Good News and Bad News on Energy
The Foundation
"The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse." --James Madison
Editorial Exegesis
Obama's energy policy"Sometimes the revolution politicians seek isn't the one they get. Consider the irony -- and the opportunity -- in Monday's report that the U.S. is likely to surpass Saudi Arabia as the world's largest oil producer as early as 2020. In its annual world energy outlook, the Paris-based International Energy Agency (IEA) says the global energy map 'is being redrawn by the resurgence in oil and gas production in the United States.' The U.S. will increase its production to about 23 million barrels a day in 10 years from about 18 million barrels a day now, the IEA predicts. ... The biggest potential threat may come from federal regulation in Mr. Obama's second term. Though he tried to take credit for the fracking revolution in his second debate with Mitt Romney, his EPA has long wanted to supplant state regulators and will grab any opportunity to do so. Perhaps the election of pro-fracking Democrats like soon-to-be Senator Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota (home to the monster Bakken Shale field) can give the new energy revolution some needed bipartisan buy-in. Historians will one day marvel that so much political and financial capital was invested in a green-energy revolution at the very moment a fossil fuel revolution was aborning. But politicians failing to spot the trend until they start taking credit for it is an old story. Let's hope they don't ruin it now that they've noticed." --The Wall Street Journal

"[T]he key point about Barack Obama is not that he's a secret Muslim Kenyan Commie or whatever. Whether he was born in Honolulu or Mombasa or Stockholm or up on Planet Zongo, what matters ... is that in his general worldview he is entirely typical and perfectly representative of tens upon tens of millions of Americans. Tuesday's majority confirmed that. They don't need a 'conspiracy': They agree with him. That's the problem." --columnist Mark Steyn
"Men and women, whites and Hispanics, the young and the middle-aged: All of them want politicians to offer a practical agenda to create jobs, raise wages, and make health care and higher education more affordable. Most of them aren't wedded to liberal answers on those issues. They will take them over nothing, and that's what Republicans have been giving them." --columnist Ramesh Ponnuru
"We conservatives may never reach a consensus among ourselves as to the main factors that caused our election defeat, but surely we can agree that we must do a better job of selling our ideas." --columnist David Limbaugh
"So the administration would have us believe that only after the election was the president told by the FBI that an investigation with possible national-security implications -- involving no less than the director of the Central Intelligence Agency -- has been going on since the summer. We're also to believe that the director's resignation after the election and before congressional hearings on Benghazi is purely coincidental. Not only that, but when the most powerful man in the world learned of the attack on our consulate in Benghazi, he immediately ordered that everything be done to secure all personnel at the site -- but apparently, everyone ignored him. So he did what any commander in chief would do under such circumstances -- he went to bed. Yes, they really do think we're that stupid." --attorney Peter Kirsanow
"A cover-up in the Obama administration? I know what you are thinking: No way; not the most transparent, patriotic administration ever. It must be an act of the gods or perhaps the Mayan calendar. But really, the recent resignation of General Petraeus from the position of director of the C.I.A. has to be related to Benghazi. Either that or to the Bermuda Triangle. Because here is another remarkable coincidence: Neither the FBI, nor United States Marines are responsible for the security of consulates and embassies. The C.I.A. is tasked with that job. ... Notice how quickly the deputy director who is replacing Petraeus is ready to stand before Congress next week and truthfully testify by saying, 'I don't know, Senator'?" --columnist John Ransom
Essential Liberty
"Quite aside from the immediate effects of particular policies, Barack Obama has repeatedly circumvented the laws, including the Constitution of the United States, in ways and on a scale that pushes this nation in the direction of arbitrary one-man rule. Now that Obama will be in a position to appoint Supreme Court justices who can rubber stamp his evasions of the law and usurpations of power, this country may be unrecognizable in a few years as the America that once led the world in freedom, as well as in many other things. Barack Obama's boast, on the eve of the election of 2008 -- 'We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America' -- can now be carried out, without fear of ever having to face the voters again. This 'transforming' project extends far beyond fundamental internal institutions, or even the polarization and corruption of the people themselves, with goodies handed out in exchange for their surrendering their birthright of freedom." --economist Thomas Sowell
Insight
"The more people chant about their freedom and how free they are, the more loudly I hear their chains rattling." --English novelist George Orwell (1903-1950)
"One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary." --philosopher Ayn Rand (1905-1982)
"Every nation has the government it deserves." --Savoyard philosopher Joseph de Maistre (1753-1821)

