Ron Paul and America's Alleged Racism
· Wednesday, January 18, 2012
In the Republican presidential candidates' debate on Jan. 7, Congressman Ron Paul said: "I'm the only one up here ... that understands true racism in this country is in the judicial system."
He said this racism has to do with "enforcing the drug laws" and then added: "They (blacks) get the death penalty way disproportionately."
Two groups immediately defended Paul -- his supporters and commentators on the left. The former support anything Paul says, and the left supports anything that Paul says that portrays America as ugly (see, for example, the defense of Paul by left-wing USA Today columnist Dwayne Wickham, whose columns are regularly devoted to how much blacks suffer from American racism).
Just last month, Paul was asked by a representative of an organization (We Are Change) that holds the government responsible for 9/11, "Why won't you come out about the truth about 9/11?"
Paul's response: "Because I can't handle the controversy. I have the IMF, the Federal Reserve to deal with, the IRS to deal with. Because I just have more -- too many -- things on my plate. Because I just have too much to do." The interview is readily available on YouTube.
Whatever the implication of his cryptic response, when Paul is confronted by the mainstream media, he denies that he believes the American government was involved in the 9/11 attacks. But what is undeniable is that Paul, like much of the left, holds America largely responsible for 9/11 because of its foreign policy. That includes its "occupying" of countries all over the world; the sanctions on Saddam Hussein's Iraq, which Paul and the left claim killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis; the injustices against Palestinians that America has supported (through its support of Israel); etc.
Paul mocks the idea that the primary reason for 9/11 was that people of great evil attacked a very good country -- because this is what the evil do, just as they did on the Dec. 7, 1941 when the Japanese regime attacked Pearl Harbor.
It does seem that the Texas congressman's description of the American justice system as racist is part of Paul's generally dark view of America.
The claim that America disproportionately executes blacks is a falsehood, disseminated on virtually every left-wing website, from the ACLU to all the anti-death-penalty sites. The only way it can be regarded as true is if the disproportion is in relation to the entire population of the country: Blacks make up about 12 percent of the population and since 1976 have been about 35 percent of those executed for murder. But this is a statistic that tells no truth because it is meaningless in terms of determining alleged racial bias.
This is very easy to prove. Males make up about 50 percent of the American population but make up about 99 percent of those executed. Is the American justice system wildly anti-male?
Of course not. The statistic that matters in assessing bias in executions is the proportion of murderers of a given group who are executed, not the group's proportion of the entire population.
And here, it is clear that blacks are actually under-represented in executions.
According to the Death Penalty Information Center, an anti-death penalty organization, between 1976 and January 2012, 441 blacks (35 percent of the total) and 717 whites (55 percent of the total) were executed. Given that blacks committed more than half the murders during that time (52 percent versus 46 percent by whites), if we are to assess racial bias based on proportionality of murderers executed, the system is biased against whites, not blacks.
Because this fact is both obvious and irrefutable, virtually none of the anti-death-penalty sites note it. Instead, they focus on the race of murder victims and even the race of prosecutors -- in other words, the race of just about everyone except those convicted of murder.
It was bad enough for America and for moral clarity when Ron Paul's views on American imperialism and systemic racism were confined to the left. That about 20 percent of Republicans believe such things about America makes one anxious about the future of this country -- not to mention about the eternal battle against evil.

Dennis,
The idea that 'great evil attacked a very good country - because this is what the evil do' which Ron Paul mocks, is so true.
America is under assault by Islam which is an evil concept in governance and certainly no religion. They now use our laws to undermine our very way of life.
America is also under assault by another evil called progressives who seek to tear down the fabric our liberties in no less ruthless fashion as Islam, again because that's what the evil do.
As for Ron Paul, he's just a wing-nut who is as deluded as many progressives.

Forget for a moment America's (hopefully) good intentions in having a military presence and political influence, because indoctrination and cultural differences have eliminated that perception from the average Middle Eastern person's mindset. Then consider how we would feel if all we knew about China/Russia/England/whoever was that they had a military presence on our soil, and that they had more influence on our government than we the people did. We'd want to fight them too. There is evil at work, but let's put that target where it belongs, and also recognize that "American interests" overseas means some American is interested exploiting something, while the rest of us justify it by saying "well, they should ____" is the wrong mindset. America has done some very good things, but nobody is 100% very good.

Dr Ron Paul has some very good ideas on fiscal policy and unconstitutional agencies in the federal government. His campaign hopefully will force some of this fiscal sanity into the Republican Platform and for the eventual nominee, who will not be Dr Ron Paul. His campaign can serve a purpose, but anyone with his insane ideas on foreign policy will never be a serious contender for the oval office. If he tries a third party run, he will then reveal himself truly delusional, as he will personally ensure the re-election of Chairman Obamao, which he claims to be against.

