NBC's Special Victims
· Friday, March 12, 2010
NBC's "Law & Order" programs are long established and all over the schedule. But the sex-obsessed vice cops of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" are a breed apart. They exist to be socially provocative, which is to say, to rattle, to disturb. Viewers at home probably weren't ready for the plot that aired on NBC on March 3. These scriptwriters are so revolting that they become almost comical.
As you read what follows, you decided how closely this mirrors anything resembling the world of reality.
Someone was strangling prostitutes to death and leaving prayer cards behind. The first suspect was a perverted man whose wife proclaimed he had converted to Christianity and overcome his sinful ways. The cops quickly discovered the man dismissed his wife as a "prude," and he was cheating on her with a variety of young girls because "it's not a crime to want a little variety" in his sex life, including "toys, role play, and threesomes." Despite his ardor for sexual gunplay as well, this so-called Christian was not the strangler.
Unsurprisingly, the killer was a Bible-quoting minister. During an interrogation by the male lead detective on "SVU," he claimed, "There is a better life waiting for girls like her (a murdered prostitute) in Heaven," that "God put me on this earth to fight Satan's grip on these girls' souls!" And: "Sometimes dying is better than living."
This minister's religious creepiness was off the charts: "Whoever did this wasn't a murderer. Whoever did this sent these girls to Heaven out of love." When he was inserted into a line of suspects, he walked right up to the mirrored windows and yelled like a prophet from the Old Testament: "They shall fall by the sword, their infants dashed to pieces, and their women with child ripped open!"
The prostitute who was brought in to identify him ran down the hall and fell down a flight of stairs, damaging -- surprise -- her unborn baby. When she later identifies the killer and he is convicted in court, the Christian killer screams more Bible verses at the judge. "He who sitteth on high, upon the wicked, he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: This shall be the portion of their cup!"
Now let's try to turn this around, or make it less upside-down. Instead of Christian minister villains and saintly prostitutes, reverse it. Let's say the innocent victims are nuns, and the vicious assailant is an atheist. How would this plot sound to Hollywood?
A string of nuns are being strangled to death, and left behind at the crime scene are tracts from the Freedom From Religion Foundation. One young nun narrowly escapes death, and is called into the station to identify her assailant.
The killer is a stark-raving atheist. When the cops bring him in, he's shown grisly pictures of strangled nuns, and he creepily proclaimed, "Someone needs to fight the noxious idea of God and its grip on these women!" and "Sometimes dying is better than living."
When the nun who escaped came back to see a police lineup, the creepy atheist walked right up to the mirrored window and yelled "Praise Darwin! Evolve beyond belief!" And: "Stop telling pious lies to trusting children! It's abuse, plain and simple!" The young nun was so frightened that she ran out into a stairwell and fell down a flight of steps.
Later, when the atheist goes on trial, the nun identifies him as her assailant. He responds by verbally attacking the judge: "Uphold the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death!"
This plot would create unholy havoc in Hollywood, which would reject this scenario as outrageous, defamatory and even immoral. But reverse the characters, and they're the actual outrageous, defamatory propaganda plots that NBC airs without a second thought.
Most Americans would vote for a plot where the nuns and the ministers were on the side of Good. That's the way it used to be, before the sexual revolution and the wholesale rejection of religion as a positive force in society. But in today's Hollywood, these characters are quite easily (and literally) demonized.
Many millions of Americans believe in a religious worldview and traditional moral values. They love their churches and hate their sins, and they don't see the Bible as a dangerous fiction book that inspires killers. The fact that NBC chose the tradition-bashing set of cultural talking points on "SVU" shows the vast moral disconnect between Hollywood and the rest of America.

The mythical War on Christmas continues. Pathetic.
This piece is an epic fail in that religious bigots have murdered in the name of religion, over and over again, whereas Bozell's scenario exists only in his fevered mind.

Brent say, "Most Americans would vote for a plot where the nuns and the ministers were on the side of Good. That's the way it used to be, before the sexual revolution and the wholesale rejection of religion as a positive force in society..."
He must mean those Good child raping priests and ministers. At least the sexual revolution people and wholesale rejection of religion people don't set up institutions for the systematical indoctrination and raping of children.

