Obama's 'Counteroffensive'? Please!

· Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Seeing as President Obama cannot govern, he's had to go back to campaigning -- an activity with which he's quite comfortable but decreasingly successful, as evidenced by his falling poll numbers and his endless, repetitive speeches.

I don't just throw out this governance charge lightly. The Los Angeles Times reports that Obama is no longer receiving daily Oval Office economic briefings. More troubling, he doesn't even appear to have much of an economic team left to advise him. "The economic team lacks a top-caliber economist" and "is noticeably short on big-name players -- potentially hurting his ability to find solutions and sell them to Wall Street, Congress and the American public."

The Times quotes Edward Mills, a financial policy analyst with FBR Capital Markets, as saying, "When you ask about the economic team, it's kind of like, 'What economic team?' They are very thin at a very critical time."

Not to worry. At a time when Obama doesn't even have in place a chairman for his Council of Economic Advisers, he's talking about creating yet another federal department on "Jobs." That's the ticket; he doesn't have real people in real positions, so he just creates new positions. You can't fool all the people all the time, but you hope that you can fool just enough of them to ensure re-election.

Then again, perhaps we should be counting our blessings, because no one Obama would pick, despite that person's Ivy League credentials, would have the faintest clue how jobs are created or the slightest inclination to let the private sector work its magic.

Obama is obviously in way over his head. Don't get me wrong. He knows what he wants and is definitely in charge of big-picture items. He's the one driving the national car into a ditch. But he is not a detail guy. He doesn't want to be bothered with how things get done. "Just plug the damn hole."

Increasingly, people have caught on to the toxic combination of his extreme leftist ideology, his fundamental incompetence, his defiant refusal to accept accountability, and his mean-spirited partisan scapegoating. Gallup shows his approval rating at 39 percent, an all-time low.

So what's he supposed to do now? It's not as if he can just make the country vote for him against its will (Department of Justice voting supervision notwithstanding) as he crammed Obamacare down our throats.

But he can go back to the stump -- hoping to rekindle the messiah myth or the "hope and change" chimera. VoilĂ , The Associated Press reports that with his "dismal approval polls," Obama is planning on hitting the road and launching a political counteroffensive this week.

A counteroffensive? That word is obviously designed to depict a long-suffering, bipartisan Obama who has kept his nose to the grindstone on behalf of all Americans, only to be subjected to a unilateral Republican assault.

Excuse me? From the beginning, Obama has been on the offensive against everyone who dares oppose any part of his poisonous agenda. To suggest he's countering anything does damage to the language.

And what message does Obama have in store for us in his counteroffensive? Well, we don't have to guess, because he laid it out for us in his weekly radio address Saturday. I'll let you be the judge of whether he has any new ideas to tackle the economy and debt.

He said that putting people back to work "has got to be our top priority" -- as if he hasn't been saying that for a couple of years. He proposed putting construction workers "back to work rebuilding America," implying that he can just snap his federal fingers, spend borrowed money and inaugurate make-work jobs and things will all be well. He didn't specify how new stimulus schemes would be more successful than his previous $800 billion monstrosity.

He said he wants to cut red tape so entrepreneurs can get their ideas to market more quickly. So now our regent of regulation has become a champion of deregulation? Why not? He is, after all, a "fierce advocate of the free market."

Lest you think Obama is frozen in the same old rhetoric and impervious to new ideas, he seasoned his soliloquy with this brand-new assertion: "We didn't get into this mess overnight, and it's going to take time to get out of it."

And he leveled the novel charge that Congress only opposes him because of its partisanship. If it would only follow his example and "put country before party and the interests of our children before our own," we could solve these problems he "inherited."

In closing, Obama exhorted Americans to let their congressmen know how they feel. Finally, a course of action on which we can agree.

Yes, please do pick up your phones, send emails, tweet, text and shout from the rooftops. Good idea, Mr. President. Now you're talkin'.

PDK

Obama is trapped. He was raised, socially bred by his mother and maternal grandparents to be an anti capitalist, pro globalist socialist. To them, his mother and maternal grandparents, he would be the Messiah of their inner belief that socialism is the noble ideal, much better than capitalism.

He has lived this illusion all his life. He has defended the honor of socialism as though socialism were Maid Marion. How can he be wrong?

