All of the leaders of the communist countries have named their nations as the "Peoples Democratic Republic of ....." Yet there is no democratic function available to the people. Our dear liberal government, press and educational system are despaerately trying to force that system on the rest of us. The communist system is predicated on the equality of all in the same manner. Yet, as George Orwell stated, "some pigs are more equal than other pigs."

The pigs in the communist countries are never elected to their offices. However, in the United States, we do elect our pigs; and, they receive the choicest slop to feed on. The rest of us have to wallow in the mud looking for something to live on. The rest of us are forced to rely on the benevolence of the pigs in the marble building to keep the wolves away from our straw and stick houses.

The real question should be: Who is more stupid; the pig who feels our pain and has our best interests at heart? Or, the people who elect the pigs and follow their lead?

Hey, Burt, don't beat around the bush, tell us what you *really* think! You keep speaking out like this in public, and Team Obama is likely to call for a boycott of YOU. What I can't figure out, though, is why these liberal lunkheads think they can implement a system that has consistantly been proven an abject failure, without hitting the same stumbling blocks every other oligarchy has hit. Do these educated idiots really think they know better, and that they can make a system of socialism work when all the other socialist nations in world history have failed? These are the kinds of thoughts that enter your head when you spend your whole life in academia, and never have to hold a job in the real world. It's funny how people who have to work for a living have a completely different outlook on life compared to those who have that lovely little piece of job security known as "tenure".

Brian: Like you, I keep wondering why left-wingers assume that a system that has failed everywhere it's been tried--be it China, Cuba, the Soviet Union, Cambodia--will work this time. Two things come to mind. One possibility is that liberals are certifiably insane; while another is the president's megalomania. When Obama said that the reason that the health care transformation bill would go through this time when it didn't under the Clintons is because he makes all the difference, he was voicing the sort of egotism that's gone hand-in-hand with despots down through the ages. I love the article Burt. To bad it is so true. I know a couple of those Idiots, one a Brother-in-Law, a Nephew, Neice two step Daughters and on and on. Yes they are Teachers and Lawyers! I beleive Ann Coulters book, though I haven't read it, but the title is correct " if Democrats had any Brains they would be Republicans". Im not either but I sure can see the difference. I have seen the pictures of the ANWR oil project and can tell you it is out in the middle of nowhere and will not affect anything of value. But the Enviro's will stop anything because they are funded by the Govt. We have been saying for 50+ years about energy independence and where are we, because of these groups. In Minnesota we changed a Highway to save a couple of acres of Prarire Grass. Unbeleivable! While they are "Saving the World" who will be left to enjoy it?

Terry: Alexander the Great allegedly wept because he had no new worlds to conquer. The Enviros to whom you refer would weep if they had no new worlds to destroy. Unlike Alexander, who was honest enough to make it all about him, these hypocrites pretend that they are out to save the planet and every creature, no matter how lowly, that crawls or slithers across it, when, in fact, they are merely out to destroy industry and the economy.

Liberalism is indeed a self-indulgent, self-serving, self-absorbed, self-aggrandizing ideology equal parts theology and mental illness.

How else could we have the wholesale industrial slaughter witnessed during the 20th century, virtually all of it caused by Leftist governments (USSR 20 million murders, Hitler 6 million murdered, China 60 million murdered, Cuba hundreds of thousands murdered, and the list goes on) yet modern Liberals not only excuse their ideology from any blame whatsoever, but actually try to shift blame to their opponents! It wasn't Leftist ideology that killed all those people, it was Right-wingers! In school I was taught that Fascism and Communism were Right-wing, that the definition of Right-wing was any authoritarian political system, and that it was the Left who saved the world from the evil Right-wing zealots who wanted to kill us all. It was like an episode of Get Smart, with the bloodthirsty Kaos on one side and the affable good guys on the other.

Many Conservative pundits have observed that Liberals adore beautiful words and fine intentions, while retaining an infinite capacity to excuse or ignore the most despicable ACTIONS in history. That's why they still speak of Marxism as though it had nothing whatsoever to do with the 100+ million souls murdered under Marxist regimes.

Even the way they graphically represent government is both dishonest and self-serving. They typically draw a pie chart, with themselves at the top. Then they depict Fascism at the bottom down the right side and Communism at the bottom down the left side. So they paint themselves as the opposite of all bad things, but they have to totally lie to do it. They're not the OPPOSITE of Communism or Fascism, those things were merely off-shoots of Socialism. Orwell would have laughed right out loud.

Of course, they MUST lie in order to paint themselves as not merely innocent of slaughter but actually as the Saviors of Humanity! No magic trick of a scale such as that could be pulled off in the harsh light of honesty. Only in the shadows of revisionist history, media propaganda, and ownership of academe can such a thing be done. Thank goodness for talk radio, FOX News and the Internet or we'd never stand a chance against those odds.

Burt, the comment was a compliment. Animal Farm is the best explanation of communisim or Nazi's there is. I saw a cartoon version that followed the book exactly when I was about ten and I had to read the book in high school (now it is probably banned).

Excellent Burt. Just excellent! I love the humor you employ in exposing the sheer idiocy of the modern liberal mindset.

As humorous and ridiculous as these Liberals are, what I really fear however, is the "Progressive." The average comtemporary "Liberal" (academians, media mouthpieces, hollywood glitzoids, etc.) are merely "useful idiots", as Mr. Alexander is oft fond of describing them, to the more isidious "Progressive." The Progressive ideology is the real threat to Americanism and Liberty. Even the moniker of their political and socio-economic ideology - Progressive - is a smoke screen, leading the useful idiots and uninformed to believe their principles are rooted in the progress of society and the human condition.

Alas, it is quite the opposite. They are clearly rooted in policies of regression. For when we blow away the smoke screen and peel back the layers of subterfuge, we find they are simply Statists (the Marxists, Maoists, Fascists, and other state centered and ordered societal ideologies you point out the Liberals as ultimately embracing). The European monarchies our forefathers rebelled against were just Statists of a more ancient order, and the Progressive/Liberals of today simply want to return America to a contemporary and blended version of those State Ordered Societies. And there is nothing in the way of progress about it. It is always, and ever will be, about power of the state and control of the people. They've been doing it by degrees over recent decades, but of late, we see their impatience and the erosion of Liberty has become noticeably accelerated. And there lies my fear.
