The Right Opinion
Muhammad Hates Diversity
This week, in Oakland, Calif., America saw yet another stellar example of the glories of diversity. At a taping of a rap music video in that fair city, eight people, including a one-year-old child, were shot. When a classical music video goes wrong, somebody busts a string. When a rap music video goes wrong, somebody busts a cap.
Such observations, however, are now taboo. We're not supposed to suggest that the rap culture is any different from the classical music culture or that one is better than another. As white guy John Kerry put it, "I think there's a lot of poetry in it. There's a lot of anger, a lot of social energy in it. And I think you'd better listen to it pretty carefully, 'cause it's important ... it's a reflection of the street and it's a reflection of life."
You see, we recognize the value of diversity. And what's more, we think everyone else does, too. Hence the left's certainty that the election of President Barack Obama would win over the Muslim world -- his very ascendance would show the rest of the world that we find their cultures charming, praiseworthy and delightfully fascinating. "It's November 2008," wrote formerly-sane Andrew Sullivan of The Atlantic. "A young Pakistani Muslim is watching television and sees this man -- Barack Hussein Obama -- is the new face of America. In one simple image, America's soft power has been ratcheted up not a notch, but a logarithm."
There's only one problem: The Muslim world isn't hung up on skin color the way we are. Which isn't to say they're not racist -- they're busily snatching up black children for use as slaves or murdering them in Sudan, even as the BBC blithely claims, in the name of diversity, that "While Islamic law does allow slavery under certain conditions, it's almost inconceivable that those conditions could ever occur in today's world, and so slavery is effectively illegal in modern Islam." In point of fact, Muslim countries in Africa and the Middle East lead the world in human trafficking.
The Muslim world just doesn't believe that skin color is all that important. Obama may be half-black, but he's still all-Western, according to them. It doesn't matter whether you're black, white or green -- if you're not a devotee of Muhammad, you don't matter. While the West tries to turn its civilization into cultural variety hour, Islam tries to turn Muslim lands into a cultural monolith. The same West that justifies the rap culture thinks that every Muslim terrorist bombing is an expression of economic angst or social alienation. Muslims recognize that terrorist bombings are expressions of a completely different worldview.
In other words, Muslims aren't stupid. They won't be wooed by a West headed by a man rich in melanin any more than a West headed by a Caucasian dude who enjoys the artistic stylings of Bjork would. When President Obama offers Iran an open hand, they slap it away, even though his hand is a different color than President Bush's was.
And the left is stumped. Obama's entire foreign policy was predicated on the notion that by existing, he would bridge all gaps and bury all hatchets. Instead, the Muslim world burns his picture even as he tells them he respects their radicalism. It turns out that diversity is a one-way street for the devotees of global Islam.
What of the West? We have been enervated by our confident feeling that if we could all just respect each other's cultures -- no matter how perverse -- we could beat missiles into plowshares. And if we could show the rest of the world just how much we respect other cultures by electing an emissary of foreign cultures, they would have to love us. We've turned into the world's Sally Field: "You like us! You really like us!" To which the Muslim world says, "No. We really don't."
But, like an obsessive, abused ex-girlfriend, we keep coming back for more. We beg for the beating. We plead for it. We are Keira Knightley's character in "A Dangerous Method" -- the beating excites us. For with every beating, we feel the open hand we seek. "At least they're reaching out to us ... with bombs! If we could only understand this unique form of communication, we'd finally be able to come to some sort of agreement!"
The Muslim world understands that it has us by the ideological throat. They will continue to preach the value of diversity from their outposts in the West, while wiping away any semblance of it across their own lands. And we will buy into it. This is how the West dies: not by being defeated in all-out civilizational battle, but by walking into the hail of bullets, arms outstretched.

If the liberal statists have their way, we will walk into the valley of death with open arms and a smile on our faces. Not on my watch, I am fully armed and able to face the islamic hordes should they seek their "perfect day" of uprising. Those stubborn things, facts, are elusive to the marxist statist left, while they feel so good exstending the olive branch and sing kumbaya to the jihadists burning the other end of the branch. Outlaw Islam in America, stop tollerating the political system hell bent on our destruction and world domination. Islam only understands POWER. Black Jack Pershing did too, and was successful.

I, too, would favor the "Pershing Doctrine" regarding Islamists. Islam is nothing other than a terminal cancer eating away at the U.S. and the rest of the civilized world.

The first thing we need to understand is that Islam’s current religious leaders are no different than the Catholic Bishops during the Inquisition. With much of the same rules applying, only one language is approved version of the "sacred book", any opposition is blasphemy, unauthorized versions of the book and blasphemers are to be burned. No schools are allowed as people might start thinking for themselves and find out what the book really says. Once we accept that, then we can understand the true evil tyranny we are dealing with.

