"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt." --Thomas Jefferson
Editorial Exegesis

"How credible is President Obama on taxes and spending? ... [O]bama's smug White House chief of staff, Jack Lew ... went on two different Sunday news shows to talk up the president's new budget. Twice he claimed Senate Democrats haven't passed a budget in more than 1,000 days because 'you can't pass a budget in the Senate of the United States without 60 votes and you can't get 60 votes without bipartisan support....' In fact, Senate rules only require a simple majority of 51 votes to approve a budget. But wait, there's more to the Obama record of double-talk and misrepresentation about federal taxes and spending. Take his claim that his budget cuts the deficit by $4 trillion over 10 years. Nothing could be further from the truth. The reality is that most of Obama's deficit 'savings' come either from spending cuts already enshrined in law or money that was never requested for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The bottom line: Over the next decade, Obama's budget raises taxes by $1.9 trillion, raises spending $2.7 trillion, and increases the debt $3.6 trillion. ... Less than a month after Obama was sworn into office, he hosted a 'fiscal responsibility' summit at the White House where he pledged 'to cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office.' ... Obama's $757 billion economic stimulus program failed to get the economy growing again. His Obamacare is driving health care costs ever higher, even before it is fully implemented. And he just 'doubled down' on throwing more tax dollars at failed green energy efforts like the Solyndra bankruptcy. The result? Now Obama asks Americans to accept a $1.33 trillion deficit in 2012 and deficits every year for the next decade averaging $1.4 trillion. What this country needs is an honest leader who will tell the truth about our entitlement spending crisis and identify real reforms." --The Washington Examiner
Is there any hope for our fiscal future?

"Legend has it that prior to embarking on his mission to conquer the known world, Alexander the Great, who had not yet established his greatness, visited the oracle at Delphi seeking a good omen. ... When he finally found her, he forced her to accompany him to the temple. Upon arriving at the temple, in his eagerness to receive the oracle, he was literally shoving her down the ramp toward the crypt when she turned abruptly toward him and exclaimed, 'Boy, there's no resisting you.' With that, Alexander took his hands off her, stepped back and said, with great satisfaction, 'That's the only oracle I wanted to hear.' This is precisely the attitude that possesses President Obama." --columnist David Limbaugh
"The federal debt has increased by $4.47 trillion since President Barack Obama released his first federal budget on Feb. 26, 2009. That budget was entitled, 'A New Era of Responsibility.' On Feb. 26, 2009, as Obama released his budget for fiscal 2010, the national debt stood at $10.88 trillion.... At the close of business on Feb. 9, 2012, the national debt stood at $15.36 trillion.... The $4.47-trillion increase in the debt since Obama released his first budget is more than the national debt increased from President George Washington through President George H. W. Bush." --columnist Terence Jeffrey
"Over the weekend it was revealed that MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, the chief architect of ObamaCare, backtracked on the analysis he performed two years ago. He told officials in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Colorado the price of insurance premiums will 'dramatically increase' under the reforms. ... How far we have come since that day in 2009 when the president also said that 'the Congressional Budget Office ... says that as a consequence of this act, the deficit is going to be over a trillion dollars lower over the course of the next two decades than it would be if this wasn't passed.' ... Yet it is quite understandable why so many progressives, whose ideology is based on the the triumph of hope over experience, cannot understand the growing unaffordability of the misnamed Affordable Care Act. Chances are, they never will." --columnist Arnold Ahlert
"The Obama administration's ham-fisted attempt to require that contraceptives and abortifacients be offered to employees of Catholic and other religious institutions is a serious threat to our civil liberties. ... This issue was always about more than contraceptives and who pays for them. It is about individual liberty and whether the government under 'Obamacare' has the constitutional right to dictate to private businesses and church-related entities when such orders violate conscience and religious beliefs. ... If the administration can get away with this, there will be no stopping it." --columnist Cal Thomas
"Obama did not make a mistake in this mandate. It's a deliberately calculated move on his part. The Democrats realize that abortion is no longer a winner for them. ... So what they're trying to do now is replace it with contraception. ... [I]t's no coincidence, that he came out with it after Minnesota and Colorado which [were] Santorum's victories. They want to create the impression that the Republicans will ban contraception, which is totally insane, but they're floating it out and they're bringing it out there." --columnist Dick Morris