It is interesting to note that "mmccrindle" and "wjmccrindle" pop up on just about every comment blog in their effort to bad mount Ron Paul .. using the same old worn out phrases to support their opinions.
I'm with them in rejecting Obama. I'm with them in saying that Paul has some great ideas. I just don't share the view that he is some "wing-nut" that should be rejected out of hand as being "delusional." I save those terms for guys that have nothing better to do than throw mud. It would be a whole lot better if we presumed Republicans simply gave our opinion as to the qualifications of the candidate we like and leave the mud slinging to others.

If you think that Islam can be reasoned with, that the United States can bring all our troops home, and Islam will somehow go against their basic premise that wants to destroy or enslave us, then you are as delusional as the good Dr Paul. I would encourage you to reak Mark Steyne's book "America Alone". Heck read the Queran. You will see there can be no pacification or group hug with Islam. They hate us not for any particular United States action other than being a Christian Nation. Our rule of law stems from a higher power, not some muhamed penned barbaric sharia law tome. My phrases will never be worn out except when the enemies of the state are thrown out of office. I would submit to you my Opinions are bases in a body of facts you are ignorant of. So stop watching the ministry of propoganda, get a clue, and quit backing an idiot when it comes to foreign policy. Have you ever traveled abroad? I spent 26 years navigating C-130s around the world, and have seed islamic cesspools first hand. I wish they could be reasoned with, but that will never happen. I am not politically correct, call 'em as I see 'em, so when a political candidate supports national suicide in foreign policy, nut-job and delusional are apt descriptions for this man.

Cool down, o' pilot of C-137's who visits "islamic cesspools" for some reason I probably really do not want to know. One can have a difference of opinion without being ignorant, delusional or a "nut-job" (your commenting relative uses "wing-nut"). The same can be said regarding what Dr. Paul presents as his real platform for "foreign policy." You might want to look into that a little further.
Take a moment to explain what is happening in Iraq now that the bulk of our forces have been withdrawn. While I have the same intense feelings of caution regarding those Muslims who follow the radical teachings of Islam, I can also see that our being there (after a ton of casualties on both sides) did not change much. In fact, they are back to killing each other at about the same rate (maybe a little more) than before we got into the last war over there. Can you see how maybe (even aside from sever economic pressures) it would be a good idea for us to focus on things related directly to our own domestic problems? Maybe having some troops in Michigan would slow down the Islamic transformation of that state and their demands to change the Rule of Law to include their idiotic concepts. America could end up with the same fears that pervade the United Kingdom and for them it may be too late.

while Dr Paul does hold the constitution in high regard, his grasp of reality is limited.I say let the blood be shed in Iraq,Iran or Afghanistan-take the battle to them-tell amadimbulbajob if he so much as farts in the strait of hormuz we'll turn his country into free parking for saudi arabia-better yet-send in seal team 7 for his ass and have israel vaporize any place there is more radiation than an x-ray

Please stop, you're delusional rants speak volumes for those who can't quite accept reality from delusion. Keep your head in the sand, if you don't want to know why my C-130 was in harms way. Ignoramuses usually don't want to know the facts that prove inconvenient to some warped ideology. I flew in support of freedom from tyranny. I flew in support of United States interrest in stopping a madman that supported terror. If you follow my posts, I believe we should be defending the World from islam, and work towards the total anihilation of this evil. Europe and England may already be too late to stem the tide of Islamic takeover. Michigan might be as well, if we don't wake to the true nature of Islam. I don't have to look further to see the insanity of Dr Ron Paul, I believe it is you and your ilk who need to study further, please read Mark Steyne.

Now who is using the tactics of distortion? I have been researching Ron Paul for about 6 months. Since when has he been considered "left wing"? Since when is upholding the Constitution a "left wing" principle? Since when is it okay to attack one of our own on the basis of race baiting? I read quite a few of those old newsletters. I read the opinions of a man looking at the L.A. race riots being reported without being centered on the moral compass between good and evil but between "it is okay to riot as long as your black" and it is not "okay for a white person to protect him/herself or their property". This was a major fact of the reporting that was being done. This was a castigation of reporters instigating race riots by rallying black mobs based on false standards of reporting.
It is way to easy for paid media messengers to distort, pervert and re-direct the messages to agree with the purposes and intents of the owners of the organizations that pay them to present their messages.

