In response to the shocking videos produced by the Center for Medical Progress that exposed Planned Parenthood’s aborted-baby-parts trafficking business, more than one state government decided that their state could no longer do business with the nation’s largest abortion provider. Three states canceled their contracts with Planned Parenthood, blocking the flow of state money. Thirteen other states opened investigations into Planned Parenthood after CMP’s videos showed the organization appearing to break federal laws regarding the procurement of fetal tissue for medical experiments. But the openly pro-abortion Obama administration couldn’t let the decisions stand and leapt to the defense of PP. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services contacted the states that terminated Planned Parenthood contracts to say their actions may have violated federal law. “Longstanding Medicaid laws prohibit states from restricting individuals who have coverage through Medicaid from receiving care from a qualified provider,” said Ben Wakana, spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services. “By restricting which provider a woman could choose to receive care from, women could lose access to critical preventive care, such as cancer screenings.” Where do the priorities for this administration lie? Isn’t medical ethics more important than preventative screenings? There are clear instances within the CMP videos that warrant federal investigation. But Barack Obama and Attorney General Loretta Lynch are too beholden to the abortion lobby to do anything about these gruesome practices.