"Well, it's fine for candidates to run their campaigns on a high plane, but it would be like me wanting to conduct this column on a strictly grammatical basis. I would like to, but I just ain't equipped for it, and that's the way they are. With politicians as the tools, you just ain't equipped to conduct anything on a high plane." --American humorist Will Rogers (1879-1935)

The Demo-gogues
Twisted logic: "Right now, we're scheduled to spend more than $1 trillion more on what was intended to be a temporary tax cut for the wealthiest two percent of Americans. We've already spent about that much. Now we're expected to spend another $1 trillion." --Barack Obama, who thinks that letting people keep their own money is a form of government spending
We don't need no budget: "The budget does one thing and really only one thing: It sets the parameters of spending and discretionary caps. Other than that, the Appropriations Committee [is] not bound by the Budget Committee's priorities.The fact is, you don't need a budget. We can adopt appropriations bills." --House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD)
Blame Bush: "[I]f you look back at what their estimates were in terms of how many jobs had been lost, how bad the economy had contracted when I took office, everybody underestimated it. People thought that the economy contracted 3 percent -- it turns out it contracted close to 9 percent. ... So, the die had been cast but a lot of us didn't understand at that point how bad it was gonna get. That increases the deficit because less tax revenues come in and it means that more people are getting unemployment insurance, we're helping states more so they don't lay off teachers, etc. The key though is we're setting ourselves on a path where we can get our debt under control." --Barack Obama
Blame Congress: "We've used the Internet more effectively to create more transparency so people know where their tax dollars are going. If they need a government service they don't have to navigate through 50 websites, they can go to one website. So on those fronts we've done a lot -- we've made a lot of progress. Where I have not been able to succeed so far -- but I haven't given up -- is changing the tone in Congress." --Barack Obama
Stamping out religious liberty: "The vast majority of Catholic women are on birth control, support birth control and think it should be part of their health care plan. So, it just seems striking to me that someone would say this is a risky decision because it's the right thing to do and it's mainstream." --Rep. Michael Quigley (D-IL)
Hyperbole: "In 2012, I stand here in complete amazement that in a country known for its medical breakthroughs and advancements, Republicans would have us go back to the medical dark ages." --Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA)
Dezinformatsia
Some question: "[I]n a sense you feel that some part of this Republican opposition to an additional stimulus is just cynical. They want the economy to stay weak in an election year." --CNN's Fareed Zakaria to billionaire leftist financier George Soros
Lost in translation: "If you listen carefully to Rick Santorum, he sounds more like [Soviet dictator Joseph] Stalin than Pope Innocent III." --MSNBC's Martin Bashir
Championing abortion: "The thinking inside the Beltway seems to be that religious voters will turn against Democrats unless the White House drops the basic idea that insurance should cover contraception. Time will tell on the political impact of this fight, but the relevant political context here is more than just a 2012 measure of Catholic bishops' influence on moral issues. It's also this year's mainstream Republican embrace of an antiabortion movement that no longer just marches on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade to criminalize abortion; it now marches on the anniversary of Griswold v. Connecticut, holding signs that say 'The Pill Kills.'" --MSNBC's Rachel Maddow
Feminism challenged: "I very rarely take a political position because I work for ABC News. ... [T]here was a time when feminists made the woman who stayed home and had children feel inferior. I think we are finally changing so that we realize younger ones, you can make a choice." --Barbara Walters of "The View"