Says the guy who spent all the money: "I'm committed to solving our fiscal challenges. But I refuse to accept any approach that isn't balanced. I am not going to ask students and seniors and middle-class families to pay down the entire deficit while people like me, making over $250,000, aren't asked to pay a dime more in taxes. I'm not going to do that." --Barack Obama
"We can't accept an unfair deal that piles on the middle class and tell them they have to support it. We have to make sure that the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share." --Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) promising to pile on the middle class if Republicans won't ascent to raise taxes on the top brackets
Says the guy who doesn't cooperate: "What the American people are looking for is cooperation. They're looking for consensus. They're looking for common sense. Most of all, they want action. I intend to deliver for them in my second term, and I expect to find willing partners in both parties to make that happen." --Barack Obama
Says the guy who left the Americans in Benghazi to die: "We take care of our own. We take care of our veterans. We take care of your families, not just by saluting you on one day, once a year, but by fighting for you and your families every day of every year. That's our obligation, a sacred obligation to all of you." --Barack Obama
Framing the debate exactly backwards: "Republicans face a choice, and the choice is theirs. If they want to drive off the fiscal cliff, that means they want to go into January demanding that people like Mitt Romney get a bonus tax break or nobody gets any tax relief." --Rep. Hot air: "Researchers don't fly off the handle and make dire predictions. In fact they have been underestimating the rate of climate change and global warming ever since it was discovered. And that's odd, because one of the frequent accusations made by climate science deniers is that scientists are too alarmist. If anything, this study and a recent presentation at the annual meeting of Geological Society of America, underscore that a little more Revere-like alarmism may be a really good idea. It's even patriotic." --DiscoveryNews' Larry O'Hanion

The Obama agenda is to break America's back. Central governmental control of everything; work for the government and be regulated by the government; not the other way around. Through the EPA and radical environmentalists, Obama will kill the newborn fracking industry. His people do not want this country to be self-sufficient; they want us back in the dark ages. It is a crying shame that the industrial might which took the United States to a world powerhouse status is being decimated by a bunch of crooks who claim they have our welfare at heart. Liars.

I just listened to Porter Stansberry talk about this. He says there will be a natural gas boom that will bring great prosperity to our country and will propel Obama into a 3rd and possibly 4th term due to the demand of the freeloaders who will be receiving even more stuff. I hope the Benghazi investigation will propel him into impeachment and jail before he gets his hands on the natural gas and oil.

Dr. Furr is a Soviet Holocaust denier. He had to ignore the Nazi-Soviet Pact, the Katyn Forest massacre, the testimony of thousands of survivors of the Gulags (including notably the writer Alexandr Solzhenitsyn), the Ukrainian famine brought about by Soviet confiscation or destruction of their food, and many other well-documented atrocities of the Stalin era. The German populace were terrified of the Soviet Red Army heading westward in the closing days of WWII, not merely because of Hitler's propaganda, but because they had heard of its cruelty from the people the Wehrmacht had overrun when Hitler had sent it eastward. The German military and SS were just as vicious as the Soviets, otherwise they would have had the eager support of the people they conquered against the Communists.

Democrats won big last week. So government will continue to grow. Individual freedom will yield.
I find it incredible that any thinking person will believe that Obama won re-election legally. The administration and the media withheld information from the American people that would have resulted in the Dick Morris prediction of a Romney Landslide victory.
Obama will still have to answer to the Benghazi attack and the following deception. If Obama is prosecuted as Nixon was over Watergate and Obama resigns, Biden will be there to pardon Obama as Ford did for Nixon. Moral of story is Obama will never answer to the High Crimes committed while POTUS.
America did not commit suicide in the 2012 election. Americans were misled by the Obama administration and the main stream media. The assault by an enemy within, on our free market system individual rights and freedom as well as a limited government, was successful because there are too many that have their head in the sand to say it politely when it comes to the reality of the tyranny of the government in power.
Heck there is no help from the Republican representation as, even with a majority in congress, they still rubber stamp unconstitutional actions and spending by the Obama administration. Can anyone say conspiracy?
What happens to those freshman members of congress when they arrive in DC, are they told to play ball or suffer the consequences? If fact are any of us safe from government when they do not respect the Constitution or the real rule of law, not their rule of law where they make the rules up as they go. The rule of law that make everyone follow the same rules.
There is just too much attitude by our elected that reflect the attitude of what Nixon said during Watergate, “When the president does it, it is not illegal.” So when our government does it are they all above the law and the wrath of the American people?

Anton,
While I agree with everything you wrote here, I'll just add that there are a lot of people in America who don't simply have their heads in the sand about government tyranny, as you mentioned. Instead, they don't care about government tyranny because their pocketbooks and stomachs are empty or nearly empty. Many households are bankrupt or teetering on insolvency. Freedom means nothing to them while they're in the gutter. I'm not playing the violins for you. This is just the grim reality of America's path to destruction that Obama is bringing to a climax. This destruction will be his legacy. In my opinion, this destruction is by design. It is a hallmark characteristic of statism. Obama is not an over-his-head buffoon as some think. He's a master statist following in the footsteps of the likes of Lenin and Hitler, though our circumstances and his methodology are different, and thus, his destruction doesn't present in the same way.
As you may have read in this P.P issue, Mark Steyn said that the problem is that people agree with Obama's general world view. While I think he's correct, it's only because of their circumstances, and Steyn didn't answer the question - why? The answer is simple. People are looking at the continued erosion of their life style and destruction of their families, all due to longstanding liberal government policies that have grown government at the expense of the private sector, while Obama and the Democrats entice them with entitlement after entitlement. Which would you choose, handouts or your soul?
We, in our generation, are finally feeling the result of the degradation of the private sector, caused by some fateful day in the past when someone in a past congress got the first government entitlement program passed, and then patted himself on the back for his beneficence. That ugly precedent set the stage for government growth, high taxes, income and wealth redistribution, government dependency, and the 47%.
And by the way, back in 1969/1970, the 47% was 12%.

