Too Bad Obama Is Only Half-White

· Thursday, January 6, 2011

The worst thing about Obama's being a black man is that when you take him to task for his leftist agenda, it's so easy for those who endorse his policies to accuse you of being a bigot.

It's fascinating how that works. If you happen to disagree with Henry Waxman or Charles Schumer, you're not automatically called an anti-Semite. If you take exception to Nancy Pelosi, you're not immediately dismissed as a misogynist. In most quarters, you can even dismiss the lunacies of Barney Frank without necessarily being labeled a gay-basher.

What is it about being black, 150 years after the end of slavery and nearly half a century after the passage of the Civil Rights Act, that gives them this special status? Whatever it is -- and I suspect it's nothing more than the non-stop, self-serving blather by the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the assorted jackasses who comprise the Congressional Black Caucus -- it's high time we stopped giving them the license to whine. In fact, it's long past time that we told them to put a cork in it.

I know a great many people who think that Obama is the worst president we've had in a very long time -- and they are not overlooking Jimmy Carter -- and not one of them gives a hoot about his race. Their reasons have everything to do with his politics and his policies and nothing to do with his pigmentation. If it were otherwise, wouldn't these same people dislike Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams and Star Parker, all of whom are 50% blacker than the president?

Obama got off on the wrong foot when we discovered he was a friend of Bill Ayers and that he regarded Jeremiah Wright as his spiritual advisor. It didn't help when we heard him say that the problem with the Constitution and the Civil Rights movement was that they failed to deal with the redistribution of wealth.

Things then went from bad to worse when, after being elected, he went off on a world tour where he bashed our allies, kowtowed to our enemies, and competed with Michael Moore, Hugo Chavez and Mahmud Ahmadinejad, in trashing America.

Not satisfied with all that, he went on to lie about the great contribution the Muslims made in the creation of this country, forcing some of us to wonder if he knew something about the Barbary pirates that Thomas Jefferson didn't.

Perhaps his endless gaffes and apparent contempt for American symbols wouldn't be quite so offensive if so many people, on the right as well as the left, didn't, in spite of his almost comical reliance on Teleprompters, keep reminding us how doggone brilliant the guy is.

A while back, His Brilliance said, "America has its roots in the India of Mahatma Gandhi." Now, I'm grateful that for a change he complimented one of America's few allies in the world, but why is it so impossible for this lunkhead to give credit where it's due? Would it kill him to praise the Founding Fathers? I mean, I know they were a bunch of white guys, but they couldn't help it.

Suggesting that Mahatma Gandhi, 1869-1948, provided the roots for the United States, 1776-????, is comparable to the schlemiel who recently said it was our dropping the Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki that compelled Japan to attack Pearl Harbor.

I think I'm beginning to understand why Obama is so secretive about his academic records.

Thanks for the chuckle Burt, after starting to compute my taxes for this year I really needed it.

The other day my die-hard democrat father-in-law impressed on me that Obama went to Columbia and Harvard. I asked him if he knew how Obama got in, what were his grades and how he paid for that elite education. Look on face: Priceless

And then reminded him that Obama is not our first black president (regardless of what anyone wants), but in fact our first mixed race president. Either one doesn't matter to me, but lets get it straight who he is.

Many of us saw this guy coming with his "Yes We Can" without a qualifying noun.

MARINE

I posted some time back, that the Marine Corps does not discriminate. Short of going into it I will say I'am not a Racist. I Don't like his White Half either. With the list of his credit's, I'am more concerned with his Math grades than his qualifications's. I'am tired of hearing the phrase "after 400 years of oppression" the Black man has a chance. Give me a break, these people have had more opportunity than any other race to progress themselves. Howard Cosell was fired for saying the Black Man was bred for athletics. I have yet to see any great Black Historians other than the ones listed in the History book for Inventions they made and contributed to mankind. All the political pundit's and reverend's can find something else to cry about, and realize that the Democrat Party is responsible for their plight. They have been kept down and under their control for so long they can't break away from the hand-out's etc. A joke about the Black people is a racial slur, but against the white people is considered the truth. I will stay with the joke being a joke. Because I'am American Indian I especially like the one about-- what do you name a child who is half indian and half black? RUNNING DUMMY.