The BIG Lie: "You can't pass a budget in the Senate of the United States without 60 votes and you can't get 60 votes without bipartisan support. So ... unless Republicans are willing to work with Democrats in the Senate, [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid is not going to be able to get a budget passed." --White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew
Shut up, he explained: "The American people should be pleased that we now have a recovery that's taking root. The job growth is across all the sectors of the economy -- it's not the result of people leaving the workforce, it's the result of private sector job creation. This is good." --Jack Lew
More redistribution: "[A]s we have the Buffett Rule and the individual tax reform, we need a global minimum tax so that people have the assurance that nobody is escaping doing their fair share as part of a race to the bottom or having our tax code actually subsidized and facilitate people moving their funds to tax havens." --White House economic adviser Gene Sperling
"The president's vision for fulfilling the moral obligation to tackle the debt is contained within the budget he presented [this week]. He certainly did not mean last summer that we should contract spending in a way that threw the very fragile recovery at that point into reverse and caused further job loss and inflicted further economic pain on the American people." --White House Press Secretary Jay Carney
Utilitarian argument: "Any morally acceptable pathway to prevent catastrophic global warming includes broad access to affordable birth control for the world's women. ... Researchers have found that empowering women to reduce unplanned pregnancies is one of the most cost-effective ways to combat greenhouse pollution.... The more world leaders focus on giving women and girls the tools of empowerment -- access to family planning, education, and the political and economic system -- the better future all of us will have." --ThinkProgress's Brad Johnson

A true representative title for the budget would be; "The Continued Cloward Piven Spending Program to Destroy the American Economy, and Generate the Necessary Crisis To Achieve a Marxist Statist Government". Chairman Obamao is meeting with the next presumed Communist Chinese leader, most likely discussing their plans to rule the world in a Marxist Statist Utopia. If remains to be seen if we can make it to November. Might start a pool to predict the month and day of total collapse, that will genrate martial law and a cessation of elections. Maybe the entry fee should be ammuniton, must think of an appropriate calibur....

Yes, there is hope. But, that hope is a small light at the end of a far-away tunnel called super-majority, Tea-Party Republican control of both houses. If this can happen, then the current president can demand, stomp his feet and pout all he wants. The adults will control the purse strings. We've got to put the adults back in charge in Washington!

The Tea Party influence has made a moderate improvement among Republicans, but the establishment has not changed. Without a continuation on the republican side AND a similar change on the Democrat side of the aisle, I do not believe there is hope for financial sanity. Democrats refuse to hold their party accountable at all, and like alcoholic enablers, refuse to even admit that their elected officials are addicted to spending.

Deficit and debt is a two edged sword. Our politicians treat them as though they are one and the same. Debt is what we owe and deficit is what we are adding to that debt. We cannot address the debt without eliminating, yes, eliminating, the deficit and few if any of the politicians in Washington seem to realize or acknowledge this. Their claims to reduce the deficit only reduced the rate in the growth of the debt. Eventually the debt will be come unserviceable and at that time, which is approaching rapidly, all hell will break loose and we will look back at the opportunities we had to address it with longing.

Our only hope to get out of this fiscal mess is to NOT re-elect Obama. Unfortunately, the "takers" are getting close to 50% of the people voting. Amereica is dysfunctional. As a nation we are not working because we have abandoned our core principles. The entitlement mentality will be our final undoing."With shekles come shackles". I believe it is up to the individual to look out after themselves,family and neighbors. Sorry to seem so negative, but at this late date it is reality. The prophets among us have warned us for years and basically they have been ignored, minimized and laughed at. Circle the wagons and stock up on beans and bullets. Question: Is there any hope for our fiscal future?
There is a solution which will produce immediate results but will be a painful transition for the millions of people in America who believe they DESERVE to be supported by the federal government at the expense of hard working American tax payers.
Our fiscal future will improve significantly if specific responsibilities / requirements / restrictions are placed on hand out programs that have and continue to be put in place by Washington politicians. The continued programs implemented by liberal politicians to purchase votes has got to stop. America can't continue to shoulder the financial burden of supporting the millions of freeloaders living in this country. This does not imply an unwillingness to help those in need but if help is needed certain responsibilities should be required /expected from those seeking help.
A few examples;
1. Proof of citizenship.
2. Drug tested while receiving federal help
3. One can't vote while receiving federal help
4. A requirement of receiving federal help, one has to participate in a training / reeducation program readying oneself for employment.
5. Refusal to seek / accept employment eliminates support.
6. A criminal act / felony immediately eliminates existing & future financial support.
In addition to improving Americas financial situation it will improve the lives of those who are trained and employed.

