The Right Opinion
Exploiting the Colorado Theater Massacre
The hate-America media unleashes.
It didn't take long. Despite 12 dead and more than 71 injured, reckless media were looking to exploit the rampage perpetrated by alleged killer, James Holmes, as quickly as possible.
ABC News reporter Brian Ross led the despicable charge, immediately attempting to politicize the issue. "There's a Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado, page on the Colorado Tea Party site as well, talking about him joining the Tea Party last year. Now, we don't know if this is the same Jim Holmes. But it's Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado," Ross irresponsibly told Good Morning America's George Stephanopoulos. Yet within hours, the network was forced to make a retraction. "An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect," ABC News said in a statement. "ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted."
On CNN, criminal profiler Pat Brown theorized that the rampage constituted the "best night" of alleged killer Holmes' life, one for which he had "planned extensively," and that such planning likely involved violent video games. "This has been something he has really been into. And now we're going to find, probably on facebook or anybody who knows him will say, 'Yeah, he did have a lot of interest in that. He was always playing the video games,'" said Brown. "And I'm not saying video games make you a killer. But if you're a psychopath, video games help you get in the mode to do the killing. So it is a problem in our society with teenaged psychopaths, that they do get inspired by this and want to make it real. So it is a danger but it doesn't make you a psycho."
Time Magazine's Michael Grunwald, in a piece titled "The Aurora Shooting: Sometimes There's Nothing Wrong With Politicizing a Tragedy," contends that the "telegenic schoolmarms we call pundits are all denouncing the politicization of the tragedy in Aurora, calling out the crass opportunists who would dare to use human suffering to advance their preferred public policy choices. I feel terrible about what happened in that movie theater, and I'm agnostic about gun control, but there is nothing wrong with politicizing tragedy."
MSNBC used the tragedy to slam the National Rifle Association (NRA), while a blogger at the Daily Kos website blames America in general, contending that real problem "is getting past the mental and emotional resistance of those who continue to believe that we're the best country in the world, the best culture ever produced by human beings, and the best everything else." Film-maker Michael Moore echoed that sentiment, contending that "anthropologists and historians will look back on us and simply say we were a violent nation, at home and abroad, but in due time human decency won out and the violence ceased, but not before many, many more died and the world had had its fill of us."
Several politicians, led by Nanny State NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg, demanded gun law reforms. "We can talk about it on the talk shows, we can wring our hands and say it's terrible. You know, 'I need more guns to protect myself,'" Bloomberg contended. "That strategy doesn't work." Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said Friday's shooting underscores the need for a ban on assault weapons. Yet the Century 16 Movie Theater where Holmes allegedly opened fire does not allow anyone to carry firearms on the premises, including holders of concealed handgun permits. And the Brandy Campaign that has long lobbied for stricter gun control laws, ranks Colorado in the top third of all states in that regard.
Twitter was alive with recklessness. Rush Limbaugh was blamed for the atrocity because he reviewed "The Dark Knight Rises," the movie playing in the theater at the time, and noted that the name of the lead villain, Bane, was a homynym for Mitt Romney's Bain Capital, and that it was no accident. CNN's Piers Morgan tweeted that "America has got to do something about its gun laws. Now is the time." A tweet from Slate contends that no one should blame Dark Knight writer/director Chris Nolan for the tragedy "but we have to ask -- why there?"
Why anywhere? The essence of senseless tragedies such as this one is just that: utter senselessness. And that is exactly why irresponsible speculation, armchair psychology, and attempts to politically exploit them are so despicable. Yet the nonsense continues, led by the Associated Press, which compiled a list -- of more possible parallels between the massacre in Aurora and the Batman comic book character. Perhaps, much like the current bleating for more gun control, such "insight" will lead to calls for more comic book or movie controls as well.

All I ever seem to hear from the left is how this needs to be controlled or that needs to be controlled, but it always effects those that need it the least. I almost never hear them talk about self control....

The liberals love it when there is a massacre. It gives them a reason to whine. I suggest that if a person with a concealed carry permit had been in the theater, the gunman could have been killed and many lives saved. All it would have taken was a well-placed shot, even thought he killer had armor. The liberals want all guns gone because then the new world order would be easier to implement. To all law-abiding gun owners out there, heed the words of Charlton Heston and refuse to give up your guns. Fight until they pry the gun from your "cold, dead hands." Stay strong, patriots, in the face of the liberal assault on gun ownership.
To the families of those killed in the horrendous event, may God be with you and your families. I would also say this: the guns, mechanical objects, have no power until it's in the hands of a human. In this case it was in the hands of a deranged person. Every time something like this happens, the liberals want to guns taken from everyone, including all law-abiding gun owners. Guess who would have guns after that? You guessed it, the criminals and the deranged.