Bruce -- the first thing you need to understand is that the Inquisition did not encourage bombing innocents in the name of God.

It not only encouraged, it conducted the leveling of entire towns to include women and children. Where exactly do you think "Kill them all and let God sort them out" came from. I stand by any and all reverences said and unsaid concerning the Inquisition. Read your History Chris.

What Bruce also fails to understand, or perhaps chooses to ignore, is the fact that Christians have chosen in this day and age to embrace the teaching of Jesus to love thy neighbor. There are sects who do not abide by that. However; those such as Westboro Baptist church are not actually Christian. They are instead a cult and should in no way be representative of the overwhelming majority of Christians. I, as a born again Christian, try to lead by example. I do not force my beliefs on anyone, muslim or otherwise. Eqating the Catholic Bishops of the Inquisition era with today`s Muslims is dishonest to say the least. Bruce is correct.Chris is correct about one thing though: the medieval Catholic church "did not encourage bombing innocents in the name of God." The didn't have bombs - they burned them alive instead.Me, I'll take a quick bomb over a slow fire any day. Better yet, I'll just shoot the b@$$+@rds who try to do either one.The phrase "Kill them all, let God sort them out," is a loose translation of "Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius," which was the justification for slaughtering 20,000 people whose only crime was that they lived in Beziers, which had a high concentration of Cathars.

Bruce,If you beleive that Islam is a religion versus a politial system with the goal of world domination, you need to get some synapses straightend out! Islam is at war with Christianity and ANYTHING ELSE NON-ISLAM. They seek to overthrow, kill, anihilate, murder, and subjugate the WORLD! It is our own undoing in this country to allow Enemies of the State to exist and plan our destruction in our own back yard. There are no moderate muslims, only jihadist enablers. The Queeran reads it ok to lie you any infidel (civilized christian or non Islam person). YOU TOLERATE ISLAM AT YOUR OWN PERIL.

If you read what I actually said I was making a parallel between the Medieval Church and current day Islam. I do not condone either as both are terrible and inexcusable. If you can't see that you are part of the group of people I was addressing. Regretfully Religion is too often used to control the people in what can be described as the worst form of Tyranny. I don't want to tolerate Islam any more than any Religion especially Christian that controls the people with an "iron fist". I find it against the will of God for his creation to subjugate others of his creation, especially when God Himself gave his creation true Liberty.

Bruce and Army OfficerUsually I respond to the author of the column but you both are as good as the author (no offense Ben, the article was great) but it is good to see others recognize parallels and not flinch from noting them. The only crimes worse than madmen such as Hitler and Stalin have perpetrated on humanity were those done in the name of a God that somehow could not tolerate dissent. Does that make religion wrong? No, I myself am a conservative Christian: I also realize how dangerous fanatics who believe killing others is divinely sanctioned truly are. There is literally no way on this earth to change their mind, and they will kill anyone who tries. Yes, the Inquisition and the current Jihad (along with all the past ones) are all equally abhorrent and morally indefensible. If we do not learn from our history, we will repeat it. The 11th century Islamic Jihad did not end because the Caliphate decided to like Christians; it ended because they were defeated by a superior force (among other reasons.) I will not kill in the name of my God, as Jihadists do, but I will lay down my life to defend my wife, children and country against those who would destroy our freedom and Christianity. This is not hypocritical, as everybody can believe as they want to, but when war comes to you, it is a man's duty to protect what he loves, including his religious liberty. If Obama and the multi-culturalists had not shown us as weak in spirit and leadership, this would not be happening, as the Arabic world respects little else than force. True liberty requires opposition to any form of tyranny, but particularly religious oppression, because man is no longer, if his soul is not free.

Now we choose to blame ourselves? Sounds like a liberal in the lot stirring the pot.Anyone who starts talking about the Catholic Church and the inquistion when the topic is the most evil group the planet earth has ever known is either a closet liberal or a closet Islamic. If your family was murdered, and the murderer was on the loose, would you want the conversation and the police attention turned to little Johnny, one of our own who broke a window.Islam is coming at us with one intent, conquer, submit and ensalve. Comparing our ancient past to their forever ongoing history is both comparing a pimple to a cancer, and an embracement of ostrich policy. Only a coward embraces ostrich policy, and all cowards are liberals or closet liberals. If you suffer from a cowardice complex, do the work to mature beyond it, or just stay out of the fray. They will enslave you just as quick as everyone else.It is our duty and responsibility to protect ours and ourselves from the insane tyranny of Islam coming at us with intent to conquer, submit and enslave. Thank you.

Such flowing words that are totally wrong PDK, the reason one brings up the past is so as not to repeat it. Funny you mention ostrich policy when you are the one propagating it. What I'm saying is that if Islam is allowed to grow it will become as bad or worse that what happened during the Inquisition, they are proving that now. To answer wjmc ALL Religions are "body politic".