More baloney. During the Bush administration, I wanted to check the frequency assignments of some broadcast TV stations on fcc.gov. I found my answer in several clicks. After Mr. Obama took over and the ATSC (high definition) format was made mandatory, I tried to find information on frequencies and channel designations for HDTV stations. I never did find it. The FCC site had lost its simplicity; the Obama version was very poorly organized, and the search function returned a large number of irrelevant results. It could be a metaphor for Obama's policies.

Frankly, no, there is no hope for our fiscal future. If a leader like Reagan could only hiss, spit, and rail against entitlements and out-of-control spending, what chance does the current crop of pretenders have? Add to that the Democratic Party actually cultivates a constituency on the perpetual dole, that only a bare majority of us pay any income taxes, and it ensures any attempt at reform will fail. So, two things will happen. One, riots in the street at any meaningful reform effort, and two, eventual collapse of the economy, be that this year, next year, or 10 years from now. The former is possible, the latter inevitable. The only hope for a return to constitutional government lies in whatever is rebuilt from the ashes. Sorry to sound so grim, but that's the way I read it.

Does anyone believe that any ten year budget plan will be followed? That any "news" agency would report the details of someone's ten year plan with anything but ridicule is very telling. If we are going to choose leaders by which one can tell the biggest lies we should just keep blindly voting Republican or Democrat.
Maybe Republicans will wake up and start voting for whichever candidate has enough money to destroy the other candidates, regardless of fiscal policy. Vote for the one with the biggest Death Star!!

As a footnote to my first post on our fiscal future I think it would be appropriate to rename Obamacare, or the "Affordable Healthcare Act", to the "Unaffordable

I think it is obvious to anyone with half a brain that they lied to us about the costs/what was in the bill when it was passed along strictly partisan lines/votes!! PE

Is there any hope for our fiscal future?
To Hell with our fiscal future. Is there any hope for the future of the United States?
I have news for all of you. Barack Obama is going to be re-elected. (1) Too many people in this country depend on government largesse for their living. Barry will just buy their votes by promising them more lucre (this includes more than a few crony capitalists and campaign donors, lest you think I'm only beating up on the poor, downtrodden, and indolent). (2) Republicans are running a field of candidates who can not beat Obama. They are not impassioned speakers and none of them ignite any kind of excitement in the base, let alone the swing voters. They are dull and boring because they are not campaigning for anything, but rather against something (and it is not Barack Obama at this point, but each other). (3) Any anti-Obama message is going to be filtered through the Main Stream Media. Anyone speaking ill of the "One" will be vilified and the message will be nullified. (4) Anywhere the vote is close, the Democrats will steal the election through shady recounts (à la Minnesota). I'm sure in several jurisdictions, enough dead people will vote for Obama so his victory will be assured. (5) More and more Americans are unable to distinguish between campaign rhetoric and the Truth due to a lack of critical thinking skills. This problem will only worsen as old folks like me die and our younger, under-educated (but brilliantly propagandized) citizens attain voting age.
We need to stop thinking in terms of Republican and Democrat, Liberal and Conservative, and start thinking like Americans. I suggest to everyone that you read the Declaration of Independence over the next couple of days. I'm a veteran and I've invested some blood, sweat, and tears in this nation, unlike Barack Obama and his minions. Are any of you willing to let Obama's collection of cowards and traitors deprive your children and grandchildren of their birthright?

Is there any hope for our fiscal future? Not as long as Obama remains in office! He hates the constraints placed by the Constitution and tries to get around the rule of law whenever he can. The courts are full of jurists who think the same way he does. We need independent news outlets who actually investigate and report the truth. I can deal with the truth and make personal adjustments. What can you do with lies and half truths? I don't want to believe that our candidates cannot stand up to Obama and his minions. So, now must be the time to get personally involved and stop writing comments that only like minded patriots read. The general population must hear the truth.

Just one question? If, under Obamacare, the requirements were going to violate the conscience &/or the religious beliefs of the Muslim faith would the Administration's reaction be different? Wait.....because Obamacare, or insurance in general, DOES violate the beliefs of the Muslim faith they are exempt. There seems to be some major inconsistencies in the actions of the current Administration that are being conveniently overlooked by the media. What a shocker!

