The Right Opinion

A Visit From 'Saint Joe'

By Joe Bastardi · Dec. 18, 2013

(With apologies to Clement Clark Moore.)

'Twas the week before Christmas, when all through the news,
There were reports of record cold, so many were confused.
Told global warming is why we should care,
And that the point of no return would soon be here.

The children were bombarded with tales of dread,

While visions of climate disasters were stuck in each little head.

And mamma in her Prius, and I on my bike,

To save the planet, got rid of the cars that we like.

When suddenly in the data there arose such a clatter,

The earth was not warming, what could be the matter?
The warming stopped, as quick as a flash,

Leaving proponents in sack-cloth, bathing in ash.

For far too common was new-fallen snow,

More than forecasted, temperatures 0 or below.
And, what to my wondering eye there appears,
But an uptick in sea ice, and even more polar bears.

With a little old driver, called the PDO,

I knew in a moment it had to be so.

Howling like beagles fearing the shame,
AGW pushers called skeptics many a name!

“Now, Denier! now, madman! now neanderthal, you're lying!

You're an idiot! you're stupid, know nothing, we're frying!
To the top of the chart! breaking through the temperature wall!
The warmings out of control, it's frying us all!”

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

This is the worst drought ever, global warming is why.
So up to the IPCC the climate pushers flew,

With a gravy train of grants, and politics too.

Make economies pay, we need no proof,

Just keep saying temperatures are going through the roof.
With the media complicit, my head was turning around,
To see the global temperature level off and then come down.

The warming had stopped, in their mouth was their foot,

Exposing the scam, and making off with the loot.
Readjusting temperatures, from many years back,

Peddling disinformation to the media pack.

At conferences they would drink and make merry!

While the deceit grew in a way, that made it quite scary!

For the tide it had turned, there was cold that would show,
You can't say it's warmer, if there's too much snow.

The cold that was showing led to chattering of teeth,

As the cycle came full circle, not unlike a wreath.
The face of global warming had become a subject smelly,
Their position as “solid,” as a bowlful of jelly!

Hockey sticks broken, sea ice on the increase,

I laughed when I heard their excuses not cease.

Events we all knew were something ahead,

Were twisted into worst ever, something to dread.

How dare mother nature destroy AGW's life's work,
These deniers are as nasty as a Miley Cyrus Twerk.
But the data is there and everyone knows,
The temperatures leveled off while CO2 rose!

So when in the wire, you hear the cold wind whistle,
The AGW agenda is ready for dismissal.
So let me exclaim, as this fades out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!”

Just last night, on NBC propoganda, Brian Williams proclaimed that November was the warmest it has ever been in recorded history. I screamed liar at the TV, and changed the channel. I try to watch occaisionally to see if they can get through a 30 minute broadcast without lying or propping up marxist treason with some opinionated comment, and I can never make it to the end of the show.

Mac in Arizona replied:

I'll have you know that Brian Williams personally took painstaking measurements the entire month to come up with his "record warm temperatures" story!

Although his Caddilac Escalade was parked in his garage where he placed his thermostat..... and he did consult a known Marxist climatologist from Georgetown who gave him all the cherry picked data from "recorded history".....

C'mon... he's just trying to spread a little wealth, man... geeze...

When I read "painstaking measurements", I immediately thought, Rectal Thermometer. He probably shares one regularly with Chuck Todd and Peter Gregory.

Would that be considered a "menage a trois?"

Not in my neck of the woods ...

Natural Gas consumption:

Nov, 2009: 69 CCF
Nov, 2010: 65 CCF
Nov, 2011: 69 CCF
Nov, 2012: 71 CCF
Nov, 2013: 143 CCF !!!

It has gotten very cold, very early this year.

Don in New York replied:

The news report was referring to the National Climatic Data Center's (NCDC) global land and ocean temperature anomaly for November. The warmth was not uniform and parts of the world were colder than normal, including a large part of the CONUS and Canada. At the same time, parts of Europe and Asia were exceptionally warm.

The NCDC map can be found at:

It should be noted that the NCDC data does not include Antarctica and the Arctic region. However, the GISS dataset does and it also found November 2013 to be warmer than any other November in its dataset.

PeterB in Indianapolis in Indianapolis replied:

UAH and RSS Satellite Data show November to have been exceptionally average globally, with an anomaly around +0.20 to +0.22C for the global average (about 0.4 degrees cooler than the averages "declared" by GISS and NCDC). I am sorry, but I will put my trust in the satellite data LONG before I put any trust whatsoever in NASA or NCDC after all of the "adjustments" that they make to their "data".

Dear St. Joe:

I wonder why you didn't mention that this was the WARMEST NOVEMBER IN WRITTEN HISTORY (since 1880) on earth. Must have just been a slight oversight on your part.

I know you've been so busy being "fair and balanced" and all that:)

You should really take a look at the facts some time.....

Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 8:02 AM

wjm in Colorado replied:

JC, you idiot, where did you get your lying information from? NBC? See my post and others above, you believe the lying propoganda outlets and regurgitate those lies, it only makes you the fool comrade. Some one wrote it down, and Brian Williams read it off of his teleprompter, and he beleives everything he reads. The ministry of propoganda cannot get through 30 minutes without prevarication, and useless idiots such as yourself parrot those lies. If you want facts, please tune out the ministry of propganda, their agenda is to destroy America.

