AGW Concern 'Voters Guide'
As you prepare to vote this election season, if it's the disasters from CO2 induced global warming -- I mean climate change... oops, climate disruption (all of the above) -- that are of most concern, some things to consider:
1.) CO2 vs Global Temps

2.) Hurricane Hits vs CO2 in ppm

3.) Number of Strong to Violent Tornadoes

4.) The U.S. temperature 1960-2011 vs the last 30 years average

So if the AGW issue is your number one concern, these are just some facts to help you make up your mind. If disaster is imminent based on all this, then I have some beach front property at the base of the Rockies I would like to sell you.

I'm losing my liberal friends all of a sudden but I can't take them yelling at me anymore over this election. I can't even get a word in. The AGW debate is the tip of the iceberg.

Good timing on your comment. Biden was pretty much doing the same to Ryan last night. Shouting down the opposition is a trademark of the Neomarxist....

You could have hit them even harder Joe with the vanishing EL Nino, Cold PDO, Heatwave records, No Warming layer, Record Ice Antarctica, e.t.c....

My reason for NOT believing in AGW, or whatever the current name is, is simply the hole in the Ozone layer. No, it's only been since the latter half of the 20th century that we were able to detect it. Then, (according to the tree huggers) because we eliminated such products as Freon, the hole closed up. Well, maybe yes, maybe no, this hole could be a normal occurrence. It would be interesting to see how it would be explained away if it happened again. I would wager that this is a natural occurrence every climate cycle.

While I was never good at chemistry or physics in school, I have a younger A/C and heating contractor who was, and he says Freon has no effect on the ozone layer as Freon falls rather than rising. There are two factors that need to be considered in the global warming hoax. First there are always chicken littles ready and willing to jump on the sky is falling bandwagon, no matter what the scare is about. Second, you need to take into account the millions of dollars in grants given out by our wasteful federal government to study these overly hyped ideas. We had a very hot summer this year, but we broke very few records that were set either in the 1930`s or the years of 1953 and 1954. The global warming scam is just that, a scam.

I was 5 when Hurricane Agnes hit the Finger Lakes in '72. I believe that bad weather comes in cycles. Notice there isn't much talk about the 'ozone hole' anymore...Hopefully the term 'climate change' will receive the same fate~~~

I wonder if all the people pushing climate change has ever taken the time to really research climate in the past. It seems to me that this is nothing more than another cycle of the earth warming and the next cycle will be colder. I'm am certainly no expert but I seem to remember the same people who are talking about the climate warming up are the same people who also told us 20 or 30 years ago that we were headed for another cooling cycle. Makes you wonder if they really know what is happening or is it just a ploy to force us to use green energy. I wouldn't have a problem if green energy was feasible at this time. Now most of it is too expensive for the average person to use.

Hey Old Sarge, I'm 55. While in high school during the '70s I was told by the then "experts" that two things would definitely happen within a few years--an ice age and overpopulation. This manmade climate change stuff is all about UN / EPA regulatory control of people and scamming money ("carbon credits" and other forms outright thievery). I don't deliberately pollute, but I'm not joining the lunatic earth-worshiping idolators either.

Number 4 is pretty ridiculous. 1960-2011 temperatures versus 1981-2010 climatology? Joe, you do realize that when your compositing period begins before your climatology period, then negative temperature anomalies are CONSISTENT with a long-term warming trend, right? So I'll add number 5: 5) Beware of people with an agenda who use use deceptive statistics and graphs.

Nate, re “number 4 is pretty ridiculous,” the entire article is ridiculous, the only way to accurately put CO2 levels into context is to consider the relevant time frame, which is millions of years;http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/last-time-carbon-dioxide-levels-111074.aspx

To JC Allen in Groton NY: I was in Southern Cayuga, when Agnes hit, and I was eleven. I was hired by my fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Breeze, to mow her lawn, and it was five dollars. I could go to the Red and White; purchase peanut butter, a loaf of bread, a quart of milk, a 10 cent candy bar, and get change! I used a Briggs & Stratton- single cylinder- fossil fuel engine to spin the bladecutter! Love fossil fuels-A gift from God Almighty!!
