The Only Problem With Democracy Is People
· Saturday, January 23, 2010
Winston Churchill, who made a better case for alcohol consumption than all the beer commercials ever produced, is well known for having observed that democracy is the worst form of government…except for all the others. But, in a less avuncular state of mind, he also pointed out that “The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.”
Even Alexis de Tocqueville would have a tough time arguing with that bit of cynical truth. It is especially true of liberals, a group numbering in the millions, who are of the opinion that their compassionate intentions out-weigh logic, honesty and principles.
That is why politicians on the Left don’t have to worry about telling lies, acknowledging their mistakes or even making sense. So long as they claim that their malicious mischief is motivated by genuine concern for the poor, the ignorant and the allegedly oppressed, their liberal flocks will pay homage to their efforts and applaud their fabrications.
The easiest way to comprehend liberalism is to think of it, not even as a religion, but as a cult. Many people, after all, have converted from one religion to another or simply dropped religion altogether, but it’s not quite so simple to abandon a cult. As thousands of grief-stricken parents have discovered over the years, they’ve had to have their offspring kidnapped and de-programmed because the brainwashing techniques have been so powerful. And that’s when a cult only has a single leader, someone like David Koresh or Jim Jones.
Imagine how much stronger a cult’s hold on the individual is when it has a multitude of heads -- demagogues like Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Kerry, Durbin, Murtha, Boxer, Waxman, Leahy and Schumer -- whose every utterance is parroted by the NY Times, the Washington Post, the New Yorker, Time, CNN and the alphabet networks.
How do you explain why anyone in a theoretically free society would willingly surrender his brain to Soviet-like thought control? The best answer I can come up with is that there’s a herd instinct among human beings that’s akin to the one that governs the behavior of cattle, sheep and lemmings.
To think like a liberal, a conservative merely needs to get down on all fours and then bang his head on a wall until he’s managed to knock 50 points off his IQ.
On the other hand, I’d like to think that even Winston Churchill would take heart from the recent election results in Massachusetts.

And there was a man who HAD to know how to drink! Incredibly, after following Churchill through the blood sweat and tears he'd promised them, in the most extraordinary display of national heroism ever, and utterly defeating Nazi leftist totalitarianism, the Brits voted Winston out before the ink dried on the surrender docs, and immmediately installed a government that nationalized everything.
There was a reason that our founders were adamant that only a profoundly Christian nation could cherish and keep Liberty.

You are correct in observing that all people are sheep. It all depends on who your sheppard is. In opposition to the wolves of Obama, Pelosi, and the far-left is the Good Sheppard, the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. Perfect and all-powerful, He will never lead you astray or fail to rescue you from the thorns, cliffs, and wolves of life. The Promised Land awaits, you must only follow.

Despite the fact that I am a religious person. I disagree with Seth . We have a free will and if you mix politics with religion you have to consider that GOD gave us free will. The right to choose the truth or follow the father of all lies. We must fight the lies that the Left spins so easily and the truth will win in the end. I am no sheep and I hope Americans will fight against Liberalism like a lion or an eagle. Not go quietly and wait for the almighty to save us. He already did that!

Whom ever made the quote about the humanitarian liberal was right "They justify their ill doing by their well meaning". Anyone know where this quote came from?

I feel as if democracy works best if one is does not follow any form of a Shepperd but rather dictates their own path. I am an atheist but I consider myself a strong willed patriot and a defender of our Constitution. I am guided by the laws and regulations of my country but first and foremost by my own depiction of what is right and wrong. I think following one's own route is the best way to be an American. Not that I am bashing religion, I wish I had a relationship with god. I just think that it's important to try and lead then commit to a life of following. In the end only I know what is best for myself, no one else.

Liberal-turned-Conservative Evan Sayet has an excellent theory to explain how Liberals think. He derives much of his explanation from the work of Professor Allan Bloom in "The Closing of the American Mind."
Mr Sayet takes it a step further. Bloom argued that students were coming to him denying the existence of "the better" -- the better thought, the better philosophy, the better literature, etc -- he said they had rejected objectivity in favor of "indiscriminateness."
Mr Sayet likens it to the Garden of Eden. We gave up paradise when we acquired knowledge of right and wrong, so in order to regain paradise all we have to do is regurgitate the apple -- give up all knowledge of right and wrong. In order to do that, Liberals have opted to become utterly indiscriminate. Right and wrong don't exist, morality is a matter of opinion, do whatever feels good, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, etc.
So one would expect that a culture of indiscriminateness would result in random judgment, but that's not what happens. When you're always arguing that wrong isn't really wrong, that behaviors that lead to success aren't really right, and that nobody can be better than anyone else, you must always argue AGAINST "good, right and successful." So you invariably come down on the side of "evil, failed and wrong." This is why Liberals are wrong about literally everything.
How can you do the right thing when you deny that there IS a right thing?

Sadly with all things there is good and bad. Our form of government allows for the existence of statists. The real trick is not to not to believe their lies.

Be careful on Churchill. He was as corrupt and disgusting as Hitler. This is another criminal that history glorified.
Churchill created the situation that resulted in the Vietnam war because he did not believe in democracy and GAVE French Indochina 'BACK' to France. Ho Chi Min wanted a democracy for his people. He demonstrated loyalty to the US during the WW2 rescuing American Fliers from the Japs. Churchill and McCarthy named him a communist and GAVE his people back to France. He aligned with the only ones who would help, a serious mistake, but his only option.
However Churchill's greatest and gravest imperialistic move was subtly finishing Hitlers goal of eliminating Jews in Europe. He tactfully GAVE them Palestine to get them out of Europe. He did not give the Catholics Italy!.
Now we spend our nations fortunes and our soldiers blood defending one of the most aggressive nations on earth.
Israel is not a state of this great country and we have no obligation to stay in a war to defend it.
Bring our troops home. Let the sons of Abraham work this out among themselves.