JC Smith in Atlanta, GA replied:

Hi "wjm" good to hear from you:)

The information was from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). I's just another scientific fact.....and Joe doesn't like to deal in facts. But....the truth never just waits for people to discover it.

Funny thing is.....I went to FOX News and did a search on "record November" and it turns out there is NO ARTICLE ON FOX about the record global November temperature either.

FOX News....."Fairly Imbalanced"..

JC Smith in Atlanta, GA replied: is the link. When reporting should always add the link to the scientific article...and here it is:

I wonder why Joe didn't report on this? Hmmmmmm

bas in NL replied:

JC ever concidert NOAA being wrong? Strange hu but yes the are wrong. Look at it your self. Stop being an agwer and start woriing over the next ice age becaus its her al ready.

Friday, December 20, 2013 at 8:40 AM

JC Smith in Atlanta, GA replied: see....I am a "skeptic". And when I say I am a "skeptic"....I am ALWAYS skeptical of BOTH sides in an argument. That is what a TRUE SKEPTIC does. He looks to INDEPENDENT DATA....and MULTIPLE SOURCES of independent data. So....NOAA is NOT the only source of data I look to.

You can find the SAME OUTCOME.....that the worlds climate has been warming by looking at the following:

1) T he Hadley Center (Met Office in England)
2) NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) which maintains monthly temperature records (known as GISTEMP)
3) NCDC (National Climatic Data Center)
4) NOAA (which I already mentioned) see, the truth is very easy to see if you look for it. It is, in this case, all over the place.

Or...if you don't "trust" those 4 can use your eyes. Glaciers around the world continue to decrease in size as they melt. can look at the 3 major "ice sheets" in the world (Antarctica, Arctic, and Greenland). ALL have been receding.

While Antarctica's sea ice has increased slightly (a little over 3% since 1980).....but the "sea ice" is only that portion AROUND THE EDGE of Antarctica. The overall ice sheet of Antarctica has been DECREASING.

The year 2012 was a record warm year in the US. 2013 is turning out to be a record warm year in Australia. 2010 showed the warmest temperatures on record for Russia.

So you see...the truth is all around for you to see if you want to look for it.

Friday, December 20, 2013 at 9:03 AM

bas in NL replied:

Or simply open your eyes for reality.
NOAA NO WARMING for the lest 15 years.
GISS NO WARMING for over 15 years.
NASA NO WARMING for over 15 years.
IPCC NO WARMING for over 15 years.
RSS NO warming and I repeat NO WARMING FOR OVER 20 YEARS.

ANTARTICA 3de ice extend in modern history both extend and volume.
ARCTIC 50% gain of ice sins lest year.
Most glaciers are growing.

And the cold and snow? Thats no warming. If the globe was warming there would be no snow or ice ad places where it is now purely because it would be to warm. If it was warming there was growing wine grapes now in England. Oranges came as far as Belgium. If you want to say there is global warming you first need to know how global warming looks like and hell this is not what global warming looks like.

And if you look closer to your claims you would see they are falls. Learn and explore the trued.

Yes.....all the scientific organizations in the world must be in cahoot's with each other. You're probably right. Why didn't I think of that?

And they talk with each other...make sure they have the same story....and make sure nobody "spills the beans".'re probably right. I can't BELIEVE I didn't think of that. Stupid me:(

If I would have watched FOX News.....THEN I wouldn't have to put up with all that "science stuff" and facts......and scientific organizations.

FOX News.........Very Imbalanced....:)

PeterB in Indianapolis in Indianapolis replied:

Why did you bring up Fox News, when it wasn't mentioned AT ALL in the link provided to ???

Did you think because you brought up Fox News as a panic reaction that we would somehow believe you without following the actual link to Steve Goddard's Real Science website ourselves???

Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1:26 PM

PeterB in Indianapolis in Indianapolis replied:

You don't need "the links". GOOGLE is your friend, you can find COUNTLESS links ON YOUR OWN that show exactly what was claimed above. Basically no warming in ANY of the data-sets for the past 17 years.

Links are a crutch - do some of your own research and stop being so lazy. is a good place to start if you would like to graphically see for yourself that none of the datasets show warming.

Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1:24 PM

JC Smith in Atlanta, GA replied:

So in other have NO LINKS....and you can't show where any of the data sets show NO WARMING.

You know, and I know, that all the data sets show warming (combined land and sea). ALL OF THEM. And all of the organizations that compile the data sets say that the earth is continuing to warm.

I guess I did forget to mention that November 2013 was the warmest November on record for our planet (going back to the beginning of records in the 1890's). Just another in a LONG LINE of temperature records that keep on marching upwards.

The planet is warming with all data sets, the glaciers are melting, and the ice sheets are melting. And saying it isn't so......won't make that truth go away.

Monday, December 23, 2013 at 10:06 PM

PeterB in Indianapolis in Indianapolis replied:

As I said above, the UAH satellite data shows a global average of +0.2C for November, and the RSS Satellite data shows a global average of +0.22C for November.

Meanwhile, NCDC and GISS CLAIM a global average of +0.653 for November, even though that is in TOTAL DISAGREEMENT with both sets of Satellite data.

Who you gonna trust, the Satellite data, or the data that has been tampered with by the cult of climatology?
