant execution of those that profess to be Christians? The battle is age old---before, and after the exposition of Him, as the Saviour of mankind.
Now the enemy of Christ, and Christianity, is seated at the head of government. The Devil? You decide.
The Founders are devout believers in the Risen Christ, and created a utopia, hard won, for those that concurred. The assault on those that believe, and act, in the concepts of Christ, has never ceased. It does seem that the assailants are succeeding, and we may soon see early Rome replayed here, on these shores of this Republic.
How is that the appeal of one, such as Jeremiah Wright, "God, damn the United States." appears to have a positive response? While those that ask for the blessing on this Republic does not? Thank you Mark Alexander, for another wonderful post.

Reading through all these comments, (it took awhile!) was mostly edifying and rewarding. Reading the strong words from faithful Christians was reassuring. It's true we are living in dangerous times, and Satan is busy undermining many peoples' faith, but God is faithful, and He hears our prayers. If ONLY, they could get past their educated, intellectual ideas, and see the REAL story of the resurrection, life on Earth would be again, the garden of Eden.

Let us close out our Resurrection Day in the Word:
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Your attitude should be the same as
that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God
something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Soli Deo Gloria

Thank you for posting this wonderful post on this Easter day. Christ Jesus truly is the God of Israel, God of Abraham, God of the universe! Praise the Lord that he died for me and rose again!
I celebrate his coming again. "...even so Lord, come quickly."

Dear Editors,
Now, the day after, I feel compelled to further comment on the display of religious fervor presented on your site yesterday. This is totally off-message and out-of-place on a site about American patriotism. This posting was analogous to having a guest physicist write a lengthy piece about some detailed theory of quantum physics. It may be interesting to some of your readers, boring to many. It is certainly your right to publish an article on quantum physics, and the theories may be valid and defensible. But, it would be way off-message. Likewise, your lengthy preaching and testifying, and the responding chorus of Hallelujahs and Amens is nice, but would be better suited for one of the many thousands of Christian websites and blogs, not on The Patriot Post. The more you stray from American patriotism, the more you dilute your message for all readers, particularly those who don't share your religious beliefs or fervor.

@ Marc
Marc, I believe the Founders would have been 'reassured' by Alexander's article...and comfortable with the comments expressed.

I am a Jewish Patriot It is very heartwarming indeed to see so many of my fellow Patriots wishing peace to each other and to the world. I hope all of your prayers are answered and wish to thank all of you for defending a country that believes in religious freedom while staying devout to your own.

Thank you for remembering a most holy feast day. Our Lord founded His Church not only on "the rock," St. Peter, but by his suffering, death, and resurrection.
May God reward you in your work, and may His holy angels watch over and protect this great country of ours.

Poor Marc..be blessed! The Resurrection Day posting was a pause in our days to remind us that this is not all there is..Praise God! The Founders acknowledged God and His guiding hand on this nation every step of the way...We, too, honor His holy name on this most Holy of Christian Days. The site where the message is displayed is not the importance - it is the message of hope! I fear your intellect interferes with your faith...It is possible to have both. Peace.

Thanks you for such a lovely Easter message. The scripture was magnificent, as God's word always is and the quotes were very thought provoking and sincere. I hope you all had a Blessed Easter. Christ is risen, He is risen indeed, Alleluia and Amen.

Thank you! This reminder of our religious heritage was a necessary reminder to all citizens of all faiths. People need learn what is actually their history, and not insist upon re-writing it the way they would like to read it.

Teresa +JMJ+ F.Y.I. The Holy Christan Church Is (Was) Not Founded On Any Man (Mortal) But On The Compleet ROCK SOLID Foundation, That Was Peter's Confession, & Then What Did JESUS Tell Him? That Indeed, It Was HIS FATHER In HEAVEN, Who Revealed This To Him, Just As HE Continues To Do For ALL Belivers To This Very Day & Until HE Again Returns. May The PEACE OF CHRIST Be With US ALL! R.J.