Unfortunately for America, he is the anti American Messiah. He could mature somewhat, he could put his hand on his heart when the Star Spangled Banner is played. He could dump some of blackie and stop targeting white on black wrongs where there are no wrongs being committed. He could and has learned to show some respect for America through Old Glory on the lapel. But how can he admit that his whole life has been an illusion. How can he admit that his mother and maternal grandparents were delusional. Surely the world must be wrong, he cannot be wrong.

As the anti American crew, such as Soros and company, try their very best to wreck and ruin America, the misery they cause in turn causes the American voting citizenry to awaken, and Obamas bull and baloney, the very bull and baloney that sounded so good in campaign rethoric, manifests as painful to live with when the theory becomes reality.

BHO pretends he thinks the problem is jobs. But that is not true. The problem is socialism and immaturity in power. From the cronieism to the meism, but most of all socialism itself. Obama would have to admit to himself that he is wrong, that his mother was wrong and his grandparents too. To bring America back Obama would have to kill off the anti American Messiah, but he likes being that Messiah to much to ever do that.

As long as Obama is President America will struggle. Thank you.

Money spent on a bus and a departments in charge of Indian affairs goes to Maui. All during economic and debt armageddon. We've got to throw these bums out!

Mr.Bones.

Why we even try to have an adult conversation about anything with the piece of human debris that sits in the White-House is beyond me! We know what he is and what he wants to do to our country, and its citizens. But just in case you've forgotten. He's a Bold Faced Lair! Who wouldn't understand the truth if it jump up and bit him on the ass. What needs to be done is to stomp on him ever time he opens his mouth. Because what comes out is physco babble and bull crap. But nobody seems to be up for the task in the republican party.I guess they think they're taking the high road but it's not working. They're going too have to get down in the gutter with obama and kick his arrogant chicago punk ass. If the republican party refuses to do so they will lose in 2012.Semper Paratus.

At times I thought he was an ignorant fool. Other times I thought he knew what he was doing and his not so hidden agenda was to ruin America so the govt could step into even more of our lives. Then, sometimes, I think he's merely a puppet or Manchurian Candidate.PDK said it well and is easy to agree with but none of this matters. If he appoints one more supreme, if he gets a second term and conservatives don't take over both houses, if something serious happens like civil unrest or new terror attacks, or he gets an opportunity to declare martial law-we are screwed. Not just a little screwed, but royally screwed. People have come to accept social security, amtrak, barney franks/cris dodds, subsidized this and bailed out that. America was close to vanishing long before this empty suit took over, he just moved us super fast towards the last days. I for one am not proud of what I'm leaving for my children and grandchildren.

Entitlements - Funny how the thesaurus defines the word: A “Right, Power, Prerogative, Privilege, and Claim.”

Do you suppose this is why we have such a problem in America? After all, it is a right of power and privelege to file a claim against the American Tax payers, is it not?

The emporer has no clothes, and just like the old story, he is the only one who does not know it.

@Fed Up:

Considering this definition of entitlements further, the only entitlements BHO would "reform" are "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness" and any other Constitutional entitlement that impedes the advance toward socialist dictatorship.

Sam's Gramma

Every day I am appalled by the gibberish that comes out of this man's mouth---BO, that is. And, every day he has more and more speeches to give, albeit, with the same messages over and over---I have often wondered how many actual hours this man has spent IN the Oval Office WORKING! He seems to be a "run-around" president, here and there, speeches, ball games, golf, vacations, parties----he is definitely NOT earning his salary. And, worse than that, he is obviously causing the greatest damage to our country in the name of "hope and change". Well, he had the "change" right----he's changed things, thats for sure----but there is no hope; certainly not from this guy. Our only hope and prayer is that we can find an electable, conservative, Republican who will, in fact, do whatever it takes to set our country back on the right path and "unloose the bonds" that BO has strapped around our country, and around all of us in one way or another. The ONLY good thing that has come from his presidency, in my opinion, is that after years of allowing other politicians on both sides to begin to turn America away from the foundation of it's beginnings little by little, BO's extreme ideas and fast actions have woke us up as Americans to what has been really happening to us all along. As the Japanese military leader said after they bombed Pearl Harbor, "we have awakened a sleeping giant". BO has done that for us; we are awake! For that I am grateful.

GOD SAVE OUR COUNTRY AND SHOW US WHAT WE CAN DO TO HELP!

Well said, TJ Cooney, although I'm sure there are a great many liberals out there just as blind to the bleeding obvious as their bare-assed leader.