The only way to start fixing this mess is to STOP SPENDING! The best current example is the Highway Trust Fund bill before the House/Senate. It should absolutely not be for more than is expected to come in from gasoline taxes, etc. But, (I guess I don't understand) the House/Senate are proposing spending more than is coming in. The USA is broke--it should be spending less than it takes in. How in the world is ~$2.7 trillion not enough!

Any hope for our fiscal future?
No. Our linear thinking is to blame. We think only of reducing spending, reducing taxes, reducing government authorities and responsibilities. We fail to recognize the fiscal systems operate within a vastly complex and dynamic culture of systems that rewards corruption and greed, does not value conscience or honor integrity, is void of a sense of culpability, denies or ignores the lessons of history, scoffs at natural consequences and has no concern for our posterity. Our national citizenry sings together: "Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die!" We refuse to consider the future or the legacy we are creating.
We will not fix the economy until we get the national morality settled.
As long as the law:
(1) protects a "right" to sodomy;
(2) protects a "right" to murder of unborn babies;
(3) requires religious institutions either deny their tenets, stop services to the "least-of-these" or go underground and operate illegally;
(4) mandates what its citizens must purchase;
(5) protects non-citizens and grants undocumented persons, including non-citizens, the right-to-vote;
(6) allows half of the citizens to enjoy, tax and cost-free, all of the same rights and privileges as those citizens who earn and pay for those rights and privileges;
(7) provides benefits considered lavish by half the world's population to non-paying citizens;
Moreover, as long as:
(8) the vast majority of education institutions, entertainment and news media continue to report the above conditions are good, fail to report the truth and distort the truth beyond recognition;
(9) the citizenry continue to demand more and more of what their country can do for them, while continuing to insist the so-called "one-percent rich" do more for their country;
(11) fails to protect our sovereign borders from encroachment by any, including criminals;
(12) frisks law-abiding citizens like criminal suspects simply because they wish to employ private transportation systems in the public sector, while deliberately avoiding acknowleding obvious criminal suspect behavior and appearance;
(13) all these and so much more...
... are allowed to continue unabated, our fiscal integrity has no chance.
ZERO, NONE, NADA, ZILCH!
The fiscal crisis is the inevitable consequence and symptom of a crisis of the loss of the sense of individual responsibility and community culpability. This individual crisis is compounded at every community echelon culminating in a loss of a common national moral compass.
Courageous leadership with uncompromising integrity can inspire we fix the individual crises. Then our national moral compass will be found, dusted off, calibrated. Then we will march, unified and strong, in the right direction.
Fix the moral crises first. Ensure a common moral standard. Then, the direction is no longer shrouded in moral fogs. Those nauseating, endless and caustic debates about “how-much-taxes?” and “what to do with the revenues?” disappears. Consensus becomes the norm. Our nation prospers. Our legacy endures through a grateful posterity.
Most importantly, the last and greatest hope of humanity, the equal rights considered self-evident and endowed by no less authority than our Creator: those rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; will be promulgated to the entire anxious world and bequeathed endlessly to happy generations.
This will be our greatest legacy.
History will record this nexus as our greatest success or our greatest failure.
It is our choice.

Re: From the previous Patriot Post
I agree with you regarding the Republican position on abortion, although you probably didn't get much empathy from most Patriot Post readers, if they saw your comment.
To me, it's very difficult to reconcile the evident conflict some Republicans create as they push for lower taxes, less government, free markets, no mandated union membership, etc (all of which equate to freedom), while at the same time insist that women shouldn't have the freedom of choice.
My wife says that this characteristic of the Republican party is the single biggest problem that Republicans have as they try to appeal to voters. She says that if it weren't for the Republican typical resistance to freedom of choice for women, the Democrat party would die off and go away, because the Dems would have no other platform to appeal to voters. I think she's got a good point. The Republicans need to stay out of social issues.
And also, looking at this from the opposite end, the Democrats can't reconcile the evident conflict as they support the freedom of a woman's right to choose, but at the same time, support the removal of everyone's freedoms for just about everything else in life, via government control of everything. As the nation struggles with the biggest dose of poisonous liberalism from Obama and the rest of the Democrats, we can't help but know this is true.
So my friend, what's your choice? Gingrich or Romney, both of which show signs of being closet Liberals, or at least, signs that their conservatism is relative and situational? Or would you choose Obama, from whose policies the nation will experience poverty and destitution, and might even get the genesis of a civil war between the providers and the dependents? Or do you bristle and take a second look at a guy like Santorum, who's against abortion? Let me ask you, what's more important, women's rights to get abortions, which most of them don't get anyway, or the entire populace's right to freedom in every other aspect of our lives?