I agree with both of you. What I do not agree with, is there was a conspiracy to but the election for we can go down that road with G.W.B. What we need to do and I tried to show for a long time is what does the other side think of us? why are they winning? If you want an insiders view on how they think and why they won , well I along with a few others are hear, if not, then Patriot Post will become a sounding board everyone will use to make themselves feel better. the upside is it promotes unity, the down side is we will still loose for we have no clue what they are going to do or why. We cannot become liars, cheats and thieves, for then we sacrifice the very character for which we are struggling. The colors of the American flag, red, white and blue, were meant to signify bravery, purity and integrity. These are virtues rarely mentioned in public discourse in these days.
Where is the bravery in taking a government handout instead of seeking to provide for yourself when times are hard? Where is the purity in voting for a free phone at the expense of your neighbors who pay an extra tax on their phone bills? Where is the integrity in tolerating obvious lies. vote fraud and brazen flouting of the Constitution on behalf of His Imperial Majesty, Barack I, in a nation that is supposed to have no King or Emperor except Jesus?
Know your enemy, yes, we must. But we cannot become like our enemy, nor is it necessary to do so to defeat him. This is a battle for the heart and soul of America. We have to teach our neighbors to know God, and know that they are accountable to Him for their moral choices, and the range of personal choices with moral implications is far more encompassing than most people realize. Also the people must know the love of God, so they can respect His laws as being formulated with love for them.
Without that foundation, people cannot understand why it is better to nobly work for one's own provenance in freedom rather than basely mooch off of their neighbors by abusing the power of government.
That is a strategy. But what about tactics? We have to counter lies with truth. Not only must we insist on truth, but we must insist that truth exists. For the claim that "There is no absolute truth" cannot be true, for if it is then it is an absolute truth and contradicts itself.

R.K. Sprau,
This is not a sci-fi movie, or a fantasy. This is reality, and none of us conservatives need to become a Liberal in order to understand Liberals.
Liberals are either True Liberals (chicken in every pot, we all look out for one another and government looks out for everyone, what's mine is yours, what's yours is mine, love thy neighbor, love thy enemy, all aggression will cease with just a little understanding, etc), or they're opportunists who label themselves as Liberals and practice statism in order to achieve power. Maybe you could call them Statist Liberals, for lack of a better term. True Liberals are useful idiots for the Statist Liberals. True Liberals are the type who speak gently to psychotic people in order to "understand" them, and then are surprised when the psychotic clobbers them over the head and steals their wallet. And then they go speak gently to another psychotic. Statist Liberals are the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barrack Obama, Hilllary Clinton, etc. Whatever. You shouldn't need any more descriptions. But the important point is that both types of Liberal want big government, for their own reasons.
Obama and his Liberal Democrats won in a bad economy of their own creation, and with the help of a high percentage of outstretched palms on account of the bad economy, and with the promise to be taken care of by government. They won for all the reasons I said above.
The problem for conservatives is to make ourselves appeal to the selfish idiot masses while we steadfastly maintain that for the health of the nation, government needs to shrink and their freebies need to be rescinded. By comparison, Obama gives out free contraceptives, cell phones, and money misappropriated from taxpayers, and whatever else there is and whatever else will come down the pike. Of course, the conservatives are correct, but it's a hard sell to a depraved culture with no honor.

Name one place where fracking (not a surface spill) has damaged the water table. When we frack a Bakken well in North Dakota, the formation being fractured is two miles down. There are two layers of steel casing, both cemented into place between the wellbore and the rock layers outside it from the surface to well below any aquifer anyone drills a water well into (over 2000 ft. down), and casing down to the formation being fracked. The casing is inspected using a casing bond log, and the State inspectors are there to oversee the process. There have been no incidents of contamination of the water table here by fracking, and that's over 6,000 wells. So, pony up a source or pipe down.

I had heard that Heitkamp took campaign money from anti-fracking interests. I would wager that if the Democrats come out against oil production she will vote with the herd. The counties she carried are in the part of the State where there is no oil, and in the west, she lost all but three counties to Berg. I am not optimistic that she will break ranks to vote in favor of oil production, despite the State of North Dakota and the oil industry here having an excellent record.

Don't forget the USSR Military officer purge order by Stalin for NKVD and KGB to execute. Genl Zhukov had his toes flattened and a death sentence over his head ( all the other officers) until Stalin died. Hence the reason for the mass defection of "White" Russians to the Germans. For those that don't know Goethe was a "great" German philosopher, because he could argue any point of view. When he died, everything he said was debunked.

It's going to be interesting to see what Obama and his EPA does about the Bakken. It's big in not only ND, but also northeastern Montana, and Montana and Wyoming have coal coming out our ears. If EPA has its way it'll all be closed down, and that would be fine with Obama IMHO because he wants "green" energy no matter what the cost to the nation and its people.
