Truth and Terror

WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration has a nearly flawless record on the economy. When President Barack Obama or one of his senior minions, such as Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, launches a rhetorical offensive on protecting us from the perils of capitalism, we have learned to expect an instant stock market nose dive followed by higher unemployment rates and talk of greater government spending and debt and higher taxes. That's bad enough, but now the O-Team is talking about protecting us from terrorism.
Last Sunday, in a surreal "warm-up" for the Super Bowl, Mr. Obama told CBS News' Katie Couric that putting 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed on trial in New York City is a good idea. With a completely straight face, he claimed, "We're not handling any of these cases any different than the Bush administration handled them all through 9/11." It isn't entirely clear what "all through 9/11" means, perhaps because this stunningly disingenuous comment was delivered without the aid of a teleprompter. This is, after all, the man who made "closing Gitmo" his first official act as president. Evidently, the Obama spin cycle has no limits -- and there is no setting for "truth."
Set aside trying to imagine President George W. Bush putting KSM on trial in the Big Apple, just blocks from where 3,000 perished in the Twin Towers. And don't even think about how Mr. Obama could apologize to people in dozens more countries for America in general and his predecessor in particular -- only to now embrace "Bush-era practices." It is alarming how facile it has become for Mr. Obama and the rest of the O-Team to dissemble about the real risks confronting us -- and what we need to do to protect ourselves.
Last week, with the federal government shut down by a snowstorm, "nonessential personnel" were told to stay home. One of the apparently "essential personnel" was John O. Brennan, Mr. Obama's "terrorism czar," whose official designation ("Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism") is worthy of a Soviet Politburo title. On Tuesday, Brennan took to the op-ed page of USA Today to spin the O-Team's decision to treat Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the Christmas Day underpants bomber, as a common criminal instead of as an enemy combatant.
In his column, Brennan baldly claims: "Immediately after the failed Christmas Day attack, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was thoroughly interrogated and provided important information. Senior counterterrorism officials from the White House, the intelligence community and the military were all actively discussing this case before he was Mirandized and supported the decision to charge him in criminal court." He then declares, "The most important breakthrough occurred after Abdulmutallab was read his rights," as if all this occurred within hours of the arrest.
Unfortunately, these assertions are flatly refuted by the sworn testimony of the CIA director, the director of national intelligence, the secretary of homeland security, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center and the director of the FBI. We now know that the initial questioning lasted less than an hour before Abdulmutallab was wheeled into surgery. We also know the "important breakthrough" that Brennan gushes about occurred six weeks after the failed attack -- and only after the terrorist's family urged him to cooperate with U.S. authorities. In short, somebody isn't telling the truth.
Worse still, Brennan's solution for handling the problem of radical Islamic terrorists dying to kill as many of us as possible is to tell us all to sit down and shut up. "We need no lectures about the fact that this nation is at war," Brennan expounds. Then, in case his point was somehow missed, he adds, "Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda." In other words, if we have a major terror attack in the next three to six months -- as CIA Director Leon Panetta says is likely -- it's our fault for not just going along with the O-Team's agenda.
Following this train of "thought," it will be our fault when the theocrats ruling Iran build and use a nuclear weapon. It would not have happened had we just sat mute, like Mr. Obama, while anti-regime protesters were bullied and butchered -- as happened again this week, on the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. His last-minute announcement of unilateral U.S. "sanctions" against a handful of regime kingpins this week is feckless. Sanctions only work when applied to all corporations and banks around the world that are doing business with despots -- not just American corporations and banks. But that requires firm, consistent, honest leadership. That's the terrible truth -- and our enemies know it.
It's a good thing for Mr. Obama that the weather kept the government closed this week. The "blizzard" let him ignore the hard questions. If you have been praying for snow, you can stop now.

Semper Fi Col. North! You hit the nail on the head about the so called "O" team. They would not recognize the truth if it bit them on the butt!
This is probably the most untruthful administratation since FDR and I have lived to see a man in the Oval Office that thinks there are 57 states and the Constitution is just a piece of paper to be ignored!

Col. North, I have respect for you because you are a Veteran. You have done your Duty to God & Country and I salute you.
Your last line of your post, "If you have been praying for snow, you can stop now." Weather is an especial prerogative of God according to Job 37. Job 37:13, "He (God) causeth it (weather) to come, whether for correction, or for His land, or for mercy." I don't pretend to know exactly why the Lord sent the "blizzard" but I can tell you in the Words of Benjamin Franklin, "God rules and reigns in the affairs of men."
I and many God-fearing Americans are praying for this Country and our Veterans. This is God's Country, our Foundations are righteous, we were established a Christian Nation - Supreme Court ruling 1892. WE WANT AMERICA BACK.
So in a Providential move, God brought that weather. How many times, that we know of, the Providential hand of God moved in Military maneuvers, George Washington, "Crossing the Delaware", The Dunkirk miracle, how about the Mind field Miracle that the young soldier told about over in Iraq. All things we know(so we can give God the glory) and yet, many things we don't know, yet we can say, "Glory to God for His keeping and preserving hand."
I can't stop praying for my Beloved Country and it's soldiers, I am an American.