Burt,

Perhaps the worst travesty of civil rights has been the shunning of the best and brightest blacks in this country (Sowell, Williams, Parker, my new favorite, Allen West, et.al.) by their own race, who are instructed how to think by race-baiters like Sharpton, Jackson, Wright, and Farrakhan. Any dissention from the racist left ideology automatically brings a charge of "Tommin' for the white man". As much as it chaps my hide to be constantly called a racist, I can't imagine how it must be for Thomas Sowell to be called "Uncle Tom". Even Bill Cosby, for crying out loud, was attacked by blacks for speaking the truth. Pathetic.

Thanks, Burt, for showing me the correct spelling of "schlemiel". It's such a useful word in the current administration.

Liberty

If only the office of POTUS were occupied by a stupid, foolish, bigoted, incompetent would he be the worst president in the history of the United States.

Instead the occupant of the oval office, barry soetoro, is a naked Marxist who hates America. He is actively waging war against every American citizen. He is a treasonous dog who repeatedly commits crimes against the country, openly aiding and abetting our enemies and destroying our sovereignty. He is working diligently to destroy our economy even as he steals trillions of dollars to enrich himself and payback his friends and supporters.

A "schlemiel" like that belongs back in his native Africa - preferably serving some wretched "war lord" in Somalia.

It is refreshing to see the likes of Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Erik Rush, & Star Parker on the forefront of illuminating the untruths that propagate within thier race.

I like the other examples you mention as I can strongly disagree (hate) their ideals as well...Schumer & Waxman...both always jackin' with my guns...Barney Frank...messin' up my home equity...Sharpton, Jackson, Wright, & Farrakhan...smoke screens, malice, & lies toward their own kind that always have whites on the defensive...and, of course, Nancy (We have to pass this bill to see what's in it.)Pelosi...she's got to be the dumbest bimbo on record to think we don't see through her profound arrogance.

As for Ayers, I read "Rules for Radicals" back in the 70's and as I thought it was an interesting book, yet senseless as to why anyone would want to follow the practices proposed in the Alinsky models. Fresh from the Viet Nam war, I understood this was the greatest country to live in and if you disagreed with the foundations this society was built upon, you can quit trying to change it and exercise your freedom to leave it.

Well, so far I can't say that I disagree with any of the comments posted, but I am keeping in mind that it's early yet and "Dan" hasn't shown up yet.

Vinnie From Indy

Many of you simply do not get it. The fact is that this country has been "acquired" by corporate interests. We no longer have two parties. We have one party with two right wings that serve the likes of ultra-wealthy and global corporations.

Lastly, many of you should understand that the drug addict Rush Limbaugh is lying to you and he is rotting your brains. You think you are well-informed when in fact you are puppets on a string.

Cheers!

Burt,

One thing I don't like about your columns is that you sugarcoat everything!!!

I have heard the term "schlemiel" used before, but what is its exact meaning?

Keep it up!

Burt Prelutsky

I obviously spoke too soon. But instead of Dan, we have Vinnie from Indy (does he think that rhymes?)dispensing the Kool-Aid.

Blue Collar Mike: A schlemiel is a dunce, a dummy, a mental dwarf; easy to spot because he conveniently identifies himself with a (D) after his name.

Schlemiel - name followed by (D) or "from Indy".

Burt, gotta agree with Mike - you should just tell us how you feel and not worry about offending anyone - of course you will always offend the schlemiels, but the truth hurts.