Shocking is what sells. I don't think an athiest knocking off nuns would have any shock value. Churches are still very much seen as providers of moral guidance and beacons in the community. It would be enormously shocking if one of the pastors in our small town was discovered to be doing the things that were done in the Law and Order show. It would recieve a huge amount of attention and NBC knows this. they are just in it for the dollars. In a few years they'll probably have an episode where the pope rapes and tortures little poor children and then cooks and eats them.
You really have to feel sorry for people that need that sort of stimulation. But they spend money too!!

SVU is a treasure trove of bizarro-world moral inversion where the supposed good guys consistently come down on the wrong side of the issues. But that's the whole idea, after all. Witness the Leftist commenters who rushed here to post their apologist tracts dismissing the war on Judeo-Christian values as something out of the "fevered imaginations" of Right-wing columnists.
Really?
Notice the apologists don't actually deny the plot of the program. Instead, they defend it as though everyone knows Christians are murderers. Well, let's see. Can we agree that the Inquisition was the most dangerous period in Christian history? Yet, in the 300 years of Inquisitory history, we find that a mere 3000 people were killed. On the other hand, in the brief 80 year reign of the Soviet Union, 20 MILLION innocent people were slaughtered in the name of Atheist Communism. Yet, the Left insists Christians are the dangerous ones.
Let's look at SVU a bit. The female detective in one episode defended a 15-year old girl's "right" to have sex with men. She termed the mother's perfectly reasonable desire to prevent that dangerous behavior as "controlling" and tried to use the legal system to sever mother from daughter. After all, it's much more important for children to have sex with grownups, right? Parents are the bad guys. Children know best.
In another episode, the same female detective violated the law to interpose herself between a mother and daughter because she decided the mother was not paying enough attention to her daughter. What a great solution! Mom is doing her Feminist best to pursue a career at the expense of her family, and here comes Detective Buttinsky trying to use the court system to take the daughter away and put her in foster care.
The show is just one of many on network and cable that sells moral inversion as popular entertainment. It's not an accident, either. When you've got a populace unsure of its moral underpinnings, you've got a populace more easily led down the garden path. This is the country that decided lying under oath is perfectly all right if it's about sex. Then it all depends what your definition of "is" is. This is the population that overwhelmingly declared "oral sex isn't sex" even though it says "sex" right on the label. Nobody really believes that, except as a talking point. When their spouse comes home with that argument, they hoist the Jolly Roger!
Wake up, America! Why do we let these Leftist fools sell us this unworkable crap? There's a REASON Judeo-Christian morality has survived thousands of years -- it WORKS. Destroying that system of morality forces every generation to reinvent the wheel, and that's incredibly stupid. Why go through all that failure, when we already have an excellent system with a proven track record of success? Contrary to what the Left unquestionably believes (and they tell us every day), Americans are NOT stupid. So don't fall for the Left's con game on morality. Without morals, nothing works.

Mr. Michael, you have a good post. I am glad you like to write with great detail to "unravel" the "entertained TV people".
I hate TV. It is "entertainment", introducing people to such strange and anti-American philosophies and inviting people to "see the works of darkness". Yes, the "works of darkness" have always been in the earth, but TV introduces those "works of darkness" to people who have no judgment. Scripture is very clear on this subject, "..but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil." Romans 16:19.
The "Old" Preachers warned against "enthusiasm" which is "entertainment" because man, in his natural state, tends to be lazy. That's why movies, theater, and TV have always been an enemy to the soul of man and the Old Preachers gave stern warnings about "idleness".
It has always been a distress to me that anyone who takes their "perspectives" and "reference points" from movies and TV will soon end up, DOING NOTHING for the cause of God & Country.
My Dear Mother, was always so busy in her adult like that she didn't have time for TV. As her health declined, she watched TV. The news was her main point of viewing, yes, I warned her that "TV news" was actors and "social manipulation", but I certainly could detect, that "thinking" was not needed and "entertainment" had set in. With it came "intimidation" to accept the philosophies of wickedness.
May the Lord give US determination to "watch and pray" and "destroy the works of the devil" in this generation to which we have been born, for we will give an account to God, for what we have done to preserve, in this present age, for our God & Beloved Country.
Thanks again for your good post.
For God & Country