I respect Ruth Ann Wilson. We should all tell the truth. We have fredom of speach thanks to our forsighted leaders years ago. Now I feel it is our duty to protect our laws of our land. We also must protect our people from all kinds of things. But I do know we should not expect our government to solve our problems. We need to do this ourselves. I am a veteran of Vietnam era. We felt like outcast coming home. Most of us adjusted and some have not. I hope we have America so why should we want America back. In God we Trust!

We want America Back. I use that because many people have taken the Blessings of God and the God-given Rights for granted. So the devil has come in to possess Our Beloved Country that was given to US by God.
You paid a price to secure to US all that we have. I have always tried to speak for God & Country even when "NO ONE would listen" Things were going along and nobody wanted to be bothered, they used to tell me, they just wanted to live life, but I could see my Beloved Country, a little here and a little there, being destroyed.
I had a Beloved Brother in Vietnam. Vietnam was the first time the American people were encouraged by the TV to "abandon their Veterans". Those were strange days. Thank God those days are over.
I called the "hippies", "peacniks"(these smart alecks thought they were "kinder and sweeter than God.") Another Brother who is still living, was in the Marine Corps at the end of Vietnam. He likes that word (peacnik) because it described what he encountered when he came home from Okinawa in the early '70's.
As long as I have anything to do with things, Our Veterans will be given "Honor to whom Honor is due".
America's No.1 Because of our Veterans.

Let's see. Obama declared that Iran magically has a "right" to nuclear technology despite their loud and proud proclamation that they intend to use that technology to "wipe Israel off the map."
Obama had proof that Iran was doing far more work toward acquiring nuclear weapons than we'd feared, and instead of making a case for containment at the UN, he shoved the proof in his pocket and said nothing.
Obama sided with the tyrannical regime of murderers and terrorists over the pro-Western demonstrators who cited Iraqi Democracy as their inspiration. He told them basically to shut up and go home.
Obama chided us not to jump to conclusions in the wake of the terrorist attacks on our soil last year. He refused to call them acts of terror. He refused to admit the attackers were motivated by Islam. He denied they were terrorists at all, but tried to characterize them as "isolated extremists." He couldn't have done more to rush to their aid if he'd offered to bandage their wounds himself and kiss them goodnight.
Obama sided with the Communist would-be dictator of Honduras, Zelaya, over that country's Constitutional government. He even had Hillary Clinton impose economic sanctions against Honduras until they accept Dictator Zelaya, personal friend and ally of lunatic Hugo Chavez, as their dictator-for-life. Only after intense pressure from Conservatives, who took their case to the American people and exposed Obama's feckless lobbying on behalf of insane dictators, did Obama suddenly change his tune. But then he acted as though he had supported liberty and freedom all along, a bold-faced lie.
Obama wants to give rights to terrorists because his goal is to make it as hard as he can for us to fight radical Islam. He wants to give KSM and other terrorists civilian trials because he wants to provide them a showcase for their anti-American propaganda. He wants to put America on trial.
Every single policy Obama has implemented or proposed has had as its goal the weakening of America. He's the most anti-American radical ever to sit in the Oval Office. Americans should impeach this crazy terrorist-loving fool ASAP before he gets a lot more people killed.

Vigorous honesty is when..... What you think..... What you say.... and what you do are in harmony, and; in harmony with your conscience (that still voice inside that says .........). At least you are honest with yourself. Are our politicians truthful? What is the true agenda? What is truly in the heart of our Leaders? We cannot know for certain, yet their actions do not match their words! There seems to be reason for worry! They maybe honest to their personal agendas, definitely not to what they SAY!

MichaelSSEC: Do Obama's actions smack of giving aid and comfort to the enemy, or is it just me? Why has he not been charged with treason? Why has he been allowed to ride roughshod over our Constitution and the people of our great country? What will it take to stop him? Granted, people are sheep, and far too many voters fell for his rhetoric in the campaign, but now that the sleeping giant is beginning to awaken, why are we just sitting here? Maybe Obama will pull a Nixon and resign before he can be impeached. Oh, Lord, Joe Biden as President? He's a bigger oaf than Gerald Ford ever was. Heaven help us all.