I`ve got your back wmccrindle. People like Shorty, who believe we can play nicey-nice with murderers like Islam are committed to the USA committing suicide. While Ron Paul may have some acceptable ideas when it comes to the economy, I pray that anyone of his irrational world view never becomes president of this country.

I have a distaste for throwing around the term 'delusional.'
I'll use 'severely misguided'. wjmmcrindle, when you say "we should be defending the World from islam, and work towards the total anihilation of this evil..." ...frankly I'm dumbfounded at how impossible and misguided this would be.
You seem to be proposing a second Crusade. This would be a fool's errand. Mark Steyn is right: they are taking over the world. We can't save other countries from them. I appreciate Shorty's and Ron Paul's argument: we need to focus on our own country. We can't be so amazingly over-committed overseas.
Rome fell from within and we're well on our way to the same fate. We need to pull back, clean house, sharpen sword, and watch warily.

Why is it that EVERYONE can see the threat from Iran, a country which MIGHT get nuclear weapons in the next 10 years but would have to deliver their ONLY warhead using a steam powered wooden rocket? Even if they were to do so successfully, a first generation warhead could kill maybe 50,000 people, whereupon the entire surface of Iran would be converted to craters and molten slag.
Why is it those same people CANNOT see the national security implications of a 16 trillion dollar debt and 100 trillion in unfunded liabilities? There are at least three countries now that could, if they desired sell off enough T-Bills, Mortgage backed securities and other cash equivalents to cause a crash in the dollar – thereby effectively cutting off imports like oil and gas, without which our transportation infrastructure will crash.
Did you know supermarkets only keep about 3 days worth of food on hand? Imagine there’s no diesel available and all the trucks are idled for a few weeks. Can you spell national emergency and martial law?
Did you know the loss of manufacturing in the US has left us dependent upon foreign powers for vital raw and finished materials? It takes YEARS to open a mine or a factory due to federal regulations.
You need to vote for Ron Paul, but if you can’t do that then for heaven’s sake store a couple of months of dry food.
Vote Vertebrate – Ron Paul is the only choice consistent with the principles of self preservation. Think of your family.

"Is the American justice system wildly anti-male?
Of course not."
Are you NUTS? Of course it is. Men are routinely denied access to their children after divorce or separation.
Men are more likely to be prosecuted for the same offenses as women, even when they are co-conspirators with women.
When they are prosecuted for the same criminal actions, men usually face more serious charges for those actions.
When charged with the same offenses, men are more likely to be convicted with similar evidence.
When convicted for the same offenses, men usually receive longer sentences.
If a couple has a fight with ANY physical contact - no matter how slight and no matter who started it (the female swings first most of the time according to statistics from the Justice Department - hardly a pro-male organization) - the man is FAR more likely to be arrested if the police are called.
A male teacher who has sex with a willing 16 year old female student is a molester who will serve years or decades in prison. If you reverse the sexes, she is likely to be consider "troubled" rather than "criminal" and be required to attend counseling and perhaps perform non-custodial community service.
A man who cannot pay all of his court-ordered child-support because he lost his job has committed a CRIMINAL offense and thousands of such men have been jailed as "deadbeats." If you reverse the sexes, there is no way she will ever see the inside of a jail cell. However, a women who maliciously denies a father his court-ordered visitation is guilty of a CIVIL offense and will face no legal action from the criminal justice system whatsoever.
If an adult female molests an underage boy and becomes pregnant, she may sue him and his parents for child-support - and win.
The U.S. Department of "Justice" requires all colleges and universities that accept federal aid (which includes student loans), to drop the "Clear and Convincing" standard for allegations of sexual harassment and assault in favor of the much looser "Preponderance of the Evidence" standard. This results in many male students being denied basic rights because of unsubstantiated (and often false) accusations. Recently a male student at the University of North Dakota was expelled after a female student falsely accused him of sexual assault. The claim was so malicious and preposterous that the prosecutor in Grand Forks, ND charged her with filing a false report after the police concluded their investigation. UND persisted in denying the male victim the right to continue his education, citing the federal "Justice" Department mandate. The school took no action against the female perpetrator, of course. She fled the state, but apparently committing a serious crime in an effort to destroy the life of an innocent man is not worthy of tracking her down and extraditing her to face charges - if the criminal is female.
Not "wildly anti-male" my butt.

It is not misguided to know your enemy. Anyone who thinks allowing Islam to be practiced in America is a sane idea, has no clue to their nature and their agenda. Islam is not a religion, but fools you idiots who believe it is. Islam is a system of tyranical governance that seeks to overthrow the world. Yes, I would advocate a crusade and start with the vaporizaiton of Mecca. We allow islam in America at our own peril.