"All it would have taken was a well-placed shot, . . . " I doubt that a well-placed shot would have been required. This Tragic Joker would not have stood his ground if he had received any return fire at all. And in the tear gas filled theater, he wouldn't have been able to detect where it was coming from.

David, you are right. Who but an utter coward shoots at a dark theater full of unarmed people?

The liberal-socialist-fascist-muslim in the White House will use this to try and again chip away at the 2nd Amendment. His connection to CAIR and other radical Islamic orgs. is being brought to light by members of Congress like Michelle Bachmann. However,Muslim Keith Ellison(d) Minn. has tried to refute her allegations with rhetorical Dem. b.s.He should be tried for treason and dealt with appropriately.Anyone who votes for Obama should be tried for treason!

Michael Moore is an idiot. I can't believe people actually listen to him anymore. Similar to Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. A french philosopher once wrote that the downfall of most tried democracies is that the people that enjoy the fruits of the free society will become guilt ridden with what they have when others do not. Does Moore think the Romans were not violent, or the even French for that matter? How about the Germans or the Russians under communist and fascist rule. That would be violence between ruling class and the people. I guess he would prefer it that way more? One would be led to believe that he does not know what anthropology and history actually mean.

Agreed, Lawrence.
History shows that the REAL violence starts when the populace is disarmed. This video was produced by Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. It's some scary stuff.

Guns are not the problem, therefore, Gun-Control Laws are not the solution. The problem is sin in the human heart, that can only be cleansed by the blood of Yahshua (Jesus.) The solution is clear, present, right in front of our eyes, and freely available; all we have to do is look to the the Creator, Yahweh.
"The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick ; Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9 [NASB]
"...for there is no distinction ; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,..." Romans 3:23 [NASB]
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23 [NASB]
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16 [NASB]
"Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins ; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38 [NASB]
Oh that men would cease "striving after wind" and repent and seek His Face.

Yep. And if you could make every gun in America disapear with the wave of a magic wand, he would have found another way to commit murder.

I heard yesterday on the news that Holmes was a doctoral student who was expelled from his PhD program six weeks before the shootings. If this is true, then we are dealing with a very well-known scenario that begets deep emotional reactions linked to violence. You can look up all the past rejected doctoral students in the news archives and see the extreme violence they caused in reaction to their dismissals, most often to the faculty involved in their rejection.
Holmes is a crisis that is not going to waste in his ideological exploitation by our political elite, but that doesn't answer the most important questions about why and how to deal with this tragedy. If Holmes was a rejected PhD candidate and in this instance took out his revenge on innocent bystanders instead of doing what others have done before him and killing his perceived tormentors and betrayers, then we have a problem that is quite understandable and neatly answered.
Ignoring the facts and pulling in all sorts of wild explanations that do nothing but confuse and muddy the waters does us no favors. Our political elite can no longer be trusted with telling us the truth, or positively directing us toward an understanding that helps us all to heal, learn from this tragedy, and move forward. Moving forward is not what our political elite want us to do, unless it is to keep them in power.
No thank you, I prefer the truth, and prefer that our political elite lose their hold over our information by being thrown OUT in November. Best wishes and deepest sympathies to all who have lost loved ones in Colorado.

"You can look up all the past rejected doctoral students in the news archives and see the extreme violence they caused in reaction to their dismissals, most often to the faculty involved in their rejection." No, Mr. Forester, you cannot. In your effort, you WILL find an infinitesimal fraction of those young people who reacted violently. Generalize with some other life problem. In this case, I suspect drug abuse starting at an early age, on top of already existing emotional problems, would fill the bill quite nicely.

