Forbes' Avik Roy reveals that, “[I]n an obscure report buried in a June 2010 edition of the Federal Register, administration officials predicted massive disruption of the private insurance market.” In other words, even more evidence exists that Obama knew you couldn’t keep your health plan. Roy ran the numbers and determined that “51 percent of the employer-based market plus 53.5 percent of the non-group market (the middle of the administration’s range) amounts to 93 million Americans” likely to lose their plans. Yet this week Jay Carney insisted that it’s just “5 percent of the population” that will be affected, and Obama claimed that only “a fraction of Americans with higher incomes … will pay more on the front end for better insurance…”
