Open Thread: ‘Don’t Ask’ Repealed
On Saturday, the Senate followed the House in voting to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” a Clinton-era law that prohibited homosexuals from serving openly in the military.
Marine Corps Commandant General James Amos gave his thoughts on repeal to a Leftmedia reporter: “Have you been out with the Marines in an intense firefight, you personally? Right now is a very intense period of time for a pretty healthy slice of the United States Marine Corps. This is not training. This is the real deal. And the forces that wear this uniform … told their commandant that they have concerns. That’s all I need. I don’t need a staff study. I don’t need to hire three PhDs to tell me [how] to interpret it. … [I]f they have concerns, I do too. It’s as simple as that. … When your life hangs on the line, you don’t want anything distracting. Mistakes and inattention or distractions cost Marines’ lives.”
When was the last time lives were more important than the Left’s agenda?