One facet of "military training" had to do with use of credit,savings, budget, etc. At that time, marriage for an enlisted person was not permitted until income was sufficient to ensure support of a family. That, typically, was about E5, and one needed permission from the "Skipper." Food stamps? Uh uh! Point; a military person was required to understand, and live within, his finances. Fail to pay a bill, and letters soon arrived on the "Skipper's" desk. With immediate results! Perhaps Mr.Obama, never having been in military, missed that part of his education. Supposedly in a college somewhere. Now, as CinC, he fails the entire Republic in his personal enchantment with being "noveau riche". There is another term in the English lexicon that is quite accurate, but not permitted here. This Republic simply cannot afford this dolt! What will it take for the Congress to act, as it should, on behalf of the folks? Seems only federal civilian employees are permitted suspended driver license, tax evasion, special perquisites in lodging, dining, pay, on and on. We are quite close to the situation that fired up the birth of this Republic. A greedy king with absolute power. Which corrupts absolutely!

The Navy guy makes a point; All of us must live within our means. Not doing so has, usually, severe consequences. so how is it our government is not required to "live within it's income"? The country is quickly sinking into insolvency, and the Chief Distributor ( I just read) is giving, excuse me, 800 million to--- whom? Did I read that correctly? Arab Spring Nations? What is that all about? This clown could have given every family in the United States a million dollars, and the cost would have been far less than what he has given to other Nations, many of whom are in opposition to the continuing existence of this Republic!Everyone would have benefited--mortgages paid, business's prosper, on and on. The Only solution I see is removing the unholy triumbrate from office, enforceing the Constitution and creating a budget that does not exceed income.

We didn't get all the problems we have today through the misled actions of the Democrats alone. There is plenty of blame to be shared on both sides of the isle. However, the Liberals are absolute masters at subverting truth and distorting reality whenever it serves their agenda. They are insulting the intelligence of the American people by distorting facts, misleading, and outright lying while attempting to sell their legislation and regulatory efforts. I like what you have said. Solid logic and common sense, pointing out a set of truths that isn't apparent to most. Bitching about the budgetary issues (and we all know they're genuinely problematical and deserving of debate) without addressing our underlying moral depravity, is like complaining about guns and knives without addressing the causes for social crimes.
In fact, much of the purpose for the law is to serve as barricades against immoral behavior. In other words, if moral behavior doesn't act on its own, law gets created to specify how behavior is to occur and establishes punishments for noncompliance with the specifications. Real estate contracts are a good example. Years and years ago, people used to get cheated during property transfers. Then the uniform sales contract was created to specify behavior. Anyway, I digress.
The upshot of all this is that if moral behavior would only occur on its own, then there wouldn't be all this "need" for government intervention.
If we had a fair and moral tax code, there wouldn't be a need for threats from hostile IRS agents. If everyone was paying taxes under an equitable taxation system, there wouldn't be an excuse for greedy, tax-and-spend liberals to demonize those with deeper pockets. And if we had a president with a moral compass who genuinely wants to serve by respectfully following the Constitution, instead of a con-artist wannabe socialist dictator who genuinely wants to subjugate and enslave, our economy would improve and so would our quality of life.
I guess I found my own understanding of your words.