Just love your stuff Burt! Keep it comin' --- it keeps us non-Kool Aid drinkers firm in our beliefs that there really are more of us than we think AND it just enrages the left. Don't you just love to see the deer-in-the-headlights look when you refute a liberal's argument with FACTS he can't deny? Now, we can get that same sense of satisfaction from Vinny and his ilk by simply scanning his short drivel. (I have to ignore the long tirades...blah, blah, blah.) Just love that you are one of the very few authors who is always willing to converse with your audience!

Marine almost got it right, but got Howard Cosell mixed up with Jimmy the Greek. Cosell, during a play, said, "Look at that little monkey go!" and he said it affectionately. I was never a big Cosell fan, but he never should have been fired for that.

billy: I guess I just can't help letting my softer side dictate my writing.

Merry: Thank you. I honestly don't know why other writers are so reluctant to engage in discourse with their readers. It's nothing personal, though; they also snub me on those few occasions I have written to them. Apparently it is not just the left that is populated with elitists, but at least we have fewer of them.

SJvet: You are right, of course. It was Jimmy the Greek, not blowhard Cosell that Marine had in mind.

Good essay Burt. I toohave been a big fan of Sowell et al for a long time. And, having raised successfully my white kids in a mixed ethnic neighborhood during the Civil Rights era, racial war seemed to be history (except for the endless reverberations from the likes of Sharpton and Jackson) that was, until Obama came along.

Question, was your schlemiel reference just a figure of speech, or did somebody, who should know better, actually say that?

True Black Insight

"There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”

Booker T. Washington.

Need this gentleman say more???

Need the White Race here in America say more???

Get off the Jackass Drawn Slavery Wagon of the Past and get on the Jet Plane of the Present and Future of Freedom!

Stop living in the past. Don't forget it but don't live there your entire life. Stop picking at that old scab/sore. Let the damn thing heal and move on with your lives. If not, all you're doing is wasting your lives away for nothing and wallowing in bitterness and hatered.

The Past is---History!

The Future is a---Mystery!

Live for now. That's why it's called the ---Present!

It's a Gift. Don't waste it. You'll only get one shot at it.

The White folks in America have bent over backwards to "Level the playing field" for the black community in America. (Think About It!)

Instead of whinning for more and more, how about just a small...Thank You!"

Our response would most likely be..."You're Very Welcome!"

Unti this happens, we will continue to hate and harm one another and regress rather then Progress!!!

And ya can't live like that for very long!

Burt, thanks for putting the theme song to "Laverne & Shirley" in my head. Schlott's beer, anyone? LOL

Vinnie is typical of the Leftist conspiracy theorist k00k who actually believes the Democrats have been taken over by RIGHT-wing extremists. That's because they see the likes of Pelosi and Obama shoveling tax dollars at corporations like AIG and due to the Left's astoundingly obtuse and dysfunctional understanding of economics they actually think that's evidence of RIGHT-wing bias. It never occurs to them that corporations can be LEFT-wing. Guess they never heard of AOL, Google, or the entire mainstream media.

Hey Vinnie, the MSM routinely puts Leftist ideology ahead of profits because to them the religion of Progressivism trumps the need for survival. They would rather go out of business for pushing ideological lies than enjoy prosperity for telling the truth. Welcome to Earth.

FWIW: As a Jew (one of the smallest minorities in the world yet never identified as a minority nor beneficiaries of affirmative action) I'd like to offer these colloquial definitions from my childhood:

A schlemiel is a person who, while carrying a bowl of soup, trips and spills it.

A schlimazel is the hapless jerk who ends up wearing the soup spilled by the schlemiel.

Which is the current occupant of the Oval Office? I think he's the schlemiel and for the past two years and the next two years we're the schlimazels.

James L. Bilenki Jr.: Sir , you have definitely spelled it out correctly. I've never heard it put so simply and direct.I know a few black folks that for all it's worth have never in my presence shown any sign of color in their character and have respected other people as people and not a race. It's a shame.

Burt, you easily manage to tweak the noses of the race baiters without sounding like a bigot. They need it because enough is enough.