Oh for the days before 24/7 news when we found out what was happening around our state, nation and world twice a day. When reporters actually had the time and put in the effort to get most of the facts. (Although we're now learning just how biased the news/reporters really were then. Thanks Walter Cronkite.)
These pundits/experts (idiots) get on TV to GUESS what might have happened. Would love to see one of them say, "Honestly, there aren't enough facts available at this time to make an informed assessment of the situation."
Reporters ask such stupid questions at the police briefings -- "How long will it take to get into the apartment and dismantle the bombs and booby traps?" (I got a deadline here, dude. Could ya just go in and get blown up so we can get that on, too?) Stick a microphone and camera in the face of someone who's just gone through this hellish experience -- "How do you feel? What were you thinking?" They're in shock and reporters want them to relive it immediately and in detail!! Somebody or something HAS to be at fault. Must be a right-wing wacko. After all, we all know how caring, concerned, open-minded and fair to all the libs are.
Now we're learning this administration is requiring that interviews are turned in to be "edited" by them before being released or you don't get an interview. That cloud hovering on the horizon isn't the rain we badly need -- it's shades of Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, etc., where the gov't. controls the media.
God help us all.

One person with a weapon inside that theater might have been able to save some lives, but no weapons are allowed in the theater. Except for the ones sneaked in through an exit door by the perpetrator. I currently don't own a weapon, but criminals don't know that. I support the right of Americans to keep and use their weapons if necessary to defend themselves, or for sporting purposes and hunting. I don't understand why this person was sold 6,000 rounds of ammunition over the internet.

As a former Colorado resident, I was saddend by what had happened. But I am outraged at the people who use this as an example for gun control. Guns are not responsible for killing people. A gun can not walk up to someone and shoot them. Guns are designed to be used by a human being and no one else. So unless a robotic gun has been invented, there is no need for gun control. There is no way to stop something like this from happening. Guns will get into the hands of people who want them, regardless of the laws. We are garaunteed a right to bear arms. To stop this we would have to rewrite the Constitution. People need to stop with the blaming guns for something a human did.
The only way to get real help and a real solution to things like this, is simple......bring God back into society. Think about it, until we took God out of society, mass shootings like this were very very rare. We take away God and now look. We can't solve this by taking away our rights and scaring us into staying home or always being on the lookout. Society should have faith that God will protect us.

Obviously the perpetrator is mentally challenged, insane.
Naturally, the LMSM could not resist seizing the oppertunity to twist reality to conform to their illusion. Further, they could not wait for the dead to be burried by their loved ones. Liberals are the immature, and they have no class.
One thought I have on the matter seems important to me. The assault rifle used sounds alot like Holders 2,500 assault weapons walked south of the border. Any chance this will be checked out, and if found to be a Holder weapon, any chance Holder will be held accountable?
One and done! Nobama 2012, vote republican. Thank you.

Brian Ross should be fired immediately. Nobody with an I.Q. in triple digits believes ABC News is unbiased, and firing Ross with enormous fanfare would give them a scintilla of their lost credibility back.
But their "retraction" is just like the N.Y. Times does theirs: Print a huge inflammatory headline above the fold that slimes everyone to the right of Che Guevara even though they know it's a lie, them wait five months and print a "retraction" in 6-font at the bottom on Page E-47.
ABC's apology was utterly inadequate. They should have a "Special Bulletin" that breaks into their programming every 5 minutes for the next year: "We interrupt this program to inform you that Brian Ross - a former ABC commentator who we allowed to pretend was a reporter - was fired after he deliberately and falsely linked the TEA Party to a shooting incident. This is but a tiny part of our ongoing deliberate campaign of psychological operations to mislead you into believing as we do, even though even we know that our ideas don't work. We understand that ABC News has given you every reason to reject anything we have told you since at least the 1960's, but we hope that by admitting to this latest lie, you will give us another chance. From this day forward, half of our News Department hires and all of our editors will come from Armed Forces Network until we no longer reflect the political leanings of the faculty of the Columbia School of Journalism. We now return you to your regularly scheduled crap."
Every. Five. Minutes. For. The. Next. 12. Months.

Holmes took a lot of time and effort, premeditation and deliberation to do this heinous act. But, in perspective, 1000 rounds can be bought anywhere guns are sold and packaged that way. But each round must be loaded into the magazine manually and separately. Sen. Feinstein on FoxNewsSunday to MWallace said Holmes had a 100 round drum for the semi-auto AR-15 he had with him, but an eyewitness said on FNC that Holmes opened with tear gas & then a shotgun, which is either one,two barrel or 7shot pump. an effective short range kill machine. But Feinstein said we must control semi-autos. No matter what if you are under-armed in a fight to the death you lose.

Let me see if I understand it. The theater had a policy of no guns. So obviously the madman did not shoot anyone as he would obey the policy. Am I missing something here?
The theater's policy aided the madmen, therefore aren't they responsible for the carnage also? Where are the ambulance chasers in pushing a court case?