New Democrat codeword -- "Access" as in access to health care,, particlularly "womens healthcare", which they try to disquise as breats exams when what they want is Abortions - but lets start with contraceptives..
And this "Access" does not mean just the ability to walk in the door...it means walk in the door get top notch care and have somebody else pay for it. The rich - those making over ,,say $100,000.
My only solace comes in remembering how Ronald Reagan was able to come in and quickly turn the country around with free markets, and optimism, along with some union busting and beaurocrat reduction. It can and must be done.
No pale pastels - we need bold conservative ideas and leadership. I am watching Santorum closely -- he is not Ronald Reagan but he has the right ideas and they are not just on note cards. It will take more than one man -- and we can use all of our candidates in some manner, as we build the future of America with a drastically smaller and more constitutionaly focused federal government.
The progressive criminal abuse of this country must be stopped. The current Rhinos are not stepping up to fight Obama, so we need more like allen West and Rubio who can and will speak out in plain terms. Obama is a liar and a fraud, supported by a vast criminal democrat enterprise and he must not be re-elected.

@Hamilton: I must disagree with your thesis that Republicans ought to drop the abortion issue. If it is permissible to violate the rights of one person, then the rights of none are safe. In particular, no person may abuse his rights in a manner that he should know could cause the injury or death of another. For example, hunters are prohibited from discharging their firearms within 500 feet of a dwelling.
The Republican Party has recognized that science supports what the Bible teaches: we ourselves, not precursory blobs, were formed in our mothers' wombs. We became distinct individuals when our parents' DNA combined to start our growth. Our hearts began beating only 22 days later, and, if present-day monitoring technology had been available, our brainwaves would have been detectable by the 40th day of gestation. We began learning our mothers' languages at least as early as the fifth month, and we can recognize after birth music that we heard at this time. (You may have been taught in high school biology that the human embryo recapitulates the stages of evolution, from bacteria to fish to lizard, etc. This is a lie, based on a fraudulent paper by Ernst Haeckel in the 19th century. It was thoroughly refuted no later than 1956, but as Mark Twain observed, a lie is the only thing that has more lives than a cat.) The point I'm making is that abortion is an action intended to kill a human being. There is no honest way to sugar-coat that fact - there are only deceitful euphemisms or attempts to change the subject.
The Democrats' philosophy is based on selfishness and covetousness. In keeping with that, the Democrat Party has married itself to the notion that children are a hindrance to personal "fulfillment", and humanity in general is a scourge upon the earth. In their view, abortion is a good thing, because the resources that would have been committed to raising another member of the next generation can be reserved for themselves. That is really what is meant by "the right to choose" - a truly ghoulish assertion. It is no coincidence that over 90% of abortions are for "economic" reasons such as unwillingness to interrupt a career.
The Republican Party, on the other hand, claims to stand for personal responsibility, exercised in a framework of liberty and justice for all, in contrast to the opposing view that personal responsibility is something to avoid. If a woman does not want a child, she has the responsibility to comport herself in a manner not conducive to pregnancy. Just as a driver has a responsibility to operate his vehicle in a manner that will not endanger others, a pregnant mother has a responsibility to act in a manner that will not harm her child. This is nothing unusual; it is not an undue expectation.
Once she begets a child, the time for choosing is past - the child has a right to life that is unalienable. If the pregnancy is forced, the child should not pay for the sin of the father - if anyone is to die, it should be the rapist. The only exception would be the rare and sad case in which attempting to carry the pregnancy will unavoidably end in the death of the mother, or of both. This would be analogous to self-defense.
What are the consequences of the opposite view? It is no coincidence that the Social Security balance began sliding downward two decades after Roe v. Wade. The death of 1/3 of the children in the 1970s and and 1980s distorted the demographic profile of the nation, and the generation that should have been their parents is now reaching retirement age. There are now not enough people in their prime production years to support them. And this is only one consequence of the legalized killing of 53+ million people. The callous, dare I say, sociopathic, attitude that attempts to sell this as "a woman's choice" carries itself over to the willful disregard of all other rights that we have seen in the current occupants of the White House. For if the right to life can be disregarded, so can any other.
In conclusion, the pro-life component of the Republican Party platform is a core expression of conservative philosophy, not an inconvenient adjunct.

Shear numbers tell us Obama cannot be beat...Apathy & coruption confirm it. Only 50 milion or 25% of eligible voters cast a votig ballot and 2 millon of these are dead!!!??? It costs $4.50 to process each vote. In Canada, 93% of the population votes and it costs only 35 cents to process each vote. Why the diff? Canada has digital voting and NO US Congress to deal with. If it were not for these, Obama could not win.
